    For me, one of the greatest games of ANY game generation. What other game makes so clear--thru its game mechanic, fighting mech dinosaurs--a metaphor for the harmful rule of corporations who stride the earth, rule the Earth, ruin the Earth and the courageous Cultural Creative individuals needed to stand up, resist and defeat them?

    Can you name even one more game making such a bold,    For me, one of the greatest games of ANY game generation.     The truly human values of Aloy are a welcome relief to me after endless game genres celebrating every flavor of toxic apocalypse.
    Unlike the recent three Tomb Raider reboots (also favorites of mine), Horizon avoids the inconsistencies of the Lara Croft character: alternating between soft and feminine one moment and brutally lethal the next.     Pros:

    * Exceptional graphics / world detail. * Good game controls. * Great character in Aloy (she's a cutie, too). * The machines in the world are just so well-animated and textured. * Stealth combat is a lot of fun - going up against these machines, especially later in the game with the bigger ones is pretty enjoyable because it's like you're being stalked a lot of the time, which    Pros:

    * Exceptional graphics / world detail.
    * Good game controls.
    * Great character in Aloy (she's a cutie, too).
    * The machines in the world are just so well-animated and textured.
    * Stealth combat is a lot of fun - going up against these machines, especially later in the game with the bigger ones is pretty enjoyable because it's like you're being stalked a lot of the time, which makes it pretty fun to sneak around and try to get the jump on them - the machines are also good strategy in the weapons system, too - you can set traps for them and use special arrows to try to exploit weakness and weak spots on the machines.
    * Excellent kill animations on both the machines & humans.
    * On-the-fly adjustable difficulty settings.
    * Very good core story that kept my interest throughout.
    * I have seen some folks talking about bad performance, but overall the game ran really well for me - very smooth once I got all my settings adjusted properly for one video card (since multi-gpu is non functional)

    Cons:

    * No multi-gpu support.
    * A good bit of the narrative / world setup is on the feminism spectrum, which annoyed me. Didn't completely ruin the game or anything, but anytime I see SJW-driven feminism or "down with the patriarchy" type stuff it makes me cringe a bit.
    * Building on the above point, a lot of the men in the game are pretty "soy boyish" - very feminine and weak from their body language to the voice acting for them. And as I'm getting toward the end of the game now (~65 hours in) it's become more and more apparent that the majority of the male characters in the game are either bad / evil, feminine / soy boyish if they are good people, or if they are really masculine men they are painted in some way to be responsible for cataclysmic events, while nearly every female in the game is a hero, of perfect upstanding morals and someone to be worshipped. This devalues the overall core story (which as I noted in the Pros section, is actually pretty good) with its absurdity, lack of realism, and in-your-face gender politics agenda.
    * The melee combat needs more variation - need to be able to counter and have close-up fighting abilities besides just sloppy hit-box swinging and then dodging which is basically all the combat is once you get up close and personal.
    * Late release on PC - released in 2017 for PS4, but took another 3 years or so for the PC release, and they are still asking $50 retail for it - crazy for a 3-year-old game.
    * Game is missing the "Nora Lookout" outfit & Longbow and it's a really cool outfit, so very disappointing to see that missing. Laughable when they call it the "Complete Edition" when it's not complete...

    Game Length: 72 hours - I completed about 99% of the game (including the DLC "Frozen Wilds") - basically everything except for a couple sets of collectibles that I didn't feel added much value to the game / narrative so I didn't bother going after them.

