So booooring. Just find every bit of this and some of that and do it 1000000 times more, but on different map, that should be semi-open, but it's just another labirynth to make you spend more time in game and get more frustrated.

It's a good RPG and a solid game, but hasn't enough charisma to hook the player. It lacks deeper mechanics and a better history.
On the other hand is a beautiful game, with extensive landscapes, interesting characters, interesting "castle" ownership and funny combats.

DA:I is an interesting case, it is an RPG and they put in a lot of effort to try to establish the world and characters but at the same time, most characters are boring. The only memorable ones are Cole and Cullen, the latter from the first few games and maybe Dorian. The rest are just poorly created, the VA saves them a little bit but there's only so much you can do. The rest are just poorly created, the VA saves them a little bit but there's only so much you can do. I played a male Inquisitor and the females characters in the game are some of the most boring and poorly written stuff in the last decade. It's an insufferable lesbian, a token black character and an uglified 'butch' female compared to DA:2. Awful, I feel like the writers for the game are either gay men or far-left women, there is no chance there were straight staff in the writing room. They brought back Leliana and Morrigan which are from the first game and written infinitely better than the rest so there is that at least.

The world is an MMO, great main questline plus some decent side companion quests but outside of those, it's usually collect 10 herbs and find my mirror type of garbage. One massive positive are the locations and also the animations, those were 10/10, way ahead of most other games for its time. This game would become the Harbinger of woke in gaming as it has many of the SJW points that were so popular in 2010-2015 before it morphed into the current woke when Americans elected Trump and 'creatives' lost their mind. Considering the company (Bioware) has been going down since ME3, I fully expect them to bomb and lead to layoffs when going broke with DA:4 but we'll see. This is not a bad game but only do the main questline and the side characters and slay some dragons, the rest is MMO garbage and there is some woke, though not obnoxiously much, if you also like/hate that.

A good game, nice characters and races... but I will not forgive the fact that they eliminated the possibility of us romancing Varric over an extremely boring, lame and idiotic Bianca! It was better that they never revealed Bianca to us.

DA: Inquisition falls short of expectations due to its lackluster plot, shallow gameplay and uninspired open world filled with meaningless content. Consider revisiting DA: Origins instead – 3/10.

    - enemy AI is terrible: enemies on a hill can't find a path to attack you below.
    - quests: fetch x amount of y and bring to z. Almost exclusively!

Then there's the rest of the game:
    - butt-ugly character models that look like they were from 2002.
    - dumbed-down RPG elements (this is more an action-adventure than an RPG, let's be honest here!).
    - loses the dark & gritty setting of Dragon Age 1 for more of a pop artish style. Yuck!
    - controls are horrendous. Don't have a controller? Better not try playing it then! Mouse & Keyboard controls are almost unplayable.
    - went woke (comments about transgenderism in a time before transgenderism even existed?!)

Dragon Age Inquisition manages to be even worse than Dragon Age 2: The Great Recycle. I'd rather play that one again than this piece of garbage. There is nothing redeeming about Inquisition!

