    If you like Skyrim, Fallout 3, NV, 4, and Thundarr the Barbarian, this is the game you waited your whole life to play. I just bought it not more than 2 weeks ago tops, and already have 72 hours in it. I have not even SCRATCHED the surface. NOT EVEN CLOSE (so I can't review the whole game only what I have seen - still that's a LOT of time). I should say this is 2020 and many bad reviewsIf you like Skyrim, Fallout 3, NV, 4, and Thundarr the Barbarian, this is the game you waited your whole life to play. I just bought it not more than 2 weeks ago tops, and already have 72 hours in it. I have not even SCRATCHED the surface. NOT EVEN CLOSE (so I can't review the whole game only what I have seen - still that's a LOT of time). I should say this is 2020 and many bad reviews were 2017 pre-patch. I have no had NO serious ISSUES so far, just a few gfx glitches rarely.

    What I Love:

    (1) the faction/background CONCEPT is AMAZING. Sword & sorcery, Mad Max Crocodile Dundee gunpower weapons, and psionic guards with laser rifles. WHOLLY CRAP. I have never been so happy in my whole life. Add in a truly diverse and epic map with desert, arctic, temperate, etc. Many many many different monsters as well, although they tend to have similarish attacks. Still, I KEEP finding new ones!

    (2) I LIVE for games where I can explore every nook and cranny, look behind every rock, and find a new surprise; this is it. If you played Gothic or Risen you know

    (3) the CHALLENGE. It's friggin impossible for multiple levels especially since the leveling system is a bit hard to get the hang of (stats do nothing except enable you to use better stuff which you need to train to use as well as afford or find); then everything is too easy, until - oops, you were wrong, it's hard again. If you're like me and play Skyrim on Master, you know what I'm talking about - very satisfying level progression

    (4) jet pack is incredibly fun

    (5) so far stories and missions are decent; surprising follow-up sometimes if you go back and see what happened after the quest was "finished."

    (6) voice acting is superb. the sound effects and music are some of the best. I love the eerie spooky woods in the valley.

    (7) graphics is decent in parts, especially the lighting, and some terrain is breathtaking. Sense of humor in many places, like a well placed skeleton.

    The Bad: Not a lot.

    (a) gfx while absolutely decent feel 2009 or 2010, pre-Skyrim level. Don't even compare it to Witcher 3 or you won't play

    (b) crafting system is uneven. Some things are very good (potions), others like golds mithing seem useless unless I'm missing something

    (c) sometimes I have money and skill points I can't really spend b/c there's nothing I can do with them and stats alone don't do anything for you. Maybe that will change later in the game.

    (d) can only join one faction so I dk if it's worth replaying the whole game to do another faction. I mean I replay Skyim every 3-5 years so maybe.

    (e) game / weapon balance is a bit uneven at times. At first, you are totally helpless. I like a challenge but it's a bit ridiculous. Then, certain weapons give you a stun-lock ability which can make you invincible except in some situations, which sorta takes the fun outta it. I know you could not use the weapon, but that seems cheap that I need to police myself. It's not even a clever exploit. It's use a certain classes of weapons, period. They are expensive though (ammo) so I suppose that's the balance? That said, I have been killed a few times even still. I'm a glass cannon actually.

    (f) not sure I like the melee system but the ranged system is fine.

    Regardless, no lootboxes, no DLC, no DRM, no season passes, hundreds of hours of content, no multiplayer nonsense and zero pandering to anyone but their core demographic should be enough to encourage anyone with a PC from the past 5 years to pick it up ASAP. Support games by people who make games for themselves, not people who make games for yachts.    … Expand

    WARNING: This is a PB game and plays/combat style just like previous Gothic games. If you do not like it you will not like this! It is brutal and you must have patience or it will ruin the game for you.

    Now, I have been a fan of the Gothic series since the first, the length and creativity put into Elex is outstanding. Huge world with such a diverse amount of areas in the game world.    WARNING: This is a PB game and plays/combat style just like previous Gothic games. If you do not like it you will not like this! It is brutal and you must have patience or it will ruin the game for you.

    Now, I have been a fan of the Gothic series since the first, the length and creativity put into Elex is outstanding. Huge world with such a diverse amount of areas in the game world. This is a game I will most likely play through twice to get to see how one of the other factions plays out and that is something I RARELY do. The textures could be a little better but nothing to complain about, they know their audience and with the open world extreme textures would melt their PC. Don't get me wrong I still think it looks good but for 2017 it could be better. I haven't gotten far into the story but am loving it so far. Will most likely play Berserker first then Cleric to dabble in their energy weapons :D    … Expand

