The story is cumbersome and boring; the dialogue is dull, wordy, repetitive and uninteresting; the voice acting lacks any real direction - character lines are delivered limply, even by the "big name" actors. Inappropriate casting choices also hamper immersion (the choice of John Doman as Caesar is particularly bizarre).

Bethesda - get better writers and better voice directors. Your game has once again been sabotaged by a lack of quality.

This game is nothing more than an over priced expansion of Fallout 3. The gameplay and graphics are exactly the same, and while there are new weapons, the most useful are the weapons also found in Fallout 3.

SRY but this is what I can spring after playing about 5% of the game. If you succeed to get any further the score might be too low.

Simply loved Fallout 3 - was so immersed. Same thing with New Vegas - however, when walking south from the initial town, NV stops working, and throws me to the desktop. ... and my savegames can not be loaded anymore - hence the low score.

The game genuinely looks terrible for the year it was created in. Mods are required to make it an ok experience but otherwise its pretty bad. The story and locations are well written and it adds a lot to the lore, but the gameplay, guns and combat all feels really clunky.

Great game until you come to find that the game doesn't end as Fallout 3 with the DLCs, where you could continue playing the same player after you finish the main game. I really don't get this from the developers, it's just lazy and ridiculous. If you want to play any DLC you have to load a previous save file as if you have never finished the game. Freaking stupid. Will Bethesda ever patch up the thing, though? I doubt it. One needs only take a look at Bethesda's record of shoddy patching.

The bugs aren't noteworthy as STEAM sorts them all out and i haven't encountered any. The shooting mechanics are no better than they were, and the bugs are many and varied. I understand many of the concerns raised by other reviewers however that said Fallout NV is still a great game and offers good value for money due to the hours and hours of game-play provided by the main story line and side quests. There are graphical glitches and oddly disappearing/re-appearing objects but after a while you don't really notice them. I would recommend this to any RPG player.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very good game but with some terrible crashes. Numerous crashes to desktop that force you to save far more than the actual difficulty of the game requires.

By far the worst bug is one that prevents me from completing the game the way I want to because an NPC will not trigger despite repeatedly reloading and restarting the quest. This is happening after the major patch that was released too.

For fans of the original Fallout games this has some areas that have a similar feel to New Reno which is never a bad thing. There are a lot of decent quests that feel a lot darker than FA3, which is quite frankly how a fallout game should feel.

Also I have had Boone say he will not fight NCR troops then proceed to headshot them when I am not even attacking(I was wearing the Brotherhood of Steel power armour) Although it is not as bad as the Brotherhood troops that ran into a car and died or despawned before entering the building with you in Fallout 3.

I would give this a 9 if it wasn't for a bug that has wasted 40 hours of my play time but making the game unfinishable. Things like this are just not acceptable Bethesda - I always use the latest system drivers and windows updates for windows 7. This will make me seriously question buying another Fallout game.