This isnt exactly a bad game, but it is bland. Every single part of this game is mediocre. I'd give it a 5 but considering its a downgrade from origins, and even a downgrade from 2 in some ways, it deserves a 4. In terms of game design it is miles behind other RPG games in a quasi-open world setting.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third installment in the classic fantasy RPG series Dragon Age. Released in late 2014 this game was supposed to be the big rival for the upcoming Witcher 3. In fact, from the very beginning this series was competing with the Witcher series for the unofficial crown of current RPG games. But unlike the Witcher series, which started very well and then only grewDragon Age: Inquisition is the third installment in the classic fantasy RPG series Dragon Age. Released in late 2014 this game was supposed to be the big rival for the upcoming Witcher 3. In fact, from the very beginning this series was competing with the Witcher series for the unofficial crown of current RPG games. But unlike the Witcher series, which started very well and then only grew to excellence, Dragon Age started superbly and then declined. This decline definitely shows in the Dragon Age 2, which so many people hate, but for me the game that completely broke this series was Dragon Age: Inquisition. It started with big promises of an open world game, which DA:I most certainly is not. The open world aspects are pointless, the maps are either plain empty or filled with boring and useless collectibles. But I will try to first focus on the positive aspects of this game and there are some. The graphics looks very nice, even today, eight years later and it suits the world of Dragon Age well. I like the war table missions, they give you a sense of command, but they have very little actual impact of anything, which is a pity, but more about that later. The crafting system, while it has many flaws and can be pretty confusing to first time players, is still a nice addition to this world. And sadly that is about it. Now I must bring up the negatives, of which there are many. First of all the two major ones, that completely ruin the Dragon Age experience for me. First one is the lack of choices. In DA:I, you play as the Inquisitor, arguably one the most powerful men in the whole Thedas and yet your choices are cosmetic at best, usually there are not any choices to be made at all. What a stark difference with the two previous installments, where your actions had a huge consequences on the world. This is absolutely unforgiveable to me and I cannot think of a reason, why this vital part of the Dragon Age experience was not included in DA:I. The second big problem for me were the companions. In Dragon Age I always reveled in building strong and passionate relationships and rivalries with your companions. In DA:I, the companions are mostly badly written stereotypes of certain Thedas races. It is really disheartening to see yet another great aspect of the DA world being destroyed and spat upon by the developers. Sera of course springs to mind, this incoherent elven lesbian murdering proletary. Or Cole, his story is actually an interesting idea for a character, but somehow he winds up as a self hating crybaby, who for some reason (same as Sera) cannot form a coherent sentence. The best characters in my mind, Varric, Leliana, Cassandra were mostly just taken from previous Dragon Age games. Generally I have a strong feeling that SJW elements were forcibly and unnaturally injected into this game and into many characters. It frankly disgust me. Like the strong woman archetype, which is so prevalent that almost all the important NPC in charge are women, while men generally play menial roles and of course ugly, ugly, racist enemies. Ridiculous! But there is so much more that is wrong in this game. The combat is even further simplified from the DA2 which together with the botched tactical camera and of course the never fixed mid combat freeze bug makes the combat in this game awkward and clumsy. What a decline from the times of DAO, where the combat was just a pure tactical heaven. Another big change is the omission of healing spells, that of course changes the tactics dramatically. The one good thing that could have come from this change would be more freedom in party composition, but no, you still have to have a mage, because of the new barrier spell. Actually if you have two mages in your party, every fight is a faceroll. I do not think this is balanced at all. The changes to the approval changes are also for the worse, it is really unpredictable and it happened to me often that I had no idea how a companion would react at all. Horse riding is badly animated and awkward and seems unnecessary. Also the main story is full of cliches, the main antagonist is a racist wanna be god, who wants to destroy the world, what a nice black and white painting the developers have painted for us. The introduction of Skyhold, which happens just out of the blue, here is a huge castle for you. There is plenty of weird cliche time travelling magic, that does not make any sense. And I could go on. But I believe this is enough to illustrate my point. The game is also riddled with microtransactions (loot boxes, horse armor DLCs, etc.) and, as mentioned above, with a lot of SJW nonsense.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is not a completely bad, I was able to enjoy bits and pieces of it, but on the whole it was a big disappointment for me. Final Verdict: 40%

I played the game in 2020, during quarantine and finished it twice. Apart from a few bad side quests, i believe the game holds very well. All RPG elements are here, with character customization specifically providing some very good ideas i still haven't seen in other games.
The Dlc were very good, even though i felt annoyed to say the least by the fact that the real ending of the game is in dlc and not in the main game.
It is a shame knowing what the developers were going for, but being forced to tone it down a notch or two because of EA.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played through this game again, and i feel i have to lower my score from 6 to 4. Its worse than i remembered and i have it fresh in mind now.

