This game is everything I thought it would be. It has no subscription which is just outright amazing for the quality of the game! Easy 8/10! Great MMO!

Best MMO nowadays as far as I'm concerned, and maybe the one that respects the most the money you invest. There really nothing wrong with Guild Wars 2, and it amuses me that a good game like that had come from NCSoft.

The game is dying, it used to be great but not now.
    Pros:
    * It's casual and "poor" friendly - If you want to play an mmorpg while working full time, this is the best, and if you can't afford a monthly sub, this is it! * Till Living World Season 4 - It has best features and story is alright. * New player friendly - New players can get to high levels easily now, plus free to play players

    * Till Living World Season 4 - It has best features and story is alright.
    * New player friendly - New players can get to high levels easily now, plus free to play players could also experience a lot of good contents.

    Cons:
    * Story - It went real bad after lws4, I don't understand how another country's political problems are a concern for a foreigner(Us), We discover a new land and somehow got involved into their politics (EoD). Apart from story, the scripts have gone bad too, it felt like written by teenagers, the story plots weren't as immersing as it was for PoF.
    * Content - Not being a monthly sub game, it finally took a toll on them, since there aren't much (or any) new content to put out, they can't sell their expansions like before. EoD is an example of how they tried to sell what little they had. Now they changed to mini expansions (5 bucks less).
    * Politics - I don't want to get into details, but like any other American entertainment industry, they went political. Funny thing, they sold a "political inclusion" and didn't make it look like one, but lately it's changed.

Is it worth to buy/play it?
Short term - Yes! Go for it. It's worth every penny (till lws4).
Long term - Probably not, unless they bring good story later on then go for it (maybe new features too).

It's great for the first 100-200 hours or so. You're out in a massive well-crafted world exploring, helping people, and slaying various creatures. The maps are large and detailed and they feel alive due to the living world system.
Then, suddenly you reach max level, and it simply starts to get old - and not for a good reason. The tasks simply become far too repetitive and formulaic.

Then, suddenly you reach max level, and it simply starts to get old - and not for a good reason. The tasks simply become far too repetitive and formulaic. Endless thinly-veiled fetch quests, move from point A to point B, click this button here, talk to this guy there. In addition to that, there is artificial difficulty in the form of things simply taking TOO DAMN LONG! What should be a regular mid-boss ends up having a health bar that takes 7 whole minutes to slowly whittle down using the repetitive button-mashy combat wherein you simply cycle through all your abilities without much thought. And yes, I am using the meta DPS build and rotations. It feels like ****
I understand its an MMO, but it feels like an absolute slog to play at times. Other games keep longer harder boss fights engaging by having good mechanics and satisfying combat. Multiple phases, skill checks, etc.
With GW2? Yeah let's just make this boss "harder" by giving him 5x the health he should have. Forget good mechanics, forget satisfying gameplay.

Very strange mechanics, like turret sections where you have to press the number keys to move and shoot the turret, or escort missions where you have to stand right next to but also slightly ahead of the NPC at all times to get them to move. TERRIBLE story progression. All that happens is you meet a few new characters, they die or betray you, and the other characters (most of whom have no personality beyond their fantasy race) are surprised. Then you beat the main boss by hopping on a turret and spamming 1 for 5 minutes straight.

After peaking ahead at some story content for the "Path of Fire" expansion, it does seem like their writing ability and use of mechanics gets better over time. But the base game is so atrocious and skippable, please do yourself a favor and just skip all the cutscenes. You don't need to know anything besides the Jolly Green Giant guy is the main hero for apparently no reason. That's it.

