    Best game ive ever played, altho kind of rough learning curve. They say until you play at least 10k hours you are still noob. Also very time consuming. I play it on and off since its release, and its getting only better.

    This game improved so much since it was released on the beta. There are over 90 heroes to choose from currently and the game play is as intense and as rewarding as DOTA1. I know a lot of people will be hesitant to try it at first but there has been a new tutorial system implemented in DOTA2 and I think it will help new comers. Its like comparing COD and Battlefield, they are so differentThis game improved so much since it was released on the beta. Recently, in 2022, I decided to give it another shot and returned to the battlefield, totaling around 4k hours across my accounts.

    The game    Dota 2, to me, stands as the best, most complex, addicting, rewarding, and polished MOBA out there. However, my relationship with the game has been tumultuous due to its community, prompting me to quit in 2014-2015 (after Techies' hero launch). Recently, in 2022, I decided to give it another shot and returned to the battlefield, totaling around 4k hours across my accounts.

    The game itself is a masterpiece, boasting intricate mechanics and well-crafted gameplay. Yet, it is plagued by one significant drawback—the Dota 2 community. Within its player base, you'll find individuals who refuse to communicate in English, spammers, and those who feed intentionally due to petty disagreements about lane assignments. Toxicity is a common occurrence, particularly in unranked matches, although ranked play varies depending on your rank.

    Before diving into Dota 2, it's crucial to consider this aspect of the community. However, if you can endure the toxic encounters, you'll discover a game that truly shines with its skill-dependent gameplay. Mastering Dota 2 takes time and dedication, and new players will likely feel overwhelmed by the vast amount of knowledge to absorb. Yet, with perseverance, you'll grasp the intricacies and improve over time.

    One of the game's standout features is its excellent free-to-play business model. All gameplay content, including heroes, modes, and the arcade, is accessible for free. However, Dota 2 monetizes through cosmetics and battle passes, which offer a plethora of cosmetics and rewards earned through grinding. It's important to exercise caution here; while cosmetics add a nice touch to the game, excessive spending on them can quickly escalate. To get the most value for your money, consider purchasing cosmetics from the marketplace rather than opening chests.

    One particular feature that I find bothersome is the Dota Plus subscription. While it offers some helpful in-game suggestions, it veers into the territory of pay-to-win elements, which detracts from the game's competitive integrity. Moreover, they lock player progression behind the subscription, stopping heroes' progression to level 5 for non-subscribers. Progression is a fundamental aspect of gaming, and gating it behind a subscription is an unnecessary inconvenience.

    Despite these drawbacks, Dota 2 remains an exceptional game at its core, offering an unparalleled MOBA experience. Just be prepared to face the challenges presented by its community, and you'll find a deeply rewarding and engaging gaming journey ahead.    … Expand

    Надо признать, что игра крайне долго держится на плаву. И по сей день, хоть и крайне редко, заходя в нее, я получаю то, зачем пришел. На первый взгляд токсичное комьюнити оставляет желать лучшего, но очень скоро начинаешь к этому привыкать, и понимаешь, что эта, безусловно, уродливая часть игры, является забавной особенностью.Надо признать, что игра крайне долго держится на плаву. И по сей день, хоть и крайне редко, заходя в нее, я получаю то, зачем пришел.     Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) in Warcraft III is the best and greatest MOBA game, no doubt. DOTA 2 is the next generation and a standalone version that is kept updated. I don't suggest anyone who never played DOTA to play it unless you have some really nice friends to play with you.     This game is a timeless classic. The fact that it is a decade old and continues to be one of the most popular titles on Twitch by viewership speaks for itself. If you are into PvP MobA action, Dota 2 is the perfect game for you. Valve keeps the game consistently fresh and updated so the replayability is endless

    You may not like the genre but this is single-handedly the best MOBA out there.
    The community is really bad and toxic and the dev team working on it could use some more people but there's nothing to lose here from a free game.

    What I hated, the players expect you to know all the buzz words and gameplay. This can't be avoided because not knowing can be game ending. I highly recommend looking up videos about how to play your hero because if you miss click or don't get to fire off, there is no redo or pause button because the entire game is live with ten people. Meaning that if the restroom is needed, 9 people will be waiting for a return and they aren't patient because anyone can resume the game after 30 seconds.

    There is no campaign here, so, all that is needed to know is how to play. Once you know your hero, the next step is to learn all the items that can extend your abilities. With over 208 items. It will never get boring.

    What I love. The cosmetics have a market and the prices can go to the moon and back. A player can spend on cosmetics, return in 3 years and get their return and then some. Do you want invisibility? Well there's an item for that. Do you want regeneration? There a item for that. Do you want to shock your enemy with a dragon stick? Well it's on sale!

    No friends? No problem. There is a match finder and it takes about 3 minutes on average to find a game. Gamer be ware because each game is on minimum 35 minutes and I'm not joking. The glory of winning in team is nothing short of incredible.

