    Dragomon Hunter Online is fun. There are no two ways about it. The graphics are decent, the game play is solid, the defeating of Dragomon and having the at-time horrific RNG go your way and getting it for a mount is terrific and some of the little touches are welcome. It is, I believe, a diamond in the rough. If enough attention is paid to cleaning up gold sellers, making item shop prices more reasonable and some of the forced quests in to optional ones, it could be a real gem over time. Kids and anime fans will enjoy their time as one of those games to pick up now and again.

    PROS

    +Nice artstyle and soudtrack
    +Great concept, but it has its cons (ill get to that in a bit)
    +A good time killer
    +Very very VERY small pay2win aspects
    +A little store to buy mounts (you need to farm the in-game money though)
    +A roll button to avoid attacks (for me, thats a nice aspect and a pro)

    CONS

    -It holds your hand. Want to go to the location of the quest? click the white text and you'll be automaticly driven to the location. For me, thats a con because first: the world isnt THAT big that you would get lost (and you have the frikin minimap for pete's sake) and second: in the main city there are some zones where you will glitch because the auto-moving system forces you to go close to the walls.
    -The key bindings. While you can move your camera with QE to the sides, and walk around with WASD, the attack buttons are the 1-9 buttons. You know, the ones on top of the keyboard. And no, you can't use the numpad. If its one of your first MMO's, this won't bother you much, but for me i had to change the key bindings, and veteran MMO players will probably have to too.
    -Quests. Now, i know that quests aren't easy to make, but come on. On about level 20, 30 and 40 you will get a quest saying "Reached level 30/40/50". What does it mean? well, it means you will have to do repeated quests over and over again just to get to the desired level, so you can continue with the story. And when i say repeated quests i mean you will want to do bosses, since they give out the most exp per quest completed.
    -Small game. I know this came out on the end of last year, but 60 hours in and im already level 42 (as the time of this review of course). Now, on this game, you have 2 types of levels: Level (the normal one), being max level 50, and Hunter Level, being max level 75. They both level up together, no specific quests for any of them though.
    -Unbalanced PvP. In this game, there are 2 types of PvP: battlefield and arenas. Arenas are "capture and defend tower" style in 3v3 teams. Battlefields are classic 5v5 battles. Now, first of all, it takes a lot of time for a match to start, after queueing up you'll wait about 10-20 mins before it starts. And second, you must, and i do mean YOU MUST reach max level before playing PvP. Or else, you'll get in the arena and die constantly, because everyone else is max level and they will focus on you, since you are the weakest.
    +/- (this can be seen as a pro or a con, your decision) Mounts. In this game you can get mounts by 2 ways: farming and being lucky enough so the monster you are farming drops an egg with a permanent mount of itself; Or by farming bosses that give you "dragomon points". Dragomon points can be used to buy a mount you want if you have enough, so you don't spend time farming that monster. You can also buy mounts from regions you still haven't visited.
    Now, you can also get boss mounts, which are basicly mounts you get from killing bosses (OHH IM A GENIUS HOW DID I FIGURE THAT OUT HUH?). The only problem is, first the bosses only drop mounts on hard mode, and second, those mounts are only usable in PvP, and if you die in PvP riding the mount, you lose it. The only way you can get a boss mount to walk around is by paying real money and buying it in the in-game mall. Also, did i mention the drop rate for the egg itself its low? Don't even get me started on the permanent mount.

    OVERALL

    Overall, i recomend this game for those who are starting to enter the world of MMO's. Its a fun little game to pass time too, ive had a lot of fun with it, the combat is not the best, but it feels fast and fluid. Veteran MMO players won't probably like this as much, but i don't know. The game overall looks nice and has a nice idea. It needs some tweeks, but its a fun little timekiller and a good beginner's MMO for those starting to play this genre.    … Full Review »

    I personally like Japanese MMos - X-Legend usually produces fairly good ones, granted they are usually P2W or have hacker problems, but usually the story, classes and gameplay is at least good enough, but Dragomon Hunters is a fail in my books, I'm sorry for all the fan boys here.

    There is more or less no reason to ever group, the game is 90% Solo Instanced, your gaming life in DMH is purely based on repeating the same Bulletin board missions each day, every day - occasionally teaming up for group based ones which can even be solo'd once you get high enough level. There is very very few areas where you can go hunting and see other players, and most of the time - the other players you'll see will be hordes of bots anyway - this instancing was most likely done to limit the damage by botters since the amount of exp/items/gold you can get from these open areas is minimal and for the most part, serves very little purpose.

    Some of the bosses are so poorly scripted, they just went nuts with red lines/circles of death that its nearly impossible to dodge everything thats thrown at you - Its so bad that the best strategy most of the time is just ignore the boss attacks and just throw everything you have. Some of the bosses like the Torrkus' are just bad, as he tends just to charge around the arena - and worse, playing with noobs in that instance can reset the boss fight exceptionally easy.

    The farming aspect of the game is also terribly implemented, imagine for what amounts to a solo feature of the game then the developers placing in a RAID level boss appear occasionally and attack your farm, destroying and injuring your animals which require time, gold and a bit of effort to heal back up. The farm rager is just so horribly implemented its one of the worst features in Dragomon Hunters, On paper it sounds like a good idea- but the execution just doesn't work. In principal is that you need to join a large guild, add every friend you can possible get and have them all defend your farm when its attacked using your stored pets, and for the most part you really need rare/purple level+ pets.

    Then you have the P2W aspects especially with crafting and the typical powering up of gear, you can upgrade all your gear to 2* then after that its all cash shop. You can buy evolution gems, but still thats fairly expensive - then on top of that you have the usual cash shop based dragomon and partners, kinder the same as Aura Kingdom with the eidolons which cost $$$($) in order to get sometimes.

    Honestly, I would avoid this game and hopefully Aeria picks up Astral Realms which WILL be the game everyone wants to play and enjoy, after all - it is the sequel is Eden Eternal after all.    … Full Review »

Add in daily limits for everything (even limits on how many mobs you can kill in a day and how many characters you can delete..everything just limited to death )and a heavy repair cost just for attacking ... pretty much punishes players that want to play. This is on par for Aeria games. Limits , limits and more oppressive limits. Whats the point in playing a game that doesn't want you to play? Aeria adds insult to injury by capitalizing on many peoples gambling addictions as all aeria games have a "slot machine" type game that has all the really desirable items in game, with literally 0.00 chance of getting said item.
