    First DLC of EU IV that i'm not mad about - it brings disbalance in game, so you just can't start a round as you usually start - countries' behaviour became more random, which is bad for a global strategy as EU IV

    It is so sad to see one of few historical games give up in being accurate. I know it is a game, but you can at least try. I will make it in points to be clear and concise.
    1- Money. Every DLC they make money even more useless. Come on Paradox, money rules the world now and ever.

    3- Monarch points. Even more random and unfair. I know that a country had close ties with the quality of their king but this is too much. Every detail of your nation, from technology to build construction depending on your king is a exaggeration.
    Summarizing, Paradox should stop concerning so much on making the AI competitive( this fort remodel was aimed for that) and focus on make the game more interesting. No one cares if the AI is dumb or whatever. EU4 is a only one of it's kind and for me it means recreate history. However to do it you need a proper world with realistic rules not modified ones to make AI work easier.    … Expand

    This DLC improves the game a lot and makes it easier to take some provinces over others because now you need forts, can't just stake wipe because the can't get past you forts. the is more interactions with your vassels. if you don't have this DLC and you enjoy EU4 you should pick it up, you won't regret it

    This expansion is quite a good one, as it improves one of the things most disregarded in strategy games: what to do during peacetime. Adding new features to governments (like Parliaments), more interaction with your subjects (with special ones if you are into the Holy Roman Empire) and thriving in making every religion something unique, all of it makes the game win a lot of personality.This expansion is quite a good one, as it improves one of the things most disregarded in strategy games: what to do during peacetime.     New development feature allows you to take new strategies, where territorial expansion is not the only way to go, which combines pretty well with new subjects dynamics. Very recomendable.    … Expand

    Solid expansion and interesting new mechanics. A little buggy at first, but after the first patch and a few hotfixes, EU4 is more interesting than ever.

    The DLC is horrible for two reasons.
    1. Developement points. I like the idea of limiting how many buildings you can have depending on the value of your province. It is very intuitive, however having to chose between growing your cities and developing technology is ridiculous. Dividing up monarch points between ideas, technology, and war is already not an easy job. Hopefully Paradox will    The DLC is horrible for two reasons.

Dividing up monarch points between ideas, technology, and war is already not an easy job. Hopefully Paradox will have enough sense to make technology and the monarch point system seperate. They should take an example of Victoria II, but oh no people will find that game too "complicated" and not buy it then.
    2. Even less historical balance. Now in Eastern Europe, rather than Muscovy/Russia growing in size and over time becoming the strongest army in the world, it ends up being invaded by PLC repeatedly and shares Siberia with some other western power. Eventually Russia loses all its European cores and Lithuania or PLC depending on the events becomes a superpower. This was a time of decline for Poland/Lithuania/PLC, not a time that the already powerful country grew even more powerful. Britian also is so weak in the game that it just stays a kingdom on its island with only a tiny amount of meagre colonies. It is so weak, that unlike its real life countrerpart it never dares get involved in European conflicts, and occasionally gets invaded and taken over by France and one time i saw it taken over by the USA. Prussia just never forms. Brandenburg gets bullied by everyone all the time and never grows to be as powerful as the western half of Prussia. Enough said. Austria though just blobs way out of controll. Ottomans never decline like they were declining in the 1700s. Despite making an attempt to make the countries change over time like they did irl, the game ends up looking not much different from 1444, except Spain has fully taken over America, and nobody gives a damn.
    3. Government ranks is actually one good thing about the DLC. However you cannot use the mechanics unless you buy the DLC which is horrible.
    I don't care if this is an unpopular opinion but Long Live Victoria II! At this point three things bewilder me:
    1. Why doesn't everybody like Victoria II? It is all Paradox players are asking for: a complex, deep, historical, rich game.
    2. Why doesn't Paradox work on the game anymore? It has like 1/10th the DLCs EU IV has.
    3. Why is Victoria II so much cheaper than EU IV if V II is so much better, and probably took a lot more work to create.    … Expand

    Common Sense is a great buy and a great reason for another playthrough — or three — to enjoy these new mechanics and unique country/religion flavors.

    It’s not essential, and several of the really game-changing ideas are contained in the accompanying free patch, but if you’re a EUIV fan looking for some interesting new challenges, you won’t regret picking it up.