    Overall Rating: 5 / 10 - Due to the feminism narrative angle I covered in the Cons section, I'm really glad I didn't buy this game and opted instead to borrow a copy from a friend as I really don't like giving money to any project that pushes gender / identity politics, feminism, or any form of "wokeness". Disappointing given how the core story itself is very interesting and engaging, but was rendered less enjoyable by the end of the game due to the political agenda of the writing that was needlessly shoved down the player's throat. If you decide to buy it, just buy it when it's heavily discounted.    … Expand

    I have personally had none of the crazy technical issues that supposedly make the game "unplayable." It has worked perfectly. I moved FOV to 100, turned off FPS limit, Vsync, motion blur, and tweaked some of the graphic settings to balance FPS with fidelity. I couldn't be happier with the game. Obviously the story is amazing, and it has been just long enough since playing the PS4I have personally had none of the crazy technical issues that supposedly make the game "unplayable."     I'm running an i7-8770 / 1080Ti / 32gb DDR4 / older SSD w/ 600 mb up/down. The game runs like butter. I did have one technical issue, where the game didn't remember my graphics or key bind changes, and it took all of 3 minutes to restore them to my liking.

It was a blast to play then and the polish was really remarkable for a studio with only one moderately popular IP. Still think it's interesting that this and BOTW came out the same year and had very, very similar post-apocalyptic backstories (and some enemy designs). In any case, playing it three years ago even on a PS4 Pro, I couldn't help but yearn for running it with the full backing of PC hardware.

    So let me cut to the chase, I have been running the latest patch (1.02) without any problems whatsoever being 13 hours into the game at this point. It looks FANTASTIC and my frame-rate is at least average for a heavy game like this in terms of stability. I get 55-70fps (1440p most everything maxxed) most of the time with occasional dips into the 30s and periodic dropped frames, not too unusual but there is room for improvement to be sure.
    I'm running on CPU - Ryzen 2600x GPU - MSI Duke 1080ti 11gb w/ 16gb DDR4
    The dips and drops occur when a lot of models and effects are loaded quickly (i.e when running on a mount into a group of enemies or through a settlement with a lot of NPCs) ; fairly standard hiccups for a graphics heavy game.
    the TLDR: the game has been running phenomenally for me and is more than I could have wished for imagining a PC release while settling for the 30fps on PS4 in 2017. I've read people's performance results have varied substantially especially in previous patch builds of the game. That had not been my experience at all.
    The game itself is a blast, you can read other reviews about the gameplay and graphics. Suffice to say that exploration is fun, combat is very good with a lot of variety in enemy attacks, weaknesses, weapons, and character abilities. The story is more than passable, the world is very large, and most notably, absolutely stunning. This is easily one of the prettiest and artistically stunning games I have ever played on PC.
    The PC performance boo-hoos have been greatly blown out-of-proportion assuming my mainstream PC is fairly representative. If you like action-adventure games and have a decent rig (idk how well this game scales pre-2016/15 hardware) this is absolutely worth checking out.    … Expand

    The game is really good. The character settings, the plot and every other aspects of the game play is great including the songs, environment etc. However the main problem lies within the optimization..When I opened the game at first the game forces itself to optimize for you, and the optimization takes like 30 mins and mine freezed at 100% where I had to reboot the pc and restart it, thereThe game is really good. The optimization is terrible, the devs are already working to fix the issue but why would they release a badly-optimized game like take your time and made the game good enough with no performance issue and test it well and then release it rather than releasing it and then giving out updates and patches to fix the issue...… Expand

    Might be the most beautiful game I’ve ever played! Gameplay is fun and challenging. Good story. Very similar to an open world Tomb Raider game.

    One of the best games I've played in a very long time. Beautiful environment , great soundtrack. Game play was really good and the story was very really good. Kept me wanting to keep playing and find out the next part in the story. I took one point do due the pc version constantly crashing on me. A must have game.

    такое чувство, что вся игра делалась вокруг сюжета, а всё остальное - персонажей, побочные квесты, опен ворлд и чистку карты - добавили только для галочки. как итог - основная сюжетная ветка более-менее интересная (только там, где надо по бункерам лазить), а остальной контент - скучная, унылая безыдейная ахинея. особенно раздражает чистка карты, на которую уйдёт часов 40-50.такое чувство, что вся игра делалась вокруг сюжета, а всё остальное - персонажей, побочные квесты, опен ворлд и чистку карты - добавили только для галочки. как итог - основная сюжетная ветка более-менее интересная (только там, где надо по бункерам лазить), а остальной контент - скучная, унылая безыдейная ахинея. особенно раздражает чистка карты, на которую уйдёт часов 40-50.