Everything you do in the game gives you experience which means you can level up however you want.
The zones are breathtaking and with the implementation of dx11 they are even better now.
There is fishing now and is one of the best fishing games in MMO I have seen.
The raids, fractals, dungions, strikes are very challenging and fun.
The PvP (5v5) and WvW (80vs80vs80) are great way for you to compete with others.
There is no boring questing where you need to talk to someone and then go back to return the quest, you just do your thing in the open world and you get rewarded via the mail when you help the guy in that specific area.
The friendliest community I have ever seen.
Everywhere you go there are waypoints that when you unlock them you can travel to them from the map whenever you are.
The loot system is not shared, everyone gets what he deserves, the drop is personal. The experience is personal, The kills are personal. Everyone helps one another because they win from helping you.
There is a downed system, where you fight for your life.
    The crafting system is awesome.
    Everyone can res everyone.
    Everyone can heal everyone.
The profession class you choose depends only from your play-style and nothing more.
There are 12 mounts in the game and every mount does its own thing that helps you traverse the terain and they feel awesome!
The best gear you get can take few weeks to get but after that you can use it forever because there is no gear treadmill. Max level is 80 and after you level up you just have fun. Do your thing. Explore, fight, gather, craft, fill objectives, command a squad, help people, roleplay, etc. The options are limitless and some people are afraid of that.
Legendaries are a long term goal that for a single legendary it can take months or a year even. Legendaries can be armors, weapons, trinkets, backitems, sigils, runes. They are quality of life items that enables you to swap stats or change visual effect of the item without the need of transmutation charge.
The gem store is the way that the game can get some cash from the player but you can buy everything from the gem store, converting gold to gems from the shop. At some point because the game doesn't have fee, you'll feel guilty for playing so much without giving money, so you'll start buying stuff just because of gratitude. Only the expansions are payed but buying Path of Fire, gives you free Heart of Thorns expansion. End of Dragons expansion just released and is super strong, everyone loves it.

    3. zero QoL updates. Absolutely zero for a game that is out 11 years now. Finished a quest? you need to go back to deliver it. In other mmos you get your reward and continue playing, not here. here you must go back to deliver your quest and go back to wherever you were. nice

    4. Mounts are the worst i ever seen. So heavy and cumbersome

    5. said mounts are in steps. The first mount runs, the second jumps a bit higher, the third hovers on water, the fourth glides, and the fifth flies a bit better :D see what they did here?

    6. No option to hide other peoples magic effects-cosmetics etc. obviously this game was not done for raiding, the term wow rejects has some basis here

7.Progress is horizontal, this means that if you play 3 years and go back to starter areas you are still weak. This has led to expansion areas being empty. Good luck finding help to kill x-y-z boss or anyone to help you qith quests. Everyone is at tyria, no one at expansions

8.The game is structured in such a way that you make zero gold to be forced to pay to buy gold.

    9. If you want to raid you must play specidif builds. No matter what they tell you. If you dont do enough dps you dont raid. simple as that

    10. Classes are boring and weird. Rogue with staff? mage with sword? ranger with double daggers?

And a ton of other fails i could mention here but dont take my word, go play the free version and make up your mind. Imma head back to wow, the true king. Other mmos should copy what wow does if they want money

Overall the storytelling is ok-ish. I've seen better, I've seen worse.
The quality of the patches got worse and worse with every release. The content feels like the same thing over and over again. Most things you do ingame are not rewarding at all. For players that spend a longer time ingame there is simply not enough to do. What do I mean by that? Let me tell you what my playtime looks like: Mondays I jump in the game, just to do the weekly raid reclears in like 2 hours (raids, that have been in the game for years. The release of the last raidwing is more than a year ago...) Some evenings I do a quick fractal run which cant keep my group entertained for more than 30 minutes. Farming at this point is pointless - you cant progress gear and I dont want to build duplicate legendaries. But Arenanet stated - against what players want - that there will be no more dungeons and as far as I know no more raids. Content draught which gets me to stop playing.

And lastly the cashshop: What started off as some nice cosmetic rewards got a dump of putting new stuff in every other week just to earn more and more money. This isnt bad in itself, but selling CHAIRS? The shop got quite ridicculous...

TL;DR So all in all: A game that started off good a while ago, but cant deliver any content that keeps you playing. To top all of this off the content that is currently in the game is severely bugged. Content in the game keeps you doing stuff for max ~4h/week if you clear all of it.

