I found this game to be a very worthy successor to Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II. I LOVED Dragon Age: Origins, and despite the criticisms of Dragon Age 2, I also truly loved Dragon Age II. I LOVED Dragon Age: Origins, and despite the criticisms of Dragon Age 2, I also truly loved Dragon Age II. I am a completionist who always plays on the nightmare difficulty setting, and I spent over 150 hours on a single playthrough in all 3 Dragon Age games (and I have completed all DLC for all 3 games).

The graphics of Dragon Age: Inquisition are great. The companions are amazing - they are so well written written and there is so much great banter between the companions themselves and between the companion and the Inquisitor. There are many difficult choices that must be made that have dire consequences that greatly affect the world. The brought the ability to equip your companions back (Dragon Age 2 dropped this, and I was relieved to see that Dragon Age: Inquisition brought this back). The main story was great, with many surprising plot twists, and was also very inspiring at times (I truly felt like I was a hero saving the world a few times).

But the switch to an open world game actually hurt the story - since I am a completionist, I would spend HOURS doing side quests (many of which can accurately be described as simple fetch quests) so that each awesome plot advancement of the main story would be divided by HOURS of gameplay (which did begin to feel tedious and meaningless at times), and this weakened the story a lot. I am not a huge fan of open-world games like Skyrim because those games always have very weak main story that isn't compelling. Dragon Age: Inquisition suffers from this. There is no compelling story arc pulling you through the game and inspiring you to continue (actually, the story arc is there, but it is broken up by hours of fetch quest, so the story doesn't feel very compelling and the story suffers a lot).

And while I thought the companions of Dragon Age: Inquisition were great, I still had a stronger attachment to the companions of Dragon Age: Origins (and I even liked the Dragon Age 2 companions a bet better).

Also, another negative for Dragon Age: Inquisition was that they made the tactical camera a secondary (and not very practical) way to play. I love the old Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Neverwinter Nights systems of pause and play tactical combat, where you use strategy and pause the game to issue commands. Unfortunately, Dragon Age: Inquisition went with a much simpler, faster paced, action combat system that requires waaaaaay less strategy. There is the option to use a tactical camera for more traditional pause and play combat, but it's controls are so bizarre and counter-intuitive that I rarely used it, and I believe the game was not meant to be played using the tactical camera (whereas a tactical camera was how both the preceding games were intended to be played). This was a huge disappointment and step backwards.

All-in-all, despite the flaws and my disappointments mentioned above, I still found the good to outweigh the bad by a large margin and feel that this game was truly a masterpiece of RPG gaming. Thanks Bioware.

I knew that when i was going to open the reviews, this game would get loads of BS 0/10 reviews. Perhaps 10% of these reviews actually give arguments, but even then a 0/10 is way exaggerated. I loved DA:O, finished that and the expansion several times. I kinda liked DA2, but it did have it flaws and it certainly was a fast cash grab. Still, it did have some positive points. But now DA:I makes up a lot. I understand the criticism for the consolized UI and such, but giving it a 0/10 is just stupid. today is the last day i will ever take user reviews into account when buying a game. They really used to be a lot more reliable than the professional reviews, but nowadays there are just too many idiots here. Not saying this game is perfect or doesn't deserve criticism, but ffs put some effort in your reviews and actually give arguments and a realistic score. Expand

Absolutely love what they have done with the overall game!!! @40+ hrs now and between the depth of story and expanse of maps and areas the game has exceeded my expectations so far. I feel for those people who own lower end PC's that cannot run the game, and I will say that the system requirements are pretty high but apart from that and the tactical controls, Bioware has done justice in bringing the Dragon Age universe to the next level:

    The Good

    1. Expansive world maps, exploration and questing system.

    2. Unlockable quests/locations

    3. Dynamic Zone Leveling to match player level

    4. Excellent story and character development. (Love it)

    5. Crafting system makes crafting your own items meaningful, some of the best items I've used have all been crafted. (Love it)

    6. Never the same setup twice, re-spawning areas change dynamically based on level. Mobs evolve or change entirely. (Love it)

    The Bad

    1. Should have some indication of level requirement for each area, can be frustrating to discover you are too low level for an area only after you've died 10x's.

    2. Performance hit for most systems is pretty high, shouldn't have to buy a new rig to play the game on current gen technology.

    3. Cut scenes are choppy and audio tends to break up if you play for extended periods of time even when settings are turned down to low.

    4. Tactical combat mode is not intuitive and can be very frustrating for PC users. There should at least be an option to turn it off for the PC. (Re-think this one Bioware!)

    5. Melee/Close Range Combat needs some help, its not fluid and people not use to having to manually control your aiming and targeting this can be a real pain to deal with. Most people I play with switched to ranged characters because they were frustrated with Melee combat.

    6. Personal storage should have been included, we get a Keep/Castle yet we have no place to store our items?? Tsk Tsk, this should have been a given... (Go go modders!)

Overall opinion is very good! I would recommend the game to anyone who loves a great story, good action, exploration and questing and RPGs.

Excellent story, voice acting, visuals, companions, and combat. On my 6th play through, all lasting anywhere from 110 to 150 hours, so it's definitely worth the money spent. I'm really enjoying all the lore revelations, as well. Beautiful, fun, thoughtful game.

The story is great, the companions are good, the pacing is good... and the DLC is very good too. Many good hours of play to be had with this game.

Take your time enjoy the ride, this game has great replay ability, because you are not going to do everything that first or even second time through- 6 times for me, almost 1000 hours= muy bueno!!!

Beautiful vistas, deep dungeons, secret treasures, beautiful armor (with crafting, naming, customization options), engaging dialogue, the list goes on. The controls are rather annoying but once you get used to them, the combat can also be really fun. Man, the hate boner people have for BioWare/EA is ridiculous.

This game is utterly great. It's massive, has interesting and well-voiced characters, the character creation is in-depth, and you can either play it as a casual RPG that's more action-y or from a more tactical standpoint (which is necessary for higher difficulties with friendly fire) Minor bugs aside, I haven't run into

Minor bugs aside, I haven't run into any issues. The controls are different than they were in either Origins or DA 2, that's for sure, but once you get used to it it isn't a big deal at all and things flow smoothly. And those that are complaining about graphics either haven't updated their drivers or they have sub-par specs for their PCs. "Plastic" hair is fixed if you raise the mesh count value up to high or ultra, and everything else is utterly gorgeous.