    Very interesting and emotional main story line quest surrounded by tons of local quests, trials e.t.c. Main character without charisma, but still pretty good young lady.
    In game main soundtrack and background music in game are top notch.

Были бы арбалеты хотя бы с мощной дугой - допустим, там хоть что-то пробить можно, а из лука стрелять по стали - только время тратить, не пробьешь. Ну и сочетание первобытного общества и роботов - лютый идиотизм. Откуда роботы берут энергию, как они ремонтируются и т.д. - никак, магия. Ну и девочка, главная героиня, нашла в заброшенном разрушенном заросшем бункере устройство размером с половину банковской карты, треугольное, толщиной с пять пластиковых карт - и данное устройство конечно же не разрядилось, оно включилось и начало лазерные голограммы пускать метров на 15. Гениально. Физика для лохов, колдунство для пацанов. Сюжет идет от того, что героиня из изгоев и ее притесняют - меня от данной темы блевать тянет, я пропускаю заставки с такой тематикой. СЖВ-говно. Почему изгой, зачем - хз. Разрабы, идите в анус, сами вы изгои. А так - сама героиня нормальная, к ней вопросов ноль.

    Интерактивность мира низкая - следов не остается на снегу или в грязи, ты как бестельный призрак, но мир очень красивый и он открытый. Хотя после Shadow of the tomb raider честно говоря и визуал и нулевая интерактивность очень бьют по глазам. И героиня конечно до Лары даже примерно не дотягивает.

    В целом игра хороша, хоть и довольно много гринда, боевка сложная непонятно зачем. Сюжет идиотский пока, хотя судя по роботам рядом с первобытными людьми - его на что-то адекватное вывести невозможно - наверняка там под землей гигантский комплекс окажется, в который роботы ВСЕ ходят ремонтироваться. И никто конечно гигантский каньон от их ног не видел, ага. Ну и сам комплекс не ломается потому что магия, и источник, питающий сам комплекс - наверно Солнце напрямую. В общем, сюжет заведомо никакой, фентезятина. В целом мир очень слабый, сценаристу дизреспект. Хотя красивый, что есть то есть. Гуманитариям зайдет точно.

    В целом игру советую, пока новых Томб Райдеров нет - вполне себе вариант неплохой. 9 баллов потому что на фоне Томб Райдера и еще некоторых игр игра слаба, но на фоне остального - очень хороша. Ларка стабильно 10, здесь пусть 9 будет    … Expand

    Juego que pese a sus fallos, luce igual o mejor que en ps4 cuyo rendimiento es entre 55 y 60 fps, con una 1060, en el peor de los casos 25 fps mas que en ps4. la gente parece olvidar que en ps4 tenia bajones, a recordar que otros juegos iban mucho peor optimizados y les ponían medallas y a este solo criticas de salida

Как в это говно наиграть более 20 минут - мне не ясно. Меня не хватило и на 10, я просто не мог терпеть этот уебищный геймплей, мне было плохо, я альт-табался каждые 2 минуты от скуки, чтобы снова проверить соц-сети.Я уверяю вас - вы уже играли в эту игру несколько сотен раз, даже если вы никогда её не запускали.     The game itself is good and beautiful, but sony can **** themselves. Instead of working on a proper port they preferred to outsource it to some low skill low budget slaves. R u kidding me? It crashes every time!

    Good story and voice acting, very good graphics, incredible fun. High replayability. Normally when I complete a game I just put it aside and leave it, but I just keep playing one more session.