Если же разберетесь - то залипнете надолго. Сразу покупайте у бронника щит - он стоит недорого, а драться гораздо легче. Игра по духу чем-то напоминает сразу пачку отличных игр - Generation Lost на SEGA (помните такую?), Fallout1-2Крайне залипательная РПГ, надо только дать ей шанс, и внимательно разобраться (лучше даже почитать какой-то мануал, ибо обучение в игре как такого толком нет).     I'm going to give a good review score because I want to say good things about Piranha Bytes. They build some of the best open worlds there are. This is the central reason I play their RPGs. When you play a PBRPG, you really feel like you're living in a well designed world. That said, you can't ignore the landslide of issues facing PB that make their work seem AA rather than AAA. This is hardly a surprise but there is so much they need to improve. The voice acting is awful and the translation of the dialogue from German to English is embarrassing, causing the story to make almost no sense. The combat is rough, the character animations are awful, the cold/warm system is ridiculous, the ending is poor, and the initial learning curve makes the game unattractive to new players. I should hate this game but I don't. If it wasn't for the amazing environments that they create, I'd be a lot less forgiving. One of these days, I hope PB does a good job again, putting them on the level of what they made with Gothic, Gothic 2, and the first Risen game. This isn't it, but I'll throw them a nice score in hope that they get it right again at some point.… Expand

    You have to play a good amount of time to really get a feeling for why its so great.
    If you liked the Gothic or Risen Series this feels like home.
    Also no DLC pre-order and season pass crap like most AAA Games have.

In some ways the game, at least until the middle stages, really emphasizes avoiding combat - doesnt provide much xp and the fights are tough, i really like the "feel" it gives to the game, always being scared of whats around the corner - running for your life in the wastelands.

    The freewheeling nature of the game is great, the characters are great and the world is great. If you enjoyed games like gothic, skyrim, fallout, etc. i strongly recommend sticking out the early stages. This is different from the bethesda games but it will be the same kind of joy.    … Expand

    - Spoiled adolescent/kids in general, mostly between 8 and 16 years old. Exceptions are possible, mature adolescent able to think with their own brain exists, but, again, are to be considered exceptions.

    - People who get bored if they can’t level every 20 minutes.

    - People who need a tutorial to use a tutorial. (Experimenting is out of the question)

    - People who need to be reassured at every step; who need to be hand held all the time; who need cues, indicators, suggestions, maps, bright coloured inventory e writings, pizzas and energy drinks all over.

    - People who think combat is all about mashing mouse buttons standing still in front of an enemy designed to instantly die under their crowbar hits.

    - People who think combat is all about fluid precalculated animations, linked to each other like a dance.

    - People who think that the first monster they encounter (in perfect chronological and spatial order) should be an inert sacrificial goat that can’t kill them.

    - People who think that “dated graphics” are graphics that “are not on the very bleeding edge”.

    - People who judge RPG based on graphics, animations and colours of the inventory screen.

    - People who, when encountering something they don’t understand, rage quit and write hysterical rant reviews on Steam with the “well reasoned” following sentences:

    § “This game required another 3 years of development”
    § “This game is unplayable”
    § “This game looks like it was developed 15 years ago”
    § “First Doom had better graphics”
    § “Combat is broken”
    § "This game is a pile of s*it"
    § "This game is trash"

    Elex is good. Not every game can offer you so many options.
    This game is too hard for casuls, if you are trying to play it with one hand, while holding beer in another one, it won't work.
    Git gud or don't touch it.

    This one is a fkin superb game, great story, uniqe fighting system, interesting world, infinite things to explore.
    Ignore the trolls, play this gem, make 100+ hours great journey.

    I liked game's vaste open world, story and RPG system, graphics is neat. it's not the best like in AAAAA-games there, but igood enough for RPG games, despite the haters here. So far I can recommend the game for RPG fans and for those who enjoyed gothic series before.

Those of you not familiar with Gothic series will find the RPG style confusing, and the graphics a few years outdated, but the substance and content of Piranha studio games are complete masterpieces, the detail and love put into their games is second to none.     From what I have played the atmosphere is amazing,the factions seem to be pretty good and the skills system is deep as well.     Story, dialogues, characters, world, exploration, climate, soundtrack and quests are incredibly good and enticing. Fight, animation and graphics are average. I recommend to everybody who likes great stories.

    Its not pretentious pseudo-intellectual fart, but its incredibly grounded and drops you into the world to fight for every scrap.
    It doesn't force social justice garbage down your throat, but it immerses you into its incredibly detailed handcrafted world and    Modern day Gothic 2/Morrowind. This game is antithesis to what an average modern troglodyte journalist thinks RPG is ought to be:
    Its not pretentious pseudo-intellectual fart, but its incredibly grounded and drops you into the world to fight for every scrap.
    It doesn't force social justice garbage down your throat, but it immerses you into its incredibly detailed handcrafted world and its many characters.
    It doesn't have a super tight but simplistic spammy action combat(queue W3/DS3), instead it smashes your teeth in and says to you to get good and get some gear if you want to survive.
    It doesn't lie and pretend to give you choices and consequences, its ACTUALLY gives you choices and consequences.
    Its world isn't filled with stupid markers or checkpoints, its behaves like a living world should.
    Its graphics aren't jaw dropping, but its lighting blows every other AAA RPG out of the water and makes the world feel alive.
    Is it a perfect game? No, like every other cult classic it has many faults. Is it dated? YES, almost every mechanic comes straight out of 2000s. But if you prefer the quality of older RPGs over the modern ones its THE game for you.    … Expand

    I already put approx. 11 hrs into ELEX so far yet but I didn't really noticed any bugs BUT please NOTE: I played ONLY the PC version (digital, DRM-FREE, GOG.com version), so I don't know anything at all about the current stat of the console versions. Period. ELEX has a really interesting    So, just in a nutshell now: ELEX is a really awesome, decent BUT also a HARDCORE RPG. Period.

