    Dota 2 is an amazing game, made by an absolutely terrible team. Hasn't been updated in almost a half a year, no community interaction on what's going on, while the only thing that gets added is cash shop items.

    The game is good, but it is being handled in a pathetic manner by VALVE

    1.Garbage matchmaking
    2.Garbage communication from the developers
    3.Garbage game engine results in 9 games without someone being able to load and you reenter the queue
    4.Null communication and 0 visibility ni visible MMR no ladders
    5.No Regin locks
    P.S. You take a perfect game and turn it into wjrst game ever created.

    I really couldnt get into this game... I really didnt want to spend 1500 hours (as some reviewers state) playing a game that seems to me to be very repetitive and dull. And unless you have no life at all outside the pc, then you will be simple fodder for the rest of the players.

    Make a game that is based on a mod, with a company who has a huge track record in modded servers and editing, with no modding feature, Thanks valve! And screw your entire fan base without even telling them! Game sucks

    I think this game blows my mind every time i play it i am addicted to it it is so fun valve has accomplished so much all the haters hate but this game makes league look like duke nukem

    The game is great, but situation with diretide is full of shame for valve. The problem is not braking promise about every year event, but the problem is mostly complete lack of response and dialog with community from valve company. There was no official answer. They simply don't give a about us. Thank you

    Worst game ever, valve is on the community constantly. At the beginning, the plan was to get the full hero pool of wc3 dota as fast as possible. Now, their priorities changed. They rather do stupid cosmetic stuff and tickets than adding heroes or talking to the community. They have absolutely no contact to the users, they just want our money. Didnt expect that from Valve.

Feeding them cosmetics and no new information about the game development itself? I really couldn't believe that the developers abandoned this game. So what, the money you got from compendiums not enough for funding theValve's "should be" good game. But what does Valve give to its community? A SLAP OF HAT UPDATES AND NOTHING MORE.     Played the game for about 400 hours and here's my review.

    Well,let's start from the pros first - The HUD has improved,you don't have to click on the NPCs to view shop items anymore.There are also suggested items for every hero. - In the old Dota if you were a beginner you could get killed without even noticing,but on the new one when you get hit you got the red effect on the    Played the game for about 400 hours and here's my review.

    - The HUD has improved,you don't have to click on the NPCs to view shop items anymore.There are also suggested items for every hero.

    - In the old Dota if you were a beginner you could get killed without even noticing,but on the new one when you get hit you got the red effect on the screen,also the hero health bars look different so you can figure out stuff easier.

    Cons

    - The matchmaking system must be fixed.You can have 1 hour of gameplay and suddenly end up with 2 or 3 pros on the other team which obviously isn't fair.

    - Even though you choose to play in european servers there are bunch of Russians (not racist) who don't speak English .Those who do speak English tend to be offensive against everyone and refuse to cooperate.

    - Though the buy-able cosmetics do not give any advantage to the player,it's a big problem for other players who just don't care about them and don't want them.That's because they have to download 7gbs of useless models.I'm pretty sure that the game itself isn't even 5gb.

    Tip Find some people to play with if you're not patient.Otherwise you'll be wasting your time.    … Expand

