It perfectly captures the essence of “Starship Troopers” movie without quoting it directly. Good gunplay doesn’t hurt either, and a healthy dose of friendly fire chaos brings some spice into the mix. [Issue#263, p.42]

The mission finale is climactic; a frantic last stand awaiting your dropship, enemies pulled in droves towards the beacon, palpable relief if you and your buddies dive through the boarding hatch before your saviour jets from the landing pad. [Issue#396, p.110]

Agreed, 'Helldivers 2' is at times a highly entertaining game. But we did not dare to predict that the game would get off to such a strong start. For that it offers too little depth as far as we are concerned.

Those who love PvE and don't play Helldivers 2 don't realise what they are missing.

Helldivers 2 fully delivers on the primary mission of video games: it's much fun. The game developed by Arrowhead is an apparent rebuke to AAA productions and a lesson about how gameplay mechanics are the most critical part of a video game. It's not a perfect title. It has many areas for improvement and the chance to improve. Community contributions will be key to the medium-and long-term success of Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 is a wonder of game design, irony and fun with friends that is worth its price and has a bright future ahead of it.

Helldivers 2 is an enjoyable third-person shooter game, offering powerful thrills to the four-person teams that take on the defense of the (managed) Democracy!

HELLDIVERS 2 is worth going through hell to experience its gameplay and world, but server issues and glitches will rain on that campaign. Still, there’s nothing quite like diving in, feet first.

Helldivers 2 is a massive success and a breath of fresh air for the entire industry. Arrowhead Game Studios surprises with an exceptional game that delivers an epic cinematic sensation, keeping you on the edge of your seat without any pretensions. All of this is achieved without succumbing to the vices of the industry, where players are often exploited with predatory monetization schemes. This deserves to be celebrated. At the moment, we can only highly recommend Helldivers 2; it is a much-needed triumph in the current gaming landscape.

This is the game that the community needed, with ups and downs in its first days of release and best of all, it has outstanding graphics. Playing it alone is not recommended, but getting together with your colleagues to spend a few good hours without worrying about your surroundings is the best therapy.

Helldivers 2 is an exciting adventure for a group of friends who have long dreamed of immersing themselves in cooperative action and spending time together. Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony worked together to surprise the community, create a very high-quality game and open a portal to an incredibly fun universe.

The novelty of Helldivers 2, like its in-game purpose, is reliant on multiple conditions working together in synergy. Said conditions haven't just been met but surpassed, in less than a month since launch. It's an outstanding achievement, one that has deservedly engulfed the conversation. Yet, the commitment to a live service model comes with compromises. It's the game of the moment, sure, albeit a fleeting one. Only time will tell how long the ships outside your window will stay in orbit — or if there'll even be a server to queue up for.

HELLDIVERS 2 is a fast, fun and funny way to obliterate hordes of bugs. The shooting feels excellent, enemies are varied and challenging, and the simple core loop allows for both tension and hilarity.

Regardless of the early-day technical issues, Helldivers 2 is an absolute blast… When it works. The high-octane, exhilarating, take-no-prisoner approach to fighting off horde after horde of enemies is utterly fantastic. Tight gunplay, excellent coop, varied and rewarding missions, and a fun upgrade system all come together to create a perfect blend of shoot-em-up chaos that I simply can’t get enough of. While server issues continue to be a considerable nuisance, I can’t help but wonder what Arrowhead Game Studios have cooking for Helldivers 2 in the years to come. Now, step forth, Cadet. The day ahead is uncertain without you.

Helldivers 2 is a masterstroke, a sensational sequel to one of my favourite games and an absolute must play for people who enjoy simple, cinematic, and irreverent fun. The shift in perspective, the upgraded graphics and sound design, and the hard lean into satirical humour have launched it easily into one of my favourite games of 2024. I highly recommend that you suit up and hit the Hellpods soldier, I’m doing my part, are you?

It's like living in the Starship Troopers universe: fun, with incredible action and just the right amount of difficulty. A surprise that no one expected and that everyone is glad it happened.

