    1200. 10/10 Back in 2004, it was one of the most beautiful games on the market (besides Half Life 2). Gunplay is OK, as well as the story, but remember, it's a game from 2004, so at the time it was insane!!!

    Отличная игра для своего времени. Физика, звук, элементы стелса, стрельба. Не смотря на возраст, игра даже на среднем уровне вызывала трепет, потные ладони и регулярные смерти.

    the gameplay just is very satisfying, graphics stil hold up well, sound is amazing, almost all of the levels are veery fun and rewarrding to complete and its veery unique game. A classic!!!

    Stunning sound design, bad game desing. Magnificent visuals, but fifty-fifty missions. Clean PC controls, but lots of lame scripts. Very good AI, but it cheats.

    hard f$&$king game It reminds a lot of CRYSIS 1, and it's also crazy. This far cry is very strange, sometimes you face monsters that are difficult to kill and the game itself is difficult, that's why I give it a grade 8 difficult but beautiful and fun In 2004 you knew your computer was good when it ran this game well! ^⁠_⁠^

    In my humble opinion — this is the best Far Cry title. Far Cry 1 has it specific ambience and atmosphere that has been lost in future games of the series. Still to this day that game can empress with it's graphich aspects. By the way, this is probably also the most hardest Far Cry title. You'll need to get some skills if you want to pass it. After all — it's another good nostalgic &In my humble opinion — this is the best Far Cry title. Far Cry 1 has it specific ambience and atmosphere that has been lost in future games of the series.     Since I finished the game, it still makes you feel playing kind of a newer game style. Never getting old in my opinion. On some parts of it just a little bit exaggerated about harder difficulty. AI is a totally masterpiece for an 2004 game. Other than those, even at these times you can still enjoy.

    The game redefines its graphics with the same blowing stuff-up storyline. This time they have added a wingsuit which makes travelling around the massive open world so much easier and just when you thought what more can you destroy that was not in the previous games, well now you can destroy bridges as well and the destruction looks so amazing.     Still amazing graphics for a 2004 game. Was quite graphics demanding for its time. Before Crysis it was...but can it run Far Cry?? The most difficult Far Cry game by a good margin. Revolutionary in many ways.

    Да зачем я вообще это говорю , все и так знают Far Cry 3 , как по мне Ваас - самый харизматичный из всех антогонистов серии.

Сюжет - ну он есть, необычно местоами, не более. ГГ - харизматичный чувак, который при этом не надоедает со своими разговорами. Псевдо открытый мир, по сути просто большие, нет, огроооомные уровни, которые можноПрекрасная, замечательная просто игра, одна из тех игр в которую должен сыграть каждый, т которую можно перепроходить много-много раз, каждый раз открывая какие то мелочи новые.     What made Far Cry stand out 'back-in-the-day' was it's non-linear missions and hybrid gameplay of stealth and action. While it could be frustrating to play because you didn't know exactly where you were getting shot at from in the jungle, Far Cry's maps were fun to explore. On the flipside, Far Cry could be very boring and frustrating to play at times because of how imperfect or imbalanced it was - a trait which Crytek's next game, Crysis, shared. But on the whole, Far Cry is a great 'Golden Era' FPS game that is frequently overlooked and often underappreciated.

    So now every time you play a modern Far Cry game, just remember to remind yourself that Ubisoft has A LOT to thank Crytek for.    … Expand

    From a catholic view it's a disgrace to play a game where you have to kill hundreds of _people_ and I did it, years ago. The graphics and controls were great and I bought Far Cry 1 & 2, but not the 3rd and won't play with these anymore I guess. The story is also ?alright?.
    The gameplay is very diverse though (like crafting, using skill points,    It's difficult to make a review here.