This is, simply put, one of the best RPGs released in recent memory. It redeems the franchise for the mediocre DA 2 and is a contender for GOTY for me, personally. If you like RPGs, or BioWare, or a good story with interesting characters, do yourself a favor and check this game out.

    * Amazing atmosphere, I haven't felt this giddy walking around and exploring since Skyrim... it's more polished though, with only the odd graphical oddity.
    * Origins level, if not better, writing.
    * Controller+PC = The most fun way to play. The UI for KB+M is lovely, but the movement is much, much better on controller..... they very much tailored EVERYTHING to work better on the gamepad

    * Use Mantle if you are AMD GPU - I got a based god 10fps bump and everything just seems to look and run better when using the Mantle API.
    * Install on a SSD for sure, load times are next to none.. just long enough to read 1-2 of the cards then you're into the game.
    * Cut-scenes were a bit stuttery as well, until I used Mantle.. AMD cards and DX11 in this game don't like each other as much.
    * The best music I have ever heard in a game, and I'm only 10 hours in.. it's just...... spectacular.
    * The Storytelling, so far, is amazing... only bested by the superb atmosphere and character interactions.
    * GOTY shoe in from what I've played.. it's the Dragon Age game you have been waiting for since finishing Origins, believe the hype.

Truly grand RPG for PC. Graphics are best of any game to date. Voice acting is excellent. Combat is very fun, especially when favoring use of rogue stealth and evasion mechanics or warrior charge abilities. The free-roam exploration where you just happen to run into quests and the unexpected is not at all linear and reminiscent of Skyrim.

The tactical combat so many prefer from Origins is present in all its glory, although there is a clear console-oriented simplicity to it, which may be a let-down for some. I prefer to only use tactical actions during boss fights or when being overwhelmed, so this doesn't bother me so much. However, the AI tactics you can configure for each character is very simplified, only a fraction of what was available in origins. I prefer the simplicity right now, but will probably reverse this stance when I go for a max difficulty second playthrough.

Crafting is solid and well designed. Not too overwhelming that players would ignore it. The potion design, upgrade, and replenishment mechanic is well thought out when you consider how camps are established throughout the various areas.

I had no intention of playing this game with a mouse and keyboard, and havn't tried it, but from all my gameplay with a controller I can't imagine that it is as good as with a controller. This doesn't really bother me though. For years i've favored the couch + controller over my desk + mouse/keyboard.

I strongly recommend a high end graphics card with 3GB or more of memory to max out the game settings. Very memory intensive.

Playing on PC with PS4 controller (xbox 360 controller emulation via DS4Windows). PC specs 3770k, 16GB ram, GTX 970.

The issue of the repeated clicking needed to fight, for starters why is this such an issue? Most games require almost constant clicking during combat why is it a crime for it to exist here? The issue of the repeated clicking needed to fight, for starters why is this such an issue? Most games require almost constant clicking during combat why is it a crime for it to exist here? Also I seem to remember in the intro section it tells you to click and hold for continuous attacking, so that's already solved that issue.
Secondly people saying it doesn't work on their computer, either your computer isn't good enough and you should have looked before you bought or is a simple error that can normally be fixed by doing this magic called re installing. Also giving a game a bad review because it doesn't work on your rig is ridiculous, you haven't played the game yet to review, so you're just throwing a tantrum. Yes it might be frustrating, I've had many game I couldn't play when I wanted to that are still amazing games so don't harm the name just because you want to have it all your way, problems occur, its a game not a divine artifact of perfection.
Finally to those saying its unplayable on their graphics cards, if your motherboard is pants then the graphics card make no difference, I have a GTX 770, not the best but not the worst, I've seen people on here with better cards complain it wont run on medium, which is interesting and I've got mine at a custom of the two highest setting and I'm getting 50 FPS. Either these people are lying, misinformed about their own cards, need a better motherboard or simply have messed the computers up and need repairs in one form or another.
As to the Actual review of the game, it's stunning, I had to show my mother, who never played games because they never looked real, and she was amazed by it, I was amazed by it ( I do not live with my mother, don't look at me like that). This is the kind of game that I'd be proud of making for the looks alone, there are places that look almost real and it's amazing to look at.
Gameplay is great, I love the choice of combat systems, being able to switch things up at any time, if you've got a strategy then by all mean you can get it down to the letter and if you're in the mood you can run at the opponent swinging at them like a mad man. I like the new informal conversation wheel, before everything felt intense, talking about nugs was an intense experience with the cameras so close ( didn't notice at the time) but now the camera lets you move your view if you're sick of someones face or you just wanna gaze lovingly into your own eyes if you want to. The conversations themselves are interesting, especially with the people you meet being fountains of knowledge mostly. I've not spoken to anyone and thought that they were a waste of time.
As I've said before the game runs really smoothly and I've yet to encounter an issue, that's not to say there wont be issues for everyone, it's a game and every game has issues for some people.
I'd advise you play it, it's a great game that I have yet to personally see a flaw in. Could it be love, maybe but that's not important, buy the game if you want a good time and if you see this a few years down the line, defiantly buy the game because it'll be a bargain now.

You can tell it is somewhat simplified to accommodate the consoles. But nevertheless it isn't something that is game breaking, just gets a little bit to get use to. Some of the combat feels clunky especially if you're playing a two-handed weapon warrior. I must admit the world map and minimap pretty much suck. Hopefully mods will work for this game.

The graphics performance is also somewhat of an issue as well. My PC can run a lot of new games pretty well but for whatever reason it kind of struggles in certain areas in the game especially outdoors. Bioware has said the upcoming first patch will address performance issues but I guess we will see whenever it gets released.

The look and feel is like the Elder Scrolls series, about on a par with 'Skyrim'. There are many NPCs with whom to interact in depth. Gore can be minimized. There are serious strategic dilemmas and a high moral tone. The theme of racism is given due attention, along with the natural tendency for faction. I found the controls easy to master with a reasonable variety of effects and complex skills trees. Anybody with fond memories of 'Origins' will love this!

