A great lightweight roguelike. I used to play more heavier, more established rogulikes, but with me growing older and with less time, IA great lightweight roguelike. I used to play more heavier, more established rogulikes, but with me growing older and with less time, I appreciate a game that I can complete in under an hour. Despite it being short, it's tightly packed with tactical challenges and that results in a high number of interesting player decisions per minute. There are a number of interesting game systems: The player transforming from a human to a vampire and back is the core idea and it plays wonderfully, even though I was sceptical about it at first. This interacts in a great way with the sunlight and moonlight mechanics, which also interact with the numerous cast of monsters. And on top of that, you have probably the best roguelike potion mechanic: allowing you to make informed decisions, while still keeping the surprising moments and emergent gameplay. The dev clearly thought about all the tropes and mechanics of the classic games of the genres and focused on the good while cleaning up the old mechanics that stuck just because of the tradition. The great variety of classes, optional branches all help the game stay replayable for a long time. Full Review »
