So, I was replaying the Driver games this week and it turns out I forgot the e-mail for Jay_Pickens account... so here I am reborn as Jayden_Pickens! Bow before my might! But seriously, nobody reviewed this on pc? Or is it just me, that can't see any other reviews? This game is a classic! This is the game Rockstar ripped off! Bow before my might! But seriously, nobody reviewed this on pc? Or is it just me, that can't see any other reviews? This game is a classic! This is the game Rockstar ripped off! Driver came out in july 1999 on ps1 and in september 1999 on pc. You wanna know a fun fact? This game came out on the exact same day GTA 2 came out. That's right, 30th september 1999... and I adore GTA 2. But here we have Driver, the first 3d sandbox. The only thing this game doesn't have is walking out the car... everything else is basically GTA 3, but 2 years before GTA 3 came out. It's also famous, because of its hard as hell training mission. So, what is this game about? You play as John Tanner, an undercover cop and driver trying to bring down a criminal syndicate. To do so, John is going to try destroy the organization from within. That's all, I'm going to tell you here as I don't want to spoil much... either way the story is interesting. We get four cities to explore and do missions in: Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. I liked Miami and Los Angeles the most. So, how does the gameplay look like? I think you know... like in typical sandbox, we drive and do missions involving racing, losing cops, destroying other cars etc. typical stuff... but it's still fun, so I'm not going downvote it. The game is fun and you can still play it, if you don't mind outdated graphics. Also Driver has a sequel, that came out only on ps1 (2000) and gameboy (2002). I had the pleasure of playing it on my ps1 back in the day and as there's no page on metacritic for the game, I guess I'll say a few words about it here. Driver 2 expands on the formula found in its predecessor allowing us finally to leave the cars and explore the 4 new cities on foot. As I mentioned before Driver 2 came out in 2000, which makes it the second sandbox ever (after Urban Chaos from 1999) to have such gameplay were you can explore cities on foot and by cars. What else is new? More cars, bigger cities, more unique missions. The story takes place after the first driver and the main character is still John. If you own a ps1, the game is a must have. Pickens approves! Expand