Some people seem not to enjoy the interface - honestly, it does not bother me. At most there are some minor inconveniences, but I never played RPGs based on the interface system anyway. I do see that some changes have been made due to the consoles. But you have to look at the other side of this coin - without console versions they would not have been able to devout so much time and resources to one game (especially in a relatively niche area like RPGs).

The characters are so fascinating and fun. The gameplay is far better then either Dragon Age game before it. I'm having an absolute blast - I strongly recommend this game!

The world of Ferelden and Orlais come together in a mind-blowing RPG that combines the best elements of Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II. BioWare & EA, thanks for this.

I never write reviews, and this one will be very brief, but I had to offer an opinion in light of all the haters hating. First, no game is the game for everyone. If you wanted another DA:O, this is not it - this is much, much more. To summarize the difference, while I greatly enjoyed DA:O, it seems like it was on rails compared to DA:I. DA:I at first seemed overwhelmingly large. Now,I never write reviews, and this one will be very brief, but I had to offer an opinion in light of all the haters hating. To summarize the difference, while I greatly enjoyed DA:O, it seems like it was on rails compared to DA:I. DA:I at first seemed overwhelmingly large. Now, I am enjoying taking chunks out of it, knowing that it portends a long journey through beautiful vistas, battling varied foes, with far more sophisticated story branches and AI/companion relationships.

I have had some occasional frame rate and loading time frustration, but I understand the context of my three year old gaming laptop (pretty good at the time, with an Nvidia 675MX). But I can adjust my settings, and now have a smooth experience. The models, the motion - all top notch.

The new combat interface takes some getting used to, as it is more complex than DA:O. But, the combat is much more fluid. Among other subtle but noticeable advances, whereas I have often been frustrated with AI path finding, my companions are much more rational and effective in DA:I.

I cannot say a great deal, because at about 15 hours in, I have clearly just scratched the surface. Which I love.

On the other hand it retains the spirit of Dragon Age: 5-dimensional story line where different choices bring different timelines, well-written characters, and of course, the continued saga of our heroes from the previous 2 installments.

Yes it's different, I love it. It combines the open world of TES and the good tradition of Bioware RPG together. Hope that they will improve the user interface to make it more intuitive for everyone.

This game is an absolute gem. It really convinced me that there is still some Bioware left in that Vader-esque body after the galactic EAmperor betrayed corrupted it...

I am absolutely blown away by the surreal beauty of the game, the voice acting is insane, the story and characters are so rich and meaningful and the world is like a character of its own. I've never had so much fun touring around areas and discovering the wonders of the world they created (move over skyrim).

The story and political intrigue around building the inquisition is so well done - I feel invested in the choices I'm making - especially the religious dynamic - which as an atheist is a stretch. But I'm toiling over whether to accept the praises of my followers and acknowledge their belief in me (even though I'm a dwarf!), or whether to deny them based on my own uncertainty. I can't wait to see what I'll decide as the tale unwinds.

Gameplay is a good mix between DA 1 and (ick) 2. Bringing back at least a modicum of the majesty that was DAO's combat system. And replacing tactics with the ability preference system seems logical to me as DA2's more action oriented system made tactics almost useless/unworkable. Is it an old school RPG in the baldur's gate vein? No, it is more of a hybrid between WoW, Fable/Mordor and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. But it blends all these styles so well - I am *loving* the game play of the dual wielding rogue - and the random times that I use Casandra or Varric, it's a treat to see the game's different play styles come to life.

And finally the epic mission to build your powerbase, the agents, resource hunting, crafting, politics - unbelievable. No one can pull this off like BioWare. Yes I hate EA, yes they have "dumbed down this game for the console peasants" - but man did Bioware shine through the manipulation and profiteering. Thank god they kept stupid micro-transactions and incessant DLC out of the game.

This is one for the ages - and makes Dragon Age the best overall RPG franchise in history (IMHO). Yes, DA2 was a broken, repetitive, movie on rails piece of garbage - but being book ended by the epic, traditional masterpiece that was DAO and this gem of an action RPG almost (almost...) erases its horror from my memory!

PS. I have a beast of a PC, so I can't comment on performance issues. Plays amazing on ultra settings (with a few slowdowns here and there) with my 2014 xmas ~$400 purchased video card (AMD R9 200 series?). Loading times are still terrible, but what can you do.

For technical issues, yes, there are a few. The game engine is new and still definitely needs optimization. If you're on a PC, you will absolutely need to lower some of the settings no matter how beefy your system is.. But the good news is that it still looks incredibly, even with some of the settings strategically lowered.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is an amazing bundle of 4 of the best FPSs in history. I feel like I'm traveling back in time to my childhood when playing Halo 2 in its original graphics, but am blown away at the anniversary settings. So why haven't I played it as much as a Halo fan should? Assassin's Creed Unity is... well, kinda boring and almost completely broken. But, it's better than AC3. So why I haven't I played it. It's because I can't bring myself to stop playing Dragon Age Inquisition. The story is pretty standard. It doesn't do anything wrong, but it's not revolutionary. But the way the game tells the story and lets events unfold is masterful. You can go at your own pace, separating story missions with hours upon hours of side quests and extra exploration (I have gone literally 12 hours since my last main story mission). The characters are great. They all banter with each other, they all have their own backstories, which you can choose to learn or choose to ignore, and they all have their own personality. Every one is distinct from one another, and you actually care about them and what happens with their personal lives outside of the Inquisition. The combat is a hybrid system between Origins and DA2, favoring DA2 more, which is good for someone like me. However, you can stay in tactical mode for every encounter if you want to play the role of a brilliant strategist. Graphically, the game looks great and I've run into no technical issues or frame-dips (playing on Xbox One). It's a little disappointing that the controller restricts you to only 8 abilities on your "hotbar," but that could be thought of as a compliment, considering how deep the skill trees are and how many abilities you can unlock. The voice acting is second to none. Lip-syncing is amazing (which isn't a point I usually give praise for, but I was playing AC:Unity before I started this game and good lord the lip-syncing in that game looks as though it was done by an intern who got the job only because his dad knows somebody and not because of ability). Practically every line of dialogue is expertly delivered.
All in all, the game is fantastic. If you buy games purely for value, then this is your game of the year. I've put around 50 hours into the game so far, and I'm not even halfway through the story yet. A fantastic experience all RPG fans can enjoy.