It had breathtaking and imaginative landscapes. This was further expanded on with vistas on the map being interactable showing what was probably the art team's vision of certain maps. The in game soundtrack also has songs I've actually looked for and listened to as background music when I was studying or doing other hobby work. The characters and voice acting does a stellar job of immersing yourself in the world(albeit the main VA's do a lot of background characters so sometimes it can break immersion). The B2P model in this game seems fair although I wish there was incentive to buy larger quantities of credits as there is no bonus for buying larger credit bundles.. that's just my take on it though, the dye does seem TOO pricey though. I also really like the story and got invested into it more than most MMO's. I personally really liked having Rytlock, Canach, and Taimi around. PoF was a breath of fresh air from this game. I tried it out on a whim and it really sold me on the game when the initial release was so underwhelming.. and HoT(Heart of Thorns) didn't garner any interest whatsoever. Honestly it's a stroke of genius the way they handle leveling and expansions. You have a max level and afterwards there are masteries for the content, think of them as additional benefits that give you utility and survivability in the expansions. The way they handled mounts is also great, I really love this system. There's also dynamic map events that are really cool, I've participated in the ones in the HoT area and would recommend people check out.

So after all this I imagine most people are wondering "Well, why the low score?" and to that the answer is simple. At the end of the day this game is an MMORPG and it should play like one. I've always HATED the combat. A lot of people defend it saying it's the best of the genre. Imagine doing world quests in WoW, killing the mobs you need, then afterwards when you go to loot the mobs your character decides to auto attack another pack when you're at low hp and then you die. Idk why your character queues up auto attacks when your current target is dead, this is a huge oversight. Also unlike WoW where your character can auto target nearby hostile or only auto attacks mobs that are targeted, this one will just auto target mobs like 80 yds away. It seems like these people and myself are playing 2 entirely different games. There are monsters that fall into normal, bronze, silver, gold, and then boss quality. Some of the mobs in the game are normal(looking at you LWS2&3 and HoT mobs) that are as difficult as silver quality mobs. Silver quality mobs are like impossible for the normal person to solo. I feel like this game has a lot of BS moments where there was nothing I could do in the fight to guarantee my survival.. and I mean vs regular mobs, not even special boss mobs. Unlike in WoW where you fight a group of mobs, and it's uncommon for a group to chain CC you.. in this game you pull a group, every one of them is going to CC you and YOU WILL DIE. I know it makes the game "more challenging" but it also amounts to having a very poor player experience. The combat in the game is very janky overall, very akin to the trash combat in ESO.

Yes, you can buy gold. You can choose to grind days for a legendary item, or... You can deliver pizzas IRL for a few hours and spend some EUR to buy said legendary item. You can spend money in the game, so you have to play the game less!

And you should. As the economy is, and always was, and will be, in complete shambles. Meaning, that 99.9% of all items are sold for vendor price on the auction house.

Professions are really boring, and besides their forced and stale "legendary and ascended item crafting" "feature" there is nothing interesting about them.

Items in general are ridiculously bland and dumb. There is almost no gear progression. Once you hit lvl80 (and you should not grind 1-80, just pay around 30 EUR for a lvl80 boost!) you can buy the second best gear for only a few gold. After that you may get a legendary or ascended gear, which is only a few percent stronger than the starting gear. In other words: LOOT IS MEANINGLESS in this game, as you'll never ever find equipment that is an upgrade for you.

The world might seem big, but - and I am NOT exaggerating - they are pretty much the same area copy pasted on each other with the same textures and layout. Almost all areas contain the exact same mobs, doing the exact same thing (mostly nothing, really). The developers have less creativity than a 3 year old.

The game is ugly, even for a 9 year old MMO. If you spend some money on the cash shop you can look alright, and some boss monsters look nice, but generally the whole world and the enemies your fight and the loot you wear is U-G-L-Y.

The game is not new player friendly AT ALL. If you start to play this game then for the first hundred or so hours will be spent googling and reading wikis, as the game doesn't teach you anything at all.

Classes are really boring and badly designed except for a small handful of specs. Abilities are pathetic and you only have a tiny few of them. There is no balance either.

Everyone, even PvPers agree that PvP is one of the worst in all MMOs. The game mode is pretty much abandoned by the devs and also by the players - population is really, really stow. There are bots, afkers, win traders in almost all games. The meta is stale, and the class imbalance is nowhere close this big in other MMOs. The matchmaker mixes together everyone from all rank brackets.

PvP has a big brother called Realm vs Realm. Think Alterac Valley just bigger and dumber and abandoned by the devs.

The reward loops are super awful in the game. If you are looking for some of the MMORPG looops, GW2 has almost none of them.

The game incentivises one player having multiple accounts.