The first installment of the legendary Far Cry series takes us to a very similar place to Crysis, and that is an island. Sunshine, sandy beaches, beautiful palm trees and beautiful sea. Yeah. That's what Far Cry is, or at least the first one. The story begins, as perhaps every saga does nowadays, with a good old-fashioned escape. First and foremost, you'll probably be enchanted by the breathtaking visuals for the time, which few adepts at the time could boast. For 2004, it was simply over the top. The gameplay was... What was? Actually, it's still fun. I mean, it's a first-person shooter. Just throw a gun in my hand and let me go wild! This is just action with a capital A. In Far Cry 1, you're going to have a blast in the shootouts, which are great, but unfortunately, this all has one minor downside, and that's that you don't have the freedom that you do in more recent installments. The first one is quite straightforward. The map we're used to isn't quite there. There is no radar to show you where to go. Unfortunately, you don't even have the delicious choice to choose whether to drive that part silently or in action. So if you're a fan of more of a silent sneak, this action-packed game is not for you. You don't choose your weapons here and only take them from your dead enemies. Although there is a silenced MP5 for example, the enemies will still notice you sooner or later and so even if you do try for some silent progression, it's definitely not something the game is counting on or even the style you should play the game. So, in conclusion, what is Far Cry 1 and who is it for? If you love action as much as I do and you're not exactly a fan of stealth, again like me, I wouldn't hesitate too much to pick up the game. If you're not a master of English, you'll be pleased to know that there is a Czech dub! It's an old classic that can be played on any PC nowadays, so almost anyone can play it. On Steam, it costs only 10 ecus, which is a couple of hundred, and with such a discount, this game will literally cost you a few crowns. It might not suit you, as it's quite a bit different compared to newer FC games, but you might also love it.… Expand

    This game is able to provide you lots of fun with an interesting & deep story, saturated gameplay, a bit fearful encounters. There are lots of options how to achieve a target, locations & targets vary rather often, in that cause you will never feel boring from this game.

    I've been playing Far Cry since they were released. I can say that the first version from the point of view of fun, was the best in the whole series! My first hours of play were unforgettable. The game mechanics, the style of play and the excitement that the game brought, was wonderful!

    Un gran videojuego que innovó mucho con un gran mapa con una gran belleza visual , en cuanto a armas el juego lo hace muy bien puesto que añade una de cada tipo , la dificultad es desafiante y a veces puede resultar injusta , pero nada que el modo fácil no pueda solucionar , pero sin duda lo mejor del juego es el gameplay . While we had games like Half-Life 2 and World of WarCraft which were released the same year and which definitely became classic which aged much better and can be revisited today and still be fun doesn’t necessarily mean that all the other games released in the same period should be considered an utter trash. Half-Life 2 was just too good. 10 out of 10. Game of the year. While Far Cry 1 was just a good game which definitely was much better than people tend to make it to be nowadays. Of course revisited now the game doesn’t shine in almost every aspect for an average consumer but when I played this game about a decade ago I was literally blown away by the game. The graphics were insane, the guns felt real, the missions were truly challenging. I didn’t care much about the story back then but when the big monster-mutants appeared in the game I certainly was intrigued and wanted to find out what is going on.
    Far Cry 1 is far away from a perfect game…by today’s measures. I can only judge by the feelings I had when I played it then and I have nothing but warm memories about that times so for me to rate the game with anything less than 7/10 would be atrocious.    … Expand

Great strory, even it is shallow and mainly, it has EPIC mutants motherfukas, which want to jump on you from every corner. It is hell of a ride. Better than call of duty, yet looks realistic. Graphics are amazing on that time! Realistic models.

    YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T KNOW. It was so realistic, that i think in germany it was... They had to reduce violence, because even adults were shocked. Play Far Cry demo!

    I am absolutely hardcore fan of this game!!! I finished it over 100 times, heck maybe 200 times on realistic only one time :D as one level was crazy!

    Story: you take role of hardcore soldier, marooned on a island, after being contacted by undercover CIA agent, where mad scientist - Kruger makes biological experiements on animals and people to create super soldiers! It is crazy hell of ride, whole game. And it is tactical and difficult!

    Original levels, EPICness on scale out of proportions. It is like living movie. Also it has insane depth on 3d glasses. And i think this game would absolutely ROCK on VR. I can't think of better game for VR, except F.E.A.R!

It was new, fresh approach to first person shooters - end of tight and limited locations. Game's graphics had standed out in those times. Story was not special, later in the game opponents became strange. Gun feeling was satisfing.     일단 몰입감과 게임성 하나는 정말 수작인 듯 싶습니다. 하지만 동일 장르에 바이오쇼크의 깊이와 철학 그리고 연출에 비해서는 아쉽지만, 열대와 템플 등 적절한 배경과 적절한 스토리 그리고 여러 무기와 장비들이 화려하진 않지만 FPS의 근-본같은 느낌이네요.

    Everything is fantastic! Graphics, sounds, atmosphere, enemies, vehicles, mechanincs, weapons, bynoculars, story, strategy. It's lot challenging, so you have to use your brain besides your shooting skills. Unfortunately it's a bit hard to run it with nVidia on Windows 7 onwards since you better    I'm forced to type 75 letters to this review when I'd just need 1 word: MASTERPIECE.

