After playing the game for the first time, I played as if I was possessed by something for two hours
I ended up with 140 hours of play time and watching the ending

Dont remeber much except there was some investigation and fantasy dimension (dont like it). I hope DOS2 or BG3 are much better games with more open world tasks. Here World behind is useless and empty - cleaned from monsters. Realtime with pause was good essence of BG2. But this turn based system is better than X-Com. Moving many characters at once is with each concept little bad. I would like more if i'll control one character and rest would be AI which i could send command or design some situation plan. Expand

The second disadvantage is that it becomes quite boring in the end. I thing it is mainly caused by tactics system.

So, i think that DOS is a good game, and deserves 8/10. I can recommend this game to anybody, wgo likes RPGs, CRPGs or love good games.

Longer: What "Divinity: Original Sin" does very well is the combat system. Levelling up is slow and you rarely gain any new skill - and this was a great decision. After a while you perfectly understand every action you may take, its pros and cons. I played the whole game with my wife in a couch coop way and it was a great way to experience this game.
However, I was expecting more from an RPG when it comes to plot and atmosphere. When playing it, I felt like I was playing a hack&slash game with turn-based combat. The atmosphere is dull, generic and the dialogs are poorly written. We either skipped through them or was bored by them. The silly tone both in visuals and in dialogues was more annoying than entertaining.
We also hated the music that was so much anti-climatic. Especially that you have to listen to it over and over again during many many fights.
The quests were designed in clever way, presenting many ways of solving them, using the game elemental interactions. But beware the riddles. I usually love riddles in the games, but most of them in this game, are based on finding a correct object that you don't know that you are looking for.
Overall, it is a good game, but based on reviews I was expecting more. I was constantly comparing it to Pillars of Eternity, which I liked much more. If you want a good gameplay mechanics I encourage you to play "Divinity: Original Sin". But if you are looking for a good RPG, keep away from it.

I have not finished the game yet, because it is an immense and challenging game, but honestly I think I will not going to finish it for now, at least on this classic version of the game. Little more than 20 hours of playtrough in the classic version I think I have a good feeling of what the classic version have to offer and going to do the same with the enchanted...

But back to the game, it is simply incredible. Visually, mechanically. A pure role playing game experience, where the roots of the genre were transposed to the maximum.
Fighting for me is the most interesting and challenging element and it is necessary to use the head and the elements that surround us against the enemy.

It is a game of elements where fire, earth, water and air annihilate each other in a perfect circle. Its a game where an "area of effect spell" reaches not only the enemy but the ally in that area. And it's so perfectly done every single way, every moment on every fight.

Those small details are also huge and make this game unique. For me it is a masterpiece of the genre, that I strongly recommend.

This game is huge, but only because it is tedius. You will go pixel hunting like a mad man for no reason. It is filled with containers that have nothing inside. It has plenty of mechanics and stats to master but once you finally understand the system it lacks serious depth. The turn based combat is slow, boring, and has no reason to be turn based. The story is meh. The dialogs are cringe-worthy. Decent graphics and voice acting, and after patches is at a very good shape, but this is not enough.

It will demand a lot of time and patience from you, but it won't satisfy you. It doesn't really deliver as an RPG. Those who compare this to the classics like Baldur's gate, are out of their minds and i am fairly certain they have never played it.

I suppose if you like co-op with a friend, it could be worth it. As a single player experience, just replay BG again.

Deserves around a 6, giving it a 1 to counterbalance the overinflated scores.

Besides the main story line itself is too short but you have to player hours and hours until yours eyes bleed to get a single step on.

Examples of good RPG in fantasy setting that has very good and immersive story and rightly paced: Neverwinter Nights 2, Witcher 2 and 3 etc.

Examples of insufferable bad storylined games that are slow paced and relies on annoying side quests instead of their short main quests: This **** Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Skyrim etc.

These source hunters are out to solve a town murder, but while solving this murder they’re sent down a path and realize they need to solve something much larger than this.
Before you play this game, you need to be self-aware with the kind of gamer you, because while this game is fairly new, the way it’s delivered isn’t.
    Don’t expect a top down Skyrim…
I was reminded many times of Pokémon, in the sense that every city you go to has its own story that still connects to the main story.., you set out on a journey and that’s it, you’re on your own, see you later or never, the game doesn’t care.
It will not hold your hand, other than marking the occasional few important places on your map for you to go check out
This is a 60 hour journey that you’ll need to figure your way through.
And the only way to do this is to listen to the conversations…
At first this doesn’t seem like too much to ask, but every character you run into talks longer than your mom does when she bumps into somebody she knows at a grocery store,
I’m almost certain 15 of the 60 hours was spent sitting through dialog..
You can skip through any and all, but this isn’t advised as again, it’s the only way you’re going to figure out where to go to next,
you have to literally immerse yourself into the game world to beat it... you have become your character…
That being said, if you don’t have the time or patience to literally almost live another life you’re not going to like this game….
Sure you can follow a guide, but who wants to do that for 60 hours?
Otherwise, you’ll find this game to be quite the masterpiece
You’re solving mysteries and puzzles, there are side quests that can help with main quests, tons of npcs to interacts and trade with, and you want to talk to every npc, helps them, get on their good side and sometimes be able to bring them along your journey..
Their help is much welcomed because outside the city walls the wilderness if full of enemies ready to kill you
Beyond the problem solving that’s going on, there is a turn based combat system here…
This fighting system is very simple to understand with tons of skills and spells to learn based on your characters skills that you get to freely choose as you level up...
You could easily turn a brute to a witch and vice versa….
Through shops, chests, and bookshelves, you’ll find tons of skill books to teach your characters new moves for battles…
You have your basic elemental attacks which come in handy since enemies do usually have a weakness, and the environment is completely interactive…
You can catch things on fire, blow them up, throw poison grenades, it’s all fair game...
My favorite though is the ability to summon creatures to help you…
By the end all 4 of my characters could summon at least 1 creature, while only 1 of the 4 were a witch…
You aren’t forced to stick to certain skills based on your characters stats... there is an insane amount of freedom here…
Still, it took me a little over halfway through the game to get my team so stacked... so for the first half I had to rely a lot on scroll, which can be used to regenerate a fallen member, summoned creatures, or do elemental attacks…
I did however feel that I was a little too over powered in the last 40% of the game…
I hardly had to think during battles..
It seems as though I’ve figure out the best strategy and it failed maybe 2 times onward…
but even the final bosses were a breeze…
This made the final few maps feel like a drag, and you kinda get to see just how repetitive the game real is…
Still the first half of the game can be insanely challenging at times….
some bosses 1 hit killing your entire team, having to force you to approach their rooms differently so all of your member don’t take the damage…
Luckily you can find some epic loot to help with elemental damage, give you some stat boosts, and if all else fails, there is a quick save feature to let you retry as many times as you’d like, or leave, stock up and come back…
The journey to the credits though is well worth it..
Especially since your characters feel so real to you
They will interrupt when they disagree with your dialog choices, causing you to have to rock paper scissors your way through a decision and this really an extra layer to the immersion..
OF course even better if this other person is sitting on the couch with you, as this game does support split screen coop as well
Despite feeling more like a puzzle game for the final half, Original Sin is one of the best RPGs in a long time.
But if you aren’t willing to put in the time and effort this game demands,
    I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it
I give Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition
    a 8.5/10