The community is quite anti-social and autistic.

The developers don't care, they never did, and never had any talent to make MMORPGs.

Two things are nice in this game:
Fractals (a sort of PvE dungeons)
Music -> The composer, Jeremy Soule was metood from the company, so you will not hear from him again.

If you thought it would be boring to adventure on this large map, you are wrong!! Because in this game, when you reach a certain level, you can complete quests that will gives you a riding animal called that makes your adventure is very amazing. For example, griffins that can fly you through the vast world of the game, raptors that bring you to walk around with high-speed and the stingray that in this game are called skimmer that can bring you adventure underwater. Collecting level in this game for me is a lot of fun because it has a unique leveling system unlike any other game and very freedom. If you feel that doing quests in other games that quests will have the same loop and same pattern, that is something that will never happen in Guild Wars 2 for sure, cause this game has many quests for players to choose. The monsters in the game have different habitats according to the map and there are many different types of them, which will make your quest and your adventures more wonderful. Battles are more tactical, skillful, and very fun than any other MMO too. The interesting thing about this game is not just the gameplay but also the story of the game. Playing this game for me is no different from watching a good movie because the story is rich and interesting. So, if you are looking for a MMO game to play, you shouldn't miss out on Guild Wars 2!!! I really want to love GW2, but being forced to play those mentally retarded quests makes me want to puke, and throw the laptop into the wall...
This "quest" was made 8 years ago. They had 8 years to make it reasonable. They could not be bothered to fix it... That is why I have to give it low score.
Shame, but it has to be done. For the future of the game itself. If they can't fix one thing for years, then you cant trust them with anything.

Fantastic MMORPG for people that want a break from traditional gear treadmill. Community is very nice (except PUGs). For veteran players there is not much to do now, all the interesting game modes like PVP or WvW are basically the same since years, Anet simply forgot about them. If you are new player, you have hundreds of hours before you so enjoy.

    - Fractals which are the deleveloped Options to Dungeons
    - Dungeons which are nice for the first time but ArenaNet never upgrade it in the whole time...so the Final Loot is...and you can more or less easy Solo the Dungeon with a Hearth of Thrones / Path of Fire Expansion Build
    - Raids which are not too hard in all, but you still need alot of "know how"
    - World vs. World where you can fight against other Servers in a big Map to Control Sectors
    - PvP, like..hey: PvP :)
    ____________________
    Templates for Gear and Skills
    - Before ArenaNet take over there was a Free way to save Builds+Gear by a Programm called ArcDPS, now ArenaNet have there own System and its....
You start with 2 Gearslot, 3 Skillslots, but each Class has a Condition Build, Phsysical Damage, Heal, Tank, Support Builds and for Raids you need different Gear and Skills as in Fractals or for Open World, also World vs World is different...so if you want to play it little bit more as a Weekendend Hobby you need to spend ~7€ for EACH Slot on EACH Character to a max of 5 Slots. Otherwise you need to spend alot of time to switch the Gear all the time one by one. This was a great idea, but more or less its behind a paywall to get a good comfort for your Character.
    - Also a point that is good and bad at once: The Gear, if you are Level 80 you cant get better Gear after the Ancient Gear which is pretty easy to craft after 2-3 Month Playtime. So its very nice if you want to take a break, come back later and you dont need to upgrade the whole Gear again, but that also means that you need your own goals for the Game to set, without it can get boring very fast!
    So keep this in Mind.

    Positive:

    + Good solid Story
+ Content for a Year if you want to explore the Maps, Story's, see any Content and find all the little Secrets in the World etc
+ No pay to win, just many COMFORT Items like Unlimited Harvest Tools etc

    Negative
    - Map-Lags for Paid Content, but instead of fix this issues they are more interested to bring new Content (what means they dont care realy about !!!in my Opinion!!!)
    - You need to set up your own goals to still have fun after round about a half year when you finished the Story, get your Gear etc
    - Dungeons are realy fine and nice, but are no challenge after reach Level 80
    - Few Maps are realy hard to explore until you get a Mount!

