Kinda boring after a while, always grinding for stuff and there is a lack of weapons in my opinion. Anyone who says this is a great game is an idiot and you should check out his other reviews. One guy gave Star Wars Battlefront a 9. Of course that guy is going to love this one.

Before I started writing this, I saw a Reddit post about the fact that FC4 and Primal use the same world map. It's literally identical, they just modded it, and the games supposedly don't even take place in the same continent. I didn't notice this while playing, and that's not a damning factor on its own, but it speaks volumes about the mentality with which the devs made this game. Primal is a FC4 spinoff in an interesting setting, but with most of the features missing.

If you remember the FC4 missions where you have a tiger and you tell it to attack things, that's basically the entirety of Primal. Ubisoft do like taking parts of games that players found interesting and expanding on them, which is great. The problem is that they didn't expand on anything here. The tiger missions in FC4 lasted as long as they should without overstaying their welcome, and in no way can they support an entire game on their own. Not without adding a LOT of other gameplay. And no, that DOESN'T mean just padding and busywork, Ubisoft.

I can't recommend Primal to anyone at full price. I would only recommend this at 50% sale, and again only to people who have already played FC3 and 4, want more, AND have a high tolerance for busywork. At least Blood Dragon had its own map.

Honestly it's becoming at that point where the Far Cry series are going to be milked out like the Assassin Creed series. Releasing a new game Far Cry game every year until Ubisoft loses money. Far Cry Primal does steer away away from their traditional story like from 1-4 but introduces a pre historic era of games. But it doesn't seem to work. There is nothing interesting about this game, it's not memorable, even the gameplay mechanics feel all the same. Shame on you Ubisoft... this is nothing more than a cash grab.

This game will be forgotten in a few months, maybe even a few weeks. The only time people will use this game is for bench marking purposes and not for the actual story. Same that the franchise has come to this. This had a lot of potential.

Many problems with the firewall with Steam version, bad optimization (memory leak), and absolutely no difference with the sh...y console versions.

Now I can't say that any longer. Far Cry Primal is by far the worst game of the series, getting attacked by random wildlife every 5 seconds while trying to stealthily attack an enemy outpost is a pain in the ass, not "immersive", and having to go hunting every 5 minutes to craft ammunition just gets boring really really fast. I would recommend you pick up one of the older Far Cry games instead, which are all far better than this piece of junk.

So I usually bought games like Primal, played for many hours because I want to complete everything, then I realized that not only I paid a considerable amount of money for THIS and do not get any pleasure playing, but I spent a lot of time without actual joy. Though I keep playing, because it is like a candy crash saga, a mild drug. You like mindless game where you constantly gain some levels, collect stuff and told how good you are. And you hate yourself for this, but keep spending time on it.

Primal is so boring and lazy, even I can not spend more than 3 hours playing it. Ubisoft does not refund digital downloads, and that is good! If I could return money it would keep up my good attitude towards this studio and next year I would have gotten in the same trap of buying worthless time-spender. No, I have to be punished, thus I will not forget). Thank you, Ubisoft, with Primal you cured me of your games. I am afraid now even if a new Michel Ancel game is released under Ubi publisher, I am not buying it.

Primal's story is so scarce that if you dig a full cinematic video of this game on youtube you will not loose anything. Side missions are copy-paste: you either protect people from animals/enemies, or you escort people while killing animals/enemies, or you simply kill animals/enemies. Most of the skills are passive improvements. Even on Expert difficulty the game is easy. Collectibles now don't even have lore to them, you just have to grab-em-all! I did not like in Far cry games the fact that there is no value to new weapons, just after prologue you already get a decent number of weapons to choose from and you can use just any two of them to beat the game, but further you can at least try to use different guns to renovate gameplay. So I'd welcome less guns but more effort to get them. But just 3 weapons in Primal for the whole game is another bad idea Combat gets repetitive in the beginning of the game already. And close combat system is bad, it does not hold against Condemned or Dark Messiah of M&M.

Please, guys. If you want open world survival action, go play Dying light. It has better plot, side missions, crafting, climbing and fighting system. Seriously, anything is better in Dying light. Even the price.

    Shame on you, Ubisoft.

Same old, same old. Honestly do things ever change in the Farcry series? Feels like I'm playing Farcry 2 with better graphics and new backstory, every installment.

Having said that, yes, Primal is just as boring and repetitive as the rest of the Farcry games. And if you like that, fine, buy it and enjoy it. But if you didn't think much of the former Farcry games, just save your money.

