As time went on, people slowly forgot about the agony and suffering during that period. One day, the dormant demons suddenly reappeared and marched toward the prosperous Royal City where the protection circles resided.

In the face of an onslaught from demonic legions, the player takes the role of a skilled artisan from Holme to lead the heroic citizens of the kingdom in defending their homeland. The player must combine their wits with a variety of traps to hold the kingdom's last line of defense.

Guardians of Holme’s moment-to-moment action is initially fun, as players create complex trap setups and decide the best way to use their own special powers. The game offers plenty of options and upgrade paths, as well as extra characters and a ton of traps to unlock. Both tower-defense genre veterans and newcomers will have fun with it. The big issue is the repetitive nature, which is baked into the core ideas. The narrative is not interesting enough to keep players going. A love of the gameplay is required to get enough gems to unlock the second playable character. Guardians of Holme has a good design but struggles to keep its core loop exciting.

With the enemy-punishing sadism of Orcs Must Die! and the adaptability of a collectable card game, Guardians of Holme isn’t your average tower defense game. Instead, a healthy amount of autonomy and a constant drip-feed of rewards give this title an edge over its peers.

Guardians for Holme is a fun tower defence title that gets a bit repetitive, but it feels incredibly satisfying when you see waves of enemies destroyed by your traps!
