May 14, 2026Dread Neighbor delivers a terrifying slasher experience thanks to its strong atmosphere and multiple character vignettes, even if it stumbles in its linear pacing and overreliance on jumpscares. Its short two-hour runtime and low price make it an easy recommendation for those looking for some quick, intense scares. While it doesn’t evolve much from the creator's previous game, Dread Flats, its shifting perspectives and strong final sequence help it stand out as a worthwhile follow-up.

May 15, 2026Gameplay is mostly a walking simulator, with only a few segments that take the player slightly out of this. A feeling of dread helps build the tension throughout, leading to the eventual scare. However, the formula gets monotonous as it repeats constantly. A lack of elements outside of horror bogs down my enjoyment of the game, thus leading to a negative review. This game might be enjoyable for those who want a one-time scare for a Saturday night, or those who do indie horror gameplay videos/streams. For anyone outside of that though, perhaps this one is best viewed rather than played.