    I think ELEX on PC can get a solid 8/10 but as you can see, I gave now 10/10 but I have a good reason to did so. My reason: If you visited this page earlier & seen the total score after release... Well, I have to gave now the highest score as possible, since many many kids on DAY 1 gave to this game 1 or even ZERO points from 10, just after 1-2 hrs of the official launch of ELEX by some silly hate, without really playing with this RPG gem. Period

    People say it's not that good because it has been released by a small studio and is far from AAA games. Well, show me one AAA RPG that is as good as this one - I don't see any.

    Pros:

    - combat system that is realistic and requires skill apart from just stats
    - jetpack - enables amazing exploration - you can reach any hill/wall, jump from any mountain (though it requires careful planning and jetpack petrol management)
    - huge, living world, full of details and interesting places
    - AMAZING quests with many possible and unpredictable outcomes that often results in unpredictable and realistic consequences
    - very challenging for all difficulty levels (world mobs are not scaled just like in reality - at first you can't take many mobs, but later on you can feel how you become stronger)
    - big arsenal of weapons and skills
    - immersive world a'la gothic - most of the things like joining a faction requires a lot of effort from the player.
    - realistic and follows its own unique way instead of repeating other RPG's style

    Cons:
    - some quests could have been described better and some are missing from journal    … Expand

    I'm in love with this game. It has its problems but at the end its great experience and adventure. Fantastic exploration! Maybe too much styles mixed together in one game. Should have better main story but roleplaying aspect and replayability is strong in this game. Very enjoyable. You should definitely try it!

    They made the Gothic again. Is it bad? I don't think so. Piranha Bytes is the gods of the hardcore germane's rpg. So there is nothing bad in new "Gothic" game. If you are a old school and hardcore gamer, which played in games like Gothic, Risen, Morrowind and etc... Elex is for you. The grate rpg in a very non-standard and steep setting where mixed post-apocalypse, futuristic and fantasyThey made the Gothic again. Is it bad? I don't think so. Piranha Bytes is the gods of the hardcore germane's rpg. So there is nothing bad in new "Gothic" game. If you are a old school and hardcore gamer, which played in games like Gothic, Risen, Morrowind and etc... Elex is for you. The grate rpg in a very non-standard and steep setting where mixed post-apocalypse, futuristic and fantasy world.     As a Gothic player i can say, that this Game has a light Gothic flair. But you shouldn't want to much Gothic in a game, that isn't related to Gothic! NPS are rough as you expect it from a piranha bytes game. The World design is gorgeous as always. Only the mix between Sci-Fi and fantasy isn't my thing but you should decide that for yourself!

    Игру прошел за 58 часов. Много бегал в поисках всяких плюшек, исследовал весь мир. Но зачастую локации - это просто локации. Редко встретишь на отшибе, в домике нпс, который с тобой поговорит. Много монстров, рекомендую навык: Друг животных, иначе агриться будут каждые 2 минуты.

    - Кружки, кружки, кружки, повсюду кружки! Задача игры, видимо была, раскидать по миру "КРУЖКИ", которые везде, и ты,♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ боялся лутать из-за кружек уже.
    - Неудобная система инвентаря и трейда.

    Плюсы:
    + За минимальный бюджет - хорошая игра, надо это понимать.

    + Квесты. Хочешь выполни и получи награду; хочешь предай квестодателя и получили награду у другого; а хочешь предай сначала первого, потом второго, и прояви лояльность к первому))) он оценит. Ну или убей их всех. Тут это полноценный выход.
    + Грамотное и логичное сочетание жанров, фаербол или плазменная винтовка? Как хочешь.
    + Бесконечный рюкзак

    Как плюс, так и минус: Взяли идеи Bethesda и BioWare. Соединили на свой лад. Вроде все классно, но ты понимаешь, как это было в оригинале, и оригинал, безусловно - лучше.
    1 Главу проходил около 53 часов. 2 главу за 5 минут, 3 за 20. Откуда вытекает понятно, я сам так подвел. Но все же! Серьезно?)) Добавили бы что ли событий в каждую главу.

    В общем и целом:
    Как, наверное, многие писали и будут писать, если вы фанат творчества этой студии, то вам понравится. Добротная РПГ. Хорошая игра. Если же вы никогда не играли в Готику и Райзен. Чтож. Нет-нет, первые азы вы освоите в первый же час, но вот тонкости а-ля тайминга атак, контроль своей стамины и одновременно стамины врага и прочие прелести, которые помогут вам одерживать победу даже в неравных схватках, пришли ко мне в полном свете только на 20-м часу игры. Ну, а как вы хотели? Представьте, что вы учитесь боевому искусству буквально с нуля. Хардкор оправдан, как по мне.