    Tournaments for this game are in the millions every year. It's amazing that they are able to book arenas for just one game. 9/10    … Expand

    Dota 2 has a very rich and long history, a very steep learning curve and a huge and creative community.

    Dota 2 is an E-sport, so you don't even have to play it to enjoy it.

    Dota 2 is a team game, thus playing with friends is advised. It consumes a lot of time if your aim is to get to the top of the ranking system. Be aware that too much of Dota can be harmful for your health.

    Dota2 is in my opinion the best MOBA that has ever been around (or at least in the past 10 years) and no other game gets close to it in all graphics, playability, difficulty, heroes, world, etc... let's get honest, LoL is for easy players, if you like hardcore gaming then Dota2 is for you.

    I still can't believe the game is free after all these years and with continuous updates,    Dota2 is in my opinion the best MOBA that has ever been around (or at least in the past 10 years) and no other game gets close to it in all graphics, playability, difficulty, heroes, world, etc... let's get honest, LoL is for easy players, if you like hardcore gaming then Dota2 is for you.

    The only, but very important, downside of this game is its community which is harsh and full of a-h...annoying people. Not sure what Valve can do to mitigate that but it's something I've been struggling with all these years, sometimes it gets too annoying that after being trashed, trolled or what not during a game, I literally just uninstall... just to come back few months after when I am tired of other games.    … Expand

    The game loop of Dota2 has probably been one of the most emulated in recent game history. In an essence, I would describe it as an RPG in 40 minutes. You level up, you gain items etc., and hopefully become the hero by beating the opponent or not. In truth, there is no winning in dota 2, even when you win, you are constantly reminded by how terrible of a human being you are by your toxicThe game loop of Dota2 has probably been one of the most emulated in recent game history. In truth, there is no winning in dota 2, even when you win, you are constantly reminded by how terrible of a human being you are by your toxic teammates/opponents and yourself once you have played enough. Stay away for the peace of your mind.

    Dota 2 is an addictive strategy planning game. You do not need to spend a penny for it. Just go online and play. The best game ever created.
    Recommendation: Mute everybody, disable help. Focus on game.

Unfortunately, I am one of those victims that fell into its trap.

Like a wise man once said, it brings out the best and worst in you. Few games have ever come close to make you come close to breaking down to the brink of insanity and will challenge every single aspect in your entire life. And that's what makes Dota 2 so addicting.

    The community is one thing but the gameplay is also another thing to be discussed. Okay, so it has the same rules as any other MOBAs would have, you have to go into your lane, farm, fight, take objectives, and win the game, how hard could it be? That's where it starts to run deeper in it. The gameplay has so many mechanics and requires a high amount of focus into it to the point where it'll take your whole puberty stage to get to the point of just literally mastering its mechanics. If you're new, just try and watch a match while telling me exactly what just happened in your eyes. Every hero has various animations, effects, and confusing ultimates, only those who know the game will literally understand what the hell is going on.

    The good things about Dota 2 can also be explored into as well. With its diverse heroes and the help of creative strategies, things can actually work in the world of Dota 2. The game heavily punishes newcomers, which still makes sense even in the new tutorial feature added into the game. But for the fans who persevered and showed tenacity will be rewarded one of the most satisfying things to ever been experienced that comes equal to literally intercourse.

    As a player who has played for 4 years, I cannot show enough appreciation of how much I loved this game despite the toxicity shown by the community. Its complex yet rewarding gameplay, diverse heroes to play, and how it manages to still tell you there are more things in this game than literally life itself. Dota 2 is a well-crafted masterpiece by the people who have shown us what made MOBAs so addicting in the first place.    … Expand

Unfortunately the tutorial is too short, maybe 15 minutes long and you still dont know how to use the courier, how to build a strategies for your heroes and so on.     As a beginner you will get overinformed. Positively you can say, the game is complex and you need a lot of time to get into it and understand every detail, what is necessary, because your enemies know them. So this is another aspect of the game: in the beginning you will die very often, what is frustrating. I would like to know, how the match making is programmed, I saw only few newbies in my games. One last thing I dont like in this game: the camera is too near to the heroes and it lacks good overview. This was a nightmare already in Warcraft 3, here it is better, but still a problem.

    Enough of negative aspects, this game is surely very good. There are a over 100 heroes and many items to build up a strategy. You have only 4 abilities, so this is not so complex. And there is only 1 map (why?). So you need to focus on your hero and which item to buy, but this is enough to spend hours building a hero and there are many of them.
    The community? In average I had 1 idiot every 10 games. The best thing you can do is to ignore such kids and report them.

    After you get past the learning curve, this game will give you the best PvP adrenaline rush you could possibly want. Great to play with friends and challenging to play on your own. The community is extremely toxic, but the game gets very addictive, very quickly.

I also dig the more serious/realistic approach to the way graphics are rendered, as compared to LoL, where in that it all feels cartoony.

    Definitely best MOBA out there. Game is very complicated and difficult to learn for those who have never played similar games before, but in my opinion complexity is not a flaw. Due to frequent updates Dota 2 never gets repetitive and manages to adapt without changing its core aspects.