    1. Graphics.

I play on everything maxed up and graphics range from amazing to very good, strangely, some environments are much better then others. Animations are fluid and good, except can appear a bit rigid during cutscenes. Overall, in most places graphics are breathtaking, and in a great open world - it is just epic.

    2. Story

In fact, this is the main aspect of any game for me. Gameplay, graphics, music - yes they are all important but the thing that keeps pushing me to play is the story. Now here, it does not disappoint - as expected from Bioware, It starts a little full on and abrupt, but quickly engages you into it, pushes you to make decisions and really invest in whats going on. Beginning lacks any cutscenes, and it is great as you make your own cutscenes through playing! Story and setting are really well crafted Yes, it lacks deep moral dillemas of Witcher 2, but here you have four races to choose from and three classes too! And these decisions affect not only the gameplay, but story, NPC reactions and your progression. Story quickly develops and really opens up the more you play. Everything has its reasons, and it all feels epic and the scope is epic too - think LoTR. You never find yourself thinking, 'Whats a point of this?' or 'What am I supposed to do next?'. I dont want to spoil the story for you but trust me, its epic! And you characters, where do I even start? You can chat with them after every mission. they always have something to say or comment on what you have been doing, they chat during the adventures and seem to have an opinion on everything. You can make friends and enemies here , so be careful. Also, unlike previous games and Mass Effect series, here if you play as a mage, you feel as a mage! Or a rogue, or a templar! And people see you like you are.

    3. Gameplay

Now this is important in the game, right? Right. PC controls are a bit tricky and hard to get used to, however, after tweaking them a bit - make A and D buttins do strafe as in action game, and move the view with your mouse buttons(also swap left and right buttons, makes way more sense and can be done in options), you can then play similar to how you would in say, Witcher 2. When you start the game, it looks easy and not complex at all. However, as you level up you find some things the game does different from others: you dont have to 'waste' skill points just to get to some abilities you would actually use, here every ability is useful from the start, and you feel good using them. But what really surprised me, every ability or spell has its own place until the very end! They dont replace each other as in other games, and I love it for that! Say, lighting bolt does moderate damage to one enemy, and paralyses him, preventing from attacks or casting spells, mid animation if you can time it right! But Immolate, in fire school, panicks enemies instead, and other fire spell you get, does heavy AoE damage but lack crowd control effect. Its highly tactical, and every active ability also has an upgrade.. What is more, passives here are not just stat boosts - how about surrounding yourself with electrical energy while casting spells?

On top of that, you also have cross class combos! Hitting paralysed enemy with melee ability results in arcs of energy stunning everyone! Then, enemies have resistances and weaknesses you can see in tactical camera( which is btw really useful in difficult battles). Guess what? You also have specializations, 3 per class, but to do them you have to complete a quest too, and then reactions of everyone around you changes according to your spec! (hint, people hate necromancers:) ) And there are also ultimate 'focus' abilities too! And did I mention it has crafting? Weapon and armor mods? Selection of mounts to ride? Your keep customization? Potion making? And many, many side quests to do? And quests only involving the dialogue and your wits? But what about whole inquisition stuff?! You have a large map to plan your next move, you send your advisors to deal with threats(think who you send), you gain 'influence' and 'power' and then use it to move plot forward. You also gain strategic 'perks', you can choose what you like - open up new dialogue options relating to arcane knowledge or let you rogues open locked chests? Its amazing what can you do here, and the game continues to amaze you as you play, opening up more and more options for you! Lore is very deep, and music is astounding! (there are songs, too, a-la Hobbit movie).

I can just continue going on and on how this is the best game ever made, and how even for people who never got into other Dragon Age games this is a must play, but word limit. Just buy the game, you will not regret. Now go, Inquisitor, and bring light!(or be an **** you choose)

Story----9 (8): The DAI story is pretty good, even great if you are a fan of the games and books. It has a couple of plot holes holding it back and there are a few elements that didn't feel very well fleshed out. As a fan of the world I give it a 9 but an 8 seems right for most people who just play the games.

Visuals----10: You will see Thedas as you have never seen it before. This game is visually impressive and artistically genius. The characters, the scenery, the special effects; when dialed all the way up, this game is simply breathtaking. The cut scenes are as good as any Bioware has ever done. They stutter due to being capped at 30fps but there is a fix for it (use google). Despite this stutter (and poor decision to cap the scenes at 30fps by Bioware) the quality and beauty of the game world are so good that I could not give this less than 10.

Sound----10: Though the music is quite dull, it is extremely effective at its goal of creating ambiance. And I think that is what matters most. The voice acting however, is some of the best I've ever heard. As an actor myself, I am impressed with the range and quality of the voice actors.

Game Design----9: I know a lot of people complain about the quality of the controls on the PC. Personally I use an Xbox controller and have been extremely satisfied with the controls. The camera can be clunky at times and I ran into a couple of minor bugs. But I have not had any of the problems others have reported. Maybe I'm just lucky I don't know. Inquisition is also a massive game, easily larger than Skyrim. As much as I love Skyrim, the quality and quantity of Inquisition's content is unmatched.

Fun factor----9: DAI can be a bit repetitive, especially if you are playing as a warrior. But at higher difficulties you really have to make the most of the tactical overview. Even though the tactics at your disposal are somewhat limited early on, later on in the game they really open up, creating a feeling very much akin to Origins. You can play this game for hundreds of hours and not be bored.

Overall---10: I am on my second play through right now, and I am continually impressed by Inquisition. I don't understand what most of the negative reviewers are talking about at all. I did not follow the game's development very closely. And I think the game may be a victim of hype. If you are a fan of RPGs this game is a must buy. If you rated it a zero no game could ever meet your expectations and you should just stop playing video games entirely.