    I didn’t played dota 1, I was introduced to dota 2 a year ago since the game was in top rank of players on steam, well I decided to view a video, I liked it. Then, the nightmare started, they yelled on me, they called me a noob, they insulted, reported, I was in low priority a lot of times but guess    I know a lot of people here will understand my feelings, i just want to express this…
    I didn’t played dota 1, I was introduced to dota 2 a year ago since the game was in top rank of players on steam, well I decided to view a video, I liked it. Then, the nightmare started, they yelled on me, they called me a noob, they insulted, reported, I was in low priority a lot of times but guess whatwhat, I didn’t cry like some of the losers I saw here, I knew I was a noob, sometimes I attacked heros being attacked by creeps at the same time early game (and that caused death), teammated said to me “stay close to towers and you will be fine” I watched playes that owned others and screenshoted their builds to try to understand how it’s done, and I deserve it I felt bad because it was a hard game but when I saw the international that confirmed my desire, I wanted to LEARN that freaking hard and amazing game, the fact that I saw a giant roster of heros, a lot of ways to build a hero, a lot of combinations, wow!, I knew I wasn’t playing a little thing. THAT motivated me to improve.
    Because I have internet, instead (and not knowing at all) I decided to READ heros descriptions and LEARN I watched videos, viewed builds/guides (if you played a MMORPG you know what Im talking) is not a big thing, just a little learning, then, something magic happened, I started to improve, I started to buy courier and the team won, and I FEEL GOOD.
    For the first time in a single game I felt I learnt a very hard thing, to communicate English properly, to teamfight, to PLACE WARDS, but most of all to LEARN.
    A lot of months have passed since the greeviling, and I felt a high income of new players, that was good, new people playing, its ok if you have a nice tutorial, not everybody can have the same passion about hard video games like me to search and learn, so most of the people will get bored and abandon the game before extracting its potential to be super fun, matchmaking take a lot of minutes, sometimes you could had waited like 20 minutes for a single match? Like if you wanted to play a match, you can play one on your mind while you wait. That’s ok, I thought there isn’t a lot of players with my number of wins/skill level (at that point I knew game basics, ward, courier, but not deward, dust/sentry when necessary yet) that allowed me to play something tolerable. The nightmare of being yelled cause was my fault (actually it was) that team lose, but another worse nightmare started now…
    Actually the matchmaking system will make you hate this game, not even be able to want to learn, finding a match takes a lot less, but I get matchmaked with people that doesn’t have 50 wins (and I have around 900) if Valve wanted cooperative learning Valve failed (until now) because we have a bad tutorial, we actually have like 5 stages of tutorial (yea, long and tedious) but still don’t talk about the philosophy of the game! I still don’t see to tell the new people that if you pick a support and you don’t buy wards/courier you will increase to lose since minute 00:00, same for wards, same for sentry/dust. So playing with these people is like talking in another language, they pick venomancer/lina cause are cute and they got bored of play a drow/ursa and you tell them to buy courier, they say “buy it yourself, you are mid, you buy, I don’t have money” then you get muted for being a noob and know how to play the game and telling them that we will lose if you don’t buy anything for the team, only 1 newbie with no desire to learn in team and you are enjoy 30-45 minute sitting back in your sit and get confortable, because that will be a looooong ride to sure lose and wasting your time, why team game if tutorial don’t tell you that you are a mere piece of a cog and not the superman or a nice frager that will save the team being a support and say at the end of the game.
    "Omfg I’m 19-15-3 report the noobs, they didn’t killed a single anon Lina around 80 wins, 2013 (ofc no ward/courier, and taking mid).
    If you never played MOBA’s or don’t have a real interest to LEARN the game just don’t play it, you will end hating the game at the first week, you need to wait until they fix the matchmaking system and above all, a GOOD and not tedious, long tutorial that encourages people to LEARN, not giving all the food in a dish to their mouths like a freaking baby, I know most of us americlaps, want a easy game, and start fragging right away and feel like a pro at the first week, people, this aint team fortress 2 or counter strike, is a hard ass game and you will suck at start no matter what, you gamer powers that no one cares but you will fail here at start, but the only thing that will not fail is a desire to LEARN with that Valve, with that, you will achieve a masterpiece, until that, this game is in pub matchmaking, just fun when u play with friends (full party or at least 3) for now, is only a troll matchmaking and tutorial.    … Expand

    Poor implementation, nasty community and generally rather slow paced. I wanted to try this as i loved DOTA 1 and have played a lot of MOBA since but actually it is palid by comparison to LoL and the main thing is Its Just Not Fun!!. My advice is go with LoL

    Dota 2 is an amazing game marred by several puzzling omissions.

    To start with, if you don't know what the game is about, think League of Legends. Except it's League of Legends' grandfather, the original Warcraft III mod that started it all, now with a fresh new coat of paint thanks to Valve.

    For 2 years of my expirience in dota 2 i can se no changes at all. Look how much heroes per week was relised in 2011 or 2012 and now. The only one thing valve is thinking about is hats and money from marketplace.

    NEVER have i seen a game that is worse than this one for new players. Tutorials are great, but than again you're forced to do them. When you done em, it helps 0.0 with the online experience. It is not clear for me, if i can make a char and level/upgrade it or if i have to start over and over, now whats the fun about that. The camera angle is very annoying, didn't see anyway to change it.

    This game is not as exciting or fun as others would make it seem. It is incredibly unbalanced, and you will be forced to lose game after game. Of course, this is all while you are being forced to sit through the whole game and get helplessly demolished. More than anything, DOTA 2 is a massive waste of time.     Great game. Has unfairly got many unfair reviews because there wasn't diretide. Takes a bit of time to learn, but if you persist, it pays off. Pretty good graphics.

    Very addictive, and not pay to win. Valve had, instead of using the time to give diretide, improved the game very much. Haters hate the game due to the lack of diretide, but I personally think that the time had been spent correctly on improving the game.

