    I would give it 9/10 for pure nostalgia. It is a pretty good game and way ahead of its time.

    One of the best written games ever made! Even though I was a 2000s kid, I never really played it. Until now. And lemme tell ya. This games captures the 2000s traffic and the general vibe around them very well. And the damage model is ok too! If anyone is left out. You need to try this right now.

    Decided to give this another go and played enough to unlock another part of the city and.. it's still garbage. I don't believe any real fans of the old games won't be disappointed. Ubisoft turned Driver into a cringe worthy Burnout type game.
    Graphics aren't great, the PS1 titles had better art style, this just looks yellow everywhere you go.

    Driving is good but now the city just feels like a playground to mess around, missions are extremely silly and you can shift at will even to evade cops which don't even chase you anymore for any small infractions you literally have to ram them to get them to chase! also to unlock story missions and the rest of the city you are forced to do the side missions.
    Story is complete garbage to justify the dumb "shift" mechanic.

    So at first glance, the intro of this game looks kind of bland to me, but as you progress through the storyline, it actually gets better.

    The game was super great, a decent amount of licensed cars as well as being able to drive fire trucks, really big rigs, and a few buggys and oldies. you have a kind of underwhelming (it felt a bit rushed) but very interesting storyline, the idea of    So at first glance, the intro of this game looks kind of bland to me, but as you progress through the storyline, it actually gets better.

    The game was super great, a decent amount of licensed cars as well as being able to drive fire trucks, really big rigs, and a few buggys and oldies. you have a kind of underwhelming (it felt a bit rushed) but very interesting storyline, the idea of actually using the AI-driven (I can't say npc cars cuz of the ff reason) cars to use as some sort of barrier (basically you can switch from one "npc" car to another, practically driving any vehicle you see on the road using the sort of soul shifting mechanic), or roadblocking on your incoming street racer opponents to ruin them is really thrilling, you have some parts of the story where you would yeet the cars and a sneak peek to a 2nd person driving is some wacky yet innovative gameplay. we also have a very busy and slightly congested environment here, as well as walking npcs on the sidewalks which brings the game like that really atmospheric lively vibe to it.

    Driving physics here is almost comparable to like GTA4/GTA5, which is a quite arcade-style drive.

    For replay value tho? altho yes, you can start over the game with your already unlocked vehicles saved, I really don't think I would restart all the storyline all over. Is it the best game ever? not really. Would you play it for it's unique mechanics? Absolutely.

    And, if you want to mind control those AI-driven cars and forcefully smash them into one another, Need for speed style, to create some carnage for no reason, this is the game for you.

    oh, and one last thing to mention, you have cinematic camera while you drive. I find that one interesting when I'm making youtube videos. so overall, not bad.    … Expand

    Good overall game but it came too late to save the Driver series. At least it is much better than Driver 3 and Driver Parallel Lines.

    The basic concept is so good but it's sad it's kind of repetitive. It would be fun have more special missions and situations. The driving is very pleasant, not to arcade.

    Many think it's bad because of how the gameplay and story turned out, but I think this is the best one, especially for walking around the map and destroying cars

    Best driving game that I ever played. It has the best driving physics that I never saw in any other games. It has a good story and I never remove it from my new PC!

    I really like how the cars handle in this game, but that's probably the only satisfying part of this game. The story isn't very good, there are some frustrating missions, and not enough things to do in the city. In the end it's just a fun racing game but it doesn't excel in anything.

    Now this is the Driver game I wanted to play! That's so brilliant! And note that I'm first playing it in 2021. Man, it's one of the best arcade driving experiences I had since FH3, NFS and The Crew.

    This game is a total masterpiece. The story is fantastic in my opinion. The shift mechanic is the best thing about the entire game. The amount of possibilities that this game mechanic creates is endless. Story is engaging and characters are really great, they feel like a real person.     For 2011, this game is a cool thing as a burning story and cars turns. I finally passed it completely and it's a big story of all this environment.

    The concept of changing into any car in the city as you like is very fun and innovative, all the missions and secondary quest are engagin and never to repetitive (for a car game) but the driving is not very good for a driving game, expecialy the drifting is problematic. Another bad take is the story, banal and than in the end make all the things you did feel futile.     Really love this gameplay and plot. I played this game 9 years ago, few days ago I played this game again and thats still good. Unfortunately now online is dead, but when I played this first time, online was interesting and funny. There's almost no farming. Car driving -11/10

    My favorite in the series. and honestly my favorite racing game. the concept of shifting gives you so much creative freedom it's insanely fun. great soundtrack, dialogue, story, cars. I can't think of anything I dislike about this game. But I do gotta say it's more of an action-adventure type of game than it is a racing game but that's not really a bad thing.

    We were worried that the new Driver would be just "good one" but expectations were exceeded by far. Great story, driving physics and a top soundtrack made new Driver a game to remember. [Nov 2011]