I will say frankly. Given that I have a weakness for Bioware games, i would say that my opinion is irrelevant, but objectively speaking, this game is absolutely fantastic. I am absolutely loving this game right now. There is so much content in this game that I could easily see myself poring 200+ hours into the game. Voice acting is amazing, characters are absolutely wonderful (Iron Bull). I would have spent $100 to play this game if I had to. There aren't too many boring quests but I can defiantly understand where people are getting this grinding felling from however all of those quests are optional and make sense. For example one quest has you collect ram meet for a starving village, so you have to collect some ram meat. All of these quests are optional as well. performance wise I can run this game at 60+ FPS constantly with a 970 and 4790k both over clocked at right around ultra settings. I would recommend putting this on a SSD because loading times can be a bit cumbersome sometimes. Expand

My personal Game of The Year 2014.

Great visuals, great story, even greater atmosphere and lands to explore. Tons of content. My favorite aspect is the battle system. Some people dislike it, I really..really like it. It is versatile. I'm about 62 hours into the game and still enjoying every second of it.

Bioware has given us another masterpiece. The game is huge and the story so far is engaging. There is so much to do. People giving 0 reviews because of hardware failures are not doing this game justice. The game itself is amazing and will give you hours of enjoyment. One of my favorite RPG's ever.

Dragon Age Inquisition takes the greatest aspects of a classic Bioware RPG and combines them with stunning visuals and an exploration system that is one of the best to date. Take all this and add a deep, emotional Bioware style story, and you have one of the best RPG's to date.

The negative reviews are baffling. I've only just reached the forward camp location, and I'm already having as much fun as I had in Skyrim. The game is beautiful! If your characters look like they've been dipped in oil, just turn the graphics settings up. It's so good to hang out with Varric again! Great job, BioWare. I hope these buttheads don't get you down.

I REALLY liked Dragon Age Origins when it came out and thought it was a perfect example of RPGs. I JUST replayed it in anticipation of DA:I, and also DA2 which I didn't enjoy nearly as much.

I LOVE DA:I. I think it's a great RPG, and I am ashamed of the internet for it's reviews. Computer games always get mixed reviews but all these 0's for complaints that should be a) ignored, or b) held until their issues are resolved, or c) measured in a different manner.

A lot of these 0s are realistically 5s-7s. I'm continually finding metacritic to just be a cesspool of hate, worse than any forum. I actually want it to go away because some game companies measure bonuses off of user reviews. People have been fired from them. I've taken a look at multiple people's reviews here, and they all seem to be 10's or 0s. Where are the honest reviews?

This game is getting a ten from me for three reasons. A) I've really enjoyed it, and it has been worth the amount of time I've put in it. B) I personally have enjoyed the story. (Everyone has claimed its underwhelming, and I don't know what people are talking about, it's pretty standard fare... but we realistically get **** stories every game, and I particularly enjoy those that really step forward but I don't down vote those that are enjoyable) and C) I've thought the graphics, content and gameplay to be entertaining.

I think people should have to register their game code to post reviews, because quite frankly I'm not convinced half of these 0's have played the same game as me. Or they just can't understand/read english.

To me this game is comparable to skyrim, but is less repetitive with more of a story, the dragon battles in this game compared to that are INCREDIBLE. This is NOT Skyrim's massive open world, but it is far more open world than ANY of the Dragon Age's prior to it.

This is a solid step up for Dragon age and I'm excited to see the next one.

**** All you 0's for nonsense reviews. The fact that there are only 75 mixed reviews is a shame.... This site is so polarizing.

I was somewhat sceptical as the pre -release footage indicated to me that BIoware took more from DA 2 than they did from Origins (including the questionable art style). That being said, this is a far, far better game than DA 2, and does not deserve the number of zero scores it is getting here.

I am playing on PC and yes, it is glitchy and crash prone (Sandybridge i7 2600K, 8 gig of RAM and 4GB Nvidia 680 playing at 2560x1440) - though I am playing it with an xbox controller so cannot comment on the KB/M controls. Yet, despite that I would still give it an 8/10 (I am only raising that to 10 to counter the number of unfair zero's it has been getting. The game is fin, has epic scope and lots to do. I do not find it a single player MMO as some have suggested - it is no Kingdom's of Amalur for me, as the story and characters draw you in and keep me interested in the world (something that KOA singularly failed to do).

If you are on the fence about this game - give it a go. I have been pleasantly surprised, My interest in Dragon Age dies when they released DA2 but I am back in the world of Thedas and loving it,

It is not DA origins and if you want it to be- you'll be upset. It's not a 'stat based' rpg, it's not.. a lot of things.. it's... Modern, and by god is it amazing!

There are a dozen things I could complain about, the odd glitch here & there.. leveling up too easy (that's my fault- I'm a completionist) and the god awful melee system D: (I play as a sword & board warrior) It really does bother me that I can't click someone and have my guy run over & attack, you have to run up to the enemy and click (or hold R)..I get the purpose, and it does make you feel a bit more immersed..until you find yourself swinging your sword right in someone's face & barely missing them:P.

    Anyways-

It really is the little things in this game that set it apart- for example you can dynamically acquire "agents" throughout the game, find someone that could be an asset to you? Recruit them. It happens in such a fluid-immersion way that I am always really excited about it!

The graphics! The people look about the same buy ooooooh the scenery- just hit the western approach and HOLY SH** some beautiful shots there!! And the first time I went into the deep roads? Almost shat.

My first dragon encounter..just randomly mopping up a map & BAM epic. The dragons fly around and smash boulders & the environment in general- shoot fireballs at you and such. The actual battle is very reminiscent of an MMO boss battle..& It's awesome!

Crafting! I wish the normal schematics were all in shops and rares were drops.. but besides that.. LOVE THE DEATH out of the crafting!! You get schematics for an item and then get to pick the materials which in-turn decide the color scheme, there are several varieties of metals per tier so you do not have to go with a weird color just because it is better- you get to pick what suits you:) that with the idea of weaponarmor upgrades customizing the looks of the item, it really works out beautifully!! I cannot praise the crafting system enough for it's creativity & loveliness :D.. I'll admit it is a bit "barebones" or "rigid" overall but somehow it is freakin' perfect.

