    Of Course Green Hell is recommended...!!! This is -in my opinion- the best Survival Game that was ever created (until now).

    I read comments and negative reviews, about that game "forcing" the player to check on his/her character's diet constantly, look out for Jungle elements that can kill you such as Jaguars, Cayman Crocodiles, Poison Dart Frogs, Tribal Warriors etc and also people complain that you have to build and create tools and sheds the entire time. Just to save the game you need to build a hut. You need to sleep to regain some energy that you wasted trying to survive. You need to find ways to build numerous tools that make your life easier in the Amazonian Jungle by exploring the areas......

    Then what exactly do people expect from survival games nowdays? This is a SURVIVAL game...

    ► Of course you'll need to battle the elements. Of course you need to fight against the local Tribesmen not only for territorial purposes but also to grab the necessary blueprints for tools and weapons. Yes you will have to become a time manager and get your rusty brain moving because this is not a simple linear game. You need to start THINKING. The core of pc games (back in the day) was that the player needed to think and to be challenged. So start enjoying and stop complaining. Enough of you people. Play Mario or something and leave that game for us that can appreciate the realistic simulation and the managerial portions of it.

    I have written 61 hours in that game and i own it since the PRE-ALPHA version when half of what we have now in game where not available. I haven't played for 4 months and when i launched it again, i have forgotten how good it was and how solid it played. This game is addicting and makes you stick with it constantly unless you have no idea what survival stands for. You have to find ways to explore, plan your daily expeditions and each day that you get off your base, make it a mission. This is not a sandbox game. There are 4 different levels of hardness, as also a custom level that you can enable or disable elements.

    ✔ Everyone that owns that game, needs to know the basics. The only way of that happening without watching videos online, is by playing the fantastic story mode. This is more fulfilling than snooping through videos cause the game itself gives you the sense of accomplishing something when you learn something new. Get familiar with the simplistic UI, the mechanics that are easy as a childsplay and the Jungle that can easily disorient you even if you are going straight. Also this is a game that after many years of drought and lack of imagination by the companies, gave us a solid, serious, well written and MAJESTIC STORY.

    ❌ Don't get me wrong. The game is fantastic BUT it needs heavy optimizing. All machines are going to struggle running it.

    ► We are excited for all the future updates as also for the coop mode. Playing that Gem of a game with friends is an awesome idea, BUT!!! If the devs ever decide on an MMO Open World gameplay (something like GTA V), is going to kill that experience.

Immersion is heavily carried by great graphics and detailed sound effects. The base gameplay loop is similar to Subnautica, and is best experienced if you go in blind and discover and learn the jungle on your own.     Even in early access this is very fun, interesting and in depth survival experience. Unlike most survival games Green Hell tries more realistic approach and its a welcome addition. Plus the jungle in game looks absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended.

    I think I'm just not as entertained by starving and sleeping under trees as I thought years - and several titles of this genre - ago.

    But this one is a little different. Starting with the lack of zombies, even though the AI of the "natives" is not too impressive either, and they all look pretty much the same, so that is only a minor improvement.     But all the annoyances, or as I am supposed to think of them: The challenge, is customizable, and I'm extremely fond of that. Maybe one of these days I have enough time to attend to not just one, but three different hunger meters, but I don't have to. Maybe one day I feel like having all my hard work destroyed by randomly spawning enemies, but I don't have to. Maybe one day I'll be ready for eating tarantulas, or just having them swooping from trees in general. But, you guessed it, I don't have to.

    So for the fans of the genre there is all the nutrient management and random ant attacks you could possibly wish for, but you can also minecraft your way through this nicely designed jungle.

    The story mode is surprisingly fleshed out and a good start into the game. It still certainly doesn't hold you hand and could really use a pause feature, but since you can get rid of pretty much of everything remotely dangerous I can't really complain about this one.

    Let's hope the developers aren't done with this one yet (as they state in their road map). This could easily become more than a 7/10.    … Expand

    I was excited to try out this new survival game called "Green Hell", which looked promising at first glance. What I found was rather disappointing.