The story updates in Living World S4 were incredible and something I looked forward to. However now the storylines are dull, hardly much thought put into them, and all they do is give us meaningless rewards we don't need, plus a giant map with a meta that gets nerfed almost immediately. It's incredibly hard to earn decent gold in this game unless you know every trick and devote all your time to doing everything. They make expensive gem store items as the focus of their monetization. Premium skins are 1,600 to 2,000 gems while normal skins are worth about 400 gems each. 800 gems costs 10$ USD so a skin priced at 2,000 gems is worth about 30$ to them. That's expensive! 30$ for a game skin or food? Everything is paywalled to some extent. Need a previous episode? 200 gems please! Want to switch servers? 500+ gems please! Not to mention the developers have ignored WvW so much that it's nearly unplayable. They gave us a mount to draw people in, only to have them leave once they obtained the mount. Waste of time, waste of materials, and waste of effort. WvW is dying as a result of the neglect, and I think this game only has 3 years left before it ultimately succumbs and shuts down. I've been playing MMOs for over 10 years, I've seen the signs before and GW2 is a sinking ship because of the developers neglecting the players and the changes we truly need to see. Their response? Working on 3rd expansion instead of what we wanted. That's their answer to everything. So, play the game now while you can, because I'll be shocked if it lasts more than 3-5 years from now. Expand

Story is surprisingly good for an MMO. Each race have diffrent begining of their personal story, then it becomes the same for each race but there is a twist, there are 3 diffrent "teams" you can join, each of them continue the story in a slightly diffrent way. It's rare to see a story that isn't completly linear in MMO.

I've played the Guild Wars series for a long time (2000+ hours) and I consider it to be one of the leading MMORPG's for me. For a game of this level, that's now been made free to the public - you can't go wrong.

    STORYLINE:
GW2 has a fairly large level cap (80) that doesn't make the main story feel like a grind-fest. There's 5 races to choose from and with 8 professions to choose from (9 if you have DLC). Choose your characters path and their life up to this point and prepare for a decent character development narrative. Customise your character's outfit from armour pieces found in the world or bought from the in-game store. Individually change the dye of a certain piece of armour, hide that awful helmet/ shoulder piece you only are wearing for stats and put a fancy skin on your sword, it's time for an adventure.

Want to take a break from the main campaign? Take on of the many side quest to gather experience for your character on the map, you might be rewarded with coin, an illustrious item or maybe some lore. Don't want to do side quests and want to farm bosses instead? You can join groups on trains to farm world bosses for that sweet loot! Your adventure is what you make of it.

    COMPANIONS:
Whether you are playing with friends or whether you are playing solo, there's a high chance that you'll encounter a NPC character - be it in the main campaign or a world event. These companions have fairly decent AI and will assist you in your battles. Some may even provide some world lore for you, immersing you into the game. As for representation, there are LGBTQ characters throughout the game who you can interact with.

    WORLD DESIGN:
Guild Wars 2 has a massive map for you to explore, from the bustling cities to volcanos, mountain ranges to plagued beaches. The area in which your in is vast and expansive for you to explore without it feeling too restrictive. Sometimes this is a downside, especially if you need to cross the map to get to a mission - it's going to take a hot minute.

In regards to lore, the lore is vast and plenty. Some of it relates to the first game, which may be a downside if you haven't played GW1 before but most of it can be found in-game from NPC's or books. If it isn't in there, consult the GW2 wiki as it's probably on there.

    TRANSPORT:
If you don't have the DLC content (Path of Fire/Heart of Thorns), your main mode of transport is waypoints and your trusty feet. If you do have the DLC content, take a look at gliders and mounts as an interesting way to travel. Want to fly on a flying carpet after you jumped off a cliff? You can do that. Want a giant red boar instead? You can do that too.
Tired of the glider and want something to spice it up? Take a ride on a raptor! Take to the skies on a Griffon! Bounce with the Springer!

    CONTENT:
Sometimes, you have to wait for a new expansion to be released if you have finished the campaign - which limits what you can do if you are a story-driven player. There's also the possibility of some quite heavy bugs that will affect the new release, which will impact gameplay (ie, not being able to progress through a certain part, character's being unable to interact with a certain item etc) and can be annoying.

There are many ways to have an adventure in Guild Wars. Play to your heart's content.

Don't listen to the nerds, fanbois, and weaklings. This is AT BEST, a mediocre game.

