    "Probably the deepest and most meaningful pvp experience you can have in an online game. From Hero choices, to lanes and item selections, this game has the possibilities of chess wrapped around a ridiculously skilled rts game.

    Still learning and getting better 3000 hours in."

    That was my 10/10 2013 review. Now game is noting like this, but still best moba imo

    Dota 2 is certainly a very interesting game for it's genre, with the major attraction being that you get pretty much all of the content up-front, free of charge.

    Whilst you may purchase an advantage in earning points for your in-game profile via the use of 'Battle Point Boosters', this cannot be looked at as a form of 'pay to win', as all the points do is increase your level. Increasing    Dota 2 is certainly a very interesting game for it's genre, with the major attraction being that you get pretty much all of the content up-front, free of charge.

    Whilst you may purchase an advantage in earning points for your in-game profile via the use of 'Battle Point Boosters', this cannot be looked at as a form of 'pay to win', as all the points do is increase your level. Increasing your profile level gives you both a random item and the ability to find even rarer items (Not to mention the bragging rights that come with such.), It should be noted that no item in Dota 2 gives you an advantage, or disadvantage during actual game-play. This makes it one of the more worth-while free to play games out there.

    On the other hand, Dota 2 has a very steep learning curve, and some may be turned away from the challenge of learning how to play. The genre of this game itself is a very small one, and this has led to a lot of confused newbies to the game. A tutorial was added into the game to help the player learn, but doesn't necessarily go into enough detail for some.

    To sum it up, Dota 2 is a free to play game that manages to steer clear of the ever-dreaded 'pay to win' issue we quite often come across in other free games. However, the game comes with a very steep learning curve that requires you to really get into the game and learn in your own way through trial and error.

    Dota 2 receives a 6/10 from me. It's not bad for a free to play game, but it's not the shiniest penny out there, either.    … Expand

    Great game but the abandon rules are ridiculous. Just got a 24h ban because i arrived a few seconds after the 5 min limit since my game crashed and didn't restart in time and therefore got an abandon and a loss, even though i returned and won the game.

    completely free to play, all you have to pay for is cosmetics.
    + more than 100 heroes already available
    + really deep game mechanics gives good re-playability even with 1 game mode available. - no ladder or ranking system (its a problem for competitive game IMO) - the commend/report system is more annoying than really helpful - only 1 game mode, all you can change is the hero pick     completely free to play, all you have to pay for is cosmetics.
    + more than 100 heroes already available

If you are to look over the incredibly high skillfloor (new players of the genre may find this game somewhat even stressing at times), you might set yourself up for a game that you might find exciting and rich.

    Lastly, I recommend that you do not listen wholeheartedly to the critics so endorsing Dota 2. You must play the game to see if you really like it, because what they tell you, I -will- completely guarantee you that you will find a rather different experience actually playing the game, whether the experience for you would be exciting, or plain-right stressful.    … Expand

    It's fun for a while, although gets repetitive after a while due to there being only one map. There are MAJOR balance issues, which makes the game utterly irritating to play, not to mention the god-awful "community". All in all though, pretty fun game.

    After playing the first DotA, the transition wasn't too big for me. I've now played 1000 hours and feel that I can write a fair review. I'll keep this short, simply listing the positives and the negatives.

    The Positives:

    Endless of hours of gameplay
    Endless combinations of heroes
    Special game modes for holidays
    Easy to set up games with friends, to play with each other or against other teams
    Beautifully crafted
    Awesome contributions of items from the community

    The Negatives:

    The community. Some people are just real a-holes.
    The matchmaking feels incredibly broken at times. You either demolish the other team or you get demolished. It is rare to get opponents with equal skill level.
    Language barriers: This mostly concerns russians that don't speak a word of english and they don't care what you say if they happen to speak english. I've learned more russian profantiy from this game than I care to admit.
    You can almost count the heroes with "skill shots" (e.g. sacred arrow, hook etc.) on one hand.
    Smurfing. Players that already have hundreds of hours played create new accounts to be matched against newbies. This will ruin games for beginners.
    A ladder is sorely missed for many players. This would enable better match making and for teams that don't play on a professional level some time in the spotlight too.
    Sometimes too much focus on items and customizability than on gameplay and updates of core mechanics.

