    It's not a terror/horror game anymore, it's a shooting and action game because it was totally predictable and doesn't give more scares like the first or second game. GRAPHICS ARE BEAUTIFUL and great animations

    This is not a survival-horror anymore, to be fair, only the first one was truly a survival-HORROR, to be fair it's very hard to rival a "deserted" starship setting and the unknown factor it's very hard to repeat in the sequel and yet, DS2 is great in it's own merits, mostly because it brought a deeper look into the lore of Dead Space franchise. And it's the same with Dead Space 3, this game is most an action game than it's a horror game, it does have good moments, but most of the time it's just a survival-action game, and it's not necessarily a bad thing, because this game bring a even deeper look into the lore (which is amazing btw) and also a ton of new mechanics, like the weapon creator, that is great. Haters gonna hate, but I think this is a good game and it's a shame that EA has closed down Visceral Games. In time, the first two game had movies that helped set the background before the games, it's a shame EA didn't do that for DS3.… Expand

    this was a fun disappointment. fun as in the action was entertaining you and the (optional) partner you get in this journey. disappointing as in the storyline and lack of "horror" thats watered down with action. it tries hard to be both but cant be a jack of all trades. boss fights are interesting, really cool suit and weapon upgrades.     As most people are doing I will compare this game to it's previous titles. Dead space one is great for what it created and two is great for everything it built on one. Now three for me is special because of the setting and atmosphere. The exact opposite of what other people thought but I just loved the setting and new creatures that three added.     People leaving bad reviews because the game is different really don't understand how progression in games work, this game is near perfect.

    The story is fantastic, the sci-fi elements are huge in this game too, co-op really made this game shine and was a brilliant desicion for the 3rd installment of the main story.     This game expands upon everything the first 2 were trying to do and brings in so much more, the graphics in this still look better than most up to date games now, the best in the series imo, ignore any review of people complaining about co-op considering it's completely optional and the game in single player is still very much survival horror just with more action.    … Expand

    No es el mejor Dead Space pero no es una mal juego de hecho es un muy buen juego, tiene bastante rejugabilidad con los diferentes modos de dificultad y el coop, creo que el juego merece un 8 o 7, como fan le doy un 9 por la diversión y rejugabilidad que me ha dado, pero para nada es basura como la gente dice, algunas de sus mejores características:

    Coop, rejugabilidad, desbloqueo de logros, acción, gráficos y diseños, el cambio de escenarios, incluso el modo de creación de armas es divertido si lo comprendes(no es tan dificil y e visto a la gente quejarse, es que no se enteran de lo que hacen y dicen que es basura por que no se toman el tiempo para entender el sistema y quieren todo fácil sin esfuerzo, entiendo que el sistema del 1 y 2 eran mejores o más "comodos" pero para nada hacen a este sistema basura, hay nuevos enemigos necromorfos , humanos uniólogos, y los robots son de mucha ayuda para recolectar recursos, el sonido el genial, la música es la mejor de los 3.

    Los aspectos negativos: no hay terror(se cambio ese especto en la mayor parte del juego excepto el dlc pero esa es la idea del juego ), la historia no es la mejor pero lo que más veo que fallo es el guión no la historia. el balanceo de botiquines y munición es malo pero aun así funciona, si lo juegas en altas dificultades o modos diferentes esto deja de ser un problema, micro transacciones(las pueden ignorar pero si están rotas si las usas).

    En resumen es un juego OK y diría que sí vale la pena jugarlo por lo menos una vez para hacerte tu propia opinión, y terminar la trilogía junto a la historia de Isaack, es una lastima lo que le pasó a visceral games y a pesar de que cometió errores en el 3 muchos no se los perdonaron y por eso no hay y posiblemente no habrá más Dead Space nunca más, y si EA metió mano pero aun así se puede ver el cariño y el amor puesto en el juego por parte de VISCERAL GAMES.
    R.I.P. Visceral Games y Dead Space gracias por esos momento inolvidables que se te graban para una vida, sin duda crearon una franquicia inolvidable que ya esta con las grandes como Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Halo etc, gracias por todo.

    The first two parts were games about meditative and slow horror and atmosphere. The third part has become a more active shooter with not very successful crafting. Nevertheless, the history of the game itself remained excellent and revealed to its possible maximum. Although the game was obliged to give us the fourth part, but even so, it deserves a high rating for all its efforts.