    2. Сюжет и диалоги. Боже, какие же тут нужно принимать решения! Влияние чуть ли не каждого квеста колоссально. Игра определенно для любителей влиять своей волей на происходящее, вы — буквально центр этого мира. Сохраняйтесь перед каждым решением, следите за НПЦ после разговора с ним, тщательно обдумывайте, к каким последствиям приведет ваш выбор. Еще один плюс в копилку хардкора.

    3. Мир. Путешествие. Джетпак. Во всех играх от Пираний я просто обожал исследовать карту от края до края, забираться на каждую, с виду непреступную, гору и находить там всякие сундуки или еще какие плюшки. В мире Элекса такое тоже поощрается! На каждой возвышенности, в каждых руинах, в самых отдалённых уголках карты, где, как кажется, уже ничего нет, вы найдете как минимум пару зелий, а то и уникальный итем, ну или хотя бы пасхалку в виде фотографии чьего-то кота, висящей в руинах старого замка. Так что исследуйте, друзья мои, неизведанный мир вас ждет.

    4. Монстры и квесты. Кое-кто жаловался на весьма сложные квесты и сильных монстров. Да, это так. Но кто вас заставляет драться с монстром, особенно, когда у него над головой горит иконка черепа? Используйте смекалку, монстров можно агрить друг на друга, отводить к НПЦ, на худой конец брать с собой бессметрных союзников. А еще всегда можно грамотно убежать. Только сильно на джетпак не надейтесь — в спину обязательно прилетит сгусток кислоты. Во славу хардкора! И добавлю, что игра весьма проходима. На момент написания рецензии нахожусь на 2-й главе игры, имею 16-й уровень, эквип не менял с самого старта, не прокачал ни одной характеристики или навыка, и это сложность "Ультра". Короче говоря, мой персонаж чистенький-голенький, и при всем при этом сюжет спокойно себе движется вперед. Так что не ищите себе отговорки про излишнюю сложность игры.

    Ни разу не пожалел о приобретении игры. Всем очень рекомендую, и поменьше опирайтесь на отзывы, в которых не осилили боёвку/квесты/игру. Многие обращают внимание только на то, чего разработчики не сделали, но намеренно забывают или упускают, сколько всего они сделали, чтобы мы играли с удовольствием. Все в ваших руках.    … Expand

    Negative points first, it's not the most gorgeous game ever but it got its charm and is very fun to play if you like hardcore RPGs. You can't just go everywhere you want and nobody explains you every little detail. It may be frustrating when you never played an RPG which doesn't take you by it's hand.     Huge, open, detailed world to explore with many secrets to discover. Interesting post-apo/sci-fi/fantasy setting - sometimes stupid, sometimes funny. Fine combat system - much better than Gothic/Risen. Many quests with plot, not only "bring X this to Y NPC"x100. Typical Piranha Bytes game. For me it's GOTY 2017 in RPG category.

    Game play on PC are more better, then on PS4, you need to play this game, lore are best since Gothic 3. Uniquely, if you want to play this game, try it first on PC, not on PS4.

    Best game from PB since Gothic 2! The world design is as perfect as always, the story and characters are great. The new setting just works really fine and the mechanics are okay. The combat is challenging but fun, the music is nearly as great as Kai Rosenkranz. Im glad i bought this game:)

    Its by any means not a bug free and the animations are not that good but the Feeling to interact with the game is just amazing. If you wander by NPCs they react to you and the beautiful created landscape makes it wonderful to explore every bit of the huge World. and discover many hidden treasures.

    The dense, atmospheric world got me all in once. The sci-fi fantasy setting is refreshing and innovative, a world build from scratch with a lot of lifeblood. There may be flaws to the technical aspects of the game, but the quests & story in combination with the atmosphere is so much more worth to play

    Perfect game. Mostly see criticisms of difficulty. Get,over it and enjoy this rpg, more,indepth than skyrim. Most wont get it, most wont enjoy it, find by me. PB is a small team that,knows how to make a hardcore rpg. Casual/everyday gamer beware. Looks better,on pc of course.

    This is a game for Gothic fans, and I am certainly that. It's getting a 10 because it's quickly becoming my GOTY 2017.

    Exploration in a huge beautifully crafted world, character progression, equipment progression, trainers, skill system, faction system, challenge! These are all reasons why ELEX is excellent.

    Finally, first RPG after Witcher 3 that drew my attention for more than 2 hours, for sure I will finish this game. Great story building, amazing world, janky combat that becomes great once you realize it behaves like a real-life turn based fighting

This one, on the other hand, really tingles my nostalgia :) Yes, combat is difficult - but it always was like that. I guess it has the purpose to show you that the world around is really dangerous.     I'm just wondering why those who are not RPG players would buy and review this game.
    All these complains about graphics, animations and controls and not a single word from characters, skills, quests, story and decisions.
    I grew up playing Gothic and Morrowind, so I'm not looking for some fancy graphics or an easy game, this ELEX is my heart's desire after all these years.

Trzydziesto osobowy zespół potrafi w dzisiejszych czasach nadal dostarczyć rozrywkę na najwyższym poziomie. Osobiście uważam Elexa za najlepszą grę tego studia. O minusach zapewne przeczytacie, lub przeczytaliście w recenzjach profesjonalistów z wielkich portali, ja skupie się na plusach.

