    I think its game is okay for this year but its need a big uptade or remake because the game is kinda short, thats why this game needs remake but still a very good game.

    i spent 22 hours in this game (steam) and i think that's a really good indie game, but the lack of option with time leaves something to be desired and if you restart the career the game just start to get bored, you can finish the game in like, 7 hours, but this is for the future, i hope Greenheart Games make more games, better than the first.     Game making game. I think it's fine. The variety and the low number of bugs make the game good. Even though I played a few times, I did not feel like I had already done these. It could just have been more plentiful, and sometimes it gets pretty hard.

    Support mods allows to fill several of the gaps that the game has. Highlighting; The monotony of creating video games, lack of statistics to improve simulation quality, and most importantly, the lack of long-term content.
    It is not a bad game for what it brings, given that it cannot do much more considering that it is an Indian and the theme it deals with. Nor do I expect a sequel or something similar.    … Expand

    This game is amazing. the first time i played it was in 2014, and i thought it was okay. recently, i got back into the game. i used a few mods, which made the game-play even better. mods are what upgraded my 8/10 to a 10/10. it makes the HUD and the UI better, and you always get some new content with all the mods.

    Can be a little challenging, but once you get the knack for it, it becomes really addictive. I played this a lot a few years ago, but I'm afraid to touch it again because I don't want to get sucked back into it at this time. Great little game!

    One of those indie games, whose support for developers for 5 years, having a large base of mods and fans.
    The gameplay is at the same time simple, partly hardcore and exciting for many hours.
    One of the best indie games in my life.

    A kinda solid game, well if you are interested in tycoon games and you enjoy the genre is the game for you, the price is low and the requirements too so.. Pick it up and give it a try. It's worth it.

    This is a good game, but for 10 bucks i feel its short, i finished it in a few hours which is kinda lame. its a good game otherwise, its fun to make your own games and even if you beat it you can still grow your company. buy it in a sale, not full price

    Game Dev Tycoon has you starting off in your garage, you as a single person ambitiously creating video games. When creating your first few games you'll be able to choose a genre and platform, followed by some options for your game.

    Once you have your first successful game published, the fun truly begins.     Once you have your first successful game published, the fun truly begins. Eventually you will have enough money for a new studio, and you can also spend it on research to improve your games. You're also able to make game reports of your older games to research on what you did right, and what you didn't do right. By doing this, you'll keep expanding and making games.

    Game Dev Tycoon does not get boring because the game keeps adding new mechanics (for example creating bigger games, more genres/platforms, events, developing your own console, etc) to keep you entertained.

    It's a great simulation and management game that is very easy to learn. It's easy to create decent games in this, but to really thrive you'll have to research your old games for information, which can help you to improve on new games.

    Recommended for anyone into business simulators or management games. It is an addicting and fun game.    … Expand

    I'm not a big fan of Tycoon-Games, but this one i actually played for hours. Very simple, easy to understand. I don't know if they copied from other games (like i said, i never played other (Dev-)Tycoon Games), but i actually don't care. It's a fun game, besides the fact, that the rating system is sometimes the definition of luck.

    Conclusion: Fun, simple game with a luck-problem.

    even though the graphics aren't very detailed, the music gets SO ANNOYING very quickly, and it may not have all the complexity's seen when developing a video game it still is one of my favorite tycoon games of all time. To start of it is very easy to jump into but later on in the game it adds more problems to balance, like taxes, marketing, pirating, and much much more. Also There are aeven though the graphics aren't very detailed, the music gets SO ANNOYING very quickly, and it may not have all the complexity's seen when developing a video game it still is one of my favorite tycoon games of all time.     The way the game works is that you start off as a small indie developer who develops games in his garage and your main objective is to gain popularity and you do this by making popular and well received games (so basically don't be Digital Homicide.) You might be thinking this is easy as the game doesn't look that hard, but that's the thing. It is easy to be OK at it, it takes a few hours to be good but it takes alot to master. I played this game staright for one day and sank 13 hours into it in 1 day. You need to manage statistics and think what's more iportant in the genre of game that you're creating and if you focus too much on a certain subject, you will get worse reviews and worse sales, you also need to manage your marketing correctly to achiee better sales. There are tons of stuff you need to manage and despite me not being that much of a fan of strategy games, Game Dev Tycoon gets a pass as it's a really simple game and eas to use by any age.

    One criticism that I have about Game Dev Tycoon is it's "story." Now people that have already played Game Dev Tycoon, you might be thinking "There is no story in Game Dev Tycoon, I'm not sure what this idiot is talking baout." That's not entirely true. The developers of the game even say there is a story when you reach the end of the game. The problem is there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the story mode and when you comlete the stroy except that there are no new consoles are coming out. So you could sort of say that the story is the evolution of the game industry but it's not because it disregards a few of the things that were essential and had a big impact on the game industry. Despite the story not being good or there being a lack of one, that was consumed by the addicting gameplay.

