    It's been a long time since I have felt a game pull me in so much. I am a sucker for a good base building game where you start with nothing and have to survive against all odds to build up. This game brought that in a big way. This aspect coupled with the music and icy desolate backdrop made this a very immersive experience that I had to keep coming back to.     It had a nice atmosphere, conflict on moral decisions, hard ressource management and cool graphic!

    The best of strategy and city building game I've ever played. Its songs, atmosphere and feeling make you feel like you are really living those scenarios. Highly reccomended.

Игра с лёгкостью постоянно держит тебя в напряжении, даже когда всё идёт как по маслу: один пролёт и вот новая волна проблем. А под конец так и вовсе ты молишься, чтобы генератор не сломался от форсажа к чертям, а люди не передохли от холода.     Very nice game that i didnt get bored of.
    The day i installed it was the day i finished it. So big (+) for not getting me bored like other games usually do.

    A big fan of city planner games ever since i played simcity 2 as a kid and a big consumer of Cities Skylines with over 1K hours into it. This one is next to Skylines on my tierlist as slightly lower S tier. Management aspect is just the right amount of challanging.     Frostpunk is a game where we try to survive in the midst of a winter apocalypse set in the 1800s, manage a city, and most importantly, manage an extraordinary crisis situation from beginning to end. Although humanity foresaw the future of apocalypse storms, no one took action against it. Therefore, a group of people or an organization has left the city to establish    Frostpunk Review

    Frostpunk is a game where we try to survive in the midst of a winter apocalypse set in the
    1800s, manage a city, and most importantly, manage an extraordinary crisis situation from
    beginning to end. Although humanity foresaw the future of apocalypse storms, no one took
    action against it. Therefore, a group of people or an organization has left the city to
    establish massive generators near the mines to take precautions against these great storms,
    and these generators can operate on coal fuel. As a result, a situation emerges where people
    are struggling to keep the generator running in the midst of a harsh winter, and the generator
    is also working to keep people alive. This is exactly where our survival story begins.

    There are three main mechanics in the game: the first is the city-building mechanic, which is
    almost the same as classic city-building games. Each constructed structure has a feature that allows
    you to cope with major problems, and each structure has different costs. The second mechanic is
    resource and human management; there is not much to say about resource management, as you have to
    use resources in the right place, at the right time, and in the right way. The third mechanic is
    passing laws, where we can contribute to certain places by giving up some things with certain laws
    and decisions. This adds a decision-making mechanism to the game, which is one of the things I liked
    the most, but these three mechanics have been applied very successfully.

    As the core gameplay loop, we actually collect resources, grow the city, maintain the people's peace,
    collect more resources, grow the city further, and try to keep more people alive. In fact, we are in
    such a cycle, but the game gains new features as it becomes more difficult and technology develops,
    and we make workplaces or send scouts to explore new areas. I found the game play and mechanics to be quite sufficient and enjoyable, especially the laws and decision-making, which allow us to bring this stupid society together with either an authoritarian oppressive regime or religion.

    I won't talk much about the graphics; this game's graphics don't really have much credit for being good or bad, but they have good graphics, and the atmosphere is fantastic. As someone who has played "This War of Mine," they portrayed the helplessness and sadness of people's situation beautifully.

    The music is really great, and there are music pieces representing the atmosphere and situation of each specific part of the game, and they start playing in a row as we progress. The orchestra team really deserves congratulations. But the best part is definitely the piece called "The City Must Survive" that plays towards the end; this event could only be put into music in this way. There is a mathematics to this music business, but I really don't understand how people can do this, and they deserve congratulations.

    There are a few aspects of the game that I don't like. The replayability is low because even though there are multiple scenarios, finishing them takes a lot of time and effort. However, after playing the game a couple of times, you'll most likely finish it on the third try at the latest because the game has a low RNG system, which means there are very few random possibilities. This can make you lose interest in the game because if you're unlucky, your progress can be bad, and you may have to start over. But since all resources are in the same locations and amounts and the events that occur when we send scouts to different locations are almost the same (although different events can occur, the possibilities are very limited), the game teaches you very quickly and becomes very practical to play. This creates a significant difference between your previous plays because you learn the game very quickly.
    If some events and resources had many possibilities and were random, people would start developing different strategies while playing the game, but they would most likely fail. However, if they played the game repeatedly over a longer period, they could learn it more entertainingly. As someone who has managed to survive in my second game, I can say that I don't have any intention of rating the game, but if I made a tier list, I would put it in the A tier, bro!    … Expand

