I like this game. I know, I know, there is no guns, no cars and no chopters, but still it is a good game. Why? Well, firts of all, it is very original, the story is convincing and well written. The game is also full of emotion every aspect of it has been well planned and designed. Plus, the graphics are excellent as well as the AI. I bought Far Cry Primal for PC (GTX 980M, Intel Core i7-6820HK).

Technical: I had no errors or issues installing and playing the game (I did not pre-order or pre-download). My laptop can play the game on Ultra @ 35-40 fps, Very Good @ 42-50 fps, and Good >60 fps. I prefer to play on "Good" settings for a smoother gameplay. I think the game looks beautiful, one of the most beautiful I've seen (and I have a bad habit of buying too many games). The setting probably plays into this; the huge trees make the setting feel more filled and real, compared to the very difficult challenge of making a lot of small regular trees look and behave real without stressing your system's GPU demands to the limit.

Gameplay: This is more subjective. I really enjoy the Primal setting and I don't mind not having guns or explosions. In lieu of flamethrowers, it's pretty fun to light a club on fire and then throw it at the grass or bushes near enemies to catch them in a mini wildfire. Taming beasts is fun simply because... who wouldn't want a saber-toothed tiger as a pet. I agree that the story seems lacking a little, but I don't mind because I personally find most stories fairly linear and uninteresting in the end (excluding GTA 5, Last of Us, etc.). Don't yell at me; it's just my personal experience and preference that unless a game has a deep and intriguing story, I take it all with a grain of salt and I enjoy immersive and open world environments with challenges and the ability to level-up.

Giving the game an inflated 10 to try to somewhat offset all the MORONS who who never played the game, but automatically rate every Ubisoft game as a zero.

In reality...solid 8/10. Great graphics, amazing setting...if you like the other far cry games, you will greatly enjoy this one as well. The core mechanics are the the same, but there is enough innovation to make things interesting.

I think this is a beautiful game that was obviously built with a love and attention to detail. If you're looking to storm through in six hours, I guess it's not for you. What really makes this game and I mean absolutely money is the beastmaster aspect. I have never played a game with this feature and it is such a wonderful way of chaging the Far Cry dynamic. I love using my owl to spot targets, send out my bear or saber tooth tiger to take out or distract heavies and while the enemy are distracting come charging in behind for vicious take-downs or excellent bow head shots. Pure love. If you pay attention, you'll notice that you'll want a different animal depending on what you want to do. Need to hunt - go with the white lion. Need muscle but a scavenger - go with the bear. Need pure brute force - your saber tooth tiger is your friend. Want to take out that pesky horn holding enemy - send in your black panther to do the dirty work. Its wonderful. You can even come charing in on the back of your saber tooth tiger like the original caveman bad ass - literally scaring your enemy into running away. Dismount and send your friend to hunt the cowards down. Love it. Love the focus on the animals. Highly recommend. Expand

This and FC3 are my fav in the series. While I love FC3 for Vass and the amazing island vibes, this is another story. I always wanted a game taking place in this time period and I've got what I wanted. Loved the vibe, the places, the story, the music, everything. It was an amazing experience and someday I'll replay this one. Now to quote Soulfly... back to the primitive! Pickens approves it!

Far Cry: Primal is AWESOME so far! Firstly, from a technical point of view, the game is running great: a steady 60 FPS with no dips on a 970 (and on my other rig with a Titan X) at ultra preset. The graphics look good, a small upgrade over Far Cry 4, and for those with monitors in a 16:10 ratio, GOOD NEWS: they FINALLY support it correctly - no more black bars at the top and bottom!Far Cry: Primal is AWESOME so far! From a gameplay perspective controls feel smooth, combat is tight, and the mission setup is very good. The game seems to focus heavily on hunting, at least so far, and that's fun to me. Getting an animal companion is fun as well. I already tamed a dire wolf and commanding him to kill an unwitting Udam is just a blast. I also appreciate that there are some animals you just don't mess with right away or you WILL die. It adds an element of "holy crap, run" to the game. The AI is spot on for the cavemen (Udam) as well. They aren't terrribly smart, but they ARE cavemen, so it works with the immersion. Crafting has been heavily refined from Far Cry 4 and it feels far more useful this time around. Building a village and raising a population also feels highly rewarding becuase as the population grows and the village becomes more complex, they will actually work for you and produce much needed goods that translate to weapon upgrades and items.

Finally, one of the most impressive aspects of the game for me so far is the use of sounds. It is completely immersive and makes me feel like I am indeed right in the middle of the wilds during the stone age. Everything from the crackling of wood as it burns, to the sounds of birds in the not-so-far distance, to the cry of a lone wolf in the far distance, to the sound of wild dogs gnawing on a fresh kill just brings you into the world and keeps you there.

Anyway, all in all, GREAT so far! Get it, play it, enjoy it! Right now I'd say it's an 8.5/10 and if the story turns out to be good: 9/10.

I love how they use an entirely made up language for the primitive tribes. It really adds to the authenticity and realism needed for immersion. The gameplay is simple, fast-paced and cool as **** Silently taking out cavemen with arrows to the head and sending your bloodthirsty sabre-tooth tiger after unsuspecting villagers is extremely satisfying.

Not going to write a real detailed review since the game is ~7 years old, but just did a recent re-play of it, and it's still a lot of fun. This was my first playthrough with an HDR monitor, too, and that really made a big difference in the color of this particular game.

Mechanics were a lot of fun, the world was pretty, the story was well-told and I enjoy the beast-taming mechanics.

The environment design was brilliant, I almost never got stuck wandering around the base of a hill with no way up, there are slopes and grappling hook points everywhere. Only problem was the Izala final boss was a pain in the butt to kill. I've replayed this game twice and I now don't even bother with her because it's not fun for me. The Udam boss was no problem but with her it was just attack, take out reinforcements, repeat, to the point where you have hardly any resources left to make weapons. Aside from that, this was one of my favourite games to add to my replay roster. If you don't like collecting, crafting, taming and taking out outposts then this is probably not the game for you Expand

Primitive gameplay cycle of Far Cry, placed in primitive world, suddenly starts to make sense, and even story doesn’t feel as barebones and perfunctory as usual. Here, you’re not playing as a skinny frat boy who suddenly discovers a talent for killing hardened soldiers but ultimately just wants to get back to civilization – you’re a hunter who simply wants to become respectable leader of his tribe with a personal luxury cave.
