    Wasn't sure what to think about this game when alex introduced it to me. I found it hard to believe that there were league and championships dedicated to play this let alone the hype behind it, though that could be my doupts due to it's link with blizzard.

    It's very fun and here Valve are just laughing at the bank with the game as people loved the origonal so much.     It's very fun and here Valve are just laughing at the bank with the game as people loved the origonal so much. In this case, you might as well just give your money to valve, it's making that much. Very fun RPG, yet hard to explain. You get to pick a character, level him/her/it up and the objective is to destroy the enemy base.

    Each base creates small creatures called "creeps" and you gain gold for xp by killing creeps and destroying towers. In this case the creeps are red-shirts, running into battle and no real loss when they die. You can download it for free, spectator a match and see what you think. what do you have to lose?

    Since then they've exited beta and now you can take on a tutorial to learn more about the game rarther than put up with the difficult learning curve that I had to suffer with having never touched Dota2 before.    … Expand

    Constant updates. Financial model which does not effect gameplay. Initial learning curve is quite steep but there are customizable lobbies and co op bot matches to hone your skills. The one point off i gave because nothing is ever perfect. Any gripes you hear about the community is testimony to humanity, and not this game.     I respect those people who do not like DotA 2, BUT if you rate this game down because you do not like this game, then you are retarded. You only rate a game if you really played the game before, NOT because you don't like it.

    DotA 2's growth is amazing. Just take a look at the tournaments. We have the biggest prize pool in e-sports history, and it will increase every year for sure. That says a lot about this game. People pay for it. People earn a living from it, not only from playing, but by casting it too. We have awesome casters like TobiWan, LD, Merlini and much more. They will make tournament games much enjoyable to watch as they already are.

    As for the gameplay, I'm sure many other reviews had mentioned about it, so I would not waste your time here. Hop on the train, if you have what it takes. WE WANT YOU.    … Expand

    I hoped this game would get me really hooked up for a long long time but for my surprise when I was going to play my first match I discovered that the community is really unsupportive not beginner-friendly I just need 3 words to describe this game WORST COMUNNITY EVER

    It's not funny to play the game, after it was realised to free to play. The mute system needs a lot of work, and people just ban without a reason.

    Valve screwed the community over again,4 months no hero,no Halloween event (even though other Valve games have it),just hats. The game is dead. That's it.

    Easily the best PvP game available. Tons of depth and replay value. I started playing MOBA's with League of Legends and once I got a Beta invite to DOTA2 I found it impossible to go back to league.

    This game is actually amazing. Easily the best in the genre. Valve could communicate/listen to the community more but that doesn't change the game. Shame the community has reacted in this fashion.

    This is truly an amazing and masterfully crafted game. It's absolutely pathetic that some members of the community think it's okay to ruin the User Score by being entitled brats. Don't let all the "bad" reviews turn you off from this game.

    More hats and tickets less useful updates.
    Volvo became too greedy.
    The game was much better in early stages without shops, crates, tickets, lots of sets for 15$+ etc.
    No diretide was the last straw.

    I've played LOL, HON, DotA, and DOTA 2. By far DOTA 2 is the best of the 4. Has the best community and most dynamic game play. Unlike most of the other clones, I love how comebacks are possible if the team pulls together in the end.

    Compared to League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth, Dota 2 has more unique heroes and items. It is more advanced and rewarding than LoL. It is slower than HoN, which is important in team fights. The best popular MOBA out there.

    A really great online battle game, loads of depth, lots of heroes and lots of replay-ability. Very nice business model in that you only really pay for vanity gear, just wish they updated the game a bit more regularly. Still a 10 from me due to the sheer value for money and quality of the product.

    Come on people with games like this you really can't look at the user score. If you read a lot of these reviews of people who gave it a 1 or a 0 the only negative thing they can say is "other players were mean to me so I stopped playing!!" wow haha they got to you that bad?     And this dichotomy is perhaps the best descriptor I can attach to Dota 2. It is frequently a game which occupies two opposite spaces simultaneously. It is the best game. It is also the worst game. No game has ever made me as miserable as Dota 2 has. But no game has made me feel so consistently rewarded for my time, and as consistently, wonderfully connected to the friends I play it with.
