that is if you can actually follow what’s going on…
Something about AI gone wrong and you have to save the city they occupy...
    I’m not even sure...
If you’re playing Hard Reset you’re playing for the gameplay…
And this game can be great fun at times…
You get 3 weapons in this game... a rifle...a plasma gun, and later a katana…
But both the rifle and the plasma gun all have 5 variations that you can unlock as you collect xp from secrets or just by killing enemies...
As you progress through the game your meter will fill up and give you a skill point to spend on either a new weapon, a weapon upgrade, or gear upgrade…
And these weapon upgrades are really all there is to keep the game feeling fresh and ultimately what keeps it even the slightest bit engaging…
There are a few enemy variants that you can take down with any weapon, but you’ll clearly fall in love with one weapon type to deal with a certain enemy over another, for example I like using the shotgun on explosive enemies.. And I loved using the katana on pretty much everything else.
I easily had the most fun with the katana... but the fact that I had a favorite weapon for every enemy type tells you a lot about how much weapon variety actually matters in this game…
That is such a refreshing feeling, where I feel like in most first person shooters I can get away with anything and it doesn’t matter… but here it does
unfortunately after you’ve played with all of the variants for a while, the game really starts to get boring and feels like it drags out way too long…
Hard Resets biggest issue is hands down the level design…
Every levels is activating switches while you kill everything between you and the switch…
And every level really looks nearly identical…
and honestly without having known that the game would be the same throughout, I was already unimpressed the moment the game started, as It looked like a dated bargain bin game
Its gray and boring, but there are some cool nail-biting sections towards the end of the game if you can manage to drag yourself through 7 hours of the same thing to get there…
You practically see all there is to see in level 1, minus a few boss fights thrown in there…
Hard Reset Redux offers a great deal of fun with its weapon variety,
But if you don’t like feeling like you’re stuck in a demo level for 8 hours, you’re better off looking for your fun elsewhere
I give Hard Reset Redux a

This game led the old school FPS charge back in 2011 when no other dev dared, and the upgraded version doesn't disappoint. Has more creative weapon design and upgrade system than the new Doom, along with wonderfully atmospheric levels.

This game is a breath of fresh air. I picked up on sale as I was looking for a good old-fashioned, not complicated, shooter. I was disappointed with the new Wolfensteins and was looking for something with more action, some skill but not too much brainwork. BINGO!

The graphics and sound are just about acceptable (for this day and age), but the basic shooty gameplay is just right for

Great FPS with interesting environment mechanics and weapons. Solid story and looks good, worth a look at a cheap price and good for fun 4-5 hours.

The weapon variety is excellent and the shooting is spot on and challenging thanks to cluttered environments and frantic enemy encounters.

For weapons, there are two to begin with, a conventional machine gun and an automatic energy weapon. as you gain upgrades those weapons gain new modes; turning the machine gun into a rocket launcher or the energy gun into a rail gun for sniping and doing heavy damage to targets. the animations for switching modes is nice and gives you a sense of action and purpose.

Enemies come in several types ranging from small two legged hopping melee attackers to re-purposed human bodies infused with mechanical parts (I can't tell if they are actually alive or just used as shells for the machines).

Difficulty: depending on your personal level of familiarity with shooters is going to determine your level of challenge. Easy mode is pretty challenging if FPS games are not your usual forte and difficulty is modulated by number of enemies, their toughness and their damage output. On the hardest setting, the game is sheer chaos and should only be attempted if you want a serious challenge.

All is not wine and roses, however. The level design is sometimes confusing and/or repetitive and the enemy spawns can be a little "cheaty" at certain points. Aside from that, I really enjoyed my time with the game.

I still have no idea what kind of story the game was supposed to tell, but I know that shooting robots is fun.

    Unnecessary version of the game.

This version of the game has worse graphics than the original, as well as some of the additions to this version are useless, like the katana. This version of the game also has bugs that have not been addressed yet. If you're interested in playing this otherwise good FPS, then the original game is a much better option, with better graphics and

AMAZING! Absolutely fantastic game, with stunning visuals, and more importantly, a very defined and beautiful cyberpunk artstyle and enviroment. There is really nothing objectively "bad" with this game, the gameplay is frenetic, fast paced, the shooting is solid an feels great, beautiful graphics, and a meh story, but the other aspects more than make up for it. My only complaints would be the following: 1) Sometimes the graphical effects (specially lens flare and bloom) can be just too much, and can actually impair your ability to see the surroundings, I did not find a way to completely turn those effects off without messing witht the feel of the game. 2) The enemy hit boxes (and yours, for that matter) are inconsistent, sometimes you would swear a projectile hit an enemy, but nope, it just grazed its body so it doesnt count. Also you have a huge hitbox and somehits you swear you dashed away from, connect.
All my complaints and problems with this game are offset by the fact that it cost me $1.66 on a sale, less than I normally spend on my damned lunch, now that is value! Thank you Flying Wild Hog, now on to Shadow Warrior 2013!

Doom in cyberpunk style. Not bad storyline and very dynamic gameplay. I enjoyed it.

"Neither fish nor fowl". For some time I tried to play it, but very quickly all this dances of light and iron bothered to the complete absence of any interest. Too flat plot, too flat game-play. The authors apparently relied solely on fireworks and the grinding of bullets on iron. No it's not interesting to see only special effects in the game.

Some of the guns were fun but the story was nil. Only some short picture stories. Movement wasn't great. Below average game I think.

Just above "Hard Reset" wich wasn't a good game
The main problems is that there is no mini-map, you can't zoom-aim, and ou don't know where to go half of the time...

The regenerating armour and ammo trivializes the difficulty. The game is littered with health and ammo pickups to make it even easier. There are about 7 enemy types, but the only ones to watch out for are the 2 big ones that do half your health bar damage in one hit. The others are just a nuisance, because you know a health refill will drop any second.

There are 12 levels, each about 20 mins long. 7 base game levels + 5 dlc levels. All the levels are completely linear. They do have "secrets" which amount to checking behind the corner for money pick ups. Money is used to buy new weapons and upgrade stats. 10 weapons in total, but I found myself only using 4.

Keep in mind the Redux version includes an overpowered dash and sprint feature which removes any challenge whatsoever from the game. I'd highly recommend to refrain from using these new abilities.

A low-budget but solid arena shooter that drops superfluous mechanics for the sake of fast-paced gameplay. [08/2016, p.57]

Even with some slight adjustments to the formula, Hard Reset still holds up quite well. Rebalances and small improvements in the Redux version are life-savers, making it one of the most satisfying shooters of 2016.

If you had not a chance to play the original one, you could have a great time enjoying Redux. There are a few additions, but visuals overhaul are not so impressive and the game feels a bit dated nowadays.