But wait..there's more.. you get a stronghold that you can (kind of) customize, pick the bannerswindows THRONE.. that's right, the throne..which you sit upon and judge people (Fable 3 style) COULD THIS **** GET ANY MORE EPIC? Yes. It does-

There are mounts, Horses, these weird elk type things, some weird demon horse things & "exotic" mounts.. I have so far only used the Horses, but they are beautiful and feel very real & add nothing but immersion and accessibility. & the fact that there is such a wide variety of horses- it is all just wonderful.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR AN EXPANSION DLC! WHY CAN'T I UPGRADE TO DIGITAL DELUXE FROM RETAIL? LET ME THROW MY MONEY AT YOU!!!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Considering the huge number of kids or CS fans complaining here, I rated the game as a 10, whereas it's still a 9.
The bads: It still has a few bugs, most of them don't really affect your overall game or story, yet it's frustrating not being able to loot some items because they drop under the ground or are covered with crap. NPCs sometimes fall through the ground also, they resurface and you don't encounter any real problem with the important ones, though once, my archer companion fell through and failed to support me in an encounter.
Crafting system has no real sorting mechanism other than armor/weapon type.
Interface doesn't work properly, scrolling down and checking your items causes the game to linger on the previously clicked item instead of the one you're hovering.
Menu is annoying as **** also, you have to actually click back to select a different category and you need to close it completely to open the character menu and check your stats.
Horses can't run properly or even move on some terrain. You need to manually jump to tell him "Hey stupid, there is a small stone/step there".
Gathering herbs is not that rewarding. I gathered so many rare herbs and yet you mostly just need a few to upgrade your potions, after that you just keep them around.
Inquisition points are required to upgrade your inventory space and there is no container to keep your rare or interesting items.
Deluxe edition is not worth the extra money.
You can only have 8 skills on your quickbar, as a mage, this is unacceptable.

Ok. Those were a lot of bads right?
Still I give the game an above 9 grade, because it's AMAZING. The different zones, are huge and you can actually explore almost the same you can in Skyrim. Combat is alert, though at times confusing, enemies can overwhelm you easily if you are not careful.
There are 10 DRAGONS, yes. Not 1, not 3, but TEN.
The story is incredible, the level of immersion and the background + conversations with everyone and especially your companions, are interesting and long.
There are a lot of codex items, a lot of lore and a ton of craftable items.
Rare and unique items you are actually enthusiastic to get. A strategic table where you can send your people to do 3 missions at a time, gathering items, gold or doing quests.
You have a lot of customability when creating your character, I was a bit annoyed at first since you had like only 4 different trees, yet your companions get an extra one through the story and you can get like 3 more.
Though you lack the complex and somewhat tiresome tactics and behavior from the previous titles, they somehow do much more, without you having to say it. You could just uncheck which skills you want them to save for when you really need it and cast them yourself.
Free multiplayer. It's not amazing, but it's interesting to play as a team of 4 as you would in the normal game, yet the companions being real people, more cunning and interesting than normal AI.
I haven't really finished the game, yet I have already played over 60 hours and am probably 1/3 of the game. I like to explore and do everything. This game is amazing and deserves it's critic score. After they fix their bugs this game should be a solid 10.

I haven't completed it but the way inquisition introduce you the world is quite straightforward. Although i liked this approach. You will be in control of your character just 5 to 10 mins after finishing character cuatomization and just 1 to 2 min later you will be fighting demons.

Cons: not many... still a couple of minor glitches in the user interface. On my system (a notebook) to keep it reliable I must run in low graphics mode or sometimes the dialog wheel doesn't show, it won't run in full screen mode reliably but windowed is just fine, sometimes slow to get going when changing locations on the map.

The score is one of the best of any game I've played.

The open world is gorgeous, staggeringly beautiful.

The combat is my only negative, even on hard and expert it's kind of meh. The game is also generally too easy.

The story is great - the main villain is a bit meh, which is a shame (he is no kefka), but the side quests have some great minor villains, the character development in your companions, the potential romance, etc. is all done exceedingly well. Is it as well written as a novel? Absolutely not. But it's well written enough - particularly when you consider the sheer amount of content.

Further, the game changes in really meaningful ways depending on your decisions. At 100 hours in my first playthrough and having spent about 30 in my second making different decisions causes entirely different cutscenes to occur. Like radically. The sheer breadth of the decision trees is mind blowing - you can end up with very different outcomes. It's really staggering.

I never, ever replay games. I binge on a game, beat it once, and move on. The only exception was the Dark Souls series. This is the first time since that that I've wanted to replay a game.

I'm at 103 hours of game play so far, and I kinda like it but.. I can't help to compare it to the the first two Dragon Ages. While playing this one I still have not come across any caves or side quest that take me so deep into the abyss that I wish I never stepped foot into it. I had one surprise in this game about 10 to 15 hours into it, but that was it.. (there were many other small encounters that were interesting and could have been built on). Such as the Wolf of the Wilds quest in Dragon Age Origins, or when I almost die in the Fade. I had to re-load a save from 3 hours earlier just to stock up on potions to complete these quest.

I had one surprise in this game about 10 to 15 hours into it, but that was it.. (there were many other small encounters that were interesting and could have been built on). I feel like someone made Bioware dial down the creativity nob and not add a little strange eeriness to the game. Perhaps it's still to come.. But like I said, I'm 103 hours into the game. I think I'm 75 percent complete.

    Story 7, Gameplay 9, Graphics 10.

Eitherway, it's an awesome game.. I'll be buying all the DLC for sure, thanks for so much content to begin with!!!!!

Bottom line, if I don't compare to the first to DA's.. this is a 10.

BTW, I gave Mass Effect 3 a 10 all the way, and loved the original ending

Having played 18 hours of the game so far, and only just leaving the prologue, this is one of the best Bioware RPG's I have played. The side quests are as engaging and immersive as the main story arc, and the gameplay itself is far more polished than either of the two previous entries to the series.
That said, the game is buggy to the point of insanity. I didn't experience a single crash

That said, the game is buggy to the point of insanity. I didn't experience a single crash for the first 12 hours of the game, but upon arriving at Skyhold crashes have become far more common. The only alleviant is to turn down the graphics settings, a shame because this game blows away both previous games, and even some other modern titles in terms of it's looks.

