Pretty fun. Great graphics and solid controls, though the shooting is a bit floaty. The only big negative i can think of is the boss battles, which are god awful. Overall, it's a great game, well worth the purchase. Expand

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is absolutely fantastic. There's so many places to explore and different side quests to carry out. The boss fights can be really easy or really hard depending on the items you have equipped which was my only let down. Having almost completed a bachelor of Biotechnology I found the storyline particularly enjoyable and I personally really related to it.

i am positive since the game holds up well to its predecessor, i do however miss the skill tree from deus ex so it didn't have to be all about augmentations.
the weapon upgrade system is a good touch.

As a cyberpunk fan i dived into this game with lots of expectations and all thing lived up to the hype! It's a great game with great script, writing, dialogue, intrigue and stealth/FPS/RPG elements. It worth every penny spent on it!

Having looked at the ridiculous, perfect 10 scores the Eidos and Square employees have been giving this rather mediocre game, I've decided to try and balance out the bias a bit (by awarding a nice fat zero to this console abomination)...

I really enjoyed this game, great in depth story, lots of ways to optimize your gear and paths to completing the goal. I just wish it had kept going and that they had done more dlc or at least released mod tools. Of course when compared to the original Deus Ex it doesn't hold a candle, on its own though it is well worth the price.

The game's design is the result of a LOT of iteration and it really shows. The story was mediocre to boring plus it was incredibly linear, though I didn't really mind that too much. What really keeps you playing the game is the combat. It takes a lot of patience and planning to get through from room to room. This gives the game a feeling of length and it's something that makes it drag on just a bit too much. Overall it was a good game and I had fun playing it, but I played it over 6 months and logged some 24 hours into it, so hardly addictive or suspenseful to the point that I couldn't put it down. I usually beat games in a week to two weeks for reference.

Gameplay - superb, flows nicely and seemlessly from one area to the next, movements are natural, physics are great and natural and the AI is really impressive. Storyline - Fantastic, i think this was the icing on the cake for me, an orignal, well thought out concept and design and had me gripped to want to know more. Music - was again, faultess, gave such depth to the game and a futuristic feel to it. I had skipped Invisible War entirely however due to reports of it being geared toward the consoles way too much. I'll quite likely go back and play it some day, but a Deus Ex themed FPS just isn't what I was looking for at the time. So when the reviews of Deus Ex: Human Revolution being more like the original started to surface, my interest was piqued. I had expected little of Human Revolution before it was released, and I'm quite happy to have been proven wrong in my assumptions.

My main complaint with Human Revolution however is that unlike the original Deus Ex, I didn't feel free to play the game as I wished. While yes, you can technically run and gun your way through the whole thing, the EXP system is very heavily geared toward stealth tackdowns and hacking, making the system very all or nothing. If you're at all concerned about missing things, as I am, you'll find yourself playing the way the devs obviously intend rather than how you might like to approach a situation.

Much to my surprise however, I maxed out pretty much every half-decent augmentation between 1/2 and 3/4th of the way through the game. At this point EXP became completely moot, so my motivation for being a stealth hacker suddenly fell through the floor. I guess I did too many sidequests and hack-grinding? I must admit though, it actually worked out well enough. I was finally able to play the "stealth shooter" I wanted to play, rather than the "silent assassin" I had exclusively played up until that point in the game to maximize EXP.

At a whopping 35 hours long for my main play-through, plus more for The Missing Link, HR certainly shows its RPG leanings. You're not going to find many FPS titles even approaching that length, though in fairness you're going to spend a fair amount of that running around hub cities, talking to NPCs. With a fairly good story, decent graphics, and fun gameplay - it's easy to recommend to Human Revolutions to other Deus Ex fans out there.

It is very linear, skill system isn't great and constant "hacking" can after a while get a bit annoying plus fights are very repetitive in its style, yet despite that I enjoyed this game. Dialogues and plot were good and lethality was pleasantly high. Half-decent choice of weaponry plus constant ammo problems were nice addition too.

For me replayability of this game equals 0, but

Cover/ no cover based gunfights are more than decent, offer many weapons, options, and challanging AI (It has flaws, but generally fine) and can be mixed with the stealth system. Stealth is also very good, and the its expiriment is changed depending on the upgrades you take (Invisibility, silent walk/run/ sprint, visual sound, etc...). The hacking system does the job excellently, offering challanging, but not to repeating gameplay, and is bested because it is done in real game time, so you can't hack computer in the second the guard don't look like in splinter cell and such. But the newest possibility in my opinion was the presuading system, DEFINATELY the best conversation-gamplay I've ever seen in the game. I don't know how they made the fully sounded conversation for any conversation course I've choosen, but It felt very real, and was also very challanging. The only game I know that can even be compared to Deus Ex in that field was LA-noire, and in my opinion was way worser. Plus, The result of the conversation in this game actually does matter, sometimes making your life easier, sometimes giving you additional background information, but also can sometimes be better off because you can convince people to harm themself helping you while you can actually do it without their help. I advice anyone to save some money for the next steam sale, Definately worth the money. Expand

The game is beautiful (barring some awkward face models), and the score is superb. The game is also mature enough to forgo the generic Bioware Light/Dark moral system, making the player's choices and wording carry more weight. Some of the best, most intense moments of this game are the discussions you have with other characters, as in talking down anti-augmentation terrorists and convincing corporate heads to divulge secrets. If you enjoy science fiction, shooters, RPG's, or stealth games, Human Revolution is a must-play.