    But, if I avoid from these issues, it's a bad port like many other ports for PC platform. There is a lot of game crushes killing the rest of the joy. They really need to create games for PC exclusive first, then Consoles.     Horizon Zero Dawn sin duda es un juego muy entretenido y bastante completo. A nivel de jugabilidad es básicamente un Tomb Raider de los nuevos, con el énfasis en el arco, la caza, el crafteo y todo eso. Aunque el combate, especialmente con las máquinas, es bastante diferente, ya que se basa en gran medida en atacar los distintos puntos débiles y usar elementos apropiados para cada enemigo.Horizon Zero Dawn sin duda es un juego muy entretenido y bastante completo. A nivel de jugabilidad es básicamente un Tomb Raider de los nuevos, con el énfasis en el arco, la caza, el crafteo y todo eso. Aunque el combate, especialmente con las máquinas, es bastante diferente, ya que se basa en gran medida en atacar los distintos puntos débiles y usar elementos apropiados para cada enemigo. La historia en general está bastante bien llevada, con personajes interesantes y un trasfondo bastante bien construido, aunque con alguna cosa sin sentido; el problema es que, para nosotros como espectadores, es fácil conectar a menudo los puntos de la trama más rápido de lo que puede hacerlo Aloy, de modo que a menudo los giros de guión no resultan sorprendentes. Y las misiones secundarias, en general, no son particularmente interesantes.

    Gráficamente el juego es espectacular, tanto en la ejecución como, especialmente, en el diseño.     The game is really cool. The graphics were pulled to a new level and on average parameters it looks much better than most projects of 19-20 at maximum settings. The plot and gameplay are also made just fine and very addictive, and in some places I was very surprised by unexpected turns.

The graphics were pulled to a new level and on average parameters it looks much better than most projects of 19-20 at maximum settings. The plot and gameplay are also made just fine and very addictive, and in some places I was very surprised by unexpected turns.
    In terms of optimization, I did not feel any particular problems, although I played on a low-mid-range PC. I saw the unloaded texture of the character only 1 time at the beginning for 1 second, and the sorties visited me only 2 times, but all this is quite forgivable if you remember that for developers this is the first experience of a port from PS4 to PC, and even more so on such a large scale.
    As a result, my score is 9/10, 1 point I took off for optimization flaws.    … Expand

    Ive played it on PS4 and loved it - but on PC iam still waiting that they make the game playable. Way to many Bugs and Performance Issues. As soon as it runs smoothly i will enjoy it finally on PC with nice controls and nice graphics than on ps4

A game like this deserves to be played on a machine that can bring out it's true beauty and damn did they deliver. The gameplay is smooth, the graphics are gorgeous.     Some people say this port is bad and nonoptimized. I don't know why they suffer from these problems. In my opinion - the port is a good and nice performance. The gameplay runs pretty smoothly. The plot is amazing. The graphics are great. I have never played Sony exclusives, but if the rest of exclusives has the same quality - i hope they will be ported to PC as well.

    The gameplay and story are great, the combat style is original and the graphics are beautiful. I give it a 6 because the port is terrible, it crashes when the game optimizes the shaders, stutters a lot and frames drop a lot in every weather but sunny, some textures and models take forever to render (if they render in the first place).

    Overall - a pretty nice game. Console players praised it as if it was Jesus Christ himself. However, it is not. It's just a well-looking bow-shooting game. Kinda on par with Far Cry Primal, but with robots. And graphics in Far Cry is better. DEFINITELY not something that should be brought above other games of this kind (Tomb Raider and said Far Cry). But it's worth a shot.

    Very impressed that Sony decided to adapt the game to PC.
    I played the PS4 version at launch and now playing the PC version which has better FX, way better framerates (who remembers the big framerates drop on the PS4 version?) and an impressive deep of field.
    The game was stable on my PC (2080, i7, 32GB ram).
    So big thanks to Guerrilla to give more players the chance to play this gem.

