Please, let your kids play Deltarune. It will teach them important things, and I know this from experience. You see, my daughter used to have... issues. She was very homophobic, and would always say stuff like "I absolutely hate the LGBTQ agenda! They keep harassing us!" and I would always have to try to explain how there is no issue with them, but she would always deny it. She also saidPlease, let your kids play Deltarune. She also said that she would date girls, if only it didn't have "Mega Gay Energy." Eventually however, she played Deltarune, and after completing Chapter 2, she came downstairs to talk with me. She told me that after playing Deltarune, she realized that LGBTQ people aren't as bad as she thought. I was so proud of her, and that wasn't it. She even came out as lesbian, and I was even more happy. I googled what caused this sudden realization, and apparently there are two characters in the game named Noel and Suzy, who like each other but haven't confessed. So, if your child is homophobic, please, tell them about Noel and Suzy. If any homophobes even try to sue this game, I will come to their house. I appreciate what our video games are doing in this day.

DELTARUNE is a very interesting game. It has the same feeling as UNDERTALE but the creator himself stated that this is a different universe.

The music, the characters, the writing, the deep story that one day, it'll be connected. I've played both chapters and it was really damn good!

I love Deltarune chapter one and this, this was a TREAT. For all of you Undertale fans, you will adore this chapter. It adds Toby's masterful art of music and throws it into an amazing experience. Its lore is very in-depth but its gameplay is super simple but hard to master. Deltarune chapter 2 was greatness.

It has a lot of what made Undertale and Chapter 1 great. Lovable characters, secrets, fun battle system, amazing music, and more. Can't wait for chapter 3-5.

In general, the post-start part of the game consists of non-funny jokes and places that seem like they were made just for doing it. The characters are already the types whose purpose and where to do is unclear. In addition to being weak in terms of characters and story, their music was not very good. In general, the music was average to sub-par performance, and I even doubted whether the music was composed by Toby Fox. Frankly, deltarune 1 was fine, but chapter 2 was a disappointment. It was like a bad game made just to do it. I wouldn't expect that from Toby Fox. This is the highest mark I can give for this game. 5 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played around 7 hours of both chapters combined and this is AMAZING. I don't know why SOME people hate this game, the story of the second chapter is... really different compared to the first chapter. It's also pretty easy to abort the Snowgrave Route (like not using Snowgrave on Berdly) and it combines being serious with COMEDY in a great way. GIGA Queen's boss fight is pretty easy (you can deal damage while being attacked due to the fight being a boxing match) and it brings in a really dark plot element. I like dark plot elements. The Roaring, which I presume will happen in chapter 7, is that plot element. Now I'll go deeper into the review.

The music, story and gameplay is probably some of the best and most unique in all of video game history. I know, being only 7 hours into Deltarune isn't much, but it's actually up to the end of Chapter 2. Chapter 1 was an interesting chapter, but it's nothing compared to chapter 2. My final score is a perfect 10/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have absolutely no idea why so many people rabidly praise Deltarune Chapter 2. It comes off to me as less a game and more a vehicle through which Toby Fox can put on paper plate masks of the characters and reference memes from the 90's-00's at the player. From start to finish, absolutely everything that occurs "just happens". Not a single important event is caused by a character's actions, the story simply trundles along, delivering grating non-sequitur after grating non-sequitur, until it culminates in a final boss fight that, while gimmicky and fun, amounts to absolutely nothing but multiple hours of wasted time, despite its efforts to convince you otherwise.

The main crux of everything wrong with the chapter can be summed up in a single character: the main antagonist, Queen. She absolutely never feels like a threat, nor does she feel like an actual character at all. Supposedly, she is a computer, particularly some kind of smash-together of "Noelle's sad search history" (which is never really relevant to the plot). Despite Queen's supposed status as a machine capable of thinking thousands of times faster than a person, she constantly makes careless mistakes, drinks, swears, quotes memes, and acts in a manner that makes no sense at all and is driven entirely by a desire to be random. She pops in and out throughout the plot, making wacky and irreverent "jokes", mostly about how much of a superior being she is. Then, at the end of the chapter, as though we had been building up to something instead of just screwing around in a back alley, eating bananas, sailing on swans, and referencing Twitter for two hours, she suddenly starts pretending that she -- and by extension, the story -- was building up to something, saying things about how sad Noelle is about her dead sister or whatever and babbling about escapism through computers. This had precisely ONE (1) separate instance of build-up, being the bookshelf in Noelle's room, which you encounter roughly fifteen minutes before the fight.
Then, for whatever reason, after being defeated, Toby thought it'd be really funny to make a sitcom ending happen. Ralsei quickly explains the plot to her, and she goes, "Oh, well gee, sorry. What a misunderstanding, haha! You guys go on ahead, then." What? What kind of writing is this? Is this game about something or not? Which leads me to another question:

Is this game about something or not? Is it a lighthearted comedy game made for people with a terrib- I mean *very specific* sense of humor, or is it a dramatic exploration of how we as people try to escape from reality through small comforts, and the things we leave behind as we grow older? If you're trying to do the latter, you CAN have jokes, that's fine, but you can't make the ENTIRE PLOT jokes -- it needs to have some build up, or at least some tiny hints that something deeper is happening. The closest thing you get is Spamton, who is both figuratively and literally garbage.
Absolutely nothing of substance happens until the last 5 minutes of the chapter, where it's revealed that, whoooaa, Kris is the one opening all these fountains. Yeah, kinda figured. So, what's the twist about Asriel gonna be? That he's not actually very nice and that's what Kris has to play make-believe to escape from? Wowee. Couldn't have guessed that from the fact that Ralsei seems kinda suspect occasionally. Maybe he's secretly the narrator guy, wouldn't that be a twist.