The main game is really short. I remember Modern Warfare got some criticism for being short, but this felt even shorter. And in the end, closing the rifts didn’t even really matter. The main quests are the best and most rewarding, followed by companion quests. But in order to complete some of these you have to finish a bunch of other side quests. Like Unfinished Business. Get to the toxic fog, back to war table, take over griffins keep, get the darkspawn quest, back to war table to clear up more fog, go through the darkspawn lair or whatever, just to kill that one guy? Most side quests are too long and a lot feels the same. And most are really dull. It’s a big world, but its an empty world and it just feels like an obstacle between me and the game/quests. It’s not really interesting to explore and there’s not really that much to explore. The game is repetitive and tedious. I also feel like the game is pushing towards siding with the templars. I feel forced by my companions. I would really like this to be more balanced. The presentation of quests is also pretty bland. I mean like the way NPCs give them to you. And the grind you have to do progress to the game. “Look for other opportunities to expand the inquisitions influence while you’re there”. Sure, I’ll help this farmer retrieve his goat so I get more political influence. Really? Another thing, why do I, the inquisitor, have to go around and collect stones and flowers for other people? This is stupid and feels kinda world breaking for me. The world feels empty. Not really interesting to explore, few NPCs to talk to, no cities to visit, ruins and dungeons to explore. Some maps are very beautiful to look at. But they feel empty. And the maps themselves are really bad. A lot of the time it’s like “oh, there is a giant cliff here, and I need to get on top of it”. Then you have to run for five minutes along the cliff to try and get on top of it, only to realize you should’ve gone the other way. The combat system is bad, boring and lackluster. The action feels messy and shallow and the tacticical system feels clumsy and bad. It’s like the worst from both worlds. The AI is bad. Boss fights way to long, and really boring. Origins did this so much better. Enemy variety is non-existent. Personally, i liked Origins fighting a lot. I know a lot of people don’t and that a lot of people liked DA2s fighting better. But no matter which one you like, they are both superior to DAI. I don’t really like the war table either, but I don’t really know why. Maybe it feels like something cheap added to make the game seem bigger or something. Give you more to do, idk. Crafting requires a tonne of resources, and resource gathering is a tedious and boring chore. The mounts are a joke. No party banter and you can’t interact with anything. Approval. One of the creators said that the Origins system felt off since it was measured in numbers and that’s not how it works in real life. And like yeah, it’s a video game. But that was the reason they removed that from the game. But still, court approval in Wicked Eyes is measured in numbers. Your Influence and your level is in numbers. Really? I think it’s a downgrade and the excuse feels like a cop out to make it easier for themselves. Companions. This bioware game has my least favourite companions. They feel shallow and clichèd, everything feels one sided. And no, I’m not talking about their personalities and views etc, I’m talking about substance and writing. They were pretty shallow in DA2 too, but that’s a way older game made in a very short time, thanks to EA. In The Witcher 3, characters feel like real people. And that game came out a year after. Here they feel like simple sitcom characters. Canned laughter and you have a Chuck Lorre show. I see a lot of people complaining about the political agenda/views bioware displays through the characters. I think that’s a nice thing, but I agree that it feels a bit shoved down your throat at times. But maybe it wouldn’t feel that way if the companions weren’t cheap shakespearian cardboard characters. The Trespasser DLC is okay storywise, but the gameplay, god damn. Run back and fourth. Such a small, compressed addition to the story and they make even that feel tedious and slow. There’sone quest in this DLC and I still feel like I’m grinding. But all this aside, my singular biggest problem with the game is that it just does not feel like Dragon Age all. The whole aesthetic. Origins and DA2 feels like Dragon Age games, this feels like a generic RPG. I guess that’s the biggest problem for me. If it felt and looked more Dragon Age I might have ignored a lot more of these points and also wouldn’t be as annoyed by stuff. But it just kept snowballing as I went.

But as soon as you head to the hinterlands it turns to the worse, most bland, dull single-player MMORPG I have ever played. There's nothing like Baldurs gate, KOTR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, or Dragon Age 1&2 in here. It's a soulless game with no direction, even Andromeda was better. It's the only Bioware game I couldn't play more than a few hours in, (Andromeda is the only other one that I've never finished) Because of the bland, super boring MMORPG design like in a single-player game, it's, without doubt, one of the worst RPGS I've ever tried to play. A complete waste of time, skip it, even if you get it for free.