    There were crashes at the beginning, but after the patches there isn't any serious crashes or bugs on it with the Gigabyte 1060. Great port and upgrade.

I have RTX 2070 and Ryzen 9 3900X. Story of this game could be sci-fic book, it's so good. I was interested in that story cause there was always something that i didn't know. Biraz hikayeden bahsedeyim; oyunda Aloy ismindeki karakteri kontrol ediyoruz. Oyun gelecekte geçiyor, her şey "FARO" ismindeki şirketin robotlar üretmesi ile başlıyor. Ardından bu robotlar büyük devletlerin ilgisini çekiyor ve zamanla büyük devletler de savaş robotları üretmeye başlıyor. Robotlar, yakıtını canlıları yok ederek dolduruyor. Ardından olaylar çığırından çıkıyor ve ABD, bu robotları ortadan kaldırabilmek için "Zero Dawn" isimli proje üzerinde çalışmaya başlıyor. "Zero Dawn" aslında "Gaia" adlı bir yapay zeka, bu yapay zeka tüm robotları devre dışı bırakmaya yarıyor. Gaia projesi tamamlandıktan sonra, dünyada yaşam kalmıyor. Gaia, makineleri devre dışı bıraktıktan sonra kendi makinelerini yaratıp yaşamı geri getirmeleri için dünyaya gönderiyor. Hikaye bu şekilde Aloy'un dünyayı robotlardan arındırmaya çalışması şeklinde ilerliyor. Oyunda 20 farklı dil seçeneği bulunuyor fakat Türkçe yok, 20 dil ekleyip Türkçeyi neden eklemediklerini anlayamıyorum. Oyunun hikayesi pek ilgimi çekmedi, oyunun diyaloglarına rol yapma özellikleri koyulmuş fakat yaptığımız seçimler neredeyse hiçbir şeyi değiştirmiyor. Oyun Rost'u ilk başta çok önemli bir karaktermiş gibi gösteriyor fakat Rost çok erken ölüyor. Ayrıca hikaye sunumu çok kötü, hikaye anlatımı konusunda da oyun pek başarılı değil ve hikayenin birçok noktasında kopukluk hissettim, bundan dolayı hikayeyi sevmedim. Oyunun çok büyük bir açık dünyası var, karlı dağlar, çöller, cıvıl cıvıl ormanlar, göller, nehirler, köyler gibi birçok farklı mekan var oyunun açık dünyasında, açık dünya mekan çeşitliliği ve mekan tasarımı konusunda oldukça başarılı. Fakat açık dünya hiç canlı hissettirmiyor. Oyunun açık dünyası genel olarak sürekli bize saldıran robotlarla dolu. Köy ve kale benzeri yerleşim yerlerinde de maalesef hiçbir canlılık yok. Yani oyunun haritası büyük ama canlı değil. Oynanış olarak savaş konusunda oyun başarılı. Normal ok, yanıcı ok, yakın dövüş, elektrik makinesi ve birkaç farklı ateşli silah oyunda mevcut, ayrıca oyundaki satıcılardan da birçok farklı silah satın alabiliyoruz. Aynı zamanda yetenek ağacında yeni yetenekler açtıkça kullandığımız silahlara ve yakın dövüşe yeni özellikler kazandırabiliyor ve çeşitli savaş hareketleri açabiliyoruz. Vuruş hissiyatı olarak da oyun genel