Apr 21, 2015Although this genre's been done to death, Harold's inspired levels, imaginative mechanics, eye-popping presentation, endless charm, and steep challenge separate it from the pack. It's only that latter element that crosses the line, sometimes making Harold more frustrating than fun.
-
Apr 19, 2015Cool concept, but Harold is too monotonous to entertain. Just three gameplay modes (including the tutorial), no level editor, very few interactive objects.
-
Mar 29, 2015It would be easy to write Harold off as a mobile game out of its depth, and I'd be lying if I said the basic concept of the game doesn't scream out for touch controls—it would certainly be the most intuitive way to play. That issue aside, Harold's charming visuals and comical tone may come across as deceptively simplistic, but it offers depth and challenge to those who make it past the slow pace of the first few levels.
-
Mar 19, 2015Harold is one of those games where if you don’t like steep difficulty curves, you’ll likely want to stay away from it. If you can get past that though, Harold does provide a pretty good challenge even in the early going and really tests your reflexes as the races get harder and you have to multitask even more obstacles.
-
Mar 12, 2015Harold is enjoyable enough, but the omnipresent AI, kindergarten story and the unshakable feeling of being unconquerable ruin the experience.
-
Mar 11, 2015There's a good game in Harold. The frantic pace at which environmental manipulation can be done and its use in sabotaging the competition breathes some life into an otherwise straightforward genre.
-
Feb 25, 2015This is a fun, pretty and polished game.
-
Feb 23, 2015The gameplay itself is complex and enjoyable, but the lack of consistency in the controls will drive more hardcore players nuts. Still, it’s almost worth buying for the gorgeous art and animation alone, and I can’t deny that it put a smile on my face.
-
Feb 20, 2015A guardian angel game that is devilishly challenging.
-
Feb 20, 2015Between its charming premise, beautiful graphics, and demanding gameplay, Harold is a winner in the end. Players who appreciate auto-running platform games should find it to be a fresh approach to the concepts found in such titles and a worthy challenge.
-
Feb 18, 2015A cute racing game where instead of racing, you are forced to protect an incompetent runner. A tough task for a guardian angel and a difficult and challenging game that manages to entertain if you can afford it's difficulty.
-
Feb 16, 2015Harold is a fun game for fans of the continuous runner genre, and against all odds it actually manages to take such a simple genre and build on it in a genuine and unique manner. It has a fairly steep learning curve, but despite taking on the role of an angel, the ability to hinder opponents is actually devilish fun.
-
Feb 16, 2015Visually stunning, taking advantage of an amazing soundtrack, Harold feels like Heaven to watch. And the 12 tracks from this 2D runner are perfectly tailored, feel unique and demand a lot of reflexion and reflex actions that hardcore - or really stubborn - gamers will fully enjoy. For people who don't have time to face its progressive but unforgivable difficulty and don't see themselves fighting for a good rank on leaderboards, it will probably feel like Hell. Still, this unique game will definitely reward perseverance.
-
Feb 15, 2015I would recommend Harold only to those people who love trial and error games, have nerves of steel and are fond of testing them. They are probably the ones who will find the game fun and interesting.
-
Feb 15, 2015Harold is nice to look at and has a novel hook to its gameplay, but its trial-and-error heavy mechanics will definitely turn some off.
-
Feb 15, 2015Platforming fans will find this game difficult to resist, as Harold draws you in with gorgeous visuals and accessible gameplay. But be warned – once you're in, it turns up the heat.
-
Feb 12, 2015Harold is certainly enjoyable to look at, and occasionally is fun to play. The high difficulty level and forced practice sections keep it a strictly middle of the road experience though.