    Very immersive. The game look fits the frost and punk theme very well. Nice graphics.
    The main campaign is epic. The story is epic. Once done, the developers have added free scenarios, as well as there is paid DLC. The city building and tech tree makes sense.     Friendly to newbies, at least on Easy and Normal difficulties. My appreciation to the developers to two features that players can choose to use. The game allows you the choice to resume from a Saved game if you make an error, which reduces the stress of fearing that you have to start over if you make a mistake mid or late game. In other words, you can Save (or Load) at any time. Also, the game has Active Pause, meaning you can pause the game and study what is going on and them input your actions, then resume the game. The reduces the stress of feeling time pressure when you're trying to figure out what's happening. Of course, these are optional, so you can challenge yourself further by not doing these (i.e., only one Saved game at a time, don't use Active Pause).
    The main campaign, scenarios, and DLC will keep me busy for some time, and then Frostpunk 2 will come out (and I'm looking forward to it!)    … Expand

    I have around 120 hours and i am enjoying every bit of this game,,i know some people don't like to fail but i start every mission on hard and fail like 10-15 times before i figure everything out. Cant wait for FrostPunk 2

    A balanced simulator of urban planning with an admixture of survival, post-apocalypse, difficult moral choices. The past few days have proved to be a good test of strength. There are all the makings for re-passing.

You are always on edge, always figuring stuff out. Your decisions really have an impact too. It's a bit short though. After 8 hours your done.     I went through the campaign and the bonus scenarios several times and found it very entertaining every time. I come back to this game from time to time. Interesting mechanics and a unique atmosphere.

    with 400 hours invested. i love it. I can replay it over and over and you can try multiple different ways to beat it. This is my go-to when I'm just burned out on everything else.

    Музыка в игре - отдельная тема. Она восхитительна.

    Very fun, addictive, original setting and fun mechanics.
    Scenario modes are fun and encourage repetition for a bit.
    Main gripe I have is with the "laws", with not so interesting choices and forcing you to pick a way to impose your will on your people.

And it was great : the urgency you're feeling is natural with the well-paced flow of the game and doesn't feel imposed upon you. Making tough moral choices in situations that both feel hopeless and heroic at the same time - especially near the ending of the campaign, as you're pushed to overdrive the heating source - and gosh that last soundtrack when you're in the heart of it - brought me what few games I tried managed to deliver. I would say it ressembles vanilla Banished (2014), but with a more dramatic and scenic focus. So yeah UI is neat but some choices are a bit confusing and when you've done a scenario, well, you feel that you've "done" it and there's only 4 of it, but definitly worth it.… Expand

    User Interface is pure art, love everything about it. Love the style of the game
    But it seems to me that the game doesn't really have big replaying potential - as soon as you understand the algorithm for pumping the city it becomes pretty boring to play

    Following in the vein of tough emotional decision game, This War of Mine, 11 bit studios took that formula and put it into a city builder. With micromanaging between exploring, technology advances and resource gathering among many constant things that are pressing on your leadership each day. The initial story mode was great and had some random events that could happen to change up the replay factor.
    With dlc packs they added new maps you can play on with a sandbox mode. Also added a brand new story mission that takes place in the prequel of the game. Building the core before the snow takes over.    … Expand

    Интересный и атмосферный сеттинг, и неплохой геймплей в принципе (для первого прохождения). Но игра очень короткая (на харде около 12.5 часов) и резко обрывается на моменте, когда я уже распланировал как и что я дальше буду строить и изучать. И это очень сильно меня расстроило.

    Также игра, как мне кажется, совершенно нереиграбельная, поскольку весь интерес геймплея был в постепенном    Интересный и атмосферный сеттинг, и неплохой геймплей в принципе (для первого прохождения). Но игра очень короткая (на харде около 12.5 часов) и резко обрывается на моменте, когда я уже распланировал как и что я дальше буду строить и изучать. И это очень сильно меня расстроило.

    Также игра, как мне кажется, совершенно нереиграбельная, поскольку весь интерес геймплея был в постепенном открытии новых построек и улучшалок, а также в том, что игрок не знает какая напасть его ждет дальше. Ну и собственно, когда известен "сюжет" и все дерево построек, то и интереса нет никакого, только для фанатов жанра.