Helldivers 2 is a fantastic co-op game where anything can and will go wrong, thanks to several clever design choices. Calling in orbital bombardments while laying waste to alien swarms and robot armies has never been more fun. However, server capacity remains an ongoing problem for anyone looking to get in.

Y’all know me, I am an optimist, I have high hopes for Skull & Bones and I am sure that Sony will step in and get this resolved and we can all get back to fighting for freedom and democracy together. But in the meantime, if you don’t mind maybe not being able to play when you want, or having random crashes and missing rewards then dive into Helldivers 2. These are all growing pains and can be resolved, at the end of the day this game is blast, made more so when you are playing with friends which is evident if you watch any of our gameplay videos. If you all pick this up and happen to be teamed with ZeroTolerance, just watch ya back because he is all about completing the mission, teammates be damned. LOL.

Helldivers 2 was one of the most talked about games of 2024. It seems that it will continue to be talked about more. What do you expect from a game? Not to get bored even if you play it over and over again.

Helldivers 2 is a brilliant, merciless and precise co-operative shooter. Freedom isn't just a battle cry, it's an authentic motto that guides every moment of its gameplay. The result is a fiendishly addictive mix, capable of keeping anyone hooked on the screen for hours and hours.

Helldivers II provides an exciting, explosive, and tension-filled experience unlike anything else on the market right now. While the game skews any arbitrary grind or level scaling, allowing you to take the game on at any experience level and have the same enjoyable experience. Some questionable progression systems and server issues hold the experience back, but I hope to see the developers address these soon.

Helldivers 2 is a lot of fun, assuming you can get into a match to actually play it with other people. If you’re not interested in the co-op aspect of the game, then it might be a tough sell. You can technically play solo, while still being online, but there are no bots to assist, and the difficulty curve is largely designed to be tackled by multiple people. I can’t guarantee the game would be anywhere near as enjoyable played like this. If you can put up with the current issues and don’t mind another live service game, there’s a lot of fun to be had with Helldivers 2 and it’s very easy to recommend.

Helldivers 2 delivers hilarious fist-clenching moments with rock-solid co-op shooter fundamentals but is held back by repetitive missions.

Helldivers 2 proves a basic ideology: create something special and the players will come. Built on a foundation of cheeky satire and visceral gunplay, this cooperative shooter is engaging, charming, dynamic, and at no point feels greedy or unnecessary. It’s live service done right, with appropriate progression and a feeling of global connection as you fight toward a shared goal. Server issues still impact this game’s release and they aren’t insignificant, yet they are still a mere minor inconvenience when compared to Helldivers 2’s many triumphs.

Helldivers 2 is broken at launch. That much is almost unquestionable. The game has many high highs and also abysmally low lows. While I can recommend it for players who are seeking a good time due to the physics and the wacky situations a group of players can find themselves in at lower difficulties, it also is a tough recommendation for players seeking thrills with challenging yet fair content. That may change in the future if the developers can fix all the bugs and connection problems.

This game is rough around the edges, but those edges are serrated; there’s an authorship to the chaos and slight jank that feels woven together from top to bottom. The systems, humor, structure… every aspect of this game feeds into the other for an experience that nails cohesion. Helldivers 2 plants its flag in the dirt and announces itself with a rare confidence in video games today. Now get out there and serve some piping-hot Liber-Tea, soldier.

Helldivers 2 is a phenomenal spectacle and the ultimate soldier power fantasy.

Helldivers II is a good game that happens to have some current teething problems. Everything — from the perfect satirical tone to the solid gunplay and variety of difficulty levels — create some exciting and satisfying gaming moments. Some of the more military simulation traits generate some tense situations, but they can be humorous moments, too. The microtransactions don't feel too bad in the game's overall scheme. If the connectivity issues can be resolved and stabilized soon, then Helldivers II can be one of the sleeper hits of the first half of 2024.

