    Fieldrunners is a very average tower defense game. There's a decent variety of enemies, but the weapons aren't varied enough to make it very interesting, and the different maps don't vary the game play that much. The graphics and music both felt generic to me. It's not a bad game, but there are better tower defense games out there.

    If you must have a cheap tower defense game, then this is good. But the fun you will have playing this game will be empty fun, nothing to take from the experience.

    Amazing game at its heart, new units add to the already great line up and increase strategy! My only complaint with this release is the Lag issue that a lot of machines are experiencing, this really needs to be addressed. Other than that this title is an amazing Tower Defense game with well balanced units and an A.I. that is forgiving in the beginning rounds, and quickly becomes veryAmazing game at its heart, new units add to the already great line up and increase strategy!     For a stress free hour or two of gaming, Fieldrunners sure is a lot of fun. Funny graphics, sounds and simple goals. The only downside is that there isn't a lot of you to do, hence it can feel a little repetitive at times.

    A tower defense game with beautiful graphics. In many other tower defense games the enemies follow certain fixed paths. Fieldrunners maps are more open, which allow more creative strategies. This Steam (PC/Mac) version of Fieldrunners is a port of the iPad version, with some tweaks for desktop and a few additional game modes.

    I absolutely love playing fieldrunners. One of the best defense games out there to date in my personal opinion, Keep up the great work guys, really enjoy the experience. Looking forward to number 2!!!

    The term that comes to mind when I play Fieldrunners is, "Standard", with perhaps a hint of, "Competent". Here is the sort of bare-bone essence of countless other tower defense games boiled down to the absolute basics. All the towers are recognizable in their functions and applications, the enemies your usual mix of various hit point levels, various numbers, various speeds, and flyingThe term that comes to mind when I play Fieldrunners is, "Standard", with perhaps a hint of, "Competent". Here is the sort of bare-bone essence of countless other tower defense games boiled down to the absolute basics. All the towers are recognizable in their functions and applications, the enemies your usual mix of various hit point levels, various numbers, various speeds, and flying units. The route building is only different insofar as most other tower defense games add a little hitch for the sake of variety, whereas Fieldrunners is stripped to the bone. Art direction is the simple and cartoony look, certainly competent, but resembles nothing quite so much as generic brand Team Fortress 2 without the charm of an interesting implied setting. There's really nothing to get excited about new idea wise.

    There are a few oversights. Playing in offline mode led to the game freezing when It tried to upload my score, particularly bothersome since it then didn't register my game as completed, so I didn't unlock the next level. There is a strict policy of needing to unlock the previous level before moving on to the next, which essentially just restricts the player unnecessarily, especially seeing how you only get 4 of the same basic towers to beat each level the first time, making a straight play through potentially quite tedious and limiting the sense of progress you would have gotten from unlocking towers.

    However, at the end of the day, Subatomic Studios are no lazy slouches. The difficulty curve is perfect, and surprisingly hard, even on Normal. There is always a challenge at every stage in the game, whether you are diversifying and upgrading a huge range of towers in the end game, or strategically placing precious, individual Gatling gun towers in the initial waves, trying to to give out just enough damage to squeak by. You also must always be considering the future, being sure that a tower you need here won't interrupt your path later. And the health system is at the perfect point where one small mistake doesn't result in what feels like a cheap game over, but even small mistakes feel like a major threat. That time spent playtesting was well spent.

    Overall, Fieldrunners may not bring anything new to the table, and it may need more consideration to the overall progression and a bit of bug testing, but it does a great job of delivering the core essence of the tower defense genre. At $5, its a plenty cost effective diversion, particularly if you haven't done Tower Defense before.    … Expand

    Ppl who give this little application a low rating have never played it. I guarantee you that. 100% checked fact why? Because our little app is BIG BIG star in reality. One of the most addictive games ever made. It's rather simple to understand though it's a really tough one to master.     Steam version is bugged as hell (major random input lag) and the developers have no idea why that happens (http://goo.gl/EAfRvN). The game would be cool and I'd love to play it but how am I supposed to enjoy that if I get a FPS of 1-3? I'll be happy to change my vote and review when the game actually runs but for now it's unplayable.

    I love defense games and when I found Fieldrunners on STEAM I was over the moon. I was on it for 5 mins when I had to play more. It's addictive, fun and has a good strategy aspect, I will most certainly be playing a lot more of it.

    The AI isn't as good at TD as those in Warcraft III, which was some of the first TD games (although the AI in Warcraft was pretty well programmed already, they still had to map it). Creeps never change direction unless they absolutely have to, so you'll sometimes get them going to a row of stun towers and throw AOE towers even when there's a safer path open.

    The game would be better on IOS, I think, because its a little thing you can do in the background. Making it a bulky fullscreen program maybe wasn't a good idea. The game isn't extremely well implemented, and a few fire spray towers will cause massive slowdown.

    Its a pretty good game to get in a bundle but I wouldn't buy it on PC if I had a choice.    … Expand

    You will be done with eight maps in just one evening. It's a nice game, but it could have been longer.
