Mar 16, 2025We’ve waited over six years, but the wait has been well worth it: Foundation is one of those city builders you never want to put down. Polymorph Games’ title has everything you’d expect from a city management sim, skillfully blending creative freedom with careful planning. It’s visually stunning, enjoyable to play, and its interface manages to keep even the most advanced and complex moments clear. The only real downside is the occasional bug and a few crashes that persist despite the long development time.

Even with a lack of challenge and long-term motivation in between, the organic and aesthetically pleasing building style draws us back into the game time and time again.

Aug 8, 2019Foundation was in early access for a long spell, and is still being updated. It demonstrates a smattering of annoying user interface quirks, including an over-reliance on multiple mini-windows and weird English syntax. But its main charm is that it provides a peaceful, relaxing world where challenge exists, but isn’t paramount. It is (and I say this without irony or malice) a safe place.
