Between its friendly design and its flexible approach to a free-to-play economy, Hearthstone has successfully pulled me into a genre that I didn't care about in the least. But even more incredibly, it's kept me rapt longer than any games I've played in years, and shows no signs of letting up.

Blizzard's first Free to Play-game offers depth without becoming complex. It takes players seriously and is very playable without spending (a lot of) money. Atmosphere, speed and great sound effects make for fast yet satisfying games, where luck and tactics go hand in hand.

Hearthstone is a wonderful game. Nostalgic, simple and best of all: fun. This is the best online collectible card game you can play. Just be careful how much you spend in it.

Hearthstone, the newest card game from Blizzard, will keep you hooked for hours thanks to the amazing presentation and the tactical, deep gameplay. This is free to play done right.

Simple rules, high production values, low system requirements and huge tactical freedom make Hearthstone one of the best card games available. And if you take into account the free-to-play model – it’s the best one. [05/2014, p.62]

One of the best free-to-play games on the market because you can actually play this one for free and have a good time while doing so. It is easy to learn and fun to master. [Apr 2014]

Hearthstone is a well-executed and fun card game, one which lives the “easy to learn, hard to master” mantra to the utmost.

It is extremely fun though, even losing is enjoyable to me and I can't wait for Blizzard to start expanding upon the game.

For what it is now, I give it a 10/10 for being a well balanced and extremely fun game with enough depth to last for quite a while.

A bunch of legendaries or epics won't win you a single game, because in order to use them right you need some know-how and skill. HOWEVER if you do play with a solid mixture of basic and easy to obtain expert cards, you can beat even legendary decks.

The game itsself lacks some of the tactical depth of MTG (which obviously was role model for this game)
but also purges the gameplay of unnecessary aspects that take speed out of matched (beeing landflodded etc). Balancing is well done. Sound is nice. Graphics are Ok.
    In short: I like it.

Let's see if Blizzard comes with some options to give their players long term motivation apart from getting all important cards or becoming a legendary ranked player.

If you're a gamer, you'll want to stay away from this. Boredom is the word of the day.

This game is little better than playing "war" as a child. The game design is such that there is no thought required. Flip a card, you win. Flip a card, you lose. If you'd like to win more? Buy cards.

Simple as the game is, people still take exorbitant amounts of time to end their turns. It's actually quite boring watching players fumble thru their turn. A successful strategy for playing this game requires you to actually have something else to do at the same time. Fortunately, there's so little thought required that you can easily multitask.

The fan boys who valiantly defend this game will be upset with me, I'm a gamer. Masters in SC2. 12-2, 12-0 Hearthstone Arena in my 1st month. This game is boring.

Once you've learned how to play, The imbalance of the cards, the non-existence of MMR, and flaws in the design of a pay-to-win card game will be evident. Once you've realized the similarity to the children's card game "war," you'll see how bad this game really is.

If you enjoy mindless games that take forever, sign up. If you enjoy being frustrated to the point of purchasing cards, sign up. This is surely what is in store for you.

I've made it to legend several times peaking at rank 6 legend (top 6 in a region), but today, I am quitting this game.

Hearthstone is slot machine hidden behind the title of a card game. Look at the remarkable resemblance to a slot machine for the queuing animation https://youtu.be/dEinLIA45rE?t=3194 .They pamper you with daily quests, lively animation and music and seasonal rewards but it's all a facade to get you hooked from the start. As time passes, you cease to play this game for fun. It becomes some machine you grind gold out of or some crucible that you put yourself through every season for the title of legend or rank 5. Most of the long-term players share such sentiments. They log on, farm their quests, play a few games, get infuriated and log off. It all sounds so counter-intuitive. As you new player, all you longed for was a competitive collection. But it takes years or hundreds of dollars to gain such. As a veteran, you grow more weary of the game every day and remain in perpetual hope that the next DLC will change something but it never does. There is only torment and despair to be found here

Hearthstone is an addiction not a game. Save yourself the trouble of being shackled to this game and look elsewhere.