I tried to ignore the fetch quests, I tried to salvage what interesting story bits were there. But they are everywhere, there's nowhere to run. You have to power through so much junk and filler to get to the good bits, it just not worth it, it's not an RPG, it's a time waster. Cerebral torture.

The only other RPG that is this bad is Kingdom of Amalur, dragon age inquisition is even worse. 0/10

I would never play this game again the core systems are busted and unbalanced but its worth one playthrough id say.

A second patch was issued to fix the UI and PC controls but it does not correct anything. To achieve the disaster it seems very difficult if not impossible to mod it so don't expect expansions from fans as you obtained with the BG series (this limitation is probably a feature : EA guys think it will boost the sales of their expensive crap DLC)

It throws almost everything out from the first game while adding uninteresting, unoriginal systems. Making the end result feel more like an mmorpg with quests that require grinding, meaningless fights and boring character interactions. They obviously went for quantity over quality. It's no mistake that there are mounts in the game because it's a large and empty world. Which is although beautiful completely lacks the dark fantasy feel of Origins, which is one of the biggest mistakes of this game, since this was the most notable aspect of the first game which made it stand out from the rest. The UI also got downgraded when it comes to design. The menus and interfaces of Inquisition are soulless, black colored geometric shapes. They would stand their ground in any type of game because they remind the player of nothing, they are completely bland. At least they are a pain to navigate thanks to uninformative item descriptions, confusing item names and a horrible crafting system. Items also got downgraded in this game with armor now divided into an armor and a helmet slot. This makes absolutely zero sense greatly degrading the rpg experience. I guess this would give developers more time to create useless collectible grinds that add nothing to the experience. Item description are also shorter with trash items truly becoming uninteresting trash in this game.

Although I think almost everything Inquisition done had made it an inferior, generic and uninteresting grind when compared to Origins, there are some things that are a genuine improvement. Combat is pretty good, making meaningless fights at least bearable. Abilities look really good and the addition of the Qunari as a playable race is also welcomed. But that's about it, this game positions itself as far away from what Dragon Age stood for as possible in order to create a bland experience of a world that has little from the dark and gritty mood of the first game. Let's hope that the next game in the series will not sacrifice so much for an open world and rather create a more linear game with better content and design.

While it starts good, it seems varied and with a lot of high quality features, I cannot help but feel bored after some time. There is simply no motivation to go up to the end with enthusiasm, no mystery, not enugh of specific ambance making it a special experience.

DAI will not remain in the history of glorious creations, in no way it is comparable to the Witcher 3 or Dragon Age : Origins, still it is better than Dragon Age 2 for sure.

The story is kind of generic, little broken, but still could be followed, like an average TV series; there are some party members that I have found interesting (Solus, Cole), amusing (Varric, Dorian) or bizarre (Sera) ... and even though they are not on the level of characters from Mass Effect series or other CRPG's mentionned before, still they manage to get the job done on the limited level. During Covid-19 confinement that game managed to keep some pace of adventure, even with all its fedexes ... however with erosion of time the boredom outweights the limited storyline/background. Romances were kind of disappointingly boring, as was the supposed villain; too bad that the main one is hidden behind a DLC paywall. It can be noted that player has some impact on the gameworld, both to modify the ending and during gamplay (the main hub area of the player changes as she/he advances, side areas are also visibly impacted : it is good; on the other hand the stakes are not motivating so that in the end the changes seem meaningless. That brings us to the player character, which somehow has quite low charisma for a role that she/he is supposed to play; even Mass Effect Andromeda protagonist left me with more memories than generic paper-cut protagonist of DAI. In the end I simple did not care at all. In time the interest of player is just extinguished, despite of big beautiful gameworld and huge quantity of (mostly meaningless) dialogues done with good voice acting.