The game revolves around dual protagonists with one optional companion each, so a group of 2 - 4. The RPG system is kinda new but easily recognizable by seasoned veterans of the genre. There's a lot of fun to be had with the way elements interact and a lot of interesting choices to be made in the levelling system. Mastering the game takes thought and experience but playing the game is easy and intuitive in itself.

The story is fun, nothing THAT special narratively, but the true quality is in the telling. Humorous, colourful, varied and sometimes outright dark, it comes together nicely in the end. Lots of little details to explore and combat is very rarely repetitive. It revolves a lot around the four elements and how they interact mixed with some crowd-controlling abilities, buffs and debuffs from other lines (do NOT ignore these if you play on a difficult setting!). The only problem I encountered was that I often mess around with different classes and ideas on a difficult setting while I learn the game mechanics well enough to create my exact party concept. In this game, there is a bit of a lull early on in the game with a lot of story-driven gameplay which can be a bit tedious to replay seven times before you get the party balance right. Apart from that, this game is just quite simply excellent. If you're into RPG games at all, you should definitely check out this title.

The world is big. And the surroundings are filled with color, life and activity. And when there isn't supposed to be that much life and activity around, there isn't! Enemies are varied throughout the game and battles are often tactical and pretty enjoyable most times. I absolutely love the fact that it's turn-based. I've always loved turn based games like the good old Heroes of Might and Magic games, the Might and Magic games (both from 3DO), Fallout 1 and 2, Wasteland 2, Civilization games, Lords of Magic, Wizardry 8 and even Etherlords games.

So understandably, I liked this game a lot. There's a lot you can do, side quests and main quests and general exploring. There are some secrets too and I really like the fact that your two characters can converse with each other.

It's also really fun to play with a friend, your friend controlling one character and you the other.

Overall, I really recommend this game for any RPG fanatic, and if you like turn-based games, even better.

Character creation time. A very exciting step in an RPG for sure, and usually a long one. Here, we start with a surprising surprise: we create 2 characters. Hmm... I'm a bit confused. I like talking at the singular 1st person about myself, and my avatar. That's what happens when a player feels invested in a game, and that's a plus for said game. So, will I have to use the plural, like the famous British tapeworm, Queen Victoria ? We want to be amused, and we are all for experiments, even doomed ones, so we keep going.

Characters creation was actually very quick, and very underwhelming. A few skills, some of them opening a talent pseudo-menu (pseudo because it offers actually no choices,) and we are done. Also, there are only 2 races: male and female. Err... I meant... only 2 species: bodybuilder and barbie doll. Anyway, you get our meaning. I mean, my meaning.

I both hop on a beach (confusing, isn't it ?) It's a pretty 3d world, not gorgeous like these 2d painted games, but it will do nicely. Someone is talking near the west edge, but stays invisible. These long range constant chatters will prove very annoying in the future, specially in town. They'll make you want to go away instead of doing what you plan on doing.

And then, the pixel hunting starts. Pixel hunting is the meat of this game. In the following hours, I will have hovered over, then opened, hundreds of crates and vases. Most of them empty, yet my dreadfully cumbersome inventory screen will look like a huge pile of junk. And that will be enough for me to quit and have no desire to come back. I feel like I've been playing a hack n' slash without the hack. And, mostly, pixel hunting. In 2015.

Sure, a few nice things happened in the mean time: playing mostly a thief, I discovered an amusing take on the sneaking trope, and a challenging and interesting pickpocket mechanism. I got involved in a couple of fights, and backstabbing proved satisfying at this early stage. Using magic scrolls also proved very helpful, unlike in any other game (I usually can't be bothered, but here it felt natural.) And that's about it.

It's an RPG, so there are dialogues and interactions and story lines and stuff, but one word is enough to summarise them: childish.

After the disappointing PoE, I let myself be influenced by the reviews here. Now I will avoid kickstarted games like the plague, since backers suffer from a very peculiar mental block that renders them unreliable.

Despite the flaws, it's awesome game. It seems Larian tries to back to the golden era of RPGs, recreate what made RPGs great - looking at Planescape Torment, Fallout and Baldurs Gate, instead of following First Person Sword-Swingers trend which spawned from... Diablo. Thanks to this gem, I'm actually able to enjoy playing games again.

Good old-fashioned isometric RPG. So it should look like a true RPG - the sea and freedom of choice, you can make your character anyone. A game with a friend to add a lot of fun.

Elemental effects in the environment figure prominently, and are of utmost tactical importance. Rain, water, oil, fire, heat, cold, poison, clouds, lightning -- they are present in spells, in arrows, in weapons, in the environment. A lot of thought went into the elements of combat and it makes for a stimulating and satisfying experience.

Hit your fire elemental enemies with a rain storm, which weakens them. Now that they're wet and weak and unlikely to set your own comrades ablaze, move in and follow up with freezing spells to take them out of the action for a couple of turns. It's a lot of fun figuring out the best way to turn the environment against your enemies.

The character system is part WoW and part Fallout. You get character attributes, abilities, and talents. Everyone is familiar with character attributes. Abilities are skills that you may level, like talents in WoW. Abilities can be leveled up to 5. Talents are like traits or single-rank perks in Fallout. You either have a talent or you don't -- there are no levels. It's a fair and engaging system with plenty of room for refinement.