    As you can see, the majority of the problems that this game suffers from are the community. Valve has taken some steps to solve this (e.g. choosing preferred language in games, choosing lane from character selection), but it rarely gets to the core of it, namely, player stupidity.

    That being said, this game is best played with five friends against other players, or just playing in house games with a larger group of friends. If you play this solo and never played DotA before, get ready to be flamed and discouraged to learn the game. The new coaching feature is for you.    … Expand

    If you enjoy the MOBA style game play, DOTA 2 is for you. Constantly updated and always being reworked in. The game is easy to learn but difficult to get good at/master.

    Dota 2 is definitely a good game although it is not for anyone who is just starting out and definitely I would not recommend it to anyone who is new to the genre.     terrible community, new heroes take forever to release and all that's being released are unnecessary cosmetics, seems to me that valve just cares about making money. On the bright side, it's free to play and has really good gameplay. Certainly the best moba game there is right now.

    I played Dota for a long time, but was frustrated with the heroes who used magic because the damage does not increase with the items (some only). Hard to imagine a mage with items of intelligence becomes stronger in physical damage. For this and other reasons currently playing LoL.

When checking "English" in the language pref's and in the USA servers, you are almost guaranteed to find a lot of non-English speakers with terrible ping.     This is still the best MOBA/Team Brawler out there. Personally I'm ready for a new game to take this genre to the next level but for now DOTA 2 is on top. Also I don't see why so many people say this game isn't for the casual player. I have always found this game extremely fun to just pop in and play a match a few times a day.

But this is just one of those games that needs to really put their foot down, hire a couple dozen game monitors to watch games and ban trolls.... because it feels like you're playing with a bunch of terrorists a lot of times.

    While it is a good multiplayer game in theory, it's actually a sub-par gaming experience in general because of the terrible playerbase and community, horribly flawed matchmaking system, blatant cashgrab events, and overpriced cosmetic market.

    DOTA 2 is a great improvement and standalone successor for its Warcraft III version. Everything is remastered, from graphics to user-friendliness, to bring out your addictive online multiplayer RTS game. Although personally, I haven't been blown away as I have played DOTA 1 for years.

    Plus, it updates and patches way too frequently.

    hardcore game for hardcore players. this is not a play for fun game. you need to give your blood and soul for this game.
    so if you want a casual game stay away or check it out if you have the time you need to invest.

    Servers: many Russians and Peruvians playing on English servers, prepare to be cursed at in new languages.

    Company ignores community player base rather religiously. All players think X should be changed, no response. So and So blatantly cheats and uses hacks, no response. But new items will get added that no 1 needs or wants.

    How so many here can complain about the exact same things as I have and yet give it a 10/10 is beyond me. Goes way beyond fan boys. Maybe company employees writing their own reviews.    … Expand

    I had a blast playing it on the beginning, but approximately since the monkey king and talent tree release I'm not having fun playing it. Community is trash, I feel like any hero can take any position and be successful. Crystal maiden with an attack speed talent on 25 lvl? For what? It is a support hero not a carry. I tried to get back into it but they introduced new item drops from jungleI had a blast playing it on the beginning, but approximately since the monkey king and talent tree release I'm not having fun playing it.     El juego de MOBA por excelencia. Una vez que empiezas a jugar ya no puedes parar. Recomendado 100% pero la experiencia de juego decae cuando vas avanzando en las horas de juego, dada su comunidad toxica te será imposible avanzar jugando solo o acompañado

Гра безкоштовна, але я всерівно донатив на батлпаси, дота плюси, торгову площадку... А ну да, вона мене затянула можливість нафармити речі і продавати їх на площадці. Але це було до 2016го року.     90 рейтинга метаскор ??? ну это уж слишком, в игре очень высокий порог вхождения. Учитывая количество героев вам понадобится часов 200 чтоб хотя бы примерно начать понимать какие у кого способности и как работают герои в целом. Причем обучение в игре практически отсутствует. Тот жалкий туториал от вольво просто смехотворен. По итогу вам надо будет просмотреть тысячу гайдов с ютуба, тк в90 рейтинга метаскор ??? ну это уж слишком, в игре очень высокий порог вхождения. Учитывая количество героев вам понадобится часов 200 чтоб хотя бы примерно начать понимать какие у кого способности и как работают герои в целом. Причем обучение в игре практически отсутствует. Тот жалкий туториал от вольво просто смехотворен. По итогу вам надо будет просмотреть тысячу гайдов с ютуба, тк в самой игре подсказвать никто ничего не будет, отношение внутри комьюнити отвратительное. Причем снг народ несмотря на весь свой токсик порой бывает намного адекватнее каких нибудь турков или поляков.