    Собственно, этот прикол с резким окончанием игры напрочь отбил желания пробовать второстепенные сценарии, так как судя по всему, там будет на 90% тоже самое на какой-нибудь другой локации, но только с развиваться нужно будет с нуля.

    Ну на один разок неплохо, можно и попробовать из-за колоритного сеттинга. [7.5/10]    … Expand

Atmosphere, storytelling and difficult moral choices, where freedoms are taken away from the people for the sole purpose of survival of the community is truly one of a kind. Player can take two choices - go post-apocalyptic fascism or religious fanaticism with no third option around, while desperately managing bare foundations of life supporting in world's end frost - coal, iron, wood, food and - that's original - both discontent and hope for the society. Must play. The only drawback of Frostpunk is the fact, that you wish to experience much more and yet the whole game feels a little like foreshadowing the greater whole.… Expand

Wziąwszy pod uwagę ekstremalne warunki pogodowe niniejszej produkcji, wcale nie będzie to takie łatwe. Jeśli nie zatroszczymy się o ciepło, to nasi mieszkańcy zamarzną. Żeby do tego nie dopuścić, należy uruchomić generator stanowiący serce naszego miasta. WAkcja polskiego city buildera rozgrywa się na obszarze skutym lodem i zasypanym gęstym śniegiem. Naszym celem w grze jest przetrwanie. Wziąwszy pod uwagę ekstremalne warunki pogodowe niniejszej produkcji, wcale nie będzie to takie łatwe. Jeśli nie zatroszczymy się o ciepło, to nasi mieszkańcy zamarzną. Żeby do tego nie dopuścić, należy uruchomić generator stanowiący serce naszego miasta. W tym celu musimy postarać się o węgiel, napędzający jego działanie. Jeśli nie zatroszczymy się o odpowiednio częste dostawy surowca, to generator się po jakimś czasie wyłączy, całkowicie paraliżując działanie naszej osady.     Ludzie z 11 bit studios nie byliby jednak sobą, gdyby nie rzucali nam raz po raz jakichś kłód pod nogi. Zajmowanie się kolejnymi problemami wymaga od nas ciągłej koncentracji i natychmiastowego działania. Dobra gra survivalowa absolutnie nie powinna opierać się na jakiejś prostej mechanice. Wraz z naszymi postępami liczba problemów, przed którymi stajemy, powinna stale się zwiększać. I tak tutaj sam generator nam nie wystarczy do przetrwania. Nasi ludzie nie mogą spać pod gołym niebem, bo umrą z zimna.

    Chłód nie jest naszym jedynym wrogiem we Frostpunk. Równie ważne jest zapewnienie żywności naszym osadnikom. Jeśli tego nie zrobimy, to umrą z głodu i po jakimś czasie zacznie nam brakować rąk do pracy. Zmniejszy to drastycznie efektywność działania naszej osady. Nad głodem należy czym prędzej zapanować. W przeciwnym wypadku może to doprowadzić do konieczności rozpoczęcia kampanii na nowo.

    Frostpunk bazuje na bardzo zmyślnym mechanizmie niezadowolenia i nadziei. Spełniając prośby naszych podopiecznych ich wiara w nasze zdolności przywódcze oraz w przetrwanie ciężkich czasów wzrasta. Wystarczy jednak, że nie dbamy o ich podstawowe warunki bytowe, a będą coraz bardziej niezadowoleni z naszego przywództwa. Między miłością i nienawiścią jest bardzo cienka linia. Gra niejako podpowiada nam, co powinniśmy aktualnie zrobić, żeby poprawić samopoczucie naszych poddanych. Nie wolno nam bagatelizować ich potrzeb, bo to pierwszy krok do tego, żebyśmy zaczęli stąpać po kruchym lodzie. Nie ważne ile włożymy serca w rozbudowę osady. Jeśli stracimy zbyt dużo w oczach ludzi, to zostaniemy przez nich wygnani na pewną śmierć.

    Musimy zwracać też uwagę na zmiany temperaturowe w okolicy. Gdy stanie się zbyt zimno, to nawet nasi najbardziej pracowici ludzie zaczną chorować lub dorobią się poważnych odmrożeń ciała. Dlatego też czym prędzej musimy wybudować lecznice, żeby chorzy jak najszybciej mogli wrócić do pełnej sprawności. Ważne jest utrzymanie odpowiednio wysokiej temperatury we wszystkich naszych budynkach. Przy bardzo niskich temperaturach należy pomyśleć o grzejnikach. Na generator nie zawsze możemy liczyć.