There are a few things about the game that get on my nerves, though. I'm early in and the story seems a tad weird, even for a fantasy game. The map could use some love. Inventory management and crafting are inferior to WoW, although I admit they are better than Skyrim (but not by much). I also think the game should always auto-save prior to entering combat. Despite these drawbacks, I'm still giving the game at 10 because combat, magic, weapons, and environment are so well done. Also, the game is stable and not buggy. It's almost sad that I have to include that.

If you love RPGs, get this game. You won't regret it, especially if you've been disappointed by the current trends in RPGs with boring combat systems (I'm talking about you, Diablo III!)

And when you leave the starting town, it is either empty or full of higher level enemies who kill you quickly. Space is way too slow. Levelling up is weird, the game will not let you increase certain stats

Probably the best RPG of 2014. Absolutely fantastic game, scenario, maps, theme, music etc. The only con is that since it was crowd funded, the cinematics were just animations of images. Definitely worth playing. Tons of content, twist of scenario, many paths to follow in the conversations. This game is a MUST PLAY.

The town, with its sizable harbor, apparently lacked a navy of sorts, which left it at the mercy of the orcish incursions. Well, not quite, for it did have an army called the legion, which would also have failed to defeat the orcs if it hadn't been for some magical crossbows the local hedge wizard had put together.

We didn't really mind to disembark as Jack seemed a bit too much like a pirate with his eyepatch, wooden leg and speech spiced with harrs and yarrs. In fact we were certain he was one as he knew the situation in Cyseal all too well.Since pirates prey on local shipping by hiding out in coastal waters, it stands to reason that they are perfectly aware of the comings and goings of ships and people in that harbor and the associated opportunities and dangers. Anyway, he was crash enough to tell us about the plight of the town only when we were about to reach it and proposed ditching us on a beach as if he was offering us a way out. We suspected that the only other option would have been walking the plank.

We were source hunters. Source was a thing that sourcerers used to power whatever needs powering. Actually we forgot the last part as we were stuck thinking about sourcerers/sorcerers thing. Somewhere a guy behind a screen in a universe far away thought this brilliant or hilarious and he was even able to convince some other guys in other rooms of that fact. It is indie and therefore it is excusable we were informed.

Somewhat further inland we ran into a dead guy. The note on his corpse informed us that some statues convinced him that he could fly. Apparently he took some time to write this down, either before or during his leap of faith. We suspected foul play as it was far more likely that he was killed and then the perpetrator took time to cover this up by planting this note on him. It is that level of (N)CIS writing we are talking about. We found out later that nothing of the sort happened; he actually did write the note(!). But at that point we actually didn't really care one way or another as we were not the law in those parts, in fact we soon found out.. nobody was.

After an encounter with a poetic shell(the only highlight) and some undead summoned by some guy which we dealt with by summoning stuff of our own, we encountered two drunk soldiers, then ran into a group of orcs headed by a mysterious man, which would have made mincemeat of us if three sober soldiers had not taken care of them for us.

Finally we reached the town Cyseal which was noteworthy because of three things. The first were the dozens, nay hundreds, of barrels, chests, caskets, baskets filled with random content running from nothing to incredible powerful, if you happen to require stats improvements for two stats that are diametrically opposed. The second thing were quests that started someplace, continued at another place, without being clear how to go for one place to the other, and then earned you a trifle experience if you finished them. The last was that exiting the town on the other side too soon resulted in instant death as you need at least one or two levels and be equipped with some good stuff to beat even the three undead lurking on the outskirts. And once we did have that we found out that our gear deteriorated at such a rapid pace that we had to repair our gear every second battle.

Furthermore we ran into an imp called ZixZax who was the historian of all events in time, which was really funny, if we had been eight perhaps, a morai who had migrated out of the Greek legends(or a norn out of the Norse mythology) and dozens of more stuff stolen from history, mythology and stories that hailmark this game as superior uninspired as it comes to storytelling, which would not even be so bad if it just had added something original to it, like a twist instead of a silly play of words.
At this point we gave up and went to read a book or watch a movie or redo tombraider.

Original Sin is a LRPG. A looting role play game which is the wet dream for anyone who wants a nickname that spells micromanagement. You get to loot and loot some more and do that save-before-opening-the-random-chest-and-reload-if-it-doesn't-give-you-anything-worthwhile thing. The loot only marginally improves you scores as does the leveling. The whole thing is aimed at having you spend most of you time on deciding things like: should I use this dexterity +1 and strength +1 / + 10 % poison resistant sword or this speed +1 and intelligence +1 club with double durability? Only to find out weapons either break two battles later or have become worthless after you progress one or two levels. But if you do not micromanage: prepare to die. A lot.

Apparently.. this is what what the people who kickstarted this game wanted.
    Have fun guys!

I really like this game so far (played apprx 10 hours), but there are some things that i miss for a really high score:
    - plot/story ... starts good, but loosing pace and difficult to follow since your journal only gives you a general hint where to look for your next objective. Because there are no questmarkers, there should be more detail in your journal, or you´ll spend hours and hours roaming the same part of the map searching for your next clue
    - visuals ... very good looking, but way to bright. I´d prefer a little darker/realistic visuals, not this cartoon like world. I think with the core engine, that should be possible, and there are already mods that lower the saturation etc. Characters look like toons, that´s an immersion breaker for me.

I see a lot of misplaced nostalgia actually, and the game takes advantage of timing, for it was released before pillars of eternity (aka baldurs gate 3) and got to the gamers before, but in comparison is lacking depth.

Why I'm mentioning pillars of eternity? they're very similar, yet they have substantial differences, but for the purpose of comparison, here it goes:

Pillars of eternity vs Divinity: OS:

    Graphics: DOS
PoE: 9/10, DOS 10/10. They're similar and both are isometric looking, and although the art itself is inferior in Divinity, the world seems more interactive than Pillars, hence, this one goes to Divinity.

    Sound: Draw
You'll feel very inmersed in combat/adventure with both of them which is fricking important for any decent gamer out there!

    Story: PoE
PoE (8/10), DOS (5/10). This is where Divinity takes a MAYOR hit in the nuts. You get a linear experience through the game, with a couple of boring missions/side quests (with the "do them in perfect order or you will get punished" mechanic), with boring characters and dull storytelling. At least it's not dumb, but it's very "basic", basically :). PoE is totally interesting and storytelling is wonderful, but the only real interactions you'll have will be with your preset partners (more on that later), in the end it also suffers from some characterisation to make it more vivid.