gayet başarılı, her ne kadar insan düşmanlara karşı vuruş hissiyatı pek iyi olmasa da robotlara karşı vuruş hissiyatı çok iyi. Robota vurduğumuzda, robotun hasar alan yerlerinin parçalandığını veya yandığını görebiliyoruz, robot da hareketleri ile hasar aldığını hissettiriyor. Oyun oynanış konusunda çeşitli ve başarılı diyebilirim. Ancak oyun kendini çok tekrar ediyor, yan görevler ve ana görevler hiç çeşitli değil. Oyunda bir süre ilerledikten sonra oyun kendini o kadar çok tekrar ediyor ki oyuncu gerçekten de çok sıkılıyor, maalesef oyunun haritasında yapılabilecek çok şey yok. Grafiksel olarak oyun gerçekten de çok başarılı, oyunun grafikleri çok canlı ve güzel görünüyor, bir açık dünya oyunu için grafik seviyesi oldukça iyi seviyede. Fakat grafikler iyi olmasına rağmen karakter modelleri çok detaysız ve kötü duruyor. Gelelim bu oyunun en büyük sorununa; optimizasyon! Oyun son zamanlarda gördüğüm en kötü optimizasyonlardan birine sahip. Ara sahnelerde takılmalar meydana geliyor, karakter animasyonları 30 FPS'e sabitlenmiş. Sistemimin oyunu rahat bir şekilde kaldırmasına rağmen ve bilgisayarımın bellek miktarının oyuna yetmesine rağmen oyunda yer yer takılmalar, FPS düşüşleri meydana geliyor. Yaşadığım en büyük sorun ise kaplamaların yüklenmemesi sorunu oldu. Oyunda büyük bir kaplama problemi var, kaplamaların çözünürlüğü sık sık değişiyor, aynı zamanda bazı kaplamalar hiç yüklenmiyor ve düşük çözünürlükte kalıyor, bu da doğal olarak kötü bir görüntüye sebep oluyor. Üstelik oyunu SSD'den oynamama rağmen kaplama sorununu yaşadım, yani sorun kesinlikle benim sistemimle alakalı değil. Ayrıca bazen bir yerden bir yere robot sürerek gidince yolda kısa bir yükleme ekranı ile karşılaşıyorum, oyun haritayı yüklemeye çalışıyor, 2020 yılında çıkmış bir açık dünya oyunu nasıl oluyor da oyuncu haritada gezerken yükleme ekranı göstererek haritayı yüklemeye ihtiyaç duyuyor anlam veremiyorum doğrusu. Un mundo muy bien ambientado, acción, sigilo, plataformeo, decisiones que afectan al mundo, hackeo, crazteo, un sinfín de tareas allá por donde vayas. Buenos gráficos y un manejo notable del personaje. Con está descripción estaríamos hablando de un GOTY, colmo GTA o RDR2 o los nuevos Tomb Raider, pero todo ese demasiado genérico, es como un copia y pega de todos estos juegos y sus mecánicas. Al final todo da bastante pereza, después de esas 6 horas apenas había completado un 5% del juego.
    La protagonista nunca me llega a convencer y la historia que en principio me llamaba mucho, al poco tiempo me daba lo mismo y no tenía ni magia ni ganas de seguir descubriendo ese mundo.