First off, the combat is spastic and spazzy. It's bad. If you take ritalin, maybe you'll get off on it. If you have standards, you'll hate it. Sorry nerds, you're not that fast and real weapons move slower than wiffle-ball bats. Also WTH is wrong with the target-lock? Unbelievably amateurish.

Also WTH is wrong with the target-lock? Unbelievably amateurish. Always switching for NO REASON, always turning off and losing target lock on certain bosses FOR NO REASON.

There is no story. And the cut scenes are super cheap. Just two characters standing and talking, totally dialogue driven, with a plain static background. Looks like something from 1998. The opposite of cinematic, the opposite of immersive.

I have no idea what the history or mythos of this world is... and the game makes no attempts to tell me. No opening cut-scenes or anything similar. It's almost like they don't even care if you care about the world, it's history, the races in it, or why you're doing what you're doing. Almost like they ACKNOWLEDGE this is a shallow empty grind-fest.

The world is boring and soulless. That's both in the towns and out in nature. You encounter the same enemies in the earliest maps that you face the whole way through... thus there's no sense of progression in that respect either.

The story missions frequently disconnect, and always right at the end, forcing you do to everything all over again. This is a common problem that has existed for years.

There are so many currencies and windows and specialized vendors, the whole damn things is so cumbersome and unnecessarily complicated.

Platform jumping. Yes. It's required, and it's all thru this p.o.s. game.

All of that makes it an empty, boring, tedious grind. This is not a good game, it's not an enjoyable game. It might appeal to those who think they look kewl, but really look like "the Star Wars kid," but unless you're a soyboy, you'll not be able to stand this mediocrity.

The trading system is awesome because you can trade while questing and doing your stuff. You don't have to run to the Auction house or something. You just trade as you go and then pick your money or stuff at Trade Post. Pvp is also a big part of the game and is balanced. Additionally building siege weapons and team playing really makes the pvp hot. This game is not just for solo play. Bigger fun is when you co-operate with other ppl, make events together and work in guilds.
    Awesome game

Guild Wars 2 is the best MMO out right now, yet this does not mean it is perfect. Expect to enjoy the game immensely until you have completed all the content there is to enjoy. It lacks replayability in almost every single thing unless you enjoy raiding or fractals.

Noob game for babies. It's just a zerg-fest of capped nabs that get destroyed by starter map bosses so routinely that Anet has nerfed them 3 times already, and STILL they drop like flies. They die so easily because nobody knows how to do anything in this game but run around in a giant pack randomly spamming like 3 or 4 generic attack skills. Take that away and they're clueless.

Every class is the same, with the only difference being the names of their skills and their animations. Other than that, every class has a an AOE skill, every class has a CC skill, every class has a nuke on a long CD, and every class has a heal skill. And the AI cheats liek you wouldn't believe but it's cleverly hidden behind the zerg mechanic that makes everything so random that it's hard to detect, but you will know when you use your heal skill in a big fight and half the mobs suddenly target you a split second after you use it, usually before it's even had time to go into effect. It's sooooooo bad!

It's a good game for little kids, but that's it. For anybody else, it's a joke... an absolute joke.

Yes, you heard it right! ArenaNet takes a backflip into their puddle of creativity and replaces everything that was fun in MMORPG's with meaningless and tedious activities where your biggest achievement will be a months-long tedious grind to obtain a LEGENDARY.... skin. Yes, skin. Not an epic powerful artefact, weapon or something badass but a skin :|
Keep in mind that you also can pay real money to buy skins, bag slots (rly!?) and other nonsense... because this is what we all wanted right? RIGHT?!

Possibly my favorite game of all time. A great RPG with amazing combat, character growth, and very friendly community. This is the only game I play nowadays and it fulfills all my desires for a video game: to play with others or on my own, to feel like I'm progressing and becoming more skilled at the game, and to learn of a great story and world within an extremely beautiful game.

Combat is fluid and the combination of builds you can put together gives great variety.

It still looks great and gets new content on a regular basis. The Free To Play model is very generous and you csn go to level cap without paying a cent or being dramatically inconvenienced. The post level cap continuation just requires buying an expansion.

If the two decade old quest hub MMO gameplay is draining you of the will to live then give this a free try.

The game evolved since launch, that's true, but at quite a slow pace.

