The game in a whole is great for any seasoned VR gamer and new VR gamers as well. I gave my wife a spin at the game and even though she doesn’t game much, she had a blast with it. The creators really did a good job in the creation of this game and even though I am not up to date with everything involving Doctor Who, I think it is a good tribute to the growing audience the series has.

Who is at its best when there’s a hook; a gimmick so playful and innovative that anyone can get carried away in the madness that ensues. Instead of testing those waters, The Edge of Time settles for bringing the series’ most tried and true elements directly into headsets in hopes of winning over dedicated fans. It plays more like a rejected episode of the TV series rather than something that fully embraces its platform. The Who faithful be satisfied in that safety, I suspect, but I personally can’t help but wish this was a little more dangerous.

There was so much potential for Doctor Who: The Edge of Time as well as expectation that the end result feels muted. Parts of the experience are great and showcase high production values – the storyline, locations and acting for instance. Interspersed with these are the negatives which make it hard to recommend to the casual gamer. Doctor Who: The Edge of Time is one for the hardcore fans out there.

I like Doctor Who a lot. As a TV show it's got all the best things about good entertainment and genuinely has some incredible storylines and messages. Doctor Who: The Edge of Time is not one of them though. Between sluggish movement and dull puzzles, I think it's enough to say that even Jodie Whittaker can't save this game.

They took the only interesting aspect of The Edge Of Time which was the VR experience and tossed it out the window for a game aiming to be console friendly. The controls are clunky, and for those who want to change them in the settings, you can only change the aspect ratio, gama, and v-sync. The idea to launch a game with the released less than bare-bones settings is downright unbelievable.

While it's nice to see some new content in the game, it's overshadowed by just how uninteresting it is with a game that seems to have been put together by 3 students as their final project in a game development class. The Doctor Who Adventure Games of old as well as Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock run so many circles around this game that it almost reverses time itself to an age where we actually had real talent and passion baked into games set in the Whoniverse. You know how bad the game has to be when not even the great David Tennant can save the story or experience. It's like having the worst meal of your life with an old friend, you're happy to see them, but hate that it had to happen like this.

It's safe to say that if you are looking for a good Doctor Who video game to sink your teeth into, you better get back to looking. Because The Edge Of Reality is most definitely NOT what the Doctor has ordered.