The areas are geographically varied and interesting to see, almost like in the Skyrim. Main issue here is maybe that they are kind of generic: we have seen that before in so many other games and the lore/sidequests hardly give the shiver to discover something particularly exciting and areas do not have that much of ambiance to keep interest beyond first several hours (compare that even to the ambiance of procedurally generated Diablo 2 !). I agree with argment concerning too big number of generic "fedex" and "collections" quests: in Witcher 3 at least it had some sens and applicability for Gwent cards and crafting schemas; here it is mostly collecting random stuff, which mostly gives some quantitative "powers" to advance the game or occasionally more or less redundant rare items. The delivery of lore in DAI was simply not interesting, despite apparent formal high quality content.

I see the big problem with limited gameplay options: the tactical camera mode is useless and broken, in the end of the day we just use autoattack all the time and not much of tactics can be applied (it is surely not as rich as DA:O or older Baldur's Gate games series). The choice of skills to use is very limited by game's own system, that boils down to the Action "RPG" type.

I liked the OST, loved Lace Harding voice acting (mostly because it is the same voice actress as Liara T'Soni), and found generally the game to be well done on technical level.

It remains a solid 6/10, diminished back to 5 because of hiding important main story stuff behind a DLC (EA style players trolling) ... not a legendary stuff, but not a totally bad stuff either.

    Pro:

You don't have to spend money on Dragon Age 4, which is a direct continuation of this clusterfack.

    neutral:

Upgraded graphics compared to the two first games.

    Decent music

    con:

Short main story that is artificially extended through several different grinds like a MMORPG. (power points, equipment, schemata / plans (alchemy, equipment), crafting etc.)

Sterile and mind-numbing writing / design on the majority of all quests (fetch quests, kill this, that and this again).

Forced and time gated wartable missions which you need to complete to continue (unlock main missions and areas), a huge time waste with no direct quick travel into the overview

Badly written companions with even worse incentives (they completely did retcon Varrics personality)

Boring and dead open world areas which are too huge (+ slow moving mounts)

Ridiculous "real" villain revelation at the end.

Completely facked up skill and fighting system, badly done cooldowns, a limit of eight useable abilities (DA Origins had at least 80 for each class), the skill trees are an accumulation of a huge amount of passive skills, auto hit simulator, a trainwreck of a tactical view with limited zoom (no real overview)

Even worse attribute system, the best performance for all classes are crit + crit damage / 100% crit builds, because the main attribute of all three classes increase the damage by only 0.5% each point.

Broken auxiliary systems like barrier and block.

The worst bugfixing moral of any game I know, instead of fixing a issue they removed it out of the game (skillpoint amulet exploit etc.)

Atrocious controls for the PC port

Completely dumbed down AI with no micro management

A huge amount of bugs they will never fix

    Woke SJW Agenda included

In short: the greed of EA and their talentless hacks did also destroy this franchise.

Even non-open world games such as BOUND BY FLAME had that! You'll be encountering generic enemies - randomly spawning in templars and mages that fight each other and all look alike or wildlife and sometimes demonspawn. The AI seems to have problems with elevations as I noticed enemies often times not responding to you if you are higher or lower than them, not always, but frequently.
The story is as generic as it gets and the pacing really poor: you go from prime suspect of murdering a holy woman to savior of the world in 20 minutes. The neverending templars vs. mages story is really getting boring as well, oh yes and of course racism is an issue here as well, because we cannot have a game that does not take a political stance on racism. YAWN! Add totally uninteresting NPCs with no character, tedious collect/fetch/craft & escort quests and DRAGON AGE INQUISITION quickly becomes a chore rather than an adventure. It was lucky to have come out before THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT, it would have been even more embarrassing if it had come out after.
The PC version feels like a very lazy port of the console versions: the HUD is way too large with no scaling option and looks ugly and the controls are atrocious, from picking up items (right-click in a small circle while standing within a pixel range of the item brings up a menu of items to collect), to maneuvering the inventory which is unintuitive. Generally it feels more like an MMO than a single player RPG.
Also it seems Bioware was more interested in squeezing as many SJW elements into the game rather than bringing an immersive and believable fantasy world to life, with cringe-worthy "being transgender is OK!" dialogues that really do not fit into the story.
I've played some really bad RPGs and DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION is the worst of them all.