    O nobody of them (if you have any lol) play this.
    Solution-> be polite sharpen your skills be a good player and ask other people you played with (that you consider good in any meaning of the term) to play again with you.

    Been playing this a LOT with a group of friends people seem to be hating due to Valve not constantly giving them stuff, you know like a completely free to play game Seems to be a lot of LOL lovers hating on DOTA LOL is a great game which I enjoy however you need to buy the heroes or you can play the free handful on the weekly cycle.     I love this game, been playing it since it launched 3 years ago and since then valve has been great at improving the game and have done fantastic work advertising dota 2.     Dota 2 is a fantastic MOBA that is based off of the original Dota 1 from the WC3 era. The game is immensely complex in all of its mechanics but very simple to understand. All heroes are immediately available, there is a tutorial mode for new players, and the ability to create your own private matches if you have a large group of friends to play your own games. These matches can also be changed to include 'cheats' and have zero cool down on abilities which makes for some hilarious games with your friends.

    Generally, Dota 2 is hugely addictive, and is a ton of fun! Particularly when you get into the high skill heroes and when you learn the 'juke spots'. There is a ton of material on youtube to help you learn and to up your game. I personally have logged well over a 1000 hours as have many of my friends. No server lag here since I have been playing it, cosmetics are nice but wish there was more to purchase than hero sets,courier skins and hud skins.The only complaint I have is the the dota loading emblem, on start up it tends to pixelate very harshly.

    I was happy back in the day HoN got launched because of the features. With DotA 2 it's possible to play the original with these features and more. Still the deepest and most complex game of the genre, whatever the name should be.

    2. Valve has selective hearing when it comes to the Dota 2 community which is based upon the same community that build WCIII DOTA in the first place.

    3. Valve does not have a habit of keeping Dota 2 players abreast with the latest developments. At the time of writing (Nov 6, 2013), the last Dota 2 blog post was on September 19.

    4. Valve hosts one of the most lucrative tournaments and supports smaller tournaments, but they can't get this right Team Logos and Team Banners. Players have been complaining about this for nearly a year. Shouldn't Valve be trying to help teams? Aren't they the key to a robust competitive scene?

    5. Valve has prostituted the beloved Icefrog the man that single-handedly made ARTS/MOBA what it is today. Icefrog no longer communicates with the community. That is sad.

    6. Valve implemented a terrible tutorial system that doesn't help me bring new players into the game. They should take a page out of LoL.

    7. Valve doesn't see a need in improving the MMR/report system, or are hiring really stupid people to do it. They should take a page out of LoL.

    8. Valve somehow thinks that a ladder system is not important. This means that there are times that my five man stack meets absolutely new players. I don't think they are going to play Dota 2 long if they keep getting stomped.

    9. Valve has no qualms going back on its word. They said that Diretide is an annual event. They lied. No apologies, even for those who have spent a lot of money on their product. That sucks. That is UNPROFESSIONAL.

    This is an amazing game that's a blast to play with friends. It's always challenging, and has a very high skill cap, so there's always room to learn and grow. It also has one of the best competitive scenes out there right now. The best feature by far is having one of the greatest minds in game design and balance at the helm, guiding the metagame to be fresh and fun.

    Theres a total of more than 100 heroes making the replayability very high.

    The key point to win in this game is team cooperation in teamfights and your team selection.

    No matter how good a player is, if his team dont work together it will be nearly impossible to win.

    So if you like a fast multiplayer competition with lot of replayability and dont care about a lot of training to be a really a good player you will love this game.

    Any low score this game receive if from whiners that want everthing easy this game is not easy and you need practice to master it.

    Valve updates this game every week in order to balance it, hearing what the community has to say and changing the game accordingly. So if you do stick with this game and learn the basics, which will take more than a month of hard work, you'll be rewarded with one of the most in depth games I've ever played in my life, and also one of the best.     Never In my entire life have I witnessed a worse community revolving around a video-game than the one that is to be found in Dota 2. The players are: Egotistic, ego centric, unsporting, aggressive, hostile, uncaring, mean, mistrusting, immature, callous, apathetic and incredibly pretentious while at every loss prompting everyone    i am really really disappointed with my team right now
    Never In my entire life have I witnessed a worse community revolving around a video-game than the one that is to be found in Dota 2. The players are: Egotistic, ego centric, unsporting, aggressive, hostile, uncaring, mean, mistrusting, immature, callous, apathetic and incredibly pretentious while at every loss prompting everyone inside the current game to "Report player X" if someone on their team was even remotely new to the game or did any other action not sanctified by them, be it going in what lane you want, not purchasing courier/wards or simply just had an unlucky run/getting cross-classed. Along with being completely miserable to be around, they frequently never speak the language in the region you're playing and nowhere else is this more apparent when russian is spammed into the chat at all times on European zones from 3 different sources at once. And if people do know English, trolling is nothing short but assured from all directions to all teams.

