Distant Star: Revenant Fleet is a nice alternative to other space rogue-like games like FTL: Faster Than Light, with a pleasing art direction and enjoyable soundtrack which includes dark themes and sounds, unlike most titles in the genre.

Distant Star: Revenant Fleet is likely not for everyone. With a difficulty that scales to the size and strength of your own fleet, it has no problem seeing your force crushed and your desperate mission ended.

Decent design, nice customization of ships, biggest flaw is the exceedingly random difficulty and the overabundance of unwinnable encounters.Decent design, nice customization of ships, biggest flaw is the exceedingly random difficulty and the overabundance of unwinnable encounters. Sometimes you can fight through with patience, tactics, micromanaging, and fleeing/manuevering; sometimes you are simply so heavily outnumbered that such things are impossible. The game patches have massively improved it over time, but when the number of enemies is based on how many ships you have, it leads to the question of why would you work to max out your fleet? Scaling difficulty has its places, but they are few and far between; this doesn't seem to be one of them. Full Review »

i like games about space but this one was terribly executed, depends entirely on luck and a space game in 2d plain is bad enough.