    I was kicked due to error of server and then banned for leaving. But it is ok, it is no like big company created that game... oh, wait...
    many basic errors, no optimalisation, many games of single developers are better synchronized. That is just a shame.

    I didn't expect to like Dota 2 much. But I think the game is fine. It is not perfect but it is fine. I've played thousands hours of it. I don't *love* it. But yeah... it is an okay game.

    It's great game. All the apparent "hate" only comes from people that wouldn't play dota anyway or they play other mobas so their "hate" is unbased. The game is challenging because you need to learn a ton of stuff. Hero abilities, items and all the possible counters. Frankly with updates they've made this very easy to do.     Honestly though, contrary to popular opinion DotA is a very fun game. It is just not a fun game for stupid people or people that are not willing to take some time to learn the game. This game will not spoonfeed you on how to play, nor will it easily allow you to catch up if you make mistakes. Like in the real world if you make mistakes in battle you will suffer.

    A few tips:
    Try to keep a level head, and bonus points for a positive attitude. Your team will appreciate it a lot, and they will be more willing to work with you.
    Pay attention to the map, your surroundings, and your enemies items.
    Read your abilities carefully, read the patch notes, read the items abilities.
    Practice heroes in demo mode (this is different from bot practice or private lobby.)
    Get yourself a mic. Effective communication is one of your biggest utilities.
    If a hero that is in your lane goes missing call missing immediately. Better safe than sorry.
    Buy wards. Wards might typically be a supports 'job', but they will save your life and get you kills, which will easily make up for the gold cost. Also, your team will appreciate you that much more, which will result in them being much more likely to try to help you out and listen to you.
    Use your scan. I find that this tool is way overlooked. At least in my bracket. It's up every 5 minutes, and it can only help (if not to tell you where someone is; it will tell you where they are not.)
    Nobody is good at DotA. There is always someone much better than you are. So do your best and try not to talk trash.
    Treat this as a chance to develop team communication skills
    Deny creeps as much as you can, but not at the sacrifice of missing a last hit.
    Buy smoke before a gank or a Rosh kill. They are a cheap invaluable tool.
    Verbally tell whomever you are around if you are planning on leaving them or TPing out.
    Experiment with different items when you are fighting different types of heroes.
    I say this last one with caution because it can hinder your ability to play the game normally, but try Turbo when you first start out. It will allow you to learn heroes more quickly.
    Okay, actually this is my last point. Try to have fun. It is just a game.

    Я играл в неё лично. Впечатления незабываемые. Никогда не было так приятно в зоне прямой кишки. Пока играл 15 минут, успел найти себе парня и уйти от него к другому парню с более большим хуком на пуджа. К слову сказать, поиграл я только 15 минут. И больше не возвращался. Эти 15 минут доты 2 сделали мою жизнь прекрасной, превратили её в настоящий рай. Мне больше ничего в жизни не надо,Я играл в неё лично. Впечатления незабываемые.     I actually can't give this game anything less than a 10 considering I've been playing DotA for about 14 years and keep coming back. Yeah, it can be frustrating, and yeah, the community is crap. But when you really strip it down, it really is just a fun game with a lot of depth.

    If you can get past the ladder anxiety and sometimes bad community (that happens when you are playing with 4 random people), the game itself is really deep and rewarding. Even after thousands of hours you have so much to learn and get better at. If you are competitive and can get past the steep learning curve, it's really rewarding.

Como te puedes encontrar a gente cabeza hueca que con una sola Team Fight que salga mal comienzan a escribir GG, se rinden, prenden el microfono para insultar, te encuentras con un Gringo de los odiosos y empiezan **** mexican' 'Taco', Feeders, pickers Techies en Rankeds sin saberlo jugar.

    * Partidas largas de +40 excesivas y estresantes, Tú puedes dominar la partida teninendo un gran control de la lineas wars en el mapa pero si eres support y tienes la mala suerte de que te toquen aliados con cero poder de push o bien no saben el momento adecuado de entrar a base enemiga es un dolor de cabeza llegar high ground tú o tus compañeros empiezan a morir les terminas dando más oro y la ventaja que se tenia en items probablemente se termine perdiendo si el team enemigo se llega a recuperar preparate para que el tiempo se haga infinito.    … Expand

    Dota 2 is very nice game is too balance for skill player only .we have a little problems with cheats but valve ban him .battle pass every year is better and better :D start dota 2 guys is very nice and balance game . No pay2win but cosmetics for those who want them. 10/10

    Plays very different to compared League of legends, but has great character design and a very complex game play. If you get used to the more slower movement it is a great game, that will keep you playing for many hours. Beware, players can be toxic!

    And this dichotomy is perhaps the best descriptor I can attach to Dota 2. It is frequently a game which occupies two opposite spaces simultaneously. It is the best game. It is also the worst game. No game has ever made me as miserable as Dota 2 has. But no game has made me feel so consistently rewarded for my time, and as consistently, wonderfully connected to the friends I play it with.
