I has great depth and a very good storyline that will give you many hours of enjoyment. Beginning from the start you must build ships, research and explore for planets or resources while maintaining a budget. Along the way you face many obstacles including pirates, space creatures and other alien races. Negotiate trade agreements or go to war, the choice is yours. As you expand a story will develop that will give you hints on the troubles you will face. A very good game in my opinion. Full Review »

I try to go back to GalCivDistant Worlds has ruined me for other space-based 4X-strategy games, which is a genre I love more than any other. I try to go back to GalCiv and MoO once in a while, but nothing matches the scale and minute level of control that Distant Worlds offers. I'll be playing this for years to come. Full Review »

If you enjoy conquering space in your own way by building a ridiculous fleet of steel, or letting the AI handle the performance for you (which is does very well) then you should definitely give this game a chance. The game feels natural and unforced, it's a very deep and varied system of politics, science, and expansion. Very fun to play.

I won't compare this 4X titan to others in the genre but I can say that this game stands on its own very easily. This is one of the very best sci-fi 4x games, even though it's basically unheard of. Give this game a chance you won't regret it!