    Second biggest problem with this game would be the elitist mindset that orbits anyone that has played this atrocious game for more than a couple of hours. Any behavior that breaks the typical dota 2's hardcore player routine of buying tango, healing salve and iron branches, perhaps with some boots of speed if they're feeling adventurous will result in a wave of F-bombs, intentional feeding, votes of surrender, spam prompts to report player X and disconnecting users as far as the eye can see. I even had cases where players left the game because some guy forgot to buy a courier at the start of the game. And that's me overlooking the fact that killstealing off your TEAMMATES is considered average behavior/a common tactic. In LoL, you can even report people for "being unskilled". As in, anyone. Even if they're level 1.To put it bluntly, MOBA's like dota 2 give out a special kind of disgusting behavior that makes me feel physically ill for very good reasons.

    Coming close to problem number 2 is the third epic fail problem of this game. The match-making in Dota 2. Broken, poorly thought through and executed horribly. You are prompted to select a variety of regions before initiating the match-making system and the more regions you have selected, the less waiting time..

    Which begs the question, what is the point with the regional system if you're just gonna encourage people to sign up for all regions? The end result will be that nobody sticking to their geographical zones and not only causes frustration in the form of people trying to communicate and chat with eachother in the chat as described above but also disallows any kind of vocal text tactical communication since everyone does not speak the same language. In all honestly, this game is overloaded with issues just like this and I would be able to overlook this particular embarassing design-flop if it wasn't for the actual hard functionality of the MM as well being broken. The scenario on where 4-5 organized people in a group, all sitting in ventrilo/teamspeak while packing thousands of hours in Dota 2 each have a very likely possibility to be "teamed" up against new players with less than 10 hours with no complaints from the match-making system (even if there is a very large queue) throws out any chance of that. This happens particulary often if you decide to try the game out with a friend or two which leaves me with yet another question: The purpose of match-making was to find equally skilled opponents. So why is this even remotely possible? Team-based games with a mandatory MM are supposed to be fair. Not Tyrannosaurus rex VS a duckling. I'm reluctant to say that Dota 2 even has a match-making at all once you look at all the facts.

    Even with all these problems, I could actually see myself overlooking them at a certain time during a year due to the sheer amount of possible combinations in this game with heroes & items and the addictive quality the game has if it wasn't for all the other flaws.

    The commitment to play DotA MOBA's however, is the biggest flaw of them all that this game inhibits. It changes whoever plays the game as a person. For the worse. Why? Because the game inhibits "addictive" qualities similar with that of jamming needles full with endorphin into your spine every half hour. It's painful, it hurts your emotional stability, it hurts you as a person and it hurts the people around you and for what? A small kick of pleasure/self satisfaction as you managed to win a fundamentally unbalanced game with an emphasis on gank above all else due to chance or otherwise pre-meditated "pubstomping"? Not worth it in so many ways since at the end of the day, Dota 2 will never be fully balanced because Valve will be split between tournament-balances and casual or the "normal" version of the game while repeatedly adding more and more content in the form of heroes.

    This game is actually too good for your health. If you're in a relationship where you're living together, you must make a decision: dota 2 or your relationship.

    I played a lot of Valve games before this one, and to be honest I played LoL before this and I didn't like it at all. I didn't even know this existed until its second year. And I must say I have gained more out of this game than any other. Compared to other games, this game has hours, months, and for many, years of play without losing value. It seems like a new game every time becauseI played a lot of Valve games before this one, and to be honest I played LoL before this and I didn't like it at all. The only complaint is that when you play solo you get the bottom of the barrel, so parting up with some friends is the best way to go.… Expand

    Firstly, its a free to play game created by one of the reputed developer company Valve.
    If you have ever played WC3 DotA on which this game is based, it has improved a lot and constantly evolving. Not only is it free to play, but also the purchasable content is strictly cosmetic.     And this dichotomy is perhaps the best descriptor I can attach to Dota 2. It is frequently a game which occupies two opposite spaces simultaneously. It is the best game. It is also the worst game. No game has ever made me as miserable as Dota 2 has. But no game has made me feel so consistently rewarded for my time, and as consistently, wonderfully connected to the friends I play it with.