    Rpg elements: PoE
    PoE (10/10), DOS (9/10)
Very close to each other. The thing is that PoE gets creative in the way you get experience, while DOS gets stingy with exp to make you suffer more every battle, which in the ends slows down gameplay. In terms of character customization both are very deep, but once again PoE takes it further because of how many different characteristics and combinations are posible.

    Combat: DOS
    PoE (7/10) DOS (9/10)
PoE is good, but magic is way to basic to even count. It all goes down to cutting, blunting and piercing. Magics cost way too much to be enjoyable. DOS not only makes magic users powerful (they actually are overpowered, that's why it get's a 9... balance, people!) but also makes environment critical. From a tactical point, it's refreshing to see your mage not only putting a zombie on fire, but litting 30 mts around it on flames from a poison cloud explosion! talk about special effects! but is not only eye candy, it can seriously turn the battle one side or the other. Definitely a worthy mechanic to keep for the future, game designers!

    Adventure: PoE
    PoE (9/10) , DOS (5/10)
Interaction, exploring, sneaking, and triggered events are overall better done in PoE. You will feel excited while exploring a new area and also thrilled with excitement, while in DOS you will be desperate to finish it or get in a fight soon to avoid dying of the boring monotony.

    Interfase: PoE
PoE (7/10), DOS (5/10). More polished basically, also everything is easier to understand. You can check the monsters you have slain in your enciclopedia to develop better strategies next time you face them... you even have your own notepad for personal notes. DOS is very lacky in this department.

    *Items: DOS
POE (5/10), DOS (7/10), Both are waaay to simple, but POE is just lazy. Fine, exceptional and elite (or somethingl like that) and some elemental properties and another minuscule crap... and that's it?! wtf?!. At least in DOS you have some variety... but just some... not that much to be noteworthy (at least not in comparison to dragon age and full plated dragon armors and that sort of badass gear we ALL want in our team)

In the end it goes like: awesome fights, and more eye candy effects, plus better loot... go DOS
very good (not awesome) fights, darker deeper story, adventure thrill, hardcore rpg gaming, ... go POE.

To me POE wins actually, but it's your call. Hope it helps... phew, that was a lot!

To begin with, the game is almost completely directionless. The first town you encounter, you are going to run into tons of quests, all of them wanting you to do all sorts of other things, help them out, whatever. That might not be such a terrible thing, but Divinity handles their quest systems awfully.

To begin with, there is almost nothing to be said for it's quest tracking. The only thing the game does do is keep track of dialog you've have with other NPCs, as well as tracking things you've already done in the quest line. Besides that, be prepared to wade through thousands of lines of text, as well as randomly walking around the game world, hoping you run into what you need to complete the next quest.

As if this weren't bad enough, Divinity has a poor sense of overall direction and this also makes completing the quests in Divinity all the more difficult. While some quests can be completed with ease, others, that are assigned to you at the very beginning of the game are impossible to complete until you've leveled up. I don't see the point in assigning quests to players that they can't reasonably complete until hours or days later into the game. All it does, it clutter up the awful quest tracker they already have and confuses players even more.

Along with that, it's impossible to know if you should be in a specific zone or not. It's entirely too easy for players to accidentally wander into zones that are double or triple your level. It's almost always a death sentence and can help lead to a massive amount of frustration on the player's part.

Besides the broken story, awful quest tracking, complete lack of direction in almost all ways and terrible design choices made by the developers, there's another issue I haven't addressed yet. The game is advertised to have co-op game mechanics in the game. I don't consider it a true co-op experience. Instead of allowing players to play their own games and then dropping into a friend's game, with their own character, players are forced to take on the role of someone else's character.

This way is an awful choice because players are going to find themselves stuck in characters they didn't want, with builds they didn't want, being forced to play the game in a style they may not enjoy or are comfortable with.

I wanted to like this game, but I can't.

I wish I could play this game as I spent a fair amount of money on it but I simply can't as the developers refuse to fix the key re-binding bugs that's been present in the game since it was released. Its a slap in the face to all of us lefties.

I really wanted to get into the game and I was incredibly patient from the very beginning. I enjoyed the old-school RPG aesthetic and D:OS had the potential to be very deep and incredibly rewarding. But after about 50 hours in, trying to decipher the game's absurd approach to questing without relying on external guides, I decided that it was no longer worth my time.

I'm not asking to be lead around by a pointer arrow, what I am asking for is more meat and less 'busy-work'. The game is exactly that: busy work. Fights take a long time, quests take a long time. This would normally be a good thing if you're looking to get value out of your dollar, but things take a long time for the wrong reasons.

At first I was for the idea of 'open-ended' quest lines. The problem is that some are rife with so many red-herrings, unless you know they ARE red herrings, you could try in vain to follow a clue, sweeping areas clean, looking for items, chatting with useless NPCs, and so on, only to find out that you haven't moved an inch in the quest line. No, there is only ONE solution, and it's OUR solution. Everything that you wasted your time doing means nothing.

But even if you forgive Original Sin's approach to questing, there's still a whole lot of ugly to sift through. For one, the story is not very engaging and does a poor job of drawing the player into the game's universe. This could be due to poor translation or needing to play the other games in the series but the dialogue seemed very hollow and uninspired. This is compounded by NPCs in your party who feel the need to randomly talk to you when a chat bubble pops over their head. They never have anything relevant to say and it does little to flesh out their character.

This awkwardness also extends to your 'partner'. While it's a cool idea for co-op, there is little incentive for a solo player to roleplay more than one character. Your options are to either agree or disagree with your partners point of view. Regardless of what you choose to do, this has next-to-no tangible influence on the plot whatsoever. It was weird to experience and felt like more busy work.

The rock-paper-scissors mechanic, while interesting for making choices, is also inherently flawed. The algorithm is rather predictable and players will likely just reload a quicksave if they desire a certain outcome anyway.

It's a damn shame because the game engine is truly remarkable. While there are some nags to be sure, such as performance optimization and an awkward camera, the fact that it can theoretically allow for turn-based and real-time actions to occur within a single session is pretty interesting. This is also pretty interesting if you decide to play co-op online. I'm sure that a dedicated modding community could adopt the engine for their own and create a decent game for it.

Until then, unless you don't mind reading guides online and throwing away hours of your time on a finely crafted shell of an RPG experience, do yourself a favor and sink your time into Fallout 1+2, Baulder's Gate 1+2 and Icewind Dale. The graphics may not be as pretty but the experience is rich and quests are possible to finish if you follow the game's internal logic.

