A single player Mafia/Werewolf game? How would that even work, I asked myself. Well, they managed to pull it off. It works surprisingly well. How would that even work, I asked myself. Well, they managed to pull it off. It works surprisingly well. I thought it would be a story focused visual novel with light Mafia elements, but that's actually not the case. The focus actually lies on the gameplay and the story elements are unlocked progressively, depending on character combinations and round status. The dialogue can be very repetitive, because elements such as "accuse person X", "defend person X", etc. only have 1 line per character, so variance is a bit lacking which becomes very obvious after a few rounds. There are 8 different roles present, including 3 evil ones, each with different tasks and interactions. In the beginning you will find yourself checking out voting patterns, keeping mental notes on who sided with whom and looking for any contradictions in role reports.

As you progress you gain experience which can be used to level your character, making him more influential, less detectable, etc. You will also gain special "skills", which will be allowed to be used in specific scenarios. For example, instead of just stating "I defend Person X" you can state "Person X is definitive good, due to role action". I found the combination of both empowering aspects far too powerful, as you will no longer need to pay close attention to the mechanics. The player will become so powerful, they alone dictate who will be voted, and their influence can successfully defend even confirmed guilty people.

As of me writing this, there are two major bugs present in the stable Steam release: 1.) Visual bug on AMD cards that replaces characters by a boxed portrait (possible fix if signing into beta branch) and 2.) After having the game open for an extended period of time character behaviour will glitch, where they will no longer use their special abilities. This results in vastly more monotone gameplay and can prevent progression due to certain learning-scenes or story-scenes not triggering. Frequent restart of game is required to temporarily fix this bug. (every few loops).

Still, over all, I was impressed by the gameplay. The visuals and light story complement the game nicely. Very fun if you enjoy social deduction games but don't have a group of friends available. Completing everything took me around 20 hours. I'd say give it a shot.

Partly worked out conception. Too much grind. The game itself kinda strange, cute from time to time, not big on rewarding