Far Cry 3 was a good port, this is not. PC games beware. Cons:
    -clunky controls
-only checkpoint save system (console port)
    -very basic game mechanics
-very basic combat (keep pressing "S" or "D" while attacked by a tiger etc.
-your animal dies but that doesn't matter as you just call another one
    +graphics are good
+the game has its own primal language

The quests you get are ridiculous and made by some city dweller yuppie nerd. I stopped to play after 30 minutes of idiotic gameplay.
    1) First scene, the hunters let an isolated mammoth go that was behind a small rock wall !!! Ideal for attacking. Then you had to sneak through a dangerous mammoth herd, the fellow hunters set you on fire with friendly fire etc.
    2) You finally hunted a mammoth, then a tiger turns up. You can't fire a spear and everyone just looks at it in awe until they get butchered. Then your idiot protagonist wakes up from tejh trance and runs with a friend. Of course you drop your only weapon (life insurance). I mean a weapon is always teh first you drop when facing an enemy.
    3) You find the traces of a possibly friendly hunter and follow it in the night with a torch !!! In the intro they talk about maneater tribes .... I am sure you like to be the target of possible enemies. Plus it is questionable whether the friendly hunter, who totally will not expect you reacts ... you could be a maneater.
    4) That person manages to walk through a thornbush wall where you can't and you have to burn it !!! I always make big fires in a forest, I love to be grilled by a forest fire. Of course the nerd programmers were too stupid to know that, so you did not have that problem. It rained enough to keep the forest too wet and the sun only dried the thornbush wall ....

This is where I stopped playing this nonsense. One thing I know, none of the nerd devs would survive 30 minutes in the stone age ....
A good engine that could have made a great story and gameplay in the right hands. Typical AAA company, managers can pay armies fo artists, but their management kills creativity to zero. The Quality management gets a script what they have to look for and such eliminate tech problems, but don't see that the game sucks heap, since that was not on their checklist.

Suffice it to say that the free-roam and random mission gameplay is excellent! I know that those who crave the Rambo-esque style of gunplay from the former titles will likely look at the clubs and spears as a step back for the series, but I really appreciate "going Medieval" over "rapid fire" any day -- so this was right up my alley.

It's the boss fights that *completely* destroy the experience. What a travesty. I should have seen it coming after the first ridiculous "Great Hunts" (against signature animals). Rather than it functioning like anything remotely connected to a HUNT...it's simply an exercise in eye-rolling frustration as you die over and over again taking down a bear or sabre-toothed tiger with more hit points than an M1 Abrams tank. Employ strategy? Nope. Set up a tactical ambush using the environment? Nope. Craft special foods to give yourself the particular edge to emerge victorious? Nope. Tame a certain animal that can exploit the beast's weakness? Nope.

You just run around like a lunatic unloading every trap, bomb, spear, club, arrow, throwing shard, and tamed beast in your arsenal while the "Great Beast" simply one-shots or maybe two-shots everything it touches and moves around at about 150% the normal speed. After reloading 4 or 5 times to frantically mash attack buttons, you'll be able to subdue it.

Which gives you the ability to tame and use this monstrosity and all of its supernatural abilities -- right???

    Nope.

As soon as you defeat it, it seems to become a normal beast with a different look. So you can't even use it effectively against other "Great Beasts", as it will be put down just as fast as everything else.

And the boss fights against human villains are even WORSE. The fight against Ull is the single lamest, stupidest, most un-immersive, boss fight I think I've ever encountered in a video game since the 1980's. For a brief while, I thought, "No...I'm missing something! I have to be. This must work like Dark Souls -- a pattern I need to find...or a specific weakness..."

    NOPE.

Just using a few, one-off, environmental damage positions before spamming every available attack ad nauseam for over 15 minutes while Ull just continues wandering around, taking spear after spear after spear, club after club after club, arrow after arrow after arrow...and simply not dying. On...and on...and on...an on...

But -- BUT -- Surely, the other bosses won't be like this! SURELY -- it was just this fight because it's, like, Ull's special thing. Right? Surely!!!

    >

I'm not even going into the fight against Batari. Instant un-installation.

What the @#$% happened, Ubisoft??? What in honest, living creation!? I have to award this at least a 4 for the ~20 hours of incredible enjoyment the free-play provided...the beautiful world...the really neat Survival Mode... But what should have been one of the most rewarding parts of the game -- tackling the major antagonists and advancing the story -- left me trembling in rage at the utter, pointless, frustrating, monotonous, cheap, trifling execution. It's completely unforgivable. I simply have to ensure the game is in the red.

And, I'm sorry. I have never seen a title so instantly destroy every single thing that makes it enjoyable for the sake of "padding the length". The effect is awful. Learn from this disaster. Please.

Retarded like all last Far Cry, in middle and late game you need to put 5-6 arrows in enemy to kill or if this warchief nothing change in far cry 4 in bossy enemy you need few mags to kill in this game you need 20 arrows and 5 spear to kill them in naked chest. Enemy don't have armor or smothing like this so after few arrows they looks like **** porcupine but still alive.

The hackneyed story doesn't detract from the thrilling world and new challenges of 10,000BC. [Issue#249, p.45]

There is a seed of a fascinating game hidden somewhere in Far Cry: Primal, but, I’m afraid, someone else will have to find it and grow it.

Primitive gameplay cycle of Far Cry, placed in primitive world, suddenly starts to make sense, and even story doesn’t feel as barebones and perfunctory as usual. Here, you’re not playing as a skinny frat boy who suddenly discovers a talent for killing hardened soldiers but ultimately just wants to get back to civilization – you’re a hunter who simply wants to become respectable leader of his tribe with a personal luxury cave.