[I ranted for 2 more paragraphs, but fortunately for you, this website has a character limit.]

In short, Deltarune Chapter 2 is an annoying mess of unfunny references and visual gags trying its best to masquerade as a serious story -- essentially, it's what would happen if you tried as tonedeaf-ly as you could to make Persona into a comedy game. I can only hope that Toby knows this, and actually makes something happen in Chapter 3, but given his response to the tongue-bathing his fans gave his junk over the game on his Twitter, I'm not going to hold my breath. The only worth this game has is in its visuals and sound design, which are both unironically great. Unfortunately, pretty sounds and sights does not a good game make.

They turned undertale into a kids game.

Are you kidding me? Why Toby Fox. WHY!
Also musics aren’t that good. Don’t play this game.

I think Chapter 2 is a bit better than the first chapter. The music is fantastic almost as good as in Undertale. I liked the bosses very much. The story picks up speed and it becomes more exciting. It introduces puzzle mechanics that are fun. The world also looks fantastic and the music intensifies the atmosphere. I am very excited about the next chapter.

Chapter 2 overall, is great. It's pretty much double the length of Chapter 1.

Although, it feels a bit less polished than Chapter 1, and the places you visit/enemies you fight are less memorable than in Chapter 1. ACTs could also be improved, as for the most part, they felt pretty one dimensional and just had you constantly using the same one until you could spare the enemy. However,

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This chapter takes what made the first chapter great and expands on it, making an experience that is just as good if not BETTER than chapter 1. This chapter adds in a new mechanic where if you spare enemies they will appear in the Castel town, it provides an incentive to spare the enemies which is nice. Speaking of Castel town, it's a pretty good hub. It has a lot to do and it's a good way to interact with characters and replay bosses with some added challenge, it also has the weapon shop from chapter 1 and it has a lot of funny scenes in it. Not that much to say about Castel Town, just a pretty neat addition. The music isn't as good as chapter 1's soundtrack, it's not bad and there are some memorable tracks but it's pretty forgettable tbh. The gameplay is pretty much unchanged from the first chapter, enemies are fun to fight but at one point you temporarily get Noelle on your team making it feel like a natural shift in gameplay. The chapter's dark world, like the first chapter's, is pretty good, it's going for an internet theme with some references to it, some of the references are good but others feel a bit eye-rolling, Queen is a funny character but her schtick of making internet references and using internet slang in every scene she's in get's old in the late game. I also think that the cutscenes go far too long, I wish there was a skip cutscene feature so you don't have to rewatch cut scenes on new playthroughs. Aside from those gripes, this is a cool dark world, the bosses in it are really fun and like the first chapter, they have a variety of attacks and funny dialogue. Some of these bosses actually use the act mechanic as a way to defeat them which makes the fights even more interesting than Chapter 1's fights. The characters here are also very charming and funny, with great personalities and plenty of funny moments. The puzzles are another thing that chapter 2 does better than chapter 1, the puzzles here are interesting and engaging and none of them feel unfair. Now let's talk about this chapter's storyline, now Berdly and Noelle are in the dark world with us, and like I said Noelle is our partner at one point in the chapter. Chapter 1 had only one character arc and that was Susie's, however, chapter 2 somehow manages to juggle two character arcs, Berdly and Noelle. Both of their character arcs are incredibly interesting and well developed. I'll cover Noelle's arc first, throughout the whole game Queen is hunting down Noelle and making trying to make her a peon, thinking it would make Noelle happy. Noelle spends most of the chapter hiding from Queen, until the end of the chapter when she stands up for herself, it's a great moment and some excellent character development for her, after spending most of the chapter hiding her emotions she then gains the courage to finale stand up to Queen, the chapter handled her arc masterfully. Next, let's talk about Berdly, I like how chapter 2 subverts the whole cliche of the smart guy being bullied, and instead, Berdly makes fun of Susie and Kris for their low grades. Anyways, Berdly acts the way he does because he thinks that being smart gives him superiority, that he should earn love from his family, and he felt special when people cheered for him at that spelling bee, but at the end of the game he learns that smarts aren't everything, it's a really relatable conflict that I'm sure some people face. The chapter avoids the whole "smart guy is the punching bag" trope in favor of making something more interesting. Like Susie's arc in chapter 1, Chapter 2 somehow manages to balance two different character arcs and makes them BOTH work, which is an impressive accomplishment. Chapter 2 while not perfect is a solid follow-up to chapter 1, I am pretty excited for future chapters of the game, as the story continues. Expand

Some minor but interesting experiments introduced in Chapter 2 are a welcome breath of fresh air and along with excellent writing make the game worth finishing twice. However, it’s hard to overlook the fact that Deltarune was built on the same, rather simple blueprint as Undertale and the formula might soon need a deeper makeover. That’s a worry for the future though. Today I urge you to download the game and experience another portion of Toby Fox’s great sense of humor. [12/2021, p.35]

It only takes a few hours to complete Deltarune Chapter 2, barring those who wish to go back and play the different routes. The quality of the experience matches that of a full-price game, and it makes the wait for the next chapters even harder. Deltarune Chapter 2 has improved upon the foundation laid down by the original game, proving that this world's characters and setting have what it takes to match those of Undertale. There are still five more chapters of Deltarune to go and it remains to be seen whether it can truly step out from Undertale's shadow, but Deltarune Chapter 2 feels like a game that's more confidant in its direction, and more willing to let players shape the fate of its characters.
