The definitive F1 SIMULATION. Where as EA's efforts are just GAMES, this is as close to the real thing as anyone will ever get. As for complaint's about the steering help, well you'll just have to get better and switch it off. For those who want a hollow GAME with all the razzamatazz, by all means go for F1 2002. But if something of a little more substance is what you are after then definitely get Grand Prix 4. Too bad SCEE now has a tight hold over the F1 licence coz from now until 2007, if you want the Official game, get a PS2 and have fun with the arcade efforts SCEE spews forth. Expand

Controls a pain to setup. Track flies by at the same speed whether you're going 65mph or 190mph. Not much of an improvement over EA's stuff, even F1 2001

No no, mr Crammond this is the same as GP 3 who was the same as GP 2, just with very nice graphic. Ok if like the other GP-serie you probably like this one too. As you understand I don't. If you like real physics, real rules and driving feeling F1 2002 is for you. Otherwise this has some qualities too for example the weather effects, AI and graphics is very nice.

For as far all the features in the game are concerned, good job. Cars look great, the gameplay is great...but: for example the steering help at Sepang, is way too narrow, so in some corners you want to steer in, but the game wont let you, and you end up next to the track. Theres no racing feeling, empty pitboxes, no engineers walking about, no tools, no computers, and totally silent. No For as far all the features in the game are concerned, good job. No crowds cheering, no fuzz 'n buzz thats normal for a formula 1 pitbox. no ppl on that pitwall.....!!! Nothing moving untill you start. One of the worst things is that enginesound!!! this is F1, no F3500 or something! I think todays games of F1 can let you enjoy real like F1 engine sound! F1 2001 could do it.... I want my game to be a show, in which i am the star, with loads of noise and fuzz. Give me that F1 feeling Mr Crammond. I dont just want to play, i want to see!!!! Good luck. Expand

I really liked the game. Its the continuation of a lagend. Good points: Nice gameplay, Very close to reality (Incredible feeling when you get a good lap time because you know its almost real). Bad points: Bugs, empty pit wall, very difficult to update. Its not a game its a habit...

    Graphics 9/10

The graphics look much better. It feels modern. The rainy tracks look beatiful. Only nitpicking, its a pain to setup, but that is if you have a very bad rig (which, come on, most old PCs run old games good. So why not this?)

    Story N/A

    There is none.

    Gameplay 10/10

A huge improvement, albeit its a pain to setup. Get a good wheel, and you are good to go. The game handles much better compared to previous entries. The weather system is hands down the best one i have ever seen in a F1 game. The game as a whole is a lot of fun.

OVERALL: Recommended, specially if you liked the previous one.

Grand Prix 4 is amazing. I love the cars, the crashes and the action. I've installed a lot of mods from 1988 to 2015 and they all work perfectly. Geoff Crammond is the best F1 game maker

The first F1 simulator game I played in my life. I remember that I spent hours playing and the racing circuits were true to those of that time!

  1. This game is so rich with eye candy, you’ll be running to your optometrist complaining of a cavity.
  2. If this game had come out 4 years ago, it may have been worth purchasing. It's in desperate need of a patch to fix the controller and menu issues.

As a realistic F1 sim this one takes a back seat to EA's title.