    Wonderful. All Time Game. Colorful graphics for 2004. The gameplay is not bad. The plot is quite controversial. Few weapons. The game is pretty hardcore. Enemies are not stupid, but rather smart guys. The levels are beautiful and memorable. The Cry Engine is a great engine, but demanding for 2004. The game gets me 8/10

Well, I'm happy to own a real copy of the game (blast from the past, you know a game in a box, not digital crap) and didn't have this kind of bug. What can I say about Far Cry? I love games, that are green, full of forests & islands. First person shooters need more colours these days... have you played COD games? They're grey as f**k, it's disgusting. I wish fps games would go back to being silly and interesting (like Serious Sam, Far Cry, Painkiller, Undying and so on). FC1 is still a good game, pick it up. Pickens approves!… Expand

    I remember this game blew my mind when I young. One of my fondest memories was when I first experienced Far Cry on a PC gamer demo disk and borrowed it from my mate straight after. Give it a try if you want to see where Far Cry began.

    This is the first game I played from start to finish. Nostalgic memories connect me with this game, so I can not be objective.

    I like the idea with the little minimap for one reason: it makes the game like a hunt to kill the enemies. Unfortunately the AI is most of the time stupid, so the whole game is very easy. But sometimes the AI is good and coordinate to hunts you, especially in the open fields.

    What is bad? The campaign could be a bit shorter. The dialogs and story could be a bit more realistic to immerse better. The range of view of the enemies is too short sometime. Crowe in the helicopter as one of the bosses is very annoying und unrealistic.    … Expand

    I was amazed after I saw those graphics - Far Cry looks just great. Took me long to finish it on some medium-ish difficulty, but I did, and was really happy about it. Can't say that about FC2.

    This game is the best game form series for me. It's really challenging, hardcore and great designed for year 2004. You'll repeat some missions many times. It'll get annoying about 8th try. But don't give up, it's worth it.

Although I must say that in my Steam version of some chapters had errors in the textures and looked totally red mountains!     Far Cry is a Solid FPS I have experienced in the past, Its was damn Challenging Indeed (I cant beat it in Easy, But Managed to beat it in the 'Realistic' Difficulty') , The game deserves a 9.9/10, I Minus one point for Messy Checkpoints that is not arranged well (Don't wanna save? 'Saving game'... Killed a Boss? No **** )
    I wist they release a Ported version of Far-cry Instincts for PC.

    When this first came out it blew my mind. Levels so well designed you can choose how you want to complete them, game mechanics are fantastic. Sure the storyline is a bit weak, but who cares when you're having so much fun.

    It is really unfortunate that I have to say this is the last Crytek game from which I had a lot of fun. At that time it had everything, it was a great competition to the even great Half-Life 2. So sad that latest Crytek products wont leave any meaningful trace in gaming history, except to be remembered as benchmarks.

    Took me quite a while to finish the game I love a long gameplay. I've enjoyed the game for the most part; the levels were all exciting and, at times, scary. Combat could get a bit tricky, but I've only played in Realistic difficulty. Enemies were hard to deal with in groups but easy to pick off with a low profile. Excited to get started on Far Cry 2!

    Classic FPS. I found blowing **** up in this tropical paradise to be a rewarding experience. You can definitely see the foundation for Crysis throughout the game. My only regret was playing it on the highest difficulty setting which cost me hours of ultimately rewarding frustration.

Almost to the point of making it sound like a comedy. For whatever idiotic reason, the game alters the Windows audio settings to its liking without setting them back to their original state. This is extremely annoying. Staying in the subject of sound, do a Google search and you will see the massive amount of sound problems people experience in this game. To access the multiplayer portion of the game, one is forced to register and create an account with Ubisoft, which is absolutely ridiculous. The developers clearly reward players who specialize in stealth and skill shots rather than running and gunning. The atmosphere, mood, and setting are superb; providing a tense and exciting experience almost every second of the game. The tension you will experience is not often produced by other games at this same level. There are many parts where you will be spooked and surprised by what comes around the corner or appears suddenly. It is all done very well. Level design in this game is outstanding. The AI is good, and there is always a challenge. Far Cry is all thriller, no filler. It took me about 17 hours to complete.… Expand

Even if it's not as advanced as Crysis itself, you could say Far Cry has an unique ambience which is irriplacable.

    I do have to say that it runs difficult on Windows 7 without the 64-bit patch from AMD, so consider taking that patch before playing it on W7.

    Aside from that, there are no technical flaws except that it is still heavy for a 'old' game.

