Oct 22, 2017Many aspects of the game are not dealt with sufficiently deep and the main core of the game is undermined by serious balancing issues, even the cure in the realization of the environment can't raise the judgment of a title that wants to dare too much.

Sep 29, 2018Miserable combat system, miserable story telling, miserable animations, miserable balancing. I only find this game (somewhat) visually appealing. Underneath it's just a trainwreck.

Oct 23, 2017Terrible controls, so much unnecessary dialog, horrible combat, no character creation/customization and so much more... The only good parts of ths game are the beautiful open world, the equipment divercity, the scenery and the jetpack exploring.

Oct 17, 2017If you are familiar with the risen series, then you already know what to expect from this game. Bad combat and animation, laughable story and boring game world.

Oct 19, 2017Atrocious. It's like PB are stuck in some kind of time warp circa 1999 and haven't learnt a single thing about game development since then. What is an interesting concept is ruined by substandard graphics, animation, voice acting and the jankiest combat system you've ever seen - and all of this at a non-indie price you'd typically pay for an AAA title - which this is most certainly not.

Oct 30, 2017This game looks like a cheap mod to Skyrim stylized on Fallout 4 and Mass Effect. I would not recommend this even to download, not to mention about the purchase.

Jan 8, 2018Absolutely terrible game. Tried getting into it numerous times, and wasted about 12 hours on my life on it. Graphics and animations would have been outdated 10 years ago. Add clunky as hell gameplay, appalling mechanics, and very average story, and you have ELEX...
As much a flawed jewel as a plastic ring in a Christmas cracker. -

Feb 2, 2018Elex is a hard game to genuinely recommend, it does so many important things to only an acceptable level or worse. It's a game that's carried based on the strength of its quest design, or more pessimistically, one that's let down by a general lack of polish and uninteresting combat. It feels like a nice refreshing counterpart to some modern rpgs that treat their quest lists more like chores, but as a complete package, it falls disappointingly short.

Jan 2, 2018A flawed jewel. Beneath its layers a sophisticated game is hidden, created with love yet with bugs and poor technical design. The game mechanics are the top, but they are nowadays detrimental. Whoever wants to find a treasure in Elex, must try very hard.

Game World Navigator MagazineDec 30, 2017Although dialogue writers were burning the midnight oil, the team responsible for combat was obviously slacking off and did nothing to really improve that mess of a close combat which ELEX inherited from Risen. Monster fights are as choppy, unnatural and buggy as ever, for example, enemies slide right up a steep slope if they happen to dodge in that direction. [Issue#225, p.68]