The expansion stories were a lot shorter than the main one and a lot more convoluted.

The new classes that were added with the expansions are a bit of a fresh air, but ANet doesn't know how to make them fit in the different aspects of the game (PVP, PVE, Raids).

Spellbreaker from the last expansion doens't have a place in Raids, as an example. Scourge was so nerfed that it lost it's place in any raid for more than 3 months.

ANet doesn't seem to test what they do and then it takes 2+ months for them to fix it.

Classes are absurdly unbalanced in PVP, you can take an overpowered one and simply cheese you way to the top tiers.

End game content (I include making new Legendary items, high level Fractals and Raid Wings in this category) are slow, very slow to come out. We had to wait 6 months for a new raid wing (had 4 before that), and ONE YEAR for 01 new fractal level. That is RIDICULOUS.
The new legendary items are lackluster. As an example the new rifle and shield are simply garbage when compared to the previous ones. The medium legendary armor look absurdly crap, when compared with it's heavy and light counterparts.

Now they decided and go heavy with the lootbox system. It was ALREADY present in the game, with Black Lion Chests, but now they decided to introduce Random Mounts for a price. When they are not random, which are 2 atm, they are extremely overpriced.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that they slyly changed most of their servers to Amazon ones, giving most of their player base worse pings, while a minority ended up getting better pings, and they don't even acknowledge that.

So yeah, that's it I guess. A game with potential, but huddled together with a greedy, lazy management.

My friend bought the game 50€ at the time now it turned "free account" because I didn't buy any extension, are you really joking me ? Like if I don't buy your F extensions you will make my account like I was a new player when my friend had to pay 50€ so I can play the goddamn game ?
I never do reviews but this game just disappointed me.
Like I said, nothing wrong with the gameplay, story etc. I played myself ALOT but it ended like this, which is sad but there is plenty of games that I can play and that are better than this.

The community is honestly one of the most toxic I have ever seen in any MMO.

CSGO Silver matchmaking has a better community.
Dota 2 has a better community.
    LoL has a better community.

The game is alright, but the community honestly ruins it and it genuinely is the reason I wrote this review and cannot recommend the game.

Fast forward over 4 years, add numerous fixes and updates and a huge expansion and now you have easily the best MMO that's currently playable to date. The amount of content in this game now is mind boggling and overwhelming when you start to learn everything there is to offer. From the super casual elements like the 50+ jumping puzzles to the fun and challenging PVE Dungeons, World Bosses, Fractals, and Raids to the almost near perfectly balanced PVP matches and World vs World. When I say near perfectly balanced I mean after countless hours of learning and understanding PvP mechanics and the ability to utilize professions to be able to counter other ones. You WILL enter PvP at some point and be destroyed by Mesmer or Necromancer countless times before you realize that you must build to counter certain professions and its not just a "1 build or play style destroys all" type of PvP.

The graphics are timeless and still look fantastic after all these years. Especially the new expansion areas.

The combat is fun and fluid. A perfect mix between active dodging and lock on abilities. Each profession can be played multiple ways and use many different weapons. Example. Playing as Thief you can play all at range with guns or bow and try to avoid all damage or you can build to have tons of self healing while attacking with daggers or swords. You may choose a full damage/crit build or even an evasive tank. Never think it can't be done with the profession you choose.

The Sound is fantastic. The music is top notch.

After recently going back through the endless MMO selection we have these days I can say without a doubt, While the MMORPG genre is indeed dying out Guild Wars 2 is by far the greatest and best MMORPG that there is currently to offer.

I'm excited to see what 2017 will bring us in the MMORPG market and that ArenaNet just didn't let this gem die. If you quit GW2 in the 1st year or so after release you NEED to go back and give it a go now.

I think my original review was 7/10 for GW2 it is now easily 10/10 considering no other MMORPG out there at the moment competes with it.

Guild Wars 2 is, entertaining, but not for long, why is it? Well, to say it short, content is actually just doing the same thing over, and over, and over, and over again, there's actually not that many things to do, especially after their so called "Expansion", which is actually quite smaller than a usual DLC, which most likely yield more content than that.

