    FMV games aren’t to every taste, to be fair, but for a change of pace, and an opportunity to jump into the genre, Erica is the best of its class. A dark, gory thriller, Erica comes across like a compelling mix of Broadchurch and The Wicker Man, elevated by surprisingly strong performances and polished production values. Pity about the restricted, rigid control options that have carried through to the PC release.

    Erica is a competent interactive movie game that would serve as a gripping B-rated thriller even without the additional interactivity. It strikes the correct balance of requiring sufficient user input to make you feel like you are in control while not stuffing the game with gimmicky interactions for the sake of it. Its short length allows for a tight story that does not overstay its welcome, although some may wish it continued for longer. While it probably will not be converting anyone who is not already a fan of these types of games, Erica is certainly in the running to be considered one of the best interactive movie games on the market.

    An effective story, some excellent performances from its cast, and very good production values do much to cover up its minor flaws and, as such, help Erica stand out from the crowd, when it comes to full motion video games. With a nice tight runtime, it’s also a game that doesn’t outstay its welcome. More of this kind of thing, please.

    As long as you don't plan on making a repeat playthrough, Erica is a great experience. Only upon replay do issues like limited narrative variation, non-essential quicktime events, and the illusion of choice make an appearance. Despite that, this is a fantastic use of the FMV genre that more people deserve to experience.

    While there are key, timed decisions you’ll make at pivotal points, most of the game’s interactive moments are perfunctory, mostly getting you to mimic Erica’s movements—be it turning the knob of a door or unbuckling a hefty briefcase. What this interactive thriller excels in, however, is its ability to keep you in perpetual suspense. It drives a compelling narrative for sure, but it also begs the question why it needs to be presented as a game to do so.

Truly insignificant choices, very heavy pc porting and poor interface, moreover with the inability to choose the chapters to play or to view a diagram of choices, or to skip the scenes.