    Polska produkcja ma też walory edukacyjne. Uczy nas podstaw efektywnego zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi. Nic nie stoi na przeszkodzie, aby wysłać inżyniera do ciężkiej pracy fizycznej. Dosyć ciekawym zabiegiem jest też możliwość wprowadzania nowych praw w osadzie, jeśli nie radzimy sobie z tym co się dzieje. Wyobraźmy sobie, że brakuje nam rąk do pracy. Co w takiej sytuacji zrobić? Możemy przykładowo uchwalić prawo zezwalające na pracę dzieciom w „bezpiecznych” warunkach. Innym prawem jest możliwość wybudowanie cmentarza dla poległych, pracy przez całą dobę lub pogorszenie racji żywnościowych, żeby zwiększyć ich ilość. Każde takie prawo może uratować naszą skórę, ale trzeba się liczyć z tym, że nie każdy rodzic będzie zadowolony z tego, że zaciągamy ich pociechy do roboty.

    This is a generation game for me.
    I've been waiting for a cool strategy for so long. And this is a combination of genres, survival strategies and adventures. It has elections, a lot of stories, and just awesome hard mode.

    Like playing XCOM: EU in iron man mode, I failed a few times and in the process, ironically got hooked! This is a beautiful, atmospheric and brutal game. The whole idea of the entire campaign being a single mission from start to finish only makes it that much more compelling. Every single mistake you make is cumulative and will domino on you in the last brutal days of the story. TheLike playing XCOM: EU in iron man mode, I failed a few times and in the process, ironically got hooked! This is a beautiful, atmospheric and brutal game. The whole idea of the entire campaign being a single mission from start to finish only makes it that much more compelling. Every single mistake you make is cumulative and will domino on you in the last brutal days of the story. The graphics are great, the illustrations are gorgeous and the gameplay mechanics are impressive, if not clunky at times. Things get ugly very fast and it baffles me how people get frostbite a few seconds after I turn off the generator, even if the thing is still very hot. The music is just phenomenal.

    For drawbacks, I had trouble running this on Windows 7, and I had to upgrade to Windows 10 to make it work. But since my old OS was already scheduled for retirement, this wasn't a big issue for me.

    I enjoyed making children work brutal jobs in freezing conditions and their parents were so ungrateful and revolted. I delighted condemning refugees to certain death by turning them away. I put sawdust in soup to save rations and executed every person who opposed me. Bloody heretics!

    9/10 and would kill everybody to save the city, all over again.    … Expand

    This is one of the best survival game I've ever played. Besides few minor bugs and unexpected game behavior(game telling you 'do this in 5 days' and then troop dies after 2 days), everything else is polished, entertaining and addictive.

    it is good! though a bit simple on the mechanics and options. I wish I could zoom more to see things in more detail. the soundtrack and overall visual design are true masterpieces. don't know if it a really hard game or I am bad at these types of games. but it is a totally worth experience.

Unfortunately, once you beat the game, replayability is low. However, developers compensate that with few different scenarios, which gives some differenet vibe for a while.

    Frostpunk really has an awarding gameplay. With extreme difficulty, things go nasty fast yet even if you start on easy, you will find yourself asking for more. Very enjoyable for me to get all achievements on steam. Can't wait for the next expansion. If you like strategy/building games, you will love this!

I guess this is the best steampunk game ever. The draws are beautiful, but the story could have more movies or other elements to immerse you better into the world. The setting is great, so the only missed thing is a better introduction into the world: more background information for example.
    There is only one thing I didnt like: the moral texts in the end are so ridiculous. The people are fighting for survival and the game is thinking about ethics and moral. So unrealistic. Everyone would be happy to live and would not think about moral like "was it worth it?".

    Gameplay is very similar to Banished, where you manage your labour to gather resources. If you understand this basic idea, the game is not very difficult, I saw the end of the main scenario in my first attempt. The second scenario I played was the arche and it was even more easier, so I will go to hard level on the next scenario.
    I like some of the brutal laws and the idea to create a theocracy or police state. It is realistic, that people would do that to survive. But the law trees could be more complex, the tech tree is better, because it gives you more choices to consider.