    While the overall setting, idea and graphics are cool, the actual game play is rather poor. You're stuck in the amazon jungle picking up stuff from your surroundings like wood, stone and all sorts of edibles like fruits, nuts, herbs,    I was excited to try out this new survival game called "Green Hell", which looked promising at first glance. What I found was rather disappointing.

    While the overall setting, idea and graphics are cool, the actual game play is rather poor.
    You're stuck in the amazon jungle picking up stuff from your surroundings like wood, stone and all sorts of edibles like fruits, nuts, herbs, mushrooms and different kind of animals. Sounds fun, until you realise how complicated it is to maintain your overall health, sanity and energy.
    By far the most annoying feature is keeping yourself fed. With 3 different stats to maintain (fats, carbohydrates, proteins) the game is basically becoming a diet manager. With the help of your magical watch, which knows exactly what elements your body is missing, you're constantly balancing nutrition as if it's only possible to survive like this.
    So eventually you're forced to eat meat, which has to be cooked, unless you want to vomit in the jungle and become insane. Which forces you to make a fire.
    Creating a small fire is like creating a piece of art. You need exactly 6 small sticks and 8 sticks, otherwise its not a small fire.
    But since it's constantly raining in the jungle your fire goes out quickly unless you create a shelter for it. With more wood. And more leaves. Leaves you can not just rip off the plants, you actually have to destroy them. With a tool, that you have to craft. Which drains your energy while swinging it. The more tired you get, the less energy you have. So go to sleep, and waste valuable time.

    So you're running around the jungle, wasting time, to find the exact pieces you need, instead of just finding wood and burning it. And while there are actually structures in the game, you could use for shelter or take material from they are merely cosmetic. Logic doesn't apply in Green Hell.
    You have to do all these things before it's getting dark. So dark that it's hard to recognize and find the things you need to survive. The day is pretty short and your character is strolling through the jungle like on a vacation. So good luck with cooking that meat.
    And you still need water, my friend. Clean water, unless you like parasites that drain your energy.
    So either find somethin antiparasitic to eat, find a coconut shell and wait for rain or build a water filter, which you need a blueprint for, unless you have personally memorized how to build it. There are plenty of ways to gather rain water in real life, but you are stuck in the jungle with a lack of creativity.

    Saving the game requires a specific type of building. So either build that or die from a jaguar attack, crazy natives hunting you down, snake bites, food poisoning, poor diet or just your random PC crash and start all over again. Of course you can deactivate perma death, but you could also implement a reasonable save game system.

    Overall the game is squeezing you into it's idea of survival, which feels odd and exhausting.
    Way too much effort for too little of an outcome. The difficulty of Green Hell is a supposed selling point, but without sufficient logic applied to the game mechanics its just a chore, instead of a creative sandbox survival game. The word hell does indeed apply. The Long Dark did it better.

    One of the best survival experiences so far. Nice graphics, nice story, superb thrill when travelling into hostile jungle. Recommended!

    amazing game. Started playing it in early access, then moved on to the full release and now enjoying it even more. Can't wait for the coop!

    This game is not a survival but a cheap walking sim of eating. The worst of the worst. A story mode is some kind of joke. Bad AI of Natives, animals and too much walking, eating and boring dialogs by walkie talkie. Amateur, bad designed little game for 25 bucks is unacceptable.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So this game is rather in-depth as far as the survival experience goes but it does have its flaws and inaccuracies.

    It's really fun and I would have given it a higher grade except the story ending is pretty bad. It's sad since the story is intriguing at first, but after the climax it has little to no resolution. I didn't mind the involvement of politics and the whole civilization bad theme due to it not being too prevalent (and honestly civilization does have its downfalls and is probably overreaching, but on the other hand this ignores any of its good - I personally would argue overall it is good). However, after the set of scenes (the climax, in my opinion) revealing the consequences of the main character who essentially found a miracle drug that inadvertently created an infectious outbreak that at least decimates (the literal 1/10 definition) Brazil, the game's story goes downhill.