... but while the game is technically great, it's also riddled with poor design decisions:

    - skill book distribution is random, so it's possible that you will not be able to get the skills you like. some skills are bugged and don't drop and are not sold at all. they never bothered to fix this. incredibly lazy job
    - no rest option and no health regeneration. crafting food or teleporting to town breaks the fluidity of the game and drags out the play time unnecessarilly, especially at the start of the game, when you don't have good healing skills
    - the trait system is ridiculous. You get negative traits for not helping slavers and murderers, for example... yeah. Someone didn't really think that through.
    - everything about the crafting system is terrible. I would need more than 5000 characters to describe all the things that are wrong with it
    - the inventory could be better: item stacking, containers (different colors), better sorting. also, the vendor screen has a different sorting than the normal inventory. managing items is a chore
    - quest items don't disappear when quests are done. there are so many quest items that the inventory is a mess
    - weapons break too fast. it's ok when using them to destroy chests, but they should last longer in combat. I've had fully repaired weapons break from one fight. Seriously, what the ****
    - no day/night cycle. i understand the reason for this (it's a lot of work to implement), but it's a very important feature that really adds to the atmosphere and immersion.
    - the game is very linear in that you always have to find the area with monsters you can actually defeat. your level pretty much dictates what to do next, because the penalties when fighting higher level enemies are over the top
    - the riddles in D:OS, if you can even call them that, almost entirely consist of finding an item hidden in a room and clicking on it. very boring and a waste of time
    - characters feel mostly bland with a few exceptions
    - some armor items have stupid colors (light green?) and there are no dyes to fix it

The fact that I still give 7/10 despite all this criticism shows how great this game could have been. Now there's hoping that there will be good mods.

There is no one asking for your help, there is no "quest acquired" or exclamation popping up. but the game showed you one way to put fires out a couple of minutes ago and you still have a rain scroll.
That moment when you cast the spell without being ordered to do so, get XP and thanks by the NPCs after the fact, just because a game allowed you to use you're brain for a minute is just priceless.
Divinity is full of those moments. It doesn't hold your hand, because it doesn't need to. There is fundamental logic everywhere.

It has party and turn-based combat at its core with at first glance typical melee, ranged, buff, nerf, magic systems. The are certain nuances to it though that make it simply great, mainly a dynamic combat enviroment based on elemental effects. Just to give you an idea: cast a lightning bolt, deal damage and have a bit of a chance to stun the target. but why not cast a rain storm first, create a puddle in its center and then cast the lightning spell. just throw the hair dryer into the tub. and when you tired of that, cast ice shards and freeze the puddle, rendering enemies and allies unlikely to move across it.

the game, not just combat, is filled with these situations where simple mechanics can create many different ways to complete your task.

Interestingly, the game has two main characters, who regularly are in dialogue with each other. This concept is primarily aimed at co-op but you still get the opportunity to have two opinions on one subject. That isn't astonishing or anything like that but just a nice change to the usual rpg dialogue.

Graphics might be to bright for some but it fits the character of the world. It is a bit wacky and not as dark. But the level of detail has a nice, high balance regarding models, environment and effects. so it is always looks like a coherent picture from the games iso perspective.

The only thing that I didn't like is the actual style of dialogue. What I love about it in Baldurs Gate for example is that NPCs get character already by how they talk. You can clearly tell a peasant from priest or mage. The dialogue in D:OS is always very picturesque. Even the smallest events are described with a illustration or two and it sometimes just feels out of place and/or tiring.

But, if you like RGPs, especially AD&D or Dragon Age Origins you have to give this one a go. Maybe not the easiest start in the genre but a must have for every fan of it.

The inventory system is painful, especially when you are trying to sell items through vendors. Tons of reading pointless narrative, you have to read two or 3 paragraphs of crap just to get the to lines of information you want. I would usually end up skipping through the crap and then reading my journal to figure out what if anything was important. Weapons have crap durability. NOT open World because monster only a few levels above your characters will whoop you butt. So you have to go around the world looking for the one spot where the monsters are weak in order to level up you team. Only 4 characters allowed in you party at one time. Picking up loot is a pain. Loot usually sucks. Dork humor that doesn't fit. Limited conversation options. Requires micromanagement of your entire party at all times. You have to buy overpriced lockpicks and trap disarming tools constantly. Just because this game isn't by a big publisher doesn't mean they should get away with this crap. Just starting out you are completely overwhelmed. There isn't any strategy that will work in most of the starter encounters, It is shear luck of the die (literally) as to whether you win or not. Let's take a look at the 90+% of the encounters I have had just around the first city.
    1) You are outnumbered 2-3 to 1
    2) Every enemy is at least 1 level higher than you
    3) You get 2 atks every other round and everybody else gets 2 or 3 atks per round
    4) You might do 15-30 dmg per hit because of the ludicrous absorptions/immunities enemies have but enemies get 20-30 dmg every hit (multiplied by the # of atks)
    5) Encounters start out at range so your melee has to move in (which means they generally cannot atk the first 1 or 2 rounds) but even your ranged ppl have to move in, yet every enemy never has to move and can hit you from anywhere on the field
    6) Every encounter has a spellcaster who almost always freezes or stuns your melee ppl in the first 1 or 2 hits and the effect lasts 3+ rounds
    7) Most enemies cast heal on themselves every round in addition to 1-2 atks whereas you can either heal or atk, but not both
    8) Heal effects are useless since you cannot heal even half of what enemies do dmg wise each round

Beyond the horribly unbalanced encounters most of the equipment you get is worthless making upgrading (and repairing) a beating. Leveling up should be a time to optimize your characters but you get so little for upgrading you never feel more powerful. There simply isn't enough reward for leveling up compared to the # of skills and amount of effort involved to level them.

On the dialogue side it seems like a good idea to have inter-party discussions but every time I make a decision that I want somebody in the party disagrees and I have to play the stupid RPS game. I'M IN CHARGE OF MY PARTY!!!! It is an RPG for a reason. I get to decide how to respond. I shouldn't have to argue with the computer to get my way. It would have been simple enough to let other chars share their opinion and perhaps I gain or lose reputation with them but ultimately I should get to decide the response, not the program.

Larian has tried to replicate the old Gold box games but has horribly missed the mark. I'll go back to the old school games when I want that experience. This game isn't it.

Instead of a major plot line kept flowing in a linear fashion with minor sidequests, it follows multiple interlinked paths of a major plotline which must be done in precisely the order the devs wanted (which you have no idea in advance).

