DawidK.Aug 3, 2007One of the best sequels so far. Gain of good looking without loss in Heroes climate. Only Heroes III is still better than this one. To arms brothers! Theres a game that is worth playing! ( something unusuall these days).

BrentD.May 27, 2006This is the Heroes of old school. The game looks prettier but it pays just like the older HoMM games, which is a very good thing. I was a bit dissapointed when number 4 changed too much for my liking, but the return to classic Heroes play makes this one a gem.

KyleF.May 27, 2006This is a supreme example of a hero game. Definately the best in the Heroes series so far. I've been playing pretty much nonstop since I got it and will spend many many looooooon ghours playing some more. And more! And more!

Mar 2, 2013There has been almost no innovation since 3, seems like 90% of the units are identical, even though this is 2 games farther on in the series. I don't think the developers actually understand their own game, it's extremely unbalanced and trivially easy. Stick to King's Bounty.

Jan 4, 2011The good: Good graphics, good music, good gameplay. The bad: combat is a bit flat, it's easy to tell which side will win just by looking at the armies on both sides.

KlausB.May 25, 2006The game is absolutely awesome. Of course no game is *perfect* at the time of release, but the lots patches being released until the first expansion comes out - and I think even afterwards - will not only fix the last bugs and balance glitches but also add new features to the game! It's a pity the game isn't rerated afterwards.

Jan 12, 2013Really tedious game with very little strategy and ridiculously strong and unbalanced AI even on easy level. Pretty graphics is the only thing going for it. Exercise in frustration - stay away!

May 22, 2012I have played all the heroes of might and magic games since Heroes 2 and I ahve to say, this game truly is fun and feels like those games I used to love as a kid. I have had a lot of fun with this game, and its price is really good. I recomend it to anyone, including those hardcore Heroes 3 players :)! Have fun!

Jan 8, 2016Best game in the franchise.
Period.
They just took HooM3 and improvet on it a lot.
Look at HooM6 or HooM7! And compare it to that gem! Good old times:( -

Oct 22, 2013The rights were sold to Ubisoft, who dropped the ball completely.
The game is full of bugs, the graphics are jarringly ugly, with a nonsensical camera and bad animations.
Gameplay is dumbed down. Nothing about the game is interesting or engaging.
It makes me sick to see the HoMM title on such a trashy product. -
SethHDec 6, 2009Even though it's not a horrible game, it's very boring, I was bored with it after the first day. And the game is just too hard if you play against the computer so stressful that the second the game starts you have nothing while the enemy has quadruple your tech and an entire army, they just come in and game over. Never did multiplayer, might be decent.

Sep 10, 2011An utter dissapointment to the Heroes of Might and Magic series. IV wasn't that great, but at least is was good enough to make you keep playing. This is slow, ugly, and boring. Do not buy.

SebastianC.Sep 17, 2006PATHETIC! You gotta wait for the editor, SIX MAPS!, and extremely cheesy graphics, I think this is seriously the end of heroes, no one can stand up again after two KOs. Heroes 4+5 are the end, thank god for Heroes 3 though....

HelenT.May 26, 2006Almost perfect. Almost! If this game had shipped with the map editor and a few small other things, I may have givne it a 9 (it would take something truly astounding to merit a 10). I'm hard on games though, an 8 is something I reserve for the very cream of the crop. Once I have a chance to try that map editor, this may even merit a 9.

You simply have to have the willingness to learn and give this game a chance. If you do this, you will be rewarded with an amazing strategy experience.
-
The biggest failing of Heroes V, which you can almost anticipate from its emphasis on looking so good, is that it's stingy with information.
-
Skeptical Heroes fans, as well as anyone looking for a fun, long-lasting turn-based strategy game, will likely be pleasantly surprised by this one.