    Gigantyczna mapa wypełniona treścią, której nie powstydziła by się żadna z gier Bethesdy jak seria TES, czy Fallout. Dobrze wykonane questy, niektóre z wyborami moralnymi, niektóre w układzie drabiny, wielowątkowe. Możliwość przechodzenia gry w dowolny sposób, w tym rozwiązanie questów czasem do wykonania na kilka sposobów. Nieźle nakreślona fabuła, z ciekawym wątkiem główny, frakcje, ich cel działania. Bardzo sensownie wykonany rozwój bohatera gdzie naprawdę z każdym poziomem czujemy przyrost jego możliwości. Bardzo wysoki jak na dzisiejsze standardy poziom trudności. Świetne znajdzki, ciekawe sekrety, legendarne przedmioty. Dobrze nakreśleni towarzysze, z dobrymi misjami lojalnościowymi. Niezły polski dubbing, z dość ograniczonym recyclingiem głosów. Na koniec, to co najważniejsze: grywalność. To jest jedyna gra w tym roku poza Total War Warhammerem II która dosłownie przyspawała mnie do komputera. Dawno nie czułem takiej potrzeby, a może jeszcze chwila, a może jeszcze jeden quest, a może zajrzę jeszcze tam, a może sprawdzę tutaj. To jest niewątpliwa magia gier od PB, mają dusze, sprawiają że człowiek chce w nie grać i mimo częstego widoku napisu KONIEC (po śmierci) nie zrażałem się, a wręcz przeciwnie szukałem innych możliwości. Tutaj nie ma skalowania przeciwników cała mapa jest kompletna, jeśli umiesz i chcesz jesteś w stanie zabić prawie każdego. Przy tych najnowszych sandboxach dopiero Elex pokazuje jak stworzyć ciekawy świat bez tysiąca wykrzykników, i bezsensownego pozbawionego polotu badziewia :)

    Dla mnie największe POZYTYWNE zaskoczenie tego roku ! Jak potrafisz, jak chcesz dać tej grze szansę mimo pewnych archaicznych rozwiązań dostaniesz to co najlepsze : cRPG z prawdziwego zdarzenia.     Jestem po ponad 50 godzinach z tą grą i nie mogę się od niej oderwać, a dopiero dołączyłem do frakcji. Nie wiem skąd te wszystkie hejty :(

    -Dialogi ( czasem to co jest napisane, nie pokrywa się z tym co mówią i zdarzają się przypadki, gdy dialog jest bezsensu, jakby coś z tekstu ucieli i dialog traci sens)
    -Animacje ( tutaj wszystkie animacje są bardzo drętwe ale może poprostu taki urok gry, mi osobiście nie przeszkadza)
    -Brak dokłądnych statystyk bohatera (zadawane obrażenia, ilosć życia, ilość many itp)
    -Doubletap dodge :(

    Na +/-:
    -System walki (ciekawy aczkolwiek trudny do opanowania i nie do końca działa to wszystko idealnie, zwłaszcza walka wręcz, uniki fajne lecz zużywają za dużo staminy, blok jest ok)
    -Grafika (jedni powiedzą, że piękna a inni, ze jeśli nie jest jak w Wiedźminie 3 to grafika jest do dupy)
    -Interfejs ( Prosty i wystarczający, wg. mnie jest ok, Jeśli chodzi o nasz Adjutor(?) to za dużo klikania i szukania tych wszystkich rzeczy)

    Obowiązkowa prudukcja dla fanów Gothica, innym też serdecznie polecam grę, ma ona pewne niedociągnięcia ale pamiętacie pierwsze dwa Gothici ??? Jak wyglądały, jakie miały sterowanie, ilość bugów, walka i można byłoby tak wymieniać i wymieniać, a mimo to gra zgarnęła na serwisie gry-online od czytelników 9.0, druga część jak i jej dodatek podobnie i mimo tych wielu niedociągnięć wszystko grali w tę grę z przyjemność bo liczyła się grywalność, fabuła i ogólne odczucia z grania. Elex jest podobny, powiela te same błedy ale proszę nie wymagajcie cudów od około 30-stu osób żeby wam zrobili grę typu Wiedźmin 3 albo Skyrim. Prędzej czy później wyjdzie patch, który naprawi błędy w grze :)    … Expand

    Tecnicamente è pari ai Gothic e ai Risen: legnosetto con le animazioni e soprattutto col jetpack. Se avete amato Gothic qui troverete pane per i vostri denti. Dialoghi ARTICOLATISSIMI, mille cose da fare e zone pericolosissime all'inizio che potrete affrontare col tempo. Mappa sterminata, intrighi e tanto sviluppo    Recensione fatta dopo 2 ore di gioco (che verrà aggiornata a gioco finito).

    A mon sens ces influenceurs ne sont pas objectif et on du être biaisé par des tiers studios qui par peur de voir leur

    Из серии Risen не зацепила ни одна игра. И вот, несмотря на необычный сеттинг, я могу с уверенностью сказать, что перед нами достойный наследник Готики.