Eg 1 : To enter a wizard's house guarded by a barrier, you need object A to active portal (which you don't know you need). You get it from person X (which you don't know they have unless you kill & loot their body breaking the plot) as person X merely says "you need to provide proof you're friendly with person Y" without telling you they will give object A in return for the unspecified item of proof you need, which you don't have anyway & don't know you need because you've played areas in the "wrong" order even though they were the "right" order in how you traveled across maps.

Eg 2 : You have to talk to animal X (who only appears once) to get a quest but you accidentally initiate conversation with character who doesn't have Pet Pal talent, so you exit conversation and try to reinitiate with char who does have it, but animal X has now disappeared for good.

This isn't an "old school" intellectual challenge, it's simply "fake open world" linearity & quest bugs dressed as something else. It's actually far better to have a Neverwinter Nights style progression where the main plot is split into linear chapters and kept flowing at a pace that maintains interest across 60hrs whilst simultaneously giving the player full freedom of travel & sidequests within each chapter than this confusing frustration-fest of endless main plot dead-ends & illusory "open-ness". The journal / quest NPC's are sorely lacking in any meaningful quest data so you end up first losing track & later on losing interest out of "slow boredom". I've been gaming for 25 years and a lot of what gets called "hardcore old-school" out of confused nostalgia actually isn't. In DOS, you can easily play 4-days of 3x hours a day sessions & feel like you haven't made any progress at all which wasn't the case with "PC golden era" RPG's.

It's sad because the GFX, soundtrack are fine, the turn based combat works mostly well, the difficulty is refreshing, etc. But there are so many annoyances that spoil it. Some sidequests are area limited & fail without warning if you stray too far. The game is riddled with "progression bugs", ie, you'll regularly get a "mid-quest" comment about a plot you haven't even started yet that makes absolutely no sense (which is precisely why some "protection" for quest items / locations makes sense & isn't considered "dumbing down"). The puzzles are nonsensical and often involve either tedious pixel hunting for tiny 5-pixel size switches, sticking barrels over poison vents or "rock-paper-scissors".

Other problems : ambient NPC dialogue is repeated every 20s, crashes 4-6 times per day, enemies dance about during your combat turn which combined with a small "hitbox" means you'll often inadvertently order your ranged character to waste their AP's running behind the enemy instead of attacking them. You can't even pause the game short of ALT-TABbing and using Process Explorer to force suspend the game (hitting ESC and bringing up the main menu keeps the game running). I've no idea why any dev would leave out a pause option as people get interrupted all the time. Camera only rotates 90 degrees, after a quest is completed related dialogue options still show up, poor inventory management (everything uses the same size reused icons with no visible text unless you manually mouseover your 150 similar looking inventory items...) Trading is equally tedious and can only be done one at a time (ie, if your fighter char sees a magic staff, you can't just click on your mage to compare equipped items), tedious rapid weapon degradation, etc. This stuff falls into the "fun vs realism" thing - it may be "hardcore" to some but it simply isn't fun - and isn't that the bottom line of playing games - to have fun?...

Overall, I liked the early game but once you leave Cyseal and it starts to "branch out" across multiple forests, the whole thing gets bogged down in a convoluted mess of main quest dead ends, pixel hunting / RPS puzzles, "over-loot" and cumbersome trading & inventory management. It's like the devs looked at what's wrong with "dumbing down" in modern games, but then wildly over-compensated in all the wrong areas by creating a game with such an unhelpful main plot progression / journal system / nitpickity micro-management centric mechanics, it actually ends up more frustrating than challenging.

Score : 6 (8 for inside Cyseal during the first 10hrs and 4 for the rest where the game virtually grinds to a halt for days on end under one main quest dead-end after another and tedious pixel hunting "puzzles").

Quests are obtuse sometimes, with no clear correct answer to the question, "So, where do I go?" This is fine, it just makes you explore and fight more. All good things. Pretty excited to play more.

One of the best gaming adventures I played in the last few years. It will make you feel smart, and it will make you feel stupid. You are going to be frustrated and helpless and you will feel like a winner when you successfully overcome an obstacle (and there are usually many ways to do it).... PS: don't use the internet too much to help you (maybe only for some initial tips), it should be played like an old-school game in order to fully enjoy it. And while you are going to ask yourself many questions and have many doubts, this is a big part of what makes the game more like a real experience.

The combat system is the absolute best part of this game. The story is engaging and the art style is beautify, but it is the diversity of combat scenarios and solutions that really sold it for me. The only negatives for me were the only average questing system and a few frustrating camera controls.

Simple tasks that should take a single click, like picking up and reading a journal, have been made unnecessarily cumbersome.

The storyline's laughable and cliched. The game looks like it should be played on a minimized screen yet, bafflingly, occupies about 10 GB of space. Twenty minutes into the game, and I'm hurting for a refund, silently cursing the positive reviews that encouraged me to spend $39.99 on this.

Another thought character customization could be improved. Divinity: Original Sin was the RPG I've been waiting for...for a LONG time. I just want to put this out there really quickly, that I am an RPG veteran, dating back to the mid to late 80s, so I've had my fair share of CRPGs. Anyhoo...

Divinity: Original Sin is the prequel to the first Divine Divinity. Like the first game, I had no idea this one even existed. I had never heard of Larian Studios at the time of release for Divine Divinity, and happened to pick it up at Best Buy one day, and fell in love right away. The same happened with this game. Somehow, I never knew it was coming and just saw a Web ad one day and immediately downloaded it.

Character creation is very solid, and can be daunting for those who don't really like to get into too much detail (though not nearly as hardcore as a D&D game). You create two main characters, picking sex, face, portrait, hair, voice, starting skills, attributes, and 2 talents. Depending on what class you pick, these will all be pre-assigned, but you are free to modify and rearrange them if you wish. As the game progresses, you can build your character in anyway you choose, and either stay on the path you chose, or create a hybrid class. Hybrids will not be overpowered machines, but they can easily be viable and fun.

The story isn't anything extremely original, but it is engaging, especially if you've played the other games. Fans of Divine Divinity will get some chuckles out of Larian's usual humor or some old references, but you don't need to have played the other games to understand this one or enjoy what's going on. The NPC's do feel a bit one dimensional, and there isn't a lot of voice acting, but it's still engaging and there's some lore in books that you find. You can also make your characters argue with each other, and the dialogue options that you pick will alter personality traits, which in turn alter certain skills. This is quite useful to help beef up some skills without wasting valuable skill points.

