Nuclear Winter is the third expansion to Duke Nukem 3D and the only expansion that was almost universally disliked the most. The game has aNuclear Winter is the third expansion to Duke Nukem 3D and the only expansion that was almost universally disliked the most. The game has a charming Christmas / winter theme and introduces new enemies such as snowmen and feminist elves. From a technical standpoint, it is undoubtedly the worst of the bunch. It is easy to find bugs here and there, the mission design is quite lazy, to the extent that two of the levels are simply “borrowed” from the original game. It does, however, offer enjoyment quite similar to the original game because the core gameplay mechanics were left untouched. There are no maze levels as in Duke It Out in DC, but to be fair, the levels are also uninteresting in comparison.

Although it is hard to argue Nuclear Winter is technically a good game, Nuclear Winter doesn’t overstay its welcome and manages to be fun while it lasts.