After more than 30 hours of play, Helldivers II remains devilishly addictive and extremely enjoyable. Although it still requires playing with several people (with friends or strangers) to fully appreciate its value, the game from Arrowhead Game Studios simply stands out as the best cooperative experience of the moment. If you've always dreamed of playing a mix between Starship Troopers and Terminator and want to be able to fight against hordes of enemies with great blasts from large calibers and orbital cannons, there's a good chance that you'll spend a excellent moment on Helldivers II. And while it may not seem like it at first glance, the game can even require a lot of strategy and restraint on the highest difficulty modes. If I would have liked slightly more solid servers and some additional finishes, I am already looking forward to knowing what the future of Helldivers II will hold. Regardless, I am immediately returning to fight for democracy and freedom. Long live Super-Earth!

In the ever-crowded live-service shooter landscape, Helldivers 2 manages to carve out a place for itself with its fun narrative tone, punchy combat, intense firefights, and rewarding progression track. Helldivers 2 has plenty of tense moments against gargantuan bugs and hulking tank-like machines, but the entire experience is largely meant to make you feel good and have a laugh with friends, a refreshing notion for how darkly serious most major shooters are today. This provides Helldivers 2 with a sensation of potential longevity and lasting power I haven't felt from most new live-service games in recent years. Helldivers 2 is just a really good time, and it banks on that being enough to convince you to stick around for a long time. Frankly, I'm sold--it's the most fun I've had in a new shooter in years.

What is most refreshing about Helldivers 2 is not just the fact that it’s an incredibly fun game, but that Arrowhead managed to grow in scope without losing its identity: this is, without question, a game made by the same people who created Magicka so many years ago. At present state, however, Helldivers 2 suffers from some stability issues, and employs an invasive anticheat.

Server issues aside, Helldivers 2 is a bombastic, strategically engaging and funny squad shooter.

Helldivers 2 is an excellent co-op shooter, that sadly doesn't really build on its predecessor and instead puts a lot of the original content on a live-service road map. While the core gameplay is among the best of the genre, corporate greed ironically has sunken its claws deep into Super-Earth and the premium battle pass hides some of the most fun weapons and powerful armour behind a paywall, with more to come in the future.

With its high-chaos, high-comedy firefights, Helldivers 2 is a riot to play with friends – although its launch has been hampered by persistent matchmaking and progression problems.

Helldivers 2 is a fiercely challenging and visually breathtaking cooperative shooter where failure is funny and success feels magnificent. However, bugs and server issues hindered the initial experience, while there's a sense the game's full potential is yet to be realized.

Helldivers 2 keeps kicking me in the rear end, and I can't help but respect it. Visiting its warzones often feels like a one-way trip, to the point where I'm surprised to make it through. My group chats are awash with war stories of hard-fought victories and those times I dropped an airstrike on my head. And through all of the chaos, like a grizzled veteran who's seen some s**t, I've got a smile on my face every time I drop.

Helldivers 2, then: It's blunt, but very, very good, combining moments of unbridled panic with epochal triumphs. It's simply an exercise in barely controlled chaos. Arrowhead knows how to bring you dangerously close to the threshold of being overwhelmed every few meters and then give you a friendly pat on the back.

Despite the bold genre change, Helldivers 2 has successfully maintained the core enjoyment of its predecessor. The uncontrolled battlefield, incidents that make you laugh uncontrollably, and the thrill of victory make the game worth playing, even with the acceptance of crashes and glitches.

Arrowhead Game Studios has really managed to deliver a great fun game with Helldivers 2.

Overall, Helldivers 2 is a decent co-op game. It's simple, easy to play and quick to get into. Maybe it's not a AAA title by any means and don't expect a story, cutscenes, top graphics, but the gameplay here is good and at the same time the price is quite low.

Helldivers 2 delivers on the promise of chaotic fun through superior firepower. Whether you’re slaying enemies with your friends or slaying your friends while enemies are also present, if you’ve got the crew, this is a guaranteed good time.

A game that has more bugs than it intended but still produces a standout experience. Helldivers 2 gives scale and gravitas to alien warfare in good old-fashioned multiplayer fun.

Helldivers 2 is yet another example of a rushed launch, characterized by unstable servers and an abundance of technical errors. However, despite these shortcomings, it manages to be entertaining to a certain extent. Its biggest weakness lies in the lack of diversified content, which leads to monotony in no time.