    Лучшая MOBA на данный момент. Огромное количество персонажей, разные скиллы, предметы в лавке и т.д. Короче, все что нужно настоящей мобе.
    Комьюнити - худшие люди в мире (мб лучше насильников убийц и прочих). За одно неверное движение - репорт, ор в войс и текстовых чатах, нытье. Новичкам проще с ботами играть, так они получат больше удовольствие и впечатления, которые будут приятнее, чем    Лучшая MOBA на данный момент. Огромное количество персонажей, разные скиллы, предметы в лавке и т.д. Короче, все что нужно настоящей мобе.

    Игра как и игра, в своё время назадрил достаточно чтобы понять о чём она и для чего.
    Если вкратце, то это неплохая игра где можно какое-то время получать удовольствие и пофаниться с друзьями. Ну а если подробнее, то эта игра, как и почти любая киберспортивная дриснина в которой обезьяны меряются своим скиллом, со временем превращается в генератор задротов без прошлого и будущего

    I tried to give this game a chance but League of Legends was more appealing to me.
    I remember playing custom WC3 maps tho and yet this game isn't to my liking.

    I hate MOBA, Arts style games. But it's Valve game, so i played it. Very hard game i must admit, like i said it's not my style, graphics is great for this kind of game, many things to learn, also a little bit of boring just like league of legends. But still way better than that kiddo ugly graphics, unbalanced Trash.

От того и странно, что Valve по классике забила на свою популярную игру болт, оставив пару человек на такой огромный онлайн проект, из-за чего приличную часть контента пилят на аутсорсинге, а часть сами игроки. От чего ещё больнее смотреть на игроков, которые постоянно просят какие-либо обновления, а потом ноют из-за любой ерунды. Как в том же патче 7.33 простоЭто не игра... Это жизнь.     Комьюнити этой игры это вообще что-то с чем-то. У меня 2000+ часов в доте, и я много что о ней знаю, но меня всё равно найдут за что заху**осить тиммейты, особенно если я играю на 1-3 позиции. Ведь по их логике, в игре с системой 50% - ты должен постоянно выигрывать свой лайн, иначе ты долб**б, который вообще дышать не должен. Просто что-то с чем-то, а не игра.    … Expand

    Mechanically speaking, this game is a 10. The community however, is a 0. Absolutely the most toxic people I have ever encountered. It eventually turns you toxic to survive/continue playing. Honestly wish I would have never played.

    I've got a solid couple thousand hours, here's what I would say after watching the game over the last decade or so.

    Visuals: Game looks great and performs great, even today its visuals are actually pretty rock solid! Sound: Music is fantastic, sound effects are also spot on! Voiced characters sound great.     Gameplay: If you can put in the time, and have enough friends to play with, this can be one of the greatest gaming experiences available! The downside, it takes an immense amount of time to know whats going on and the characters, even after hundreds of hours its a constant stream of learning and adapting. Even if you get to know all the characters the game changes and gets updated all the time, so its hard if you're not current. Overall some good and bad here, one they have a dev that looks out after the game. But some might say they've made way too many changes and maybe have focused too much on a massive hero pool. It's definitely one of the more daunting games to get into if you're new. If you are competitive and like team-based strategy that requires communication this is elite. Again, some of the best possible gaming experience you can have here.

    Buttttttt...... also some of the worst, as it goes with MOBAS, the community is toxic. People get frustrated, specially if you're new. A game can take from 30-60 minutes id say 45 is pretty typical, so people get mad. You can mute all you want but the game is not the same without a team and comms. It's best if you got a 5 stack of friends to play with.

    While it does have some great moments, it also is bogged down by a toxic community and wildly steep learning curve.    … Expand

    And this dichotomy is perhaps the best descriptor I can attach to Dota 2. It is frequently a game which occupies two opposite spaces simultaneously. It is the best game. It is also the worst game. No game has ever made me as miserable as Dota 2 has. But no game has made me feel so consistently rewarded for my time, and as consistently, wonderfully connected to the friends I play it with.