    That's not to mention that by the time they reveal Mia's fate, it was pretty obvious that Mia was not actually communicating with you throughout the game and Higgins is delusional (revealed to be due to guilt). Also, there is little indication of what you have to do to get the "good" ending and beyond that "bad" ending, while being somewhat inconsistent, actually feels better than the good ending (since you feel you can still redeem yourself). At the end, the story blames you for destroying the tribal civilization and somewhat being responsible for the deaths of millions and leaving Mia essentially to die to find the cure but it doesn't recognize that even with the at least 20 million death toll, it really didn't seem to affect the animals (so it might be good for them), at least some Brazilians/South Americans likely escaped, and even if it killed all the humans in South America (worst case scenario, which is awful) the whole set of events could still save more lives than it kills within 45 years if the cure works - with cancer having been cured.

    Now, I'm not to say whether that trade off would be worth it, but it seems he didn't do it out of greed (now he did give it to the company which did minimal testing and I think caused the outbreak due to this, wasn't explained well during the story, which I guess was avoidable I guess) but instead he did it all to help his wife and the company did it because the drug could potentially save so many (as well as make a lot of money of course). Honestly, I don't even blame the game to an extent since the inner Mia voice does blame him and he probably does blame himself. But it seems odd to me the game tries to put this guilt trip on you and your character (which he kinda deserves, but really doesn't, if anything the drug company heads that pushed production are to blame) and never resolve you of it in the good ending.     I do not agree in the slightest with the general consensus. This game was awful, bushes that bite you (the snakes are just a biting bush) a rng that sucks, meaning you will, even when loading a save game be either greeted with something straight away or you never see it. After playing starnded deep the forest the infected and this I can see why the infected is been made cause this game was another well dressed turd that failed to deliver. I have played dayz since its beginnings and that is still a better survival game than all of these latest offerings. my choice would be the infected (and this is still early days and craps all over the rest then stranded deep then this abomination and then plain old f**k the forest. looks beautiful great environment but suffers from clutter to much just for the sake of having to much. Flashy with no substance but at least i didnt feel the need to get a refund like i did with the forest but still not worth it.… Expand

Green hell is nothing else but looking for food, eating, building, and dying. If you meet a snake - he bites you - 100% chance of getting poisoned which will kill you if you don't find necessary flowers for cure(and you won't).     Graphics look good, even on low settings. The health Management System is, eat every 3 minutes, drink every 3 minutes, sleep every 5 minutes, die or, wake up starving to death. Time management, not correctly employed. New days always start @ 00:00:01, not in the game. Days are not actual days and nights aren't either. If you're not constantly looking for food to balance the broken nutrient system, your fetching wood to keep a fire going to so can sterilize water to drink. Food spoils too fast, the hunting mechanics is clunky. There's no RMB to steady your aim and you can only hold your breath for like 5 secs. Your bow always wobbles, not realistic. Items disappear all the time. Backpack hold more than the storage crates. Every time you log out of the game, even after a save, you log in to find everything in your backpack rearranged. The impression of your character in the load ad is nothing like the character in the game. He looks macho but sounds like a wus when playing him. Weight distribution is another issue. Nothing seems to be at a real balance or numerical proportion considering, you are a healthy human should be able to carry your own weight. The building mechanics seems to be broken a bit. Stuff doesn't fit well together, some of it disappears/despawns when you aren't looking. One save/play through, 190 days survived and barely have 1/4 of the map discovered. Too busy managing my health and rebuilding my camp or, fetching wood all over the place due to, limited resources and and nothing grows back so, the Amazon is ready for a parking lot and housing community. I started after beta so, others may be better off than me due to their time playing the game from the alpha stages. Patience is a virtue if you're into these games. I own 25 survival games and play about 5 of them regularly. The rest, well..., they are basically, not realistic to say the least and just a waste of time.    … Expand

    By far the worst camera I've seen in a videogame. Everything is constantly being distorted. The graphics were constantly having new elements popping out with a really close range. But overall it was the camera that threw me off, couldn't play like that.

    Excelent game. Brings a lot of fresh air to the genre and shows a great potential in realistic survival games. Can't wait for a Playstation version to get this beautiful views on a big screen.

    Tried to give it a crack, but the game is very poorly opitimised and the story is awful. It is empty, gameplay is boring. Game can easily become a cheap crappy walking sim where you search for plants.