    From what I have played the atmosphere is amazing,the factions seem to be pretty good and the skills system is deep as well. This is one of those games that mainstream reviewers will never "get" so to speak so the Metacritic rating is basically useless. But for people that played the original Gothic games    As far as I am concerned this is the true sequel to Gothic I and Gothic II.

    - Bugs (What huge RPG doesnt have em?)

    - Lack of "Loot". There isn't a lot.

    For what it lacks in polish it gives back in story, nostalgia, writing, and general role-playing experience. If you can get past the old school RPG feel (or even enjoy that) then you're in for a fun surprise. It won't be GOTY, but it's a nice refresher.    … Expand

    I'm sure most of the bugs/technical issues will be patched out. As for people whining about the game being too hard, have they never played a Gothic game before?     Fani Gothica i Risen znajdą w tej grze najlepsze jak i najgorsze cechy wcześniejszych produkcji PB, ale co z tego, skoro gra wciąga jak bagno? Faktycznie nie jest to ideał, ale nie za to Gothic 1 ma do dziś fanów i zapaleńców a ta gra może być własnie takim "nowy" Gothiciem :)

    Il gioco sarebbe divertente se si riuscisse ad equilibrare le abilità dell' alter ego dal momento che queste risultano essere insufficienti rispetto alla forza dei nemici. Inoltre è complicato esplorare l'ambiente circostante a causa dei nemici troppo forti che rendono impossibile il volersi unire alle fazioni di interesse per poter vivere l'evolversi della storia del gioco.

    Elex is a typical Piranha Bytes game with all their strenghts and weaknesses. It might lack polish and might not look up-to-date, but after a while it opens up and you can experience an unique open world like only Piranha Bytes can create them... ;)

    If you haven't played Gothic before and are trying to decide whether to grab this game or not, you should understand what Piranha Bytes games are and, more importantly, what they are not. Speaking generally, despite having dialogue choices, character progression and inventory management, I wouldn't call ELEX an RPG in the same sense as, for instance, Pillars of Eternity or Divinity: Original Sin. Mechanics of ELEX are much more straightforward, the stamina-based action combat is simpler and easier to understand, the conversation options are mostly limited to either accepting quests or rejecting them, leaving no room for a philosophical debate akin to Planescape: Torment.

    No, the real backbone of ELEX is its sense of adventure and real, hand-crafted world to explore. The game doesn't feature randomly generated items or level scaling for enemies, meaning that everything and everyone you meet out there is hand-placed by the developers. This, in turn, means that no matter at which point of the game you currently are, you're free to use your skills and speed to discover and loot whatever you fancy. Fall down a pit and emerge with a hefty pouch of coins, explore the dried well and find a forgotten sword stuck in a stone, fly to the top of a cliff and be rewarded with a valuable amulet that'll increase your abilities - all of this feels extremely satisfying, because it gives you a real advantage in both conversations and combat. Since the content always remains set, every small item you get, every little thing you find brings you one step closer to achieving the heights of your power.

    Speaking of heights, I can't help but ask myself whether it's ever a bad idea to include a jetpack in your game, because you'd better bloody believe it makes the world of ELEX so much more enjoyable to traverse. Can't win a fight? Fly to the top of the nearest cliff and flip your opponent a bird. Want to check an interesting spot far away on the map? There will definitely be a way to get there without putting yourself in mortal danger. Love to chill and enjoy the scenery? ELEX has plenty of vantage points for you somewhere up top. It feels good. It feels right.

    Anyway, the worst thing I can think of about this game is getting used to it. Even in the days of Gothic, the control scheme and clunkiness of movement took me several hours to get accustomed to. I suppose that's just the way Piranha Bytes operates - the movement feels a bit heavy and carries a certain amount of momentum, and that is true for both exploring and fighting. However, once you put an hour or two into ELEX, this won't be a problem anymore, and you'll be able to enjoy the game to its fullest.

    And there's plenty to enjoy even without venturing to the farthest points of the vast world, because every NPC you meet will most likely greet you with not just one, but two or more tasks to handle. Earning their trust to eventually join a faction is also a trademark of Gothic, and this just makes the characters you meet more believable and likeable.

    In the end, I think ELEX is not a game for everybody, because some of its aspects could definitely use improvements, and it's not even that polished yet - I had the game crash on me twice during the first two hours of playtime. However, for those of you who are sick of the silly open worlds a-la Ubisoft that somehow found its way into so many modern games (sorry, Geralt, but I don't feel that destroying my 837-th drowners' nest only to find a chest with useless loot counts as a good exploration experience), ELEX will be a welcome relief.    … Expand

    Nicht umsonst hat ELEX den Gold Award von der Gamestar bekommen. Ein absolut würdiger Nachfolger der Gothic Reihe bei dem PB wirklich alles richtig macht. Coole Dialoge, die im Deutschen wahrscheinlich deutlich besser sind als in der englischen Übersetzung und ein harscher, aber nicht unsympatischer Hauptcharakter. Das Kampfsystem, die Animationen und    Ein Spiel, wie es sein muss.

    Coole Dialoge, die im Deutschen wahrscheinlich deutlich besser sind als in der englischen Übersetzung und ein harscher, aber nicht unsympatischer Hauptcharakter.