    Some of the opinion here write, that after 10-12 hours it is over. Thats not so much true. You can do the main campaign in this time, but the campaign is just one of the 4 scenarios nowadays. And then there is the timeless mode.    … Expand

    Challenging, story driven, your choices matter. What else could you ask for in a game like this. The graphics and feel of the game are incredible and help you dive right into character. Every decision counts and this game brutally punishes you for any mistakes. Will be played many more times to come.

    A very nice game that got me super hooked on it for a few days, but once you've completed the main story and messed around endless mode, then the game gets very pointless and boring.

    So this is a game that you'd love to play for about 10 hours, but then never look back at again.

The wealth of play modes (with sliders to add or remove what you want to be hardcore or casual to tailor it even finer); the efforts of modders to add content; and it's 1880s art style; with the right game music for suspense and mystery and horrors of their games, is all refreshing for such a good price.

    Not many games pass my criticism for a complete game from game play to themes, and rarely would I rate any "10", but Frostpunk does for how they listen to players; sell games at a fair price; and any DLC isn't some absolute cash grab. It passes the gamer sniff tests of quality, value and continued support (they keep adding content for years after the initial game release and fixes bugs, too. There's more content later on in the year, too). AAA+ for a indie studio who does gaming and gamers a service.    … Expand

    The game's biggest strength is its atmosphere. The music captures the feeling of hopelessness one would hope for in this scenario and the round city is a joy to look at. At its core, it's a simple city-builder with low difficulty resource management, but it manages to keep the player engaged through its runtime.

    - you have to adopt strict laws (like e.g. make children work, or decide what to do with frozen limbs) and would usually eventually create a dictatorship

    So-so:
    - just like most of games of these type, it's a simulation where you keep optimizing stuff for as long as possible. Scripted story evens and variations in the temperature try to introduce more challenge. Some of these feel artificial. E.g. just when you've solved the heating, hunger and medical issues and everything is running smoothly, people start wanting to leave. If you into games about passive optimization and adapting to random/scripted events, it will be fine though

У игры есть свой стиль и она нормально так держит в напряжении, а к концу так вообще вгрызается тебе в седалище. Даже кучу первых фейловых траев я по два с половиной часа отсиживал до конца. Чёрт да я даже бесился уже после нескольких попыток. Но стоило ли оно того? Да...Наконец что-то, что ты не видел уже тысячу раз. Похожего сеттинга я и припомнить не могу. У игры есть свой стиль и она нормально так держит в напряжении, а к концу так вообще вгрызается тебе в седалище. Даже кучу первых фейловых траев я по два с половиной часа отсиживал до конца. Чёрт да я даже бесился уже после нескольких попыток. Но стоило ли оно того? Да...

    This is a great game that has quite the steep learning curve. A whole bunch of reviews profess the game was simple and had little replay value. It's quite possible I'm an idiot, but I don't think that's entirely true. It takes a while to figure out this one and I got a ton of replay value out of it.     But if you leave aside the building joy you probably once felt with the original Sim City games, the game does get a bit repetitive. They don't even randomize the starting resources locations in the base game, which is a comical mistake that would have been easy to solve in development. The game needs more additional scenarios then the four it comes with. I think this would have made it far stronger. Also the individual who developed the shameless cheesy clickbait title for this game requires torture.

    In general this was a good ride and well worth the price. I'm always looking for games that will grab me, give me that addictive feel, and after being gone for some time can pull me back to try again. This game has it. Not flawless, but a good solid game. Give it a shot.    … Expand

    Its a master piece!
    Its another kind of city builder! Not that traditional statistics city builder! Its focused in social threats!
    The game has that dramatic atmosphere all the time! The soundtrack is great and matches the game perfectly!

    How developers support their product deserves all thanks. At the beginning, it was a great game but with few content, but they update it almost every week and now it has second Free (!) DLC that expands gameplay. I am very happy with such support and price is sweet too.     I don't remember the last time, when I was thinking in my time-off computer about any game. In this case, I can't stop thinking about it - what is going to happen? Will I manage to survive incoming cooler whether? WIll I prepare my people well enough for it? This shows how much the game influences me and I love it.

    Frostpunk is a city-building simulation game that puts an emphasis not just on efficiency, but also the moral qualities of the player as a leader. Even if you normally don’t play simulation games, you will definitely be able to appreciate its uniqueness on a lower difficulty setting.

    Frostpunk is bleak. Really bleak. Each decision serves not to ensure progress, but to ensure survival against overwhelming odds. It’s essentially a Crisis Management Simulator, and I love it for that. Just remember to play something more cheerful immediately afterwards.