    Also, the devs clearly make the plants you need rarer and rarer as the story progresses to make you continue playing this total f********* trash heap. Waste of time.

Звуковое сопровождение на уровне, необходимо прислушиваться к обстановке, чтобы понять где какое зверье обитает. Но вот управление рюкзака и крафт, как по мне, неудобен и очень быстро надоедает делать одно и тоже без выбора количества. Да и поиграв в двоем около 5-6Игра неплоха, графика очень даже красивая, управление сносное, возможность кооператива огромный плюс к игре и геймплею. Звуковое сопровождение на уровне, необходимо прислушиваться к обстановке, чтобы понять где какое зверье обитает.     В этой игры ты можешь умереть от любой болезни (не прямо как в жизни, в жизни человек в джунглях выживет, а тут нет), а в игре их довольно много и притом игра не объясняет в "ОБУЧЕНИИ" как вообще играть в ЭТО. Тупо никому не нужный пролог, который длиться довольно долго (может для некоторых доходить и до 2ч, что не даст вернуть деньги за игру).     Hikaye modunu bitirdik arkadaşlarla. Yaklaşık 20 saat sürdü. Özellikle ilk 10 saat feci şekilde zorlandık, öğrenemedik. Kurtçuklar nedeniyle çok defa delirip öldük, zehirli yılan ısırıklarını tedavi etmeyi bir türlü öğrenemedik (hala bilmiyorum), ama ortalardan sonra özellikle ikinci haritaya geçince bulduğumuz kamplarla beraber refah seviyemiz ve bilgimiz artınca oyun biraz dahaHikaye modunu bitirdik arkadaşlarla.     Hikayesi harika olmasa da iyi. Görsel kalitesi Forest'tan çok daha önde. Geceleri yürüyen hayvanların ayak sesleri tedirgin edici. Hayatta kalmanın zorluk seviyesi, ölmenin çok fazla yolunun olmasının verdiği heyecanla oynaması epey keyifli bir oyun. Keşke daha uzun olsaydı.    … Expand

    The survival mechanics are revealed in bits and pieces, so it looks pretty challenging, but it's simplified by the lack of threats in the jungle. The main threats are small animals that you shouldn't step on and menacing large beasts that you need to kill. The art of dealing with these is not difficult and from then on the jungle becomes boring and a wayfinding game for the story. Still,The survival mechanics are revealed in bits and pieces, so it looks pretty challenging, but it's simplified by the lack of threats in the jungle. The main threats are small animals that you shouldn't step on and menacing large beasts that you need to kill. The art of dealing with these is not difficult and from then on the jungle becomes boring and a wayfinding game for the story. Still, the initial struggle to survive is quite enjoyable.

    The natives are human, but they lack intelligence and aggression. Moreover, they are weak and boring. Their tribes and scouting groups should be more numerous, more belligerent, better at setting traps, and better at dragging animals around to harass Jake. The second half of the game would have been much more tense and interesting with more natives trying to destroy the scouts and the main character's dwelling.

However, the game becomes repetitive and tedious after a while as you would have seen most of what the game has to offer.     Overall pretty complex and unforgiving. Realism is good but this game over did it. Crafting is not intuitive and menus are sloppy. The world and mechanics are pretty boring. You can't see anything well because of the many trees.

    The ambience and overall feeling is great. The graphics have good detail and the story part keeps you hooked. The survival part is a good combination of real life, game and common-sense.

    - The graphics engine has serious issues: it gives average performance on a high end card (1080) even with low details. Something is not right. A big part of the game runs at under 60fps and there's occasional hitching. It wasn't enough for me to uninstall it but it certainly downgraded the experience. No SLI support.
    - The physics are terrible. The way the character moves is strange and he gets caught on little outcrops, ledges or stones. Jumping and moving on rocks etc also leaves a lot to be desired. Since each jump takes a lot of energy trying to get somewhere with these physics becomes very annoying at times. Animal and other human physics are very basic - they look like they're from a 10+ year old game.
    - The sound has problems. Some (or many) sounds are not spatially implemented. So the only way you can pinpoint where these are coming from is by distance: if their volume decreases it means you're moving away from it, etc. Waste of a surround sound system.
    - I imagine it wouldn't be difficult to implement a longer story and it would add a lot to the fun of the game. I found it to be too short and this was my first survival game and I played it on the difficult setting. I'm sure a seasoned survivor could get through this in less than half the in-game days it took me.
    - The animal variety is very limited and you're in the most fauna-flora rich areas of the planet. Come on. It's not like the game should have all the species, but one snake? 5 fish? A couple birds? The plant life seemed to have had more effort put into it.