    Graphics aren't really something to write home about but they look decent showing some good 2D cartoon characters & locations that have been created in a way to give a 2.5D effect. I do have one complaint though. When I moved into my final office, at times the frame rate dropped into the single figures then going to 40 then dropping again to 30 and then going back to 60, this happened on a regular basis.

    I can guarantee you that when you start playing Game Dev Tycoon, you won't want to stop. It pulls you in and you keep on challenging yourself to see if you can make the absolute perfect game on your favourite platform. I was only able to manage this after developing 70 games, yeah so you're gonna needplenty of practice and have plenty of knowledge of what genres fit with each theme and which genre is best played on which console.

    I can tell that I'm going to be playing Game Dev tycoon more than you originally think you'll be laying it when first buying it and I recommend this to anybody that has a fascination with games as a whole.    … Expand

    This is a very addicting simulation game especially if you are interested in the theme. It is funny at times and quite absorbing even only if it uses simple graphics and user interface. Time flies by without me noticing it when I play. Nice work Greenheart Games! Can't wait to see what you'll come up next.

    After a couple of updates and adding content such as 'Game Reports' to actually tell you how to make a topic and genre combination correctly as well as how to set your priorities this game has improved incredibly. The early to mid game is the prime moment of this game as it sets a feeling    I'm quite a fan of Tycoon games and at launch this game was pretty decent, Not great but decent.

    The early to mid game is the prime moment of this game as it sets a feeling of discovery, exploration and experimentation to try and find out the best combinations but after that the game starts losing that discovery as it tells you absolutely everything and spoils part of the discovery late game, as you notice you are just 'obeying the numbers' as I call it, Following the set instructions exactly to make the optimal game.

    The Expansion and Modding community really does help you get that feeling of Discovery back to you as you don't exactly know what topic/combination would work (Without applying a certain degree of common sense) but once again. That can go once the Game Reports tell you absolutely everything you need to know again.

    I had a really good experience with this game after the first 40 hours or so and a couple more tens of hours once I installed the mods and for a small indie title it has really impressed me overall. So I'm giving this one a solid 8 judging by its price and value I have got from this game.    … Expand

    A very underrated game. It is very addictive. It's one of those games where you just want to keep playing. You'll find yourself trying to get all 10's, or maybe you'll even get an 11 out of 10!
    The graphics could've been a little better, but they're not really important.

    Game Dev Tycoon is one of fun tycoon games, it pretty simple for old age days of making games (even tho it not short or easy.) but it pretty good, Game Dev Tycoon also returns the player to make a game on company's old consoles like the NES called TES

    This game is brilliant. It requires basic mathematical knowledge and uses some algorithms. Eventually making multi platform and multi genre games gets difficult but you can work out how to successfully make games using them. I have around 21 hours playtime on Year 131 with 3,864Million cash. It is very very fun. But now I've done and researched everything and make over 100 games I canThis game is brilliant.     My favorite game of all time. If you're willing to wait, you can accomplish truly great things all within a video game. Sometimes I forget I'm playing a game and not managing an actual game development company that's how in depth it is. For an indie game, it's absolutely fantastic.

    I can't remember the last time I started to play a game and got so addicted that i went on for 12-14 hours non stop. It's pretty hard in the beginning, gets a lot easier when you get the hang of it. Not giving a 10/10 only because i wish it were longer: longevity is a big issue here. Great game, thanks for the fun Greenheart!

    Grafik ist sehr schlich gehalten, die Konsolen Namen sind sehr interessant ausgewählt, der Sound ist auch sehr schlicht aber das Gameplay ist unbeschreiblich.

    Really fun game. Easy to pick up, hard to master. There is so much room for growth and potential, more in-depth interviews and game making system for example. But it's an enjoyable, addictive game that will keep you entertained for weeks.

    Looking at it now with my steam key in hand, I can see where everyone went with this.
    The reason why I rated it slightly lower though, is not because of the update or patch or so forth, but rather some of the mods.     The update was awesome, though it took some of the charm off that would make me
    stay on for hours on end, TRYING to reach the end without reaching for the "cheatmenu" to
    give me billions of dollars and a team of highly trained cheaters (*ahem*) I mean employees FOR FREE.
    It is still a great game, but unless you want to bored, stay away from the cheat mods.    … Expand

    Bought on summer sale for 3 euros, and I'm delighted with it. This is true casual game for me, it's easy to learn and very hard to master. Hours of fun. 8 overall, and that is top score which I can give to indie game

    This was an amazing game I was really surprised since it was an indie game you need to use logic and reasoning. It is really fun and I played over 20 hours and still love it!

