May 23, 2025Game of Thrones: Kingsroad does a good job of recreating the world beloved by many, and letting us live in it. But the microtransactions really make it feel like Netmarble doesn’t respect the players' time.
-
Jun 8, 2025Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is an excellent free-to-play action RPG for iOS and Android, capable of bringing the locations, characters, and music of the TV series to our smartphone screens, thanks to a fairly expansive open world structure that is likely to grow even further over time. However, when it comes to PC the game suffers due to some inevitable limitations, as well as a monetization system that eventually becomes more aggressive, gating progression behind the usual paywalls.
-
Jul 1, 2025Annoying mobile mechanics and omnipresent microtransactions leave a solid role-playing game no room to breathe.
-
Jun 3, 2025A missed opportunity: Kingsroad captures Westeros well but is overwhelmed by pay-to-win mechanics. Only the most patient fans might endure it.
-
Jun 1, 2025Except for the possibility of wandering around Westeros and meeting some prominent personalities of the continent, Game of Thrones Kingsroad is a title with mediocre gameplay and a not very virtuous monetization system, which pushes the player to spend more and more in order to advance and obtain advantages that are otherwise inaccessible. Unless you are a die-hard fan of the series, there are very few reasons to even try the production signed by NetMarble, given that the market is full of much more valid alternatives.
-
Jun 1, 2025Game of Thrones: Kingsroad attempts to respect its source material, imbuing its impressively recreated map of Westeros with grand architecture and appropriately grim side quests. Unfortunately, behind every interesting or well-thought-out idea is a frustrating pay wall, unsightly NPC animation, or grindy roadblock that halts any momentum you’ve worked up – and the passable combat that acts as the foundation of this action-RPG isn’t deep enough to make vaulting those hurdles much fun on its own. There’s plenty to get up to in this intricate reimagining of the TV show’s world, but ultimately, when you play the Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, you pay or you die.

May 30, 2025Game of Thrones Kingsroad feels like it was made with smartphones in mind in the most obvious ways, from its monetisation to its UI and even its button mashing gameplay. Aside from getting to see some landmarks from the HBO show, there is little to enjoy here.