    Das Kampfsystem, die Animationen und die Grafik sind sind superkrass up to date und aufpoliert bis man sich daran blendet, nein, es ist ein solides Spiel, so wie man es von PB erwartet.

    Wer noch unentschieden ist, kann gerne Dienstags und Donnerstag bei uns auf dem Kanal vorbeischauen, dann gibt's immer einen mehrstündigen Stream, der sicherlich eine Menge vom wirklichen Herz des Spiels offenbart.    … Expand

    Jestem po ponad 50 godzinach z tą grą i nie mogę się od niej oderwać, a dopiero dołączyłem do frakcji. Nie wiem skąd te wszystkie hejty :(

    Na plus: -Świetne questy -Ciekawe dialogi -System rozwoju bohatera -Ciekawe frakcje -Towarzysze -Oponenci -Plecak odrzutowy :) -Krajobraz -Umiejętności i czary -Crafting -Własna baza i jej (skromne) ulepszenia -Optymalizacja -Ciekawe    Jestem po ponad 50 godzinach z tą grą i nie mogę się od niej oderwać, a dopiero dołączyłem do frakcji.     -Bugi (tutaj można wiele wymieniać: niektóre obiekty są niefizyczne (można przez nie przechopdzic) , po spaniu czasem nie wstajemy z łóżka i nic nie można zrobić, nasza postać idzie cały czas do przodu i nie możemy wykonać żadnej akcji itd itp.)
    -Dialogi ( czasem to co jest napisane, nie pokrywa się z tym co mówią i zdarzają się przypadki, gdy dialog jest bezsensu, jakby coś z tekstu ucieli i dialog traci sens)
    -Animacje ( tutaj wszystkie animacje są bardzo drętwe ale może poprostu taki urok gry, mi osobiście nie przeszkadza)
    -Brak dokłądnych statystyk bohatera (zadawane obrażenia, ilosć życia, ilość many itp)

    Na +/-:
    -System walki (ciekawy aczkolwiek trudny do opanowania i nie do końca działa to wszystko idealnie, zwłaszcza walka wręcz, uniki fajne lecz zużywają za dużo staminy, blok jest ok)
    -Grafika (jedni powiedzą, że piękna a inni, ze jeśli nie jest jak w Wiedźminie 3 to grafika jest do dupy)
    -Interfejs ( Prosty i wystarczający, wg. mnie jest ok, Jeśli chodzi o nasz Adjutor(?) to za dużo klikania i szukania tych wszystkich rzeczy)

    Obowiązkowa prudukcja dla fanów Gothica, innym też serdecznie polecam grę, ma ona pewne niedociągnięcia ale pamiętacie pierwsze dwa Gothici ??? Jak wyglądały, jakie miały sterowanie, ilość bugów, walka i można byłoby tak wymieniać i wymieniać, a mimo to gra zgarnęła na serwisie gry-online od czytelników 10.0, druga część jak i jej dodatek podobnie i mimo tych wielu niedociągnięć wszystko grali w tę grę z przyjemność bo liczyła się grywalność, fabuła i ogólne odczucia z grania. Elex jest podobny, powiela te same błedy ale proszę nie wymagajcie cudów od około 30-stu osób żeby wam zrobili grę typu Wiedźmin 3 albo Skyrim. Prędzej czy później wyjdzie patch, który naprawi błędy w grze :)    … Expand

    Und für alle die wegen dem Kampfsystem rumheulen, ich hab mich dazu entschieden Elex auf schwer zu spielen. Und ja man kriegt am Anfang viel aufs Maul und muss auch viele viele Gegner umlaufen um erste Quests fertig zu kriegen und XP zu sammeln. Allerdings wird man recht schnell stärker und kann schon früh Ausdauer skillen sowie eine    Ich liebe es. Welt geil, Grafik ok, Quests gut.

    Und für alle die wegen dem Kampfsystem rumheulen, ich hab mich dazu entschieden Elex auf schwer zu spielen. Dazu ein ordentliches Beil und schnell den Begleiter Duras klar gemacht und man kann sich mit vielem in der Welt anlegen. Die Art und Weise in der man immer stärker wird fühlt sich wunderbar belohnend an.

    Und ganz ehrlich, ich finds geil wenn ich noch die 2 Spinnen mit zum Alb Trupp locken muss damit sich eine größere Schägerei zwischen allen Entwickelt und ich versuchen kann einen nach dem anderen in dem Chaos zu erledigen.    … Expand

    Although this game might be a bit "oldschool" it creates an intense atmosphere with great dialogues and a dynamic story. I recommend this game for fans of classical RPGs.

    Игра вышла очень хорошей в плане графики,оптимизации,сюжета и побочных квестов.Ваш главный герой был альбом - человеком,который с помощью элекса стал сильнее,но потерял свои эмоции,свою человечность.Он отправился на задание,но провалил его в следствии чего получил в наказание выстрел в плечо и падение в яму.Герой оставался долгое время без сознания и за это время его успели обокрасть.