Well, it's garbage. It's an open world single player MMO full of fetch this and that side questing that add zero to the story. Most areas are optional and have no effect on your progression other than items.
You have to press a button to see collectible items on the world all the time, it's an annoying scan and most of the collectible items you won't end up using. Once you figure out how the crafting works, you'll just go for the higher tier ones. Also, crafting breaks the game, you can get overpowered really quick.

The gameplay is atrocious without mods. There's no tactical aspect to it, just run around, hack/slash/dodge use skills and wait for the cooldown to use them again. Bioware's idea of difficulty is just turning enemies into HP Sponges to make battles take forever at times. You're never in any real danger other than from bad camera, bad movement and useless tactical option. In an open world area enemies will plenty of times just spawn out of no where continuously or de-spawn just as you reach them.
The areas are just bland "oh here's a desert, here's a jungle, here's a forest, here are the plains" type of business.

The main story is weak from the start. You're the chosen one just because and your enemy is a recycled generic silly goose from DA2 DLC who disappears through most of the game and just shows up to be beat up. Also his only motivation is evil for evil's sake, which is boring. There's zero connection between what you do in the world and the way the story progresses in terms of enemy strength and adding or reducing challenges in the main missions.

Character creation is simply cosmetic and barely affects your role-playing. Either human or qunari you're just the same boring inquisitor and your background barely matters other than a couple lines of dialogue here and there. The way you interact with npcs and your companions barely matters and the hidden approval system is just confusing. There's almost no differentiation in the way you'll build your character should you decide to play multiple times, since there are very few useful skills in each tree, you'll end up picking them and forget the useless ones otherwise you're just setting yourself up for long repetitive battles due to the HP sponge nature of enemies.

There's this thing called the war table that forces you to return to it plenty of times throughout the game to select missions that take real time to complete. It's like the game saying "Ok, you've played enough, go do something else for 30 minutes to 24 hours before you can advance this... fortunately, there are mods.

The only decent thing is the scope of the dragon fights and the way they're massive. But even then, most are basically the same fight, just slight different weaknesses and powers they'll throw at you.

This was a waste of time and it destroyed not only the world building done by DA:O and to a much lesser extent DA:2 but it showed clearly that Bioware is on the way out in terms of quality gameplay and storytelling. I won't even get into the whole forced "wokeness" inserted into this.

I didn't comment on graphics because I don't care for them. Graphics are supposed to be secondary to the story and gameplay, not something you advertise your game on, unless of course you're making a dumb game and you use shiny gimmicks to distract dummies who'll give this a 10. Also, this game is clear proof that so called professional reviewers don't really play the games and are corrupted by perks the companies give them in exchange for a good rating. Always go by the user score, after all they actually play the games and after some time has passed the consensus is always superior to a biased reviewer who drinks the company's kool aid.

Dragon Age: Origins was a masterpiece. Dragon Age II was different than Origins and it received a very poor reception because people wanted and expected Origins 2, but I still think it's a good game who deserves a chance. So, how about Dragon Age: Inquisition?

The good news is that is that DA:I is a very good and fun game. The bad news is that it has ONE major flaw. It's a pretty big flaw, unfortunately, but I'll talk about that later. First, the good things. DA:I addresses the complaints DA:2 received about the geographical diversity. The maps are very varied in DA:I. Desert, grass fields, snow, storm islands, jungles, there's everything. The areas are huge and well-designed, it's obvious they put a lot of effort into them.

The main story is great and has several twists. Plenty satisfying choices to make. No spoilers in this review, but there are some ways DA:I connects with the other two games and I absolutely loved that. It truly feels like a shared universe. There are also several moments in the story when you sit on a throne and you can cast a judgment and decide the fate of characters. A minor thing, but it adds flavor. It makes you feel like the leader of the Inquisition.

I also love the new companions, interacting with them, learning more about them and doing their personal quests. I especially liked Cole, who is a unique character. The combat has been upgraded and it's fluid and satisfying. Class specializations actually feel like specializations and they change the feel of the combat. I played as a Knight Enchanter and I loved it, I felt very powerful.