    Dead Space 3 doesn't get involved with horror category like its first 2 prequels but it's definitely a huge potential for the next game in this series (in case EA released Dead Space 4 as it's been a while since they carried out the third one). But it's unreasonable to have the game started the same old ways as the other 2 and lasted its boredom for 8 hours fighting the same old necromorphs. From the middle to the end, there are changes in the game flow that actually rescue the whole game from causing players feel off the hook. The DLC has made itself an enormous failure for revealing the true enemy's identity of the Earth who had been designed to look like a serial killer (or at least a butcher), which mostly makes no sense to what the whole series have tried to established for the existence of this franchise. Fortunately, the last rise in the plot flow at the end of this DLC lifts up the expects of most players for the next franchise.
    Game-play and characters designs are quite fascinating. EA did make a huge innovation in the weapons upgrade bench, which opens variety of paths for players of completing missions. What nearly kills the game-play is its game mechanics. Sometimes it's difficult to lift or move objects with the telekinesis module and enemies' AI is quite low in some cases of spaces with many open doors.
    The biggest development EA has applied on to this franchise is music. The SFX and theme are totally stunning, lively and thrilling and what EA does the best is putting them at the right moments in the story flow.
    I gave it 8 since this franchise is as awesome as the first 2. The end of the game definitely opens a new future awaiting ahead of this block-buster series.    … Expand

    I'm not new to the franchise and I'm not saying its better than the other ones ,but it had some improvements, like the gun crafting, coop multiplayer ( even though it made the game less scarier that it even was)

    EA tried to force micro transactions on me, and it kinda ruined the experience until i downloaded a cheat engine and gave myself infinite resources so i wouldn't be forced to buy resources.

    I really enjoyed my time with this game. Is this game as claustrophobic as the first, classic entry to the series? Well, sometimes but not always. I feel that's because it is a much larger game, with a far greater scope, variety in environments, places to venture through, enemy types and weapons; it's a 17-18 hour game on the hardest difficulty and in order to sustain that it needs aI really enjoyed my time with this game. Is this game as claustrophobic as the first, classic entry to the series? Well, sometimes but not always. I feel that's because it is a much larger game, with a far greater scope, variety in environments, places to venture through, enemy types and weapons; it's a 17-18 hour game on the hardest difficulty and in order to sustain that it needs a variety of pacing to keep things fresh. Imho, it couldn't be 17 hours of dark, metal corridors with the occasional room for ambushes.

    Look at DS2, that was already moving towards a more traditional action packed adventure. Sure it starts off like 1 but soon Isaac starts talking and breaking out the odd wise crack and as the game goes on, the enemies and situations you encounter become repetitive. DS2 was an 11 hour game for me but I'd had enough by the 9th hour. It was just room after room of hordes of enemies. DS3 on the other hand never wore out it's welcome for 17 hours because of the variety. I still love DS2 in many ways but, for me, it ends up being my third favourite.

    DS1 is still my fave but 3 is a close second. I've played through 1 three times, 2 twice and 3 twice and if I was asked to play through one of the DS games again I'd choose 3 because there's so much variety. Oh, and I want to give special mention to three things not usually associated as being DS's main qualities.

    1. The way the lore is explained. Much of your exploration shows all the centuries old horror that has been taking place due to the markers and I felt like I was discovering and learning about some almost Cthulhu-esque intrigue. And no, it's not just done in notes found on desks. You see it in the demented scribblings on the walls, in the mission plans and research written on boards, in the objects in laboratories and meeting rooms, even on projectors.

    2. The side missions that all contain their own little stories about the various poor souls who have fallen to the necromorph menace, the missions had real character and often brought out real sympathy in me for the victims, even if they hadn't been great people.

    3. The music. The calm moments floating among the space wrecks above the planet's surface, knowing you'll soon have to delve back into those dark, dangerous corridors, are made even more hypnotic thanks to an almost Alien music score. The quality of the ambient tracks is also great throughout the rest of the game.

    I'm not gonna say you'll love it for sure, but this game came out at a time when EA was at it's most hated and I can't help but feel that slightly skewed of lot of people's sentiment. It must be easy to pick up cheap now so I'd encourage anyone to give it a go if you have any interest in the series. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.    … Expand

    I liked Dead Space 3. I liked the environment, the story progression, the characters even the combat system. I'm not a hardcore horror fan and perhaps that is what sets me apart from a lot of the reviewers here. That being said Dead Space (1) and Fear (1) are games that I will always remember fondly. Hell, even Alien Isolation was a blast and that is truly a horror survival game as your main way of surviving is run and hide (and whimper). But that is where I draw the line - zombies and angry puppets just don't do it for me.