    Багов в игре я почти не встречал.Искуственный интеллект в игре поганый.Ваш спутник не станет атаковать разбойника или еще какую-нибудь грязную тварь если он не ударит вас или вы не ударите его.
    Система прокачки очень хорошо проработана.Если вы получаете новый уровень,то вы сразу можете повысить себе параметр силы,интеллекта,хитрости,ловкости и т.д,но боевые навыки вы должны изучать только с помощью учителей.Обучать бесплатно они не будут.Что бы выучить какой-нибудь навык,вы должны получить определенное кол-во силы,ловкости и т.д.
    Лично мне не очень удобен журнал заданий,но я должен вообще благодарить разрабов,что они добавили маркеры на картах(или нет).
    Еще в игре встретил очень странный баг.Я поиграл в игру тогда еще часа 4,а уже получил ачивку "Наиграйте 60 часов".

    Amazing game, well not easy, sometimes hard, many stories in stories hidden around, and hours of roaming just for fun.
    Some minor bugs, melee combat is a little confusing on beginning, rest is awesome.
    10/10 in mine personal rpg pantheon.

    Playing Elex and the older PB gams is like joining a D&D , DSA or other Pen and Paper group without actually knowing what you're getting into...took me several restarts to finally have a build that makes the early game with all the "run there and talk your self through it" quests a little easier. And    For anyone who played the Bethesda "RPGs" (Fallout, Skyrim etc.) and similar games:

    And yes it's not comparable with any AAA title the industry throws at you with their high end budget.
    Despite the fact that the UI and Combat is very very clunky and old school i like this game for the various quest choices and rewards it gives you so u have that nostalgic feeling the Gothic series gave you. (including the various Bugs and broken game machanics lol)

    I will be looking forward to play this game as a high personality craftsman thief as this is a very good way to earn Elexit
    until i can afford all the stuff and upgrades to actually make me stronger. (stealing weapons and stuff outside containers doesnt even require any skill whatsover just dont get caught and you'll have some pretty nice weapons you will be looking forward to skill)
    I can also strongly recommend to get a companion and upgrade the group skill as progressing through the first Edan quests as it will make your life a little easier.

    I know the release version of Elex is buggy as hell (freezing bow while doing a side roll, camera, cutscenes etc.) and not everybody will like the fact that leveling up and getting stronger is actually a darn piece of work, but i think if PB is listening to the community and actually getting♥♥♥♥♥♥done to make this a little more playable (just downloaded a first update) this game will be a nice alternative to the "get exp thrown at like money in a stripclub" games out there.

    Conclusion:

    YES its a non AAA title from a german developer and
    YES the game is hard and doesnt really appeal to people new to the series, but if you bite your way through it without getting yourself devoured by it it's really not that bad.

    10/10 would get "Gothiced" by a low level critter again    … Expand

    Как перестать в нее играть??? Лучшая рпг за последние годы. Безумно затягивает и не отпускает. Хочется путешествовать еще и еще. Браво Пираньи. Спасибо вам от души за Элекс.

    И именно покупать, а не скачивать с торрентов! Дабы поддержать Пираний за такое.
    Игра очень хардкорна по началу. Миссии очень интересные. Мир это что-то... Да я уже 80+ часов наиграл, а еще 17лвл и до сих пор не вступил во фракцию    Для всех ценителей первых частей Готики - однозначно покупать.

    Одна из немногих игр, которая заставляет думать о прокачке.

    Classic PB game in the vein of Gothic. They've improved a lot of their systems, but I wouldn't expect anything ground breaking or new in the term of open world RPGs. It is a solid, relatively well put together game with a decent story and a strong difficulty level.

    Если серьезней - ПБ удалось повторить Готики 1-2 и масштабировать их на огромный мир (с чем они облажались в Г3). Из минусов пока (50 часов игры) вижу только невыразительный дизайн фауны. Живность розовая, похожая и нелепая. Из плюсов - больше всего радует поведение неписей. 90% лжет, преследует свои скрываемые цели. Квесты имеют массу решений, и зачастую приятнее скроить козью рожу квестодателю, чем педантично выполнить приказ. Кроме первых двух Готик игра сильно напоминает FNV (по ощущениям). Жаль, что прекрасная студия подорвала свою репутацию Г3 и "Ризенами", и продажи игры не коррелируют с её качеством.    … Expand

    Elex is a hard game to genuinely recommend, it does so many important things to only an acceptable level or worse. It's a game that's carried based on the strength of its quest design, or more pessimistically, one that's let down by a general lack of polish and uninteresting combat. It feels like a nice refreshing counterpart to some modern rpgs that treat their quest lists more like chores, but as a complete package, it falls disappointingly short.

    A flawed jewel. Beneath its layers a sophisticated game is hidden, created with love yet with bugs and poor technical design. The game mechanics are the top, but they are nowadays detrimental. Whoever wants to find a treasure in Elex, must try very hard.

    Although dialogue writers were burning the midnight oil, the team responsible for combat was obviously slacking off and did nothing to really improve that mess of a close combat which ELEX inherited from Risen. Monster fights are as choppy, unnatural and buggy as ever, for example, enemies slide right up a steep slope if they happen to dodge in that direction. [Issue#225, p.68]
