  1. The expansion really leans toward cooperative play. Interacting with other players is still viable and almost necessary to move along in the quest.

If you are an "Everquest" regular, you'll have a hard time not buying the latest and greatest.

While not offering much for players below level 46, The Planes of Power, with its smorgasbord of content, is a very good expansion pack for higher-level players as well as veterans who have been around since the beginning.
  4. 78
A solid addition to the world of EverQuest, but it's steep level requirements will keep a good majority of the players in the game from taking full advantage of the expansion.

Offers the most accessible, best-looking EverQuest yet, but it's still getting awfully dated, both in looks and gameplay mechanics. [Feb 2003, p.77]
  6. Mostly geared toward EverQuest's dedicated, hard-core following.
  7. It has not only breathed new aspirations into the already high level characters, it has given the up and coming characters a place to look forward to.

This expansion has depth, it's incredibly challenging, and it highlights superlative production values in all the areas you'd expect, and even in some you wouldn't. [Feb 2003, p.83]
  9. Game Informer

Certainly a great addition to the EQ universe, but falls short of the "Scars of Velious" expansion, which is still the best in the series simply because it offered so much content. [Jan 2003, p.118]
  10. Computer Games Magazine

An expansion that is about as good as it gets for the core community. [Feb 2003, p.67]