Combat is turn based (which I love in an RPG), and does require some thought. Early on, you can't just go off and think you're going to steamroll everything (though towards the end you might be able to do so. I always found battles much easier as the game went on, save for boss battles). You can use objects and the elements to your advantage. Spill water on the ground, toss a lightning spell and electrocute/stun your foes! Great times! If you've played Fallout or Fallout 2, you'll kind of feel the combat system in there a bit, as everything is done with action points. The good news though is you can adjust combat difficulty at anytime, even during combat, if something is too hard and you don't want to wait to try it later when you're better prepared. Spells are quite fun, and there's a lot of useful ones. The only downside to this is that sometimes there are too many spells to deal with, and a lot of them become useless later on as you gain more powerful spells, but that's usually the case with most games.

For most modern day gamers, questing might be one thing to upset you. Be forewarned that this game isn't a hand holder like today; You will not get direction as to where to go or what to do. You will be given a few hints here and there, then the rest is up to you. There is a journal though that records quests and conversations so you can refer back if you forget what to do.

My only real gripe with the game is the rock-paper-scissors mini-game. It's fun at first, but it's completely random. Even if you seem to have more points per victory than the NPC you go up against, the computer always seems to win no matter what (maybe I just have bad luck). I rarely ever get a victory.

While most people seem to hate the camera angles, it doesn't bother me. I get enough of a zoom in or out, and am able to rotate the camera just fine. If you need a full top down view during combat, just press the "B" key (I believe that's the default)

The graphics are pretty and the world is large and lush. There are several large maps you will travel throughout the game. Those who played Divinity or Beyond Divinity will understand this, and probably relish in it. Just like Divine Divinity, monsters do not respawn during the game, and it isn't like Diablo where a whole new game starts every time you log in. The single player mode saves and stays in the same state. The level cap is somewhere in the 20's, so it's pretty short in terms of leveling, but there's enough content to keep you going for hours.

To sum it up, Divinity: Original Sin might not be for the faint of heart, or those with short attention spans. It does require quite a bit of thought and strategy, but the game has so much to offer. I'm hoping Larian takes it even further with mods, because there's so much more that can be done with this game. The story is good, the combat is good, and the puzzles are fun and challenging. I highly recommend this underrated gem.

There is no handholding in the game, you have to read a lot of text, but not only is that very interesting for me, it sucks you incredibly hard into the gameworld that you sometimes just can't stop playing.

And then, there is combat - I've never before had so much fun playing a wizard in a game like this. Casting spells, burning down baddies and what else not is more rewarding in Divinity than in any other RPG I've played so far. There's some oil on the floor? Okay, then burn it and throw an enemy into it for good measure! Together with the very well done environment on every single of the large maps it's nothing short of a blast to explore the game.

Dialogue is vital in Original Sin. You basically have to talk to many, many characters on your quests to find solutions, find out where to go next, but it's all very organic and done in a way that when you figure something out, it makes sense. The game just will not do things for you (there IS a quest log mind you), or tell you what to do next - this is all down to the player to find out on your travels.

Overall, there'd be so much more to say about this gem, but I know I am a little late to the party here so that'll be it from me for now. I just wanted to add this review to thank Larian for their amazing game, because it's nothing short of that, and the fact friend and I played this for over 90 hours in coop with little to no issues ever. That's how it should be, and that's right another thumbs up. Divinity certainly has beefed up the standards far as RPG goes for me and it'll be tough for any other to replace it at the top of my list anytime soon. Far as RPG goes, Divinity: Original Sin is the real deal to me!

    - Combat (Strong Points). It makes you take into consideration your party's strengths and the environment around you. The fact that it is also turn-based makes you think each and every action. Everything you do is meaningful, even positioning yourself better! It's also not a walk in the park, especially on hard and forces you to choose your party accordingly (I had to re-start at some point because my party set-up wasn't any good).

    - Combat (Weak Points): The fights were there are too many NPC's involved feel slow, but that's like 2 or three cases, as far as I remember, in the whole game.

    - Crafting (Strong Points): Time to get creative here! I think crafting is one of the most important factors giving you the feeling of RPG-ness. The things you can craft are many and you can get really creative in this process (oh the joy when you discover some recipe/reagent by yourself!). And it does feel like proper crafting; you need the proper tool/place to make the item you want.

    - Crafting (Weak Points): Some materials are limited and you might accidentally waste them in the start of the game. Also, you can't craft helmets nor bracers.

    - Story/Plot (Strong Points): It is as it should be; it starts from something small and escalates to grand proportions. It begins slowly at first, but soon you're hooked up and eager to find out what happens next.

    - Story/Plot (Weak Points): The plot has been based on... a very popular story(ies) of our time. It's unoriginal and I feel they could have made a better job at transforming these stories into their own, giving off only the slightest hints to where they had based their own creation.

    - Puzzles/Riddles - Secrets (Strong Points): There are many of them lying around on the map and it makes the game ever more so engaging. They drive the player to explore more, be more observant of his surroundings and be creative on his solutions!

    - Puzzles - Secrets (Weak Points): Two switches in particular were too hard to see and they were needed to advance the story (their search was tedious due to the vastness of the room they were contained).

The writing and the dialogues are good, even if cliched at some points. There choices for the outcomes that, even though they exist, most times (if not always) are restricted to two and don't seem to have a great impact on the story, apart from your protagonist's traits. There are too few memorable characters and they come out a bit one-dimensional in their personalities. Although it seems they had attempted to created some sort of relationship between the protagonists (and the companions), it isn't really fleshed out.

Praise the Lord for it's 4 quicksave slots and the quick moving around with waypoints! The graphics are also quite good. If I could change something, I'd change the camera and the inventory system.

I could elaborate more, but I'll leave the matter at that. I give the game a 7. It's quite enjoyable indeed, replayable at least once. It's nowhere near perfection though; some things are missing (e.g. day/night cycle, alternative endings/more options for your story) or could be improved (e.g. story and character depth, complexity and number, npc interaction, npc voice acting, inventory, UI, more character creation options etc.).