One new feature in DA:I that I didn't expect to like that much is armor customization. More specifically, dyeing your armor and changing the materials it's made from. I had a LOT of fun with that. I really wish more games had that. I also had fun customizing and crafting equipment for my companions. And there is a lot of variety in armors. More specifically, mage armor. I generally play as a mage and there wasn't a SINGLE cool robe in DA:O.. In DA:2 they finalyl added cool robes and in DA:i there are even more robes, and you can customize their appearance!

I also liked customizing the appearance of the fortress. It's highly customizable. I played as an Elven Mage, so I decorated it with Dalish and Circle Tower themes. I also built a Mage tower, a garden and an infirmary. It's minor and mainly visual stuff, but it enriches the experience. It helps with the immersion into the world.

Now let's talk about that one major flaw. Most side content is collect shards and kill enemies... There are only a few interesting side quests. And this is a trend I've sadly noticed in recent games. Those huge maps I was talking about feel kind of empty. The NPCs can feel lifeless and there isn't much interaction with them. It's unfortunate. This is the worst thing about this game. But the other areas are great. I still had a lot of fun playing this. It took me over 200 hours to do pretty much everything. Again, just like in the case of DA:2, I feel like the criticisms are way too harsh.

    Seriously, give Inquisition a chance.

It's a shame what the current Bioware team has made of the great Origins. The main thing is to address the crowd. In Origins you could tell how much love the developers put into the story, the many good dialogues, the great characters, and an ingenious soundtrack. In this unworthy part only the graphics were nice. The rest is just garbage.

Well DA:I is even worse, this is World of Warcraft in Dragon Age. Keep in mind how badly 2010's MMO games are going to age as time goes on. First boss fight, fight a giant ogre by clicking on some energy thingy, let your companions do the rest, no strategy needed. Boom! You win the boss fight and now you're the savior. BUT - now you have to play fetch quest and errand boy. This kind of pacing is a plague among the EAs and Ubisofts, they've totally forgot RPG pacing and the Hero's Journey.

But you see, this game isn't really about you. No. IT'S ABOUT CASSANDRA. See? This is what it's all about. You're just Cassandra's puppet. It's really all about her and Leliana telling all the weak men off and showing them that in modern day, it's the women who make the rules and the men who follow them.

Mechanically, the game is terribly clunky. Gone are the days of the simple yet complex, classic tactical gameplay from the likes of Isometrics like Baldur's Gate and DA:O. Nope. The "Tactical view" makes no sense in this game, moving your character around is a CHORE, the interface is wholley unintuitive. Gameplay is further dumbed down, now you are automatically assigned stat points, leveling up boils down to you picking a few abilities here and there. That's it! Whoop de doo.

The only thing good about this game is the sound design. That is all.

Okay, you were really stoic and programmers were talented, but this is doesn't make the game better. I still don't understand what was the purpose of making it on bad for rpgs engine. MMO experience in a single player game. why?
the combat is a massive step up from the previous 2 games.