    This game is very beautiful !
    But , it looks generic & boring . Gameplay is repetitive and boring .
    This game feels like a "TOMB RAIDER" copy with "Assassin's creed" environment.
    Just play this game for the visuals . Story is boring and really not good .
    Better play this on play station , on pc there are serious optimization issues.

    The story is one of the greatest Science Fiction stories told. I have been a scince fiction fan for 40 years and this was so refreshing. I now hold this game in my top 10 of all times

    I thought that the “It was Earth all along!” thing would be a twist, but the game literally puts it in one of the loading    Horizon: Zero Dawn is an open-world game where you fight giant robot dinsosaurs and giant mammal robots in the post-apocalyptic Midwest. You play as Aloy, a red-headed young woman who was outcast at birth from her tribe, the Nora, for an initially unspecified reason.

    I thought that the “It was Earth all along!” thing would be a twist, but the game literally puts it in one of the loading screen hints, and the very start of the game has you walking through a ruined facility to get your Focus – a device which serves as an excuse for giving you an in-game HUD, as well as allowing you to scan and analyze the robots.

    This is quite the contrast to your weaponry – you carry around a bow and arrow, along with some other “primitive” equipment, but it is much more advanced than it seems – your bow is a compound bow, and you quickly start getting strange weapons like a sling that fires explosive and elemental rounds, a crossbow that launches explosive tripline traps, and a rope gun that can tie enemies to the ground.

    This sort of weird mixture of retro and futuristic runs throughout the game – you fight giant “animal” robots, while using weapons that you craft ammunition for using stuff you drag out of the corpses of the robots after you kill them.

    The core promise of the game – fighting against these cool giant robots – works quite well. There’s a reasonable variety of enemies (though a few types – like the various grazer robots – do end up being a bit samey), and each has their own strengths, weaknesses, and attack patterns. There are buffalo that charge around and leave firey trails, birds that shoot frost attacks at you, giant robots with multiple laser cannons attached to them… it’s a nice bit of variety, both in terms of the size of the robots and in how easy they are to defeat.

    Indeed, the game has some nice scaling at first – you start out fighting robots that are about your size, and then encounter your first mid-sized robot, which is a scary challenge. By the end of the game, you are dispatching those mid-sized robots easily and fighting gigantic robots that are more dangerous – well, at least in theory.

    In practice, sadly, like many open world games, this game’s scaling is messed up. And part of this is because the game runs out of new robots to throw at you. By the time you reach Meridian – the major city center of the game – you are less than halfway through the game’s playtime, but you will have likely encountered all but one type of enemy robot. This makes the second half of the game a bit of a letdown, as the game ends up running out of new challenges, and fighting the robots you’ve faced already becomes increasingly rote. The shiny new game smell wears off, and it ends up becoming a series of challenges that are just pretty trivial to overcome, except for the DLC area (which is included in the main game now) and the second to final major battle in the game.

    The game tries to make up for this in another way – the story of what happened to the world before, how it is that everything is in ruins, why it is that Aloy was cast out at birth, and why there are giant robotic dinosaurs wandering around is all very intriguing, and as you progress through the game, you come to unravel this mystery, seeing the story of the old world come together and just how Aloy’s unusual birth ties into these ancient mysteries.

    Indeed, this is where the game shines the most – the facilities look really neat (particularly some of the more active ones, like the Cauldrons, where robots are still being made), and the various audio logs and holographic images are very well done.

    Unfortunately, the game has some issues elsewhere with the story; in particular, the normal dialogue scenes often feel a bit stilted, with a lot of the voice actors seeming a bit flat. While the situation is certainly a bummer a great deal of the time, it still ends up being rather stilted at times in delivery.

    Still, these shortcomings can be overlooked, and they weren’t a dealbreaker for me.

    That being said, this game does have one major flaw: it is far too long.

    Open world games often have this problem, and Horizon: Zero Dawn is no exception. There is way more content than there is INTERESTING content, and while there’s tons of space to explore, and a big world to look at, a lot of it honestly ends up being a bit old hat. It is the main quest that is the biggest strength of the game, the mystery of the old world, with the present-day people (with the exception of a handful of characters) being much less interesting than the mysteries of the old world. And given that almost all of the side quests involve the present, not the past, it ends up exacerbating the common issue of sidequests feeling worse than the main plot.

It feels like their departments did their jobs--the world is big and pretty--but they were missing a side quest designer and writer.

    The young woman's perspective works, and I say that as a middle-aged man. The game is mildly feminist but without being misandristic. Kudos to the writers for pulling that off.

    Stealth combat is fun, but a lot of the other combat is meh. Rotating the camera while switching usable items and weapons is frustrating, as is the fact that Aloy will spontaneously stop running from time to time, and that's usually when you need her to do so most. The dodge function is unlockable, which is okay, but the default key mapping is left Ctrl, which is a bizarre choice. I would have preferred double-tapping WASD like in the Witcher 3.

    The basic concept of the combat is a bit weird. You're a ranged fighter who doesn't run very fast, fighting bullet spongey robots that do. They also gang up on you. Once one cyberanimal detects you, they suddenly all know you're there and they come running.

