Excellent game which the most fun I have had in a game in a while! They still have a few bugs to work out but they will get there. It will be a 10, once they fix the bugs.

Quite a fun romp through the Harry Potter world. Unfortunately, you can tell they were aspiring for bigger things at the start of the game and then towards the end you are just repeating a lot of the same basic content over and over, but it's still very enjoyable.

The best Harry Potter / open world wizard game every made. Needs some graphical optimization on PC still, but nothing game or immersion breaking.

I like the game so far (after 20 hours), it is far larger than I initially thought. I feel more like an undercover Ministry of Magic agent than a student. Combat is not easy, especially when fighting groups, I just need to get good in that regard. Positioning can make some fight easier. It's AAA and it feels AAA. You can walk instead of fly, you can buy instead of harvest components. You can spend hours customizing the room of requirement or just leave it as is. Basically, you can make the game as long or as short as you want.

The only negative I have is that playing on a 3090 on an ultrawide, I feel that it should look better. Every setting except raytracing is on Ultra, but the graphics don't really wow me. But that's just me I guess. I can't really see a difference with raytracing on or off, it just looks the same.

After 18h I am amazed with what Devs did with the univers. The world and the castle is wonderful. Technically runs okay on PC but could be better. This not a game for average PC :)

Metacritic is calling all 7's a Mixed result for Hogwarts Legacy instead of Positive as they do for EVERYTHING else.

The game is both stable and has a lot of enjoyable gameplay, as well as covering all the major elements and areas of the movies. It is not perfect, but is far better than most games today.

The amount of detail and world building within this game is second to none! I've never enjoyed just exploring and marveling at the small details like I have in this game. The controls felt fluid and easy to dive into and the story was compelling enough to make me motivated in continuing to play through.

    Very well done.

This is the first game I’ve played in a long time where I lost track of time. Before I knew it I was 5 hours in and felt like I barely scratched the surface. The visuals are amazing, controls feel good so far, some stutter issues that I hope they work out with a patch. Overall, solid 9 out of 10.

I have around 20 hours into the game and love it. While the performance might a bit on the wanting side, but we need to keep in mind that we have not gotten the Drivers from Nvidia and AMD. There is some weird drops in FPS, and some bug here and there. But so far I have not minded whatsoever.

So Immersion is 10/10, the castle and grounds are amazing and done with love. I sent around 3 hours just going around and looking at these stunning scenes, then you get on a broom and can see it from the sky, so freaking good. RPG Elementals, Well I would have wanted a quick bar to the talking, as well as added in more people to properly talk to. But there are some and they are mostly pretty damn worth it to listen to all they say. I will say that they might have gone a bit too extreme on the diversity dial here, but so far I liked all the characters expect for one, and that is just the accent I really hate. So ingame mechanics is explained in the story which is awesome. Combat I like it, while it might get a bit boring if you just attack the Wolf monster, but there is a mix of creatures, like 3-4 spiders types, which have something unique each. But dealing with Dark Wizards, and goblins is where the combat shines. Might be boring after maybe 100 hours, but so fair I love the combat 9/10, while the difficulty is a bit under. Story while it is not the best story in the world, it is pretty good, maybe 7/10. Broom flying 10/10. So if you like Harry Potter it is a must play, if you like fantasy wizard games it is a must-play, if you are a RPG Fan you can skip it, but still I would recommend for you to play it.

If you would have shown any Harry Potter fan this game in 2001 their head would have exploded. Strictly looking at this game in it's own and not comparing it to similar titles, this is the best Harry Potter experience to ever come to PC. If you just focus on the game on it's own merits and don't bring politics into it, it provides a very magical experience.

One of the best open world games I've played since gaming started for me which was the late 70s. Remarkable achievement. I have zero interest in the franchise but really enjoyed this fantastical video game. It's up there with Witcher 3, Forbidden West and on a good PC looks incredible at Native 4K and around 100fps.

Some of the quests and puzzles were a bit easy and bland and does get repetitive at later stages. The main storyline is a bit short and weak while one of the side mission storylines is amazing. Dialogue is a bit weak at times and doesn't do the game any favors in immersion. Developers spent a lot of time creating the game and weren't able to implement all the features they wanted in the game. I would rather have them cut back on the Merlin Trials, Demiguise Statues, and Dungeons and spent more time on a morality system and companion system. But where the game lacks, it makes up in other areas. Exploring the world really makes you feel like you're in the Harry Potter universe, especially inside Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade. I spent a lot of time just running and flying around and immersing myself in all the game had to offer. The game does quite a good job of making you feel like an actual student at Hogwarts. Attending classes was quite fun and allowed for your character to learn new spells. The combat system is amazing and fun but it lacks difficulty even on hard settings.

Performance-wise, some gamers have had issues with the game, whether it's framerate issues, performance issues, or just outright game-breaking bugs, I was one of the fortunate ones that had no such issues. I was able to run the game on high settings at 1080p (on a laptop with 3050Ti, 16 GB RAM) and averaged 70-80FPS with a maximum of 120fps and a minimum of 34fps (heavy fog/battle arena). Apart from a bug, one of the field pages not registering correctly, I haven't had any other bugs in the game that I have noticed or come across.