This is the greatest shooter ever designed, if rated firstly by the playability, the story setting [graphics artwork], and the pace of the 20 plus chapters of a very cohesive story. out of 22 levels, only one was poorly designed [you are basically defenceless and have to jump into a river and swim underwater thru a gauntlet of trigen. if they saw u jump u will be killed and must start from beginning of the level again. it is just a random thing, i played thru it on all five difficulties, but you can only repeat until u get a "lucky random number" and they didn't see you in time before getting to the other side where the weapons are.
    usually about 5-6 tries before you "make it" to safety and the weapons/chopper. but one dumb level out of 25 great ones is worth enduring. most other fps are wild run-n-gun affairs, no stealth no variety of experience like FAR CRY e.g. vehicles include hang gliders, four-wheelers, powerboats, etc. Weapons combat is also far more realistic with superior sound and graphics! a fps lover's dream! frustrated "adventure" puzzle lovers should stick to the half-life series, this one's for players who have REAL combat experience to compare the game to.    … Expand

    Very good game, even today I was able to replay it all and I wish more recent game simulated what this game did, just throws you into a jungle and let's you figure out the rest for there. It's a shame the sequel is such a horrible mess.

    My second pc game and second in rank to.Very very good graphics for its time and even now.Long campaign varied landscapes good AI not many weapons.The see is gorgeous.The game play puts you on a ex-mercenary role.I must say there are few vehicles but better few than none.Pretty realistic.Challenging.Sometimes scary.BUT DAMN GOOD.9

    This is a great game! Especially because it uses the CRYTEC engine WHICH IS GERMAN!!!!! (which makes it perfect!) I dont have anything to say other than that!

    I remember playing this in years ago and I enjoyed it. What's wrong with this game? it may be a little repetitive going there go to the next level and starting all over again but this game is fun for killing.

    Freaking awesome game. I recommend it to anyone. I've played many games and I believe this to be one of the best ever. The gameplay rocks. I also love how you can replay it with a higher difficulty and it seems to change the entire game, and allows for a whole other way to play it. The graphics are very smooth and look beautiful, even without a gaming monster of a computer. I have Freaking awesome game. I recommend it to anyone.     The fact that this game of 2004 has as good graphics as the games of 2008 is a monument in itself: no expense was wasted in making this a beautiful game. Now that graphics cards are actually able to run this gem at full settings, the experience of travelling through the jungles is very exciting. But enough about graphics, let's talk about the AI. If anyone has ever played Manhunt, The fact that this game of 2004 has as good graphics as the games of 2008 is a monument in itself: no expense was wasted in making this a beautiful game. Now that graphics cards are actually able to run this gem at full settings, the experience of travelling through the jungles is very exciting. But enough about graphics, let's talk about the AI. If anyone has ever played Manhunt, they know that sound is everything in that game. This game's AI may not revolve around the sound meter as much, but it certainly makes an impact on the brilliant AI. Any sound they hear is deemed as suspicious, and these guys are ready for anything. If they spot you, they will sometimes try to get backup, and they use group mechanics pretty well for a game of 2004. On the intense difficulty, they are a marvel of the electronic age. There are some minor flaws. The story is not very in-depth, and there are of course some bugs in the AI. Overall though this is really an amazing game, and is well worth the 10 dollars you need to buy this. On a note, this game came out before the source engine, and before half-life 2, so if you see reviews saying things like the game is 'a ripoff of the source engine, and Half-Life 2 as a jungle', keep in mind that some people are not up to date in their information as gamers.… Expand

Let me tell ya their tactics hurt worse than their rifles. The classic run and gum/spray and pray tactics. Anything els such as assult, ambush,Stelth its all up to you. I got this game like two years ago and I still have so much fun with it. I even think its better than COD 4 lol. the one of the last complaints I have is that the voice acting wasn't that good and the multi-player basicly sux because the maps are so huge and there can be so little players you're pretty much just end spending most of your time looking for someone to kill. But the story is simply outstanding and the awesome environments and so much goodness that you never knew so much fun could be packed into one $20 bill. I want to punch myself for not giving it a 10 But tens are perfect and this game isn't perfect but its EXTREMELY close.… Expand

    A good game will be played over. A great game will be played over and over. Far Cry is the game that continues to reveal new ways to accomplish the gametasks. There are almost an unlimited way to travel in the game. If you're tired of crawling through narrow tunnels, Far Cry is the answer. Great story line and graphics too.

    The game has plenty going for it. Most notably the AI which rivals just about any human that I've played against. What is most interesting is that the AI plays fair. It doesn't have ESP.

    It's like being stranded right smack in the middle of an action-packed B grade movie, and while I'd probably fall asleep half way through the flick, I stayed wide awake and my adrenaline was pumping as mad while playing Far Cry.