An "open world" without a day and night cycle? Really? NPCs just standing at a fixed location or the occasional NPC running back and forth between point A and B? Seriously? The map spawns templars and mages randomly that fight each other, Bioware was so lazy that templars and mages only have one character model each. Apparently the engine also has problems with heights, as enemies that are on a higher or lower elevation than the party don't take note of you.
Finally the RPG elements have been further dumbed down, attributes are now leveled up automatically, you only get to pick the skills out of 3 skill trees for each character class. Each class is limited to a set of weapons: a mage can only use a staff, for a warrior you need to choose at the beginning if you want to use a sword & shield or a two-handed weapon, for a rogue you need to choose at the beginning whether you want to use a bow & arrow or dual wield daggers. Want to play a warrior who dual wields swords? Well, you can't!
Character models are among the ugliest I have ever seen, with female looking butch rather than feminine. The story is so bad, once again focusing on templars vs. mages, the same thing we've been through in DRAGON AGE 2 and to some extent in DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS. Apparently all creative heads have left Bioware leaving only SJWs behind.
Bioware thought it more important to put SJW elements in the game than to create a believable open world: you have a transgender character here, with another character coming out to defend that vigorously. Somehow that was more important than a day & night cycle or NPCs that don't just stand around like trees.
DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION also lacks atmosphere: the world seems to brightly colored, enemies don't look menacing at all and gone is the dark fantasy setting from the original.
DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION also looks and plays like it was designed primarily for consoles and then ported to PC: the HUD is over-sized and butt-ugly, cluttering up most of the screen with huge character portraits, health bars and worst of all, constant mission objectives taking up about one third of the screen. Bioware, have you ever heard of IMMERSION? No, guess not, just gay romances and trannies, eh?
Then the controls are terrible as well: to pick up an item, you have to stand a pixel away from it at the most, wait for a tiny circle to appear, then right-click inside this tiny circle, then select from a loot menu. Click outside the tiny circle and the character will move away. Oh, yeah, walking is bad, too, somehow the characters "overshoot" when you try to walk on a ledge. The camera angles are the worst, you feel unnecessarily distanced from your characters, then the "tactical view" is horrible to control and unhelpful. This game was made for consoles only, mouse & keyboard controls will give you cramps! There is nothing positive about DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION. Absolutely nothing!
DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION does deserve a reward: WORST RPG ever made. And no, that's no exaggeration, it really is that bad! This is definitely the LAST Bioware game I'm ever gonna buy! They announced DRAGON AGE IV - well, they can shove that where the sun don't shine!!!

They got rid of a lot of the nastier options for killing people, even sitting in judgement I couldn't opt to execute a lot of prisoners.
I can STILL ONLY HAVE 4 PARTY MEMBERS WTF?

The game overly pushes social justice gender bending agenda for love interests and characters...and the worst part is it stereotypes them like there is no tomorrow.
The characters themselves are pretty 1 dimensional, consistent....but 100% predictable and unrealistic.
And what kills me the most? They have some butch looking lesbian as a 2nd in command for Iron Bull......She dresses like a man........in a world where females are regularly seen in the battle lines or in armor......It makes NO. SENSE. AT. ALL. Its like wearing a "Stop oppressing lesbians" tshirt in a world where no one looks down on it.

The entire thing felt like one giant bad fanfic. Even the ending boss fight was pathetic. The main story is even full of tropes.

Its honestly like they hired one of those obese animoo bad fanfic writing girls where everything they write is overly sexual, tons of plot holes, and dues ex machinas whenever they are needed.

This game starts intense and continues to surprise in just the right ways,
The ambient music and nature sounds keep this game relaxing and fun, especially the random conversations started by your companions.
I hope long haul games like this continue being made, even with a busy life, id rather look forward to coming home to a game I'm investing into a long story, than to a game I know

I see people say the combat is clunky and so on....its supposed to be that way, this is a strategy game, the stiffness actually adds a keep you on the edge the whole battle effect.
Graphics are wonderful, the choices actually let you voice your distain for the war and fighting, gives you a real in game opinion and persona.....anything this game does wrong, it makes up for it in all the right ways.
I can play this for 8 hours and still want to play even when I need to sleep, that's something I can not say for a lot of titles out now.
I would say after getting to the end the game is still pretty good, just became a bit too political in a direct way....I think the game is still a solid 7 or 8.

Bad bad game, a big open world is meaningless if it is filled with boring grind-y stuff. The story was terrible, with the a bad guy that did not leave a mark at all.

Good game with many content in it. Beautiful and variegated locations but most of the quests which you get by reading books or notes (in most cases) are boring. Very happy with integration of old characters of DA series.
Very bad control which is't configured for PC.

Best Dragon Age so far, hands down. Pity about the naff writing. [Issue#257, p.51]

The masters over at Bioware have done it again. This epic journey into the world of Thedas will steal more than 100 hours of your time, hours so full of superb gaming that you'll never forget them.

Despite numerous shortcomings, the new BioWare project is undoubtedly worth your attention. One of the best RPGs of 2014.