But we're not talking about their "Expansion". Guild Wars 2 only serves for about maximum of 6 months if you're a hardcore MMORPG player, and you'll get second to no support, development information, balanced updates and so fourth from ArenaNet. They're pretty silent, lying dormant, cutting down the community and just throws in visual nerfs into the game. Definitely this means it's run by money with no communication to the players in the forums.

Do not, please, do not buy Guild Wars 2, although it's free now... you'll most likely just suffer as the maximum abilities you can use are 10, which feels more like it's for PvP content.

Which reminds me, the PvP is unbalanced, extremely infrequent balance patches, making the game make you more likely not to play it (if you're there for the PvP), besides, the so called "PvP" also only consist of Capture Point. They've tried a Death Match map, and I for one, hated it. Even made me think that World of Warcraft PvP is more balanced, although that's gear and level based. Also to mention, with their "Expansion" have they put in so called "Elite" specialization where they said they wouldn't be stronger than the core specialization trees, and it turned out to be a lie. Every Heart of Thorn owner uses these Elite specialization, and furthermore bringing in unbalanced gameplay, and therefor I can't see why people are actually playing the game, when they do not keep their promises, nor their "No-Grind Philosophies" and so on.

They are not keeping their words. Simply lies and steals your money, and for all I care about the Critic from known websites: Are not trustworthy either.

Guild Wars 2, questions me, why I don't trust people, why I play it, why I hate people that lie, day in, and day out.

Recommendation: Look past this, it's only good for your mental health, you won't suffer what people has to say, lies and disappointment. This is what real life should learn you, not a virtual world.

IF you want another hardcore mmo buy this game. IF you don't have a PHD i wouldn't bother. The content has been tuned to the hardcore. This game will not last long in it's current state. Updated review 11/12/2015 (~300 hours over a few years). This game is enjoyable, and it runs really well if you have decent hardware. I've enjoyed GW2. The most annoying thing in this Game is to explore the whole Map, i mean who gives a flying **** about some useless Houses inside of Caves or Camp with enemy Npc's inside? I don't. Cpu utilization is terrible, 80% cpu usage on 4,5 ghz cpu is a joke. This Game is an awful example of how coding can end if you smoke too much kush.

Never before has an expansion been released so smoothly. The new areas are packed with content, the desired difficulty has been added, the story passes. It's beautiful, and added so much content to the core game that I'm still not sure what to do sometimes. :} Shame it took 8 months to get here, but eh.

The open world events are great and highly replayable. Elite specialzations are fun and add more build variety to the game. Zones are beautiful and intricate. I have so much to do that I havnt even gone into my favorite game mode WvW yet. This game was money well spent

At first exploring the jungle is confusing and frustrating but as you complete events you are able to upgrade your masteries resulting in much quicker travel and access to areas that were previously inaccessible. These first masteries that allow for quick travel can be unlocked within the first few hours. One issue with vanilla GW2 was the ease in which mobs could be killed. The mobs in these maps are much more difficult and engaging which is a pleasant change. Changes have been made elsewhere such as Fractals of The Mist which have been streamlined and different methods of crafting. Guild halls are absolutely amazing and will be a grand undertaking to build up over the future months. Simply amazing game with amazing graphics, music, and gameplay. Expand

The amount of QUALITY content you get as a F2P player is insane!
However if you are interested in end game content you must get expansion and believe me when I tell, new zones are absolutely stunning!

GW2 has made a powerful impact on the MMO scene, confirming years of expectations. Stunning presentation and revolutionary design guarantee a thoroughly enjoyable experience. However, it’s not flawless, nor complete. The beautiful vistas, the massive PvP element, the rich leveling experience- those can offer hours of gameplay, but the endgame is desperately seeking for enrichment. [November 2012]

Guild Wars 2 surpasses the original in every aspect, from its massive and atmospheric world to its addictive and engrossing gameplay.

After spending fifty hours with GW2, I have a lot of praise for ArenaNet's work and the way it changes up some of the typical trappings of the MMO. And yet, I find myself thinking less and less about it each day. It's not a declaration against the product, mind you, but simply a fact that this game still is very much an MMO, and your enjoyment will directly relate to how much you enjoy the genre. For many who were hoping for a clean break from MMO design philosophy, Guild Wars 2 will probably come across as a slight disappointment. It pushes the genre slightly forward, however, and could lead to even further development in the future.