However, it still has a few too many flaws to be considered truly great. Those hoping to find the deep philosophical issues and fantastic role-playing experience of the first Deus Ex will assuredly be disappointed by Human Revolution's comparatively shallow narrative and heavy emphasis on shooter and cover-based elements. The game is disappointingly short (even after completing all of the sidequests) and it's setting and themes, though interesting, are largely unexplored. Few, if any, of the characters are ever fleshed out and the main story, in retrospect, is pretty mediocre and unsatisfying - particularly the final act. I can forgive a lot, but HR fails to recover from many of its missteps. Still, it's rare to see a AAA title with any kind of brain.

If you're discovering Deus Ex with this title, it must be fun and pleasing, but when you've enjoyed the first Deus Ex several times, to see it taken to this level of coarseness only for profit, it's just sad and frustrating. I might be a little harsh, but really, I expected more from this game. Way more. Now, let's hope some independent developer will bring some decent alternative to this title; since the gaming industry seems to care too less about quality and too much about profit.

The hacking is a mess with its chance-based core and 30 second lockout forcing the player to abuse the quickload button and the conversations though functional and quite innovative feels constricted and more like a tool to advance the story than for you to play around with. Overall the game feels really unpolished and there are a lot of strange design choices here and there. The energy system is a mess, the map-interface is annoying, the boss battles are dumb and the menu-interface is kind of crappy. The fact that you often need specific augments to advance in the route you have taking is also annoying and if you don't feel like backtracking from time to time you will probably walk around with a couple of praxis on you just in case. Making the augment-system much more constricted that it need to be. The game is still decent though and if you can look past its problem there is a meaty action-rpg waiting for you. It is a semi-open world mission-based game that revolves around infiltrating hostile locations and retrieving objectives. The approach you take towards reaching your objective is completely up to you, and you will be rewarded accordingly. You can walk through the front door and engage in an all-out gunfight (although it is worth noting that on PC, aiming down your sights is toggle-only) provided you have the weapons, ammunition and FPS skill to take all of your enemies down, or you can find an alternate entry and sneak past guards undetected, taking them down silently as you crawl through the shadows. I found this approach to be more fun and more rewarding, as exploring secret areas and finding uncommon routes to your objective will net you XP and item rewards. While there is no level or level cap in the game, gaining enough XP by taking down enemies, finding secret areas and completing objectives will earn you praxis points, which can be invested into the game's skill tree. These upgrades that you can purchase using praxis, called augmentations, will increase your chances of survival and should reflect your play style. If you tend to find yourself in gunfights a lot, you'll want to upgrade your weapon damage and health. If you're a sneaky bugger and you don't want your enemies to know what hit them, you'll probably be best off purchasing the stealth augmentations. If you like coercing others into sharing your point of view in conversations, you'll want the augmentation that allows you to see how people are reacting to what you're saying.
Stealth is arguably the tougher method of completing the game, but I found it to be extremely rewarding. I have not played any other Deus Ex game before, nor am I particularly fond of stealth games; I struggle to complete Splinter Cell games. But Human Revolution is very accessible for the average player, the balancing is great and it never feels like the game has an unfair advantage over you, nor that it is too easy. And even if you bought the game expecting an FPS, you won't be disappointed. The shooting feels varied and functional, with an array of weapons at your disposal.
Between these missions, you will have time to explore the cities the game takes place in. There may not be a lot of them and they may not be very large in size, but they're just enough to allow you some breathing space between the fast-paced action that takes place during missions. You can sell and buy items, talk to people and look for loot around areas such as Detroit or Hengsha, a Chinese city with a completely different atmosphere. Sometimes I felt as though the game could offer me a little more freedom in roaming its setting, but it's nothing that will ruin the experience.
The game's story won't leave you sobbing, but it's a solid tale that holds together the masterful game-play. Some bits in particular that I won't spoil, were very well made and truly had an impact on the way I viewed the characters involved.
This game is fantastic. Solid shooting, balanced and very rewarding stealth, a thoughtfully made skill tree, all surrounded by a good story make for a very fun experience. If you're remotely interested in stealth, or if you want a shooter with a little more meaning to it, definitely purchase Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Although the game is first-person, do not treat this as a FPS like Halo -- a couple of shots and you're dead. This is a shooter (or not, depending on your playing style) that actually requires strategy to survive violent encounters. Aside from the several boss battles, you can choose to play the game stealthily and not kill a single person; instead, you can use a tranquilizer gun, stun gun, gas grenades and so forth to incapacitate your enemies; or you can sneak your way through the game without any enemy contact - it is your choice, and the way this system is set up is RPG style where you level up and obtain Praxis points to spend to "level up" certain augmentations. For those of you who have seen the hacking game, it is not as difficult as it looks; I actually find it to be somewhat fun, if not a little tedious. The story is good and engrossing; it's not amazing, but it holds together well. Perhaps my biggest issue with the game is the voice acting: Jensen sounds indifferent to any circumstances that occur, and aside from the decently acted main characters, many of the voices are cheesy of downright lame; the Chinese voices in particular are very stereotypical and cheesy. This is also a long-lasting game; I spent approximately 39 hours in my first playthrough, and that's with doing all of the side missions. Overall, subpar facial animations and lame voice-acting aside, this is a fantastic game that one should not pass up! Expand

There are only a few games this year we suggest to 16-yrs old gamers and their fathers together. Human Revolution for sure is a Game of the Year nominee. [Oct 2011]

So despite the odds being stacked against it, Eidos Montreal accomplished the impossible and brought us a Deus Ex in the true sense of the word, probably the best one that we could have hoped for considering the current "requirements" for being commercially successful nowadays.

A worthy successor to one of the greatest games ever. It offers a lot of choice on many levels and feels like an RPG from years past - in a very good way. One of the best, if not the best game of 2011. [Oct 2011]