Overall, the game is still getting a 10/10 from me because it fixes the UI/Graphics/Gameplay issues in DA Origins, creates a far nicer environment (Cough cough) and more engaging storyline than II and finally, it is just damn fun to play.

After this I have high hopes for the next Mass Effect game.

Let me start off by saying, I'm a HUGE dragon age fan. I put in 200hrs of gameplay on origins on xbox 360. Over 300hrs of gameplay on origins on the pc ultimate edition. Hundreds of hours on DA2 both console and pc.

Dragon age origins strong points - Character depth, tactics, story telling Dragon Age 2 strong points - Faster paced action which was very appealing (don't deny it)

Dragon Age 2 strong points - Faster paced action which was very appealing (don't deny it)

Now we have Dragon Age inqusition! A mesh of the best things DA:O and DA2 brought to the table AND MORE.

Huge open world with absolutely gorgeous graphics that please your very pupils. Fast paced action from DA2 with the best tactics DA:O had to offer. Amazing voice acting and story telling. Music score is breathtaking! Lore! Lore everywhere! Pieces of parchment, notes, books, signs, scribings! If you love spending time reading through all the lore a game has to offer, you're definitely in for a treat! I've played all of 2014's AAA games and other titles. This is a serious Game of the year contender for me!

I seriously am amazed to see as many negative reviews as there are positives. I spent time going through these and want to absolutely squash myths and bulls**t info people are posting.

1- Controlls on pc aren't terrible! They're just as they were on DA:O and DA2. This game has added features! Perhaps those giving negative reviews due to the controls just have severe dyslexia and can't learn new commands! This is the most annoying negative view point I've seen. I've now played with both board/mouse and xbone gamepad. Both are amazing. My preference is the XBONE controller. Absolutely hit the nail on the head here. By far the SMOOTHEST controls to date on an RPG. Top notch quality! The mouse/board is also great, I just enjoy the faster paced action more with a gamepad but can comfortable give both a 10/10

2- Stuttering. Yes the game stuttered for me in cut scenes and every now and then during gameplay. I'm running sli GTX 970's with other top end gear and playing on max settings. Rather then throwing a tantrum like most (if not all) negative reviewers have...I looked at my experiences with other games. TURN OFF ORIGIN IN GAME. Also, google the 30fps cutscene fix and apply that! No more stutters. Buttery smooth on max settings. Brilliant! If you still don't have smoothness, turn your settings down or upgrade your hardware if you can't live without playing on max settings. It's end of 2014! sorry...your GTX 780 isn't going to cut it ladies and gents.

3-Voice acting, score and story telling. I read a review which absolutely tore bits in the voice acting, music score and story telling. Son...you are a fool. The voice acting is top notch, the music in game is absolute brilliance and the story is just as compelling as DA:O!

4- Not open world? Uhmm....no words needed. Rest assured, this is open world gameplay

5- No tactics? What...no tactics? Tactics everywhere! Perhaps you should turn up your difficulty from easy and play with the big boys! I see people crying saying they ruined DAO's tactical brilliance. INCORRECT! They've taken it and made it better! How can you diss this flawless tactical screen? Seriously?!?! Pure brilliance! And there still is some level of auto tactics you can set for your companions. Is it as in depth as DAO? No. Why? well simple! YOU HAVE THE GODAMN TACTICAL SCREEN! THAT’S WHAT IT IS THERE FOR. SAME THING AS AUTO TACTICS IN DAO BUT NOW YOU GET TO SEE IT IN THE FLESH, MODIFY IT FOR EVERY SCENARIO AND WATCH IT PLAY OUT IN REAL TIME OR SLOW MO! Open your eyes people!

6- UI and menus. What’s wrong with them? They are crisp, clear easy to use and a mixture of both DAO and DA2 with their own personal added recipe to make this 2014 AAA highly anticipated game achieve greater heights then their predecessors.

This game is a solid 10/10. Does it have bugs? Yes it does. Do I care? No. It’s in it’s first week of release and there are no game breaking bugs for the majority of people. Corrupt files and gender changes? These sorts of bugs are existent in many games on release! They don’t affect everyone! By the way, how can you rip a company for releasing a game as massive as Dragon Age inquisition with some bugs? Yes….there will be bugs! Why wouldn’t there be? They’ve only just released a next gen game 100x larger and more complex then Dragon age origins and in the same time frame! They’re still ONLY HUMAN. The human race has not evolved.. and I’m sure IQ levels were the same as they were back in 2009 when DA:O was released!

Now, commence the “how much has Bioware paid him” rant.

This game is a must have for 2014. Make sure your hardware can handle it and happy playing!

The good: The graphics are stunning, my rig is running on a 680 and the game looks good while running very smoothly even in intense combat. The combat is satisfying; going into the game I was concerned when I heard that there was only going to be a very select few healing abilities and limited healing potions, but Bioware did a good job of balancing the combat so that you shouldn't feel limited by them even on hard mode as long as you use your head. In fact because the game is no longer balanced around healing mages I feel like I have more options for selecting my party's setup. The new guard mechanic makes playing as a sword and shield warrior much more enjoyable and planning cross class combos is much more satisfying now. Overall I have no complaints about the mouse keyboard controls, and I usually play on a console (though the tactical camera definetly needs some work). The various zones are varied and vast, completionists will be able to easily spend over 6 hours in the starting area alone doing all the side quests and finding all the secrets, while you'll level up fast enough that people who want to go faster won't feel like the game is forcing them to grind for Xp. The companions are all varied and have interesting personalities, and since you don't have an approval bar you feel less pressure to choose the dialogue choices that you think they'll agree with. I haven't gotten far enough into the story to tell you too much about it, but the first part (getting to your groups main base) was very epic.