    In conclusion, a game really worth playing. If the developers were more serious, it would have been a truly magical game - for now it looks like what they got right was out of luck.    … Expand

    Wow! I didn't even like this game at first but I endured and once I could stay alive for longer than five minutes I quickly became invested in the story. I loved exploring the jungle and finding new locations looking for a damsel in distress and then the ending! It just blew me away. Absolute best game I've played in ages. Not been this enthralled for a while. Loved it!

    If you know how things work, this game is really fun. But it is hard. You are constantly under time pressure. Most of the time you will be busy hunting animals, finding plants, creating shelters or cooking. If you have some energy left, you can go and explore the map. But you will get exhausted soon or the night will set in and you will need another shelter and a fire to cook. So you have to be very efficient and do several things at once.

    The storyline is good and I was really to find out what happened to Mia and Jake. You will get several flashbacks that reveal the story.

    The graphics are excellent. The jungle is really beautiful. The whole survival atmosphere is very good, you can literally feel Jake's desperation. And after a long day, it is really cozy to stand next to the fire and watch your steak cooking.

    It can be annyoing when you are on your way home with some important item you found and suddenly you bump into a Jaguar who 2-shots you. Or a tribe member. But that's survival! So I recommend to save often using a shelter.

    I can't think of any big cons so this is a clear recommendation! Very solid game.    … Expand

    For now, Green Hell is a fantastic game. For once a survival game is complex without having to shoot 20 arrows into an enemy to kill him. Clearly a must have question survival game. Remains to be seen the further development.

Тут ты с самого начала в джунглях, непонятно где, без еды и воды, и в неизвестности. Сам ты ничего не знаеш и сам все исследуеш. Какую воду пить какую нет, какие грибы съедобны и т.д.

    This is one of the best survival games I have played so far. Amazing sounds, wonderful dramatic story which forces you to addict the game ina a very good and crazy way. Performance is quiet good. Graphics are very nice compared to the small size of the game. I recommend this game to survival fans.

    A fantastic perfect challenge, with the realest sense of peril i have experienced from a game. Absolutely fantastic with friends and so much to explore for hours on end. the ending of this game genuinely left my jaw dropped for minutes afterward and felt like a perfect resolution to the hell you go through to get there.

    Its hard to understand what are you suposed to do in the start but with the time the game turns in a very challenging survival simulator with a cool history and unique mechanics

    I find this game extremely hard on normal difficulty. But it was quite fun to play it on easy mode with friend. You get lost in areas & do your best to navigate by map and fail miserably.
    In conclusion I would rate it as neutral

    One of the most fun games ive played in a while, since the few last updates its even better. I had played it with 2 Friends and we had so much fun. The Building System is expensive but it feels so good when you built a base with everything you need. And Even then you can do more, explore Caves, get your own animals, skill your weapons and much more.     Green Hell is a fantastic survival experience with an exemplary sense of place and peril. Creepy Jar have really nailed the feeling of loneliness and despair that true isolation would lead to and married this to some well balanced challenges and a refreshingly user friendly approach. The range of ways to play are really welcome and should ensure that even those players who may be turned off by the rigours of hunger and thirst mechanics can enjoy the immersive jungle experience. This may not be a welcoming jungle, but there’s plenty of fun and games to be had.

    Overall if you are hankering for some pretend survival whilst we are all doing it for real with COVID 19 I would definitely recommend this game. Even if you just sit and enjoy the atmosphere I feel it is well worth the money.

    Green Hell is a hardcore survival that will give you the atmosphere of wandering and surviving harsh Amazon jungle, all while posing an intriguing story to lead you onwards. Even though it does not possess multiplayer and suffers by being an average survival game in many regards, it will provide you with a few hours of quality fun, especially at this price range.