Overall the game has been amazing and I have just completed my first playthrough as a Gryffindor and have spent just over 120 hours and will still put in a few more to get to the 100% mark. I will be doing other playthroughs as different characters from other houses, while I await for more content to be added to the game. For a developer that has never made a AAA open-world RPG, they have done quite a good job at making a game that gamers of all ages and experiences, could pick up and play without too much difficulty. I can't wait to see how they will take in all the criticism and recommendations for the game and improve on it in the future, with DLC and sequels. But I have high hopes for them and can't wait for what they have planned in the future.

I would have given it a 10/10 but sadly I had to deduct a point for the fact that even after the day 1 patch, the performance of the game isn't exactly great. I'm playing the game on an RTX 4080 with a Ryzen 7 5800X and 32GB of RAM, on a 4k monitor, and even with DLSS set to Balanced and DLSS frame generation turned on I would get unacceptably low framerates when traveling through the castle, which seemed to get worse over time. Restarting the game helped minimize this, which makes me believe the game must be suffering a memory leak. I hope this will get patched soon so I can give this game a 10/10!

The exploration is obviously the core of the experience and I’d suggest focusing on that.
Contrary to what I was expecting, the combat is also fresh and engaging. It feels a little clunky at first but it's truly enjoyable once you learn a few spells and get into the flow. It’s probably going to be copied a thousand times like the Arkham games combat.

The experience stumbles a bit when it comes to storytelling. So far, it’s been full of little coincidences and things that don’t make sense, but it’s at least doing a good job of keeping things moving at a good pace and is in line with what you’d expect from a Harry Potter story.

Some of the quests can also feel a little simplistic but the characters you interact with while questing make up for it.

You’ll find some politics awkwardly jammed into the game but, although they break immersion, they can be ignored for the most part.

By far the worst part about the game is the PC port.
One moment I’m at 160 FPS, the next one I’m at 20, and this really ruins immersion.
While it does look good, there is simply no reason for it to drop below 100 FPS at any time on my PC.

In conclusion, I’d say this by far the best video game in the franchise.
If you are familiar with the books or even movies, you are bound to find this enjoyable.
If you don’t care about Harry Potter, you’ll probably still have a good time.

Is this game the best RPG ever made? No. But it's fun and it does a good job of capturing some of what made the series itself fun. There's going to be review bombing on both sides of the aisle from this game, so it pretty much follows the same line of logic you have to follow for every game or movie with a widely publicized release: ignore the user score, read specific reviews from reviewers you already trust to be honest and forthright with you.

The strongest parts of the game are arguably the setting (perhaps unsurprisingly), and the combat which is fairly fun. If I had to compare the game to anything, I'd say it feels a little like Fallen Order, but in the Harry Potter world. Unfortunately, as an AAA release, there are also an unusual amount of bugs. Some were fixed by the day one patch, while some haven't been. A strange one to provide as an example is that if you adjust the pitch of the characters voice at all, it causes them to have an oddly robotic tone.

If you aren't already interested in Harry Potter, then you should probably take a pass on this game. If you are interested in Harry Potter, you'll have a lot of fun. Again, I'd put it in a similar boat to Fallen Order with that particular line of logic.

No, the game doesn't deserve the hate it's getting from one side, nor does it do the game any benefit to be promoted by reactionaries or trolls on the other side. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, and if you're worried about where your money is going -- this game is probably going to benefit the author less than the Fantastic Beasts movies, which didn't draw nearly as much of a reaction, or ticket sales at Universal Studios, which also haven't drawn a reaction.

If you want a fun Harry Potter game to play, this is probably the best one since the old PS2/Xbox Chamber of Secrets game.

Its basically everything HP fan might want from a game and then some more. Not without flaws, but really they don't matter much. Keep in mind that any review that gives it ultra low score is very likely to be written because of political ideological reasons and has nothing to do with the quality of the game itself.

The game is magical. It promised magic and it delivers magic. Everything about HP universe except Quidditch has been integrated into the story and quests in a meaningful way. I really did not expect such a scale of events / things that we come across in our journey in Hogwarts Legacy. And then there is the meticulously crafted Hogwarts castle filled with details, lore and ambiance... Not to mention "cozy" Hogsmeade and its lively streets, shops and bars. And then there are other small towns and vistas they've crafted across the highlands. The world they crafted is a joy to explore. Especially with the added freedom and fun the broom or mounts give you.

There are caveats to the game however, it lacks substantial amount of interactivity within Hogwarts and other students. Mini games and side activities are kept to a minimum. Lore and accurate representation of locations are plentiful but they're mostly hollow.

Main story is not that interesting, and I could see why they kept it short. Its really a game where you just casually visit Hogwarts, instead of actually being a student in it. Story mostly revolves around outside locations or outside dungeons that has nothing to do with Hogwarts. Being an open world RPG, I can see why they went that route but this ended up making Hogwarts a touristic place instead of actual gameplay place.

However, a HP fan couldn've exact for a better replica of Hogwarts. They nailed lighting, textures, ambiance quite extraordinarly and that alone deserves appreciation. I'd say similar amounts of effort went into Hogsmeade and surroundings of Hogwarts as well.

The success of Hogwarts Legacy clearly shows that good sales and warm feedback from players are ensured not so much by the gameplay thought out to the smallest detail but by carefully reproducing the right atmosphere. But this is already a subtle moment, akin to real magic, and here the nameless developers of Avalanche Software succeeded.

Hogwarts Legacy is an altogether excellent port of Wizarding World to PC screens. It proudly belongs to the Young Adult fiction genre, which may make immersion difficult for older gamers.