    I did not encounter the bugs everyone else is talking about. It never crashed on me. One quest looked really nonsensical because of a missing cut scene or something, but most of it seemed to be non-bugged.

    I am inclined to give this a 7, but 2017 was a really bad year for games so I'll be lenient. I won't say I'm looking forward to the sequel because the best part of this game was the suspense. The less you know about it going in the better it is. If they make a sequel the suspense might not be there.    … Expand

    FPS locked animations
    I've crashed several times within the first few hours of playing
    Lighting and entities will randomly pop in and out of existence rapidly(extremely distracting)
    Aloy and all the physics attached to her freak out on almost every camera change during conversations and cutscenes.
    Performance is also absolutely not in an acceptable spot right now, considering me and my bf have identical pc builds and the game runs more than 30fps worse on his pc.    … Expand

    I won't be "reviewing" the game. It's a 3 years old title and you all played it already or read about it enough, so you all know what's going on and if you want to play it on PC or not.

    My biggest concern in here is the state of the PC port.
    Here's my set up for the reference.
    i7-8700K @3,7GHz
    32GB RAM
    GTX1080 @1440p with G-sync @165Hz
    Game runs on ultra settings with motion blur turned off.

    The game has very unstable fps on my rig but overall runs at about 50 to 60fps. It can occasionally jump to 90 or fall to high 30's but most of the time stays within that 50-60 range. To my surprise it can jump to 150-180 during cutscenes and starting to think is this what causes the problems?

    The game crashes randomly during cutscenes and it can be anything from major plot scene to a short conversation with a merchant. There is no quick save in this game where you can press the F5 and save it, you have to go to a camp fire (go figure....) and "quick save it" that way.
    With random crashes and when you don't really know what will happen around the corner you can loose hours of play, and the game won't let you quick save before any attempt at conversation or interaction with NPC's.

    HZD is a mash up between the Tomb Raider(2013) and AC Origins and it looks and plays quite nice but unfortunately not as good as TR or AC O.
    There is something odd in character movement and it has some weird "glitches" like characters moving quickly or fall back into places after a cut scene.

    According to Steam I played for 10 hours. Take 2 of them for setting up and general testing. That gives you around 8 hours of gameplay. Probably 3-4 hours from this 8 were lost to crashes where I had to replay the whole sections of the map.
    My first 3 crashes happened in the firs 20 minutes of tutorial.

    At the moment - DO NOT BUY IT! Wait for updates and fixes. Give it a month or two.
    If by then you won't be playing Cyberpunk and still be interested in this game then yes, but until it's fixed - NO.    … Expand

    Frames from 70-180fps all the way on a 1440p display, so i suspect it is peope not smart enough to setup their system and game properly, since none of the usual people who comes to me with problems has had any issues with the game so far.

For Aloy-sigh voice acting is involved. And it fails-sigh. So much that it makes the game unimmersive-sigh and unplayable for me.     An unfortunate miserable disaster of a PC port. The game doesn't even look great, feels like anti-aliasing doesn't even work meanwhile your entire ram and Vram are completely filled. This allocates like 8Gb of ram just by being in the menu, like 12gb in game. Massive amounts of stutter and lag spikes

    Horizon is an open world game. The main story is interesting, how become the world such like this. The side quests and the tribal societies's actual little problems are not so interesting, but its fine. The world are very beautiful, the sounds of the wild are very good. I feel the athmosphere. The fighting systems are correct. This is an enjoyable game.

    I had tons of fun with the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn. I appreciated the story, enjoyed exploring the vast, remarkable world crafted masterfully out of extremely diverse elements, and found defeating the largest mechanical beasts to be deeply satisfying every single time. Additionally, the Complete Edition features The Frozen Wilds expansion, which is not only large, but also visually stunning. [10/2020, p.56]