I can only hope that Original Sin: Divinity might whack a bit of sense to RPG making studios (I am looking at you Bioware) and show that old-school >>>C

I have to agree that the game is too vague about your progression. I had to REGULARLY get info from walkthrough's to progress, simply because the progression and/or puzzles are overwhelming. I don't need handholding, but the game has numerous points where you simply don't have any idea what to do next, and when you're FORCED read a walkthrough you often exclaim "No way I would have EVER figured that out." I have to deduct a point each for puzzles and aimlessness, but the fun factor won't allow me to rate the game as low as an eight, so 8.5 it is. Still a fantastic game, but there is room for improvement and I would definitely back Larian via kickstarter if I felt that feedback could guide them to another great game.

The game was massively hyped and showered with great reviews, many people called it a "masterpiece". But is it truly a masterpiece? Not even close.

I'll start with imo the most important thing in rpg's: the story. Its so cliche that you stop caring about it right from the beginning. Someone, somewhere is raising dead and you have to find out whats going on. Seriously? Any elementary school kid could come up with something better over the weekend. You just don't care about the story at all. They could remove main plot and no one would even notice.

While we are at the story let's talk about a related thing: playable npc's. I don't know how is it possible but they managed to create the worst npc's in history of rpg's. There only two of them and both are completely uninteresting (and that's a huge understatement). One is a chick who wants to kill everything that is evil without giving any thought. Second one is some run-of-the-mill, ordinary, boring dude, like a cook or a taxi driver or something. I didn't care enough to ask him wtf is he anyway. Remember those awesome npc's from Planescape: Torment, Mass Effect or first Dragon Age? Good, because you're not gonna find them here.

The game is plagued with a plethora of terrible design choices. It's like they tried to be too hardcore for their own good. Quest log is completely useless, don't get me wrong, i don't need quest markers, but it doesn't tell you anything. Even if a quest giver told you where to find something its not noted in your journal for some reason. You can't highlight items on the screen wich will make you to look for things with your mouse cursor, scrolling up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down... It's especially annoying when you have to look for some tiny lever or button which are completely invisible and most of the time you don't even know that you should look for them. Inventory management is a mess too.

Bugs are omnipresent from broken quests, spells to npc's. You can even break the game by doing quests that you were supposed to do later. Its "fine" if you have recent saves, but if you don't you are in deep sh....

Puzzles, don't get me started on them. There are more useless, annoying puzzles here than in all games i played before altogether. They don't test your intelligence, its just the usual "here are 6 levers, pull them in right orded" sometimes with annoying twist, just a completely brainless waste of time. At one point i came across a dungeon with 4 buttons and a door locked behind a magic barrier. I was pushing buttons by putting items on them, tried every goddamn combination, different order, i looked through dungeon multiple times for the clues, i looked for some invisible buttons, casted different spells, tried destroying them, I even went back to the quest giver and nothing... I had to check out a walkthrough which completely destroyed any immersion i had left. It turns out I had to put itemes of different weight on those buttons. Like 1 pound on first one, 7.5 pounds on second, 5.3 on third etc. But the worst thing is that those buttons were working before, when i put stuff on them the animation went off and they were pushed down. How in hell was i supposed to know that i need to put 2.3 more pounds on first one and 9.1 more pounds on third one? THEY WERE WORKING BEFORE!!! Its just a completely idiotic design.

The game does some things properly. The music is awesome, i would sit in main menu just to listen to it. Graphics are nice too. Combat system is interesting at the beginning but deep inside its just your standard action point/turn based combat. You'll find combos that work for you and faceroll 90% of fights with them.

Overall there are so many huge problems with this game that its not worth you time/money until you can find it for like 3$ on steam. And even then i would recommend getting something like first Dragon Age, Skyrim, any Mass Effect, Fallout 3 or NV if you haven't completed them yet. If you played all those games, you can try this one out, WITH CAUTION.

This game knocks you in the ass. Best music. Best mechanics. Best graphics for a turn based game. Best party members. Best co-op. Best gameplay. Best jokes. Best history. Best script. Best editor. Best Game I ever played.

Absolutely amazing RPG. Very few bugs, and they dont detract from the immersion at all. Ok character customization, fun combat, good story (not spectacular but I am old so its hard to surprise me), and just a fun time. I liked this game so much that I actually started replay instantly after finishing the 1st game, granted, I did not finish the 2nd run through before switching games. StillAbsolutely amazing RPG. There are a few things that I personally would like to have in RPG's like this. More character customization options would be nice, I really miss the NWN style D&D classes and how you can mix and match classes to make whatever you want. This game is pretty straight forward class wise although once you know the tricks, you can make a very powerful dual class type character. I hated the rock/paper/scissors dialog fights... it reminded me of how much I hated the dialog in Oblivion. The camera was iffy sometimes and sometimes in combat, environmental strategies dont work right because it is not clear where to aim or whether or not you can do it all. For instance, some puddles do not electrocute properly. The game definitely needs an commit/undo option due to silly click mistakes.

I feel people give this game a good review because it appeases there nostalgia and refuse to look at the glaring faults. Like character development the god awful story and the horrible pacing and the side quests that feel the same.

Yes its like an old school RPG but only in top down DND format. It has nothing besides this aposolutely nothing. Spent 400 hours on this game and what I got

Yes its like an old school RPG but only in top down DND format. It has nothing besides this aposolutely nothing. Spent 400 hours on this game and what I got from it was a mixed bag. I kept thinking well maybe the story picks up or maybe the character interaction / development picks up. It has fun environmental effects but other than that the game was forgettable..

Its the basic run of the mill "your character is special get heroes stop the bad guys kind of story" no stunning plot twists or writing. I enjoyed reading all the books the game had but writing sort of falls off a cliff about 30% into the game. There are also a few colorful NPC and funny moments but nothing worth the price tag. I was expecting Boulders gate 2 and planescape writing what I got was Skyrim mixed with never winter knights 2...

It's a conscious decision on Larian's part to resurrect tried-and-true threads that run deep into the bones of the CRPG genre. It's a culmination of those efforts and an unapologetic celebration of battle-tested concepts backed by solid co-op. Most of all, it comes together as a grand adventure that hearkens back to sleepless nights buoyed by the roll of a die and a pad of grid paper shared between fellow dungeon crawlers.

Relatively small Larian Studios finally managed to deliver a really significant game. Original Sin is brimming with ideas on how to bring back old school RPG vibe and make it fit modern times. [Sept 2014, p.50]

As much as I loved the bulk of the game, by the end I was burning out, and burning out fast. Despite that, I'm glad that some studios are still willing to show an almost insane level of ambition in realizing the games they want to make without compromise, even if it does lead to a few dire moments here and there.