The downs: While having a wide variety of stuff to do in the areas is better than not having enough, it does mean you'll end up pretty distracted from the game's main plot and feel detached from it. The tactical camera has a lot of flaws: it is far too zoomed in and has no way of adjusting how far it zooms out, and don't even bother trying to use it if you're in a cave or a place with a low roof. Mounts aren't really that useful and since there's no party banter while you're using one it takes a lot out of the game (though the lack of fall damage and Skyrimesque horse physics is super useful at times).

This next point is a big one, but you'll either love it or hate it. You can only have 8 abilites accesible at any given time (unlike in the first two where you could pull up a radial menu that had the rest of them that weren't hot-keyed). On one hand it ensures that at higher levels you can't have grossly overpowered characters that can do anything and don't need to rely on teamwork. On the other hand you may find it as an excessive restriction that limits your play style.

All in all, I love the game. I've already plugged in 15 hours and don't even feel close to being done with it, if you like the genre I would highly recommend it.

The game itself is just gorgeous and expansive. I feel as if it is somewhat of a 3rd person Skyrim.
There is tons to do and the story is spread out across this massive place that is just filled with life and atmosphere.
I for one am very pleased they ditched all the clunky stuff from the previous titles. I actually feel like I am playing the characters and I am not caged into the small KOTOR 1-2 sized worlds. I do think the party options for ai should be expanded on a little but so far the game has been bug free for me.

The controls are standard fare for most ARPG/Shooter/mmo fans with a few extra keys.
The characters are awesome and I love the cassandra chick you meet, she is voiced very well IMO.
Character customization is better than it has ever been for any DA game, I felt there were a lot of options and you could make an attractive character unlike the others. I also like that this time our pc has a voice and is not the Silent Bob in the room. Worth a go for any lover of open world games especially in the RPG genre.

Why, you ask? I'm love with old school RPG's. I loved DA:O a lot, and played Dragon Age II just for the story, only once. Loved Mass Effect, liked Mass Effect 2 and hate ME3 ending, and ME3 in general. DAII was awfull. DA:I it's not. After playing it, I see the interviews and understand when they say "that's the Dragon Age we always wanted to make". It's the improved version of Origins.

The Graphics are not only amazing. Are breathtaking. And not only the views. The details of characters, their faces, animations... Every aspect of the visuals it's perfectly done.

The combat... Is perfect. I can't think how can be improved in anyway. The tactical camera is perfect, the AI response is nice, the difficulty, correct.

The story is a bit boring at the very beggining, but after a couple of missions, it turns in one of the best so far, with a couple of moments that will make you cry, of jump out of your sit to yell **** YES!!!

The characters are all well written. The way they react on your decisions, the way they even argue with you at some points, the way they even look you bad or with sad eyes when you say something they don't want to ear... Again, it's amazing.

And the crafting... I don't understand how the people behind the horrible DAII crafting and DA:O not-so-horrible-but-boring-and-unnecesary crafting system can create on Inquisition that wonder, that diamond. The crafting system is perfect, is like a gem, perfectly carved. It can be the best crafting I ever seen.

The Multiplayer is correct, and very interesting. It have a lot of potential. Same crafting system, same combat and same leveling system, everything simplified and harder to achieve. It's a bit repetitive, like ME3 multiplayer, but it's fun enough, and with a couple of free DLC to expand it and some special events, like Bioware did in ME3 multiplayer, it will improve a lot.

So, don't doubt it, Dragon Age: Inquisition is a masterpiece. And it comes from me. I cannot forgive Bioware for what they did in ME3, or DAII. I've lost my faith in them since they joined EA, but Inquisition is really the best first step they can get in the long way to redemption with their fan base.

And all the 0 and low scores out there... I don't know what they talking about. So far, I have not bugs, the game runs fine, and without problems. Maybe they have come here to talk about other games, because I read a lot of bad critics down here, and I think they are not talking of the same game.

I see complaints about combat, graphics, bad story and writing??? What freakin game are they playing? I haven't felt sucked into a story and world to the point of talking to every damn peasant, exploring every corners of the maps, since, bah, I don't know. Fallout? Combat stirkes a pretty dazzling balance between action and tactical and cherry on top, you can hop from one extreme to the other at will at the press of a key depending on the situation.
The story, while nothing groundbreaking, is engrossing by the span of its details delivered in a strikingly concise manner most of the time, keeping the pace hardy.
I'm nearing 20 hours and barely done with the early zones, compelled to explore them completely, do every quest, which is usually not my type of behavior at all. I've never seen me this obsessive compulsive. The fault being in what I can only guess so far is a vast taperstry of a story that unveils slowly but surely with every little activity. Every action seems to have weight and I can't wait to see the implication of my early choices. And at the speed I'm going, it's gonna take way more than 100 hours to get to the conclusion.
Don't listen to the overly critical voices out here. I'm not calling the game flawless and the 10 is more a reaction to the trollesque rants that make no sense. The game would probably be a 9 for me, in truth. The ride is great but the seatbelt is itchy. So I can understand people who'd not get into it, not so much one who'd rate it 0 and call it a pile of **** This isn't an indie, crafted for the hardcore RPG fan, for sure. So far I have only played the game for about 13 hours but from what I have experienced I would say the game is a Must Buy for those that love rpgs. On my gaming laptop (780m graphics card) I am able to play on Ultra settings and it plays flawlessly after updating my nvidia drivers to the 344.75 release.

My suggestion is to ignore all the reviews here and go watch a bunch of lets play videos on youtube and make a decision for yourself if this is a game you want to invest your time and money.

The User reviews have gone into the toilet here and you would be better off finding useful information about the game somewhere else. Seriously, what game really deserves to get a Zero for a score?!? Let me answer that ------>hatoful boyfriend and other games of that ilk, imagine if bioware designed this game in that format, all the negative reviews here would be 10/10s.

AMAZING title! Epic in scope with characters and story. The people complaining are butthurt PC fanboys that want another rehashed Origins. If you love RPG games, buy this.

The masters over at Bioware have done it again. This epic journey into the world of Thedas will steal more than 100 hours of your time, hours so full of superb gaming that you'll never forget them.

Despite numerous shortcomings, the new BioWare project is undoubtedly worth your attention. One of the best RPGs of 2014.