Some things that annoyed me while playing this was the lack of immersive actions, some interactions with the office itself would be nice. There were so limited options for your office itself and the little events that came throughout your 'carreer' were also very limited. But it the atmosphere of the game itself was surprisingly good. When I played it, it didn't feel very repetitive at all. The game is worth it's buy and to try out, but it isn't a game to keep playing for days. A little bit more options could do the game wonders.… Expand

    This game is an addicting experience, lots of fun and gives you enough freedom to experiment with different game genres. It honestly makes you feel like you''re a real game developer growing up with the developments of the gaming industry.
    Developing your own game engine is fun too, because it means that you can make some serious money!

    It's so unique, classy, nice, cozy and addictive. I played so many hours and I haven't finished it yet. My single concern is sometimes the scoring system and the gap of Graphics Option of the game.

If you manage to not go bankrupt until then, you will get to develop many other games and even your own hardware/research lab/MMO games, which may take several hours to achieve, considering its part of the endgame.     When this game started, it was probably not really worth the price. Since then, the developers added a LOT of new features, four additional consoles, interface options and others. They really listen and respect their fans and deserve 10/10. One playthrough (1 company) took me 9 hours. The game really draws you in.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As soon as I started playing I got hooked inside the game. Awesome. I just feel like I'm really developing games. It's just too bad that after I get in the second office I go down on money and then go bankrupt.

    I had just research 3D graphics and right after I got down on money. Not even the time to make a new engine. I still like it through.

    The best stuff (Pros):
    -Many choices for developing the games
    -Random reviews for a harder challenge
    -Boosts to improve scores
    The worst stuff (Cons):
    -Very hard to get very good reviews
    -Almost like Game Dev Story
    My final conclusion:

I'll finish of this short review by saying this, Greenheart Games clearly care about not only this game, but also their fans, as you can tell by the notifications you get thanking you for buying it. I actually found quite a bit of re-playability, in the fact that I am somewhat of a completionist, and I would play through over and over again to get all the info on each genre and console.     This is by far the best tycoon/simulation game I have ever played. I could play this a for million years and not get bored. I highly recommend checking this game out, especially since it's only ten bucks.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is a very enjoyable game. Yes, it can get repetitive, and the strategies can seem mundane... but if you let your imagination work along with the game, you can really get lost in it.

    The best part about the Steam Update was that they randomized which game topics you start with. In the earlier versions of the game, you started with the same basic standard 80s-game lineup: Military, Space, Medieval, Sports... and then I think Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Racing were the ones you could learn next.

    So back then, you'd just hammer out Medieval/Adventure and Medieval/RPG, learn Sci-Fi/Fantasy, make more Adventure/RPG... get Racing, learn casual games, etc.

    But with this new random starting setup, you could have a tough break if you get a game like Surgery that only has one "Great Combination" or you could luck out and get Fantasy that works very well with anything.

    The game is addictive and at some level it may seem like a free game you'd play on Kongregate, but it's much more than that.

    One minor issue: In the third office when you have Hardware lab and Design lab, switching between the three causes some lag.    … Expand

    I love this game I play it to death it sucks you into making a great game and I love this game if you don't have a steam account you can buy it's also on steam there is a great little community and lot's of mods I love it I love I love it it definitely deserves a ten and the makers are epic.

Example, The player must have the opportunity to set the price for the game the he/ she produces and the topics and research materials are too limited. The game is fun but has no replay ability and is very repetitive. If you like Sim games you'll love this game if you don't like Sim games you probably wont like it to much if you really get into it trying to get your score from when you end up it can be very grindy at times. The R&D lab is very interesting and cool to play with and so are the Hardware Labs, MMOs, and Extension packs for your MMOs. With Mod capability now it moves from a 7 to a 8 because of how some mods add some really cool things and not many games let modding happen and support it.… Expand

    This game is a lot of fun. And now that they have added more complexity to it since the original release and modability so I would say that since the game is so enjoyable and cheap, additionally it being Greenheart Games first game, it was really well executed and polished.

    Pretty amazing game, especially for $5. I enjoyed being Electronic Arts and making horrible games and having awful customer support, and in another playthrough I was a respectable company that made effective games and patches and treated my fans well. Overall awesome game!

    I was having a bit of trouble at first trying to make the games well,

    Game Dev Tycoon, will always have you coming back for more in which I believe is a sign of a successful game. If you have play Game Dev story by kairosoft, this is a more updated and realistic version still packed with the addicting and joy of creating a hit game. I would recommended this game to all Simulations fans and anyone looking to try something different.