    I like FPS, I like a good story, and I like (good) sequels). For me the Dead Space trilogy delivers on all fronts. To me each game felt connected, yet had unique play style (which is a good thing). Not only that but you get a sense of the character evolving. From a nerdy mechanic **** his pants in DS1 to a tired and jaded veteran in DS3 whose approach to dealing with enemies is a lot more confident (as it should be having killed thousands or tens of thousands of them already).
    I agree that the universal clips which you can easily craft at any bench did water down the thrill of the combat somewhat, but I'd be lying if I said that I don't enjoy blowing up enemies up close with my home-made missile launcher (brings back memories of Doom 2).

    As for the story, I am tempted to compare it to the Mass Effect games. Not that it's anywhere nearly as complex or rich as the ME story, but the story progression in both franchises is done really well in my opinion. Specifically in Dead Space each games pulls back the curtain a bit more, making you realize the truth is much worse than the previous game's ending suggested. Though Dead Space 3 perhaps went too far in the hopes to pave the way for Dead Space 4, it still made sense. The writing is good and it left me wanting more.

    . Dead Space must be played with impossible mode to truly enjoy lt. Enemies are unpredictable and relentless at times.With all the tweaks (NVidia Inspector, NVidia control panel and Precision X ) the game now has higher frames and more than enough eye candy for me. Dead Space 3 with a shotgun how grand.

    I enjoyed DS1 despite the horrendous PC controls. And DS2 was even better, with most of the irritations of the original ironed out. With DEAD SPACE 3 the developers have adhered to the prevalent belief that more must be better and have expanded on most aspects of the game. With DEAD SPACE 3 the developers have adhered to the prevalent belief that more must be better and have expanded on most aspects of the game. The results are mixed but the game still packs a pretty impressive survival horror punch. DS3 continues to do what the previous two games did so well: it delivers a tense, claustrophobic experience with challenging, close-quarter combat and plenty of startling moments. The story is reasonable although perhaps not quite as convincing as the first two instalments. There are also a greater variety of environments this time, including the surface of an inhospitable frozen planet. The graphics are good, although I can’t say I noticed any real improvement on DS2 in this area. One of the most notable changes is the greatly expanded weapon construction/upgrade system, which allows you to create and customise your own weapons. The system works well but I found myself hankering for the simpler weapons of the two earlier games as they gave credence to the fact that Isaac is an engineer using basic tools to fight the necromorphs. The suits available can still be upgraded but there’s no dramatic change in this system over the previous games. Sadly Visceral decided to abandon the manual save stations used in 1 and 2 and have opted for a typical checkpoint system instead. Bad news for us PC gamers but par for the course these day. Overall this is another atmospheric and enjoyably stressful episode in the trials of Isaac Clarke. I hope there will be another.    … Expand

    Game companies can't win sometimes, I swear. Had this been a carbon copy of 1 or 2, people would complain about that. Step back and look at Isaac's evolution. He's not an engineer anymore, terrified of taking a single step but logical enough to know he has no choice. He's the most experience necromorph slayer in the universe.     These are among the best games I've played in my 25 years of gaming. Great story, great gameplay, scary as my worst nightmare (especially if you max the difficulty), and just so incredibly fun to play. The only reason I'd give this one a 9 is because I do think they could have done a little better with where and when necromorphs attacked, and some of the boss battles were a bit too repetitious for me.    … Expand

The weapons parts can be combined in nearly infinite ways and specific parts work well with other parts, others not so well. There are bar graph indicators that should predict how fast or powerful a combination of parts will be but "fast" on one rifle frame is[NO SPOILERS, ONE HUGE CHEAT] This game is worth playing if only to experience the most advanced weapons-crafting in all of gaming. The weapons parts can be combined in nearly infinite ways and specific parts work well with other parts, others not so well. There are bar graph indicators that should predict how fast or powerful a combination of parts will be but "fast" on one rifle frame is different on another, even though the bar graph might be equal. So it falls in part to trial and error but that's not bad, it keeps your interest in trying newer and innovative combinations to achieve the ultimate rate of fire, or damage or capacity.

    Also of interest is that you must collect enough different resources, different metals and such, before you can begin crafting advanced weapons. By default the player will find one scavenger bot (you will be wise to search carefully for the other hidden two) that scavenge resources along with you. These scavenger bots are the only way to collect Ration Seals, a perk put in the game by the publisher that can be redeemed for the most powerful and exclusive weapons parts. These most powerful weapons parts result only by deploying your bots to scavenge as often as possible.

    And here's the cheat: the game is set up to condition you to only release the bots when you hear a sound cue signaling an area that is presumed to be rich in resources. But the fact is that the assignment of Ration Seals to any and every given area is completely random so it is safe and in fact wise to re-deploy your bots within minutes of their return from a scavenge mission, without regard to the sound cue. Only in this way will you receive a surplus of Ration Seals great enough to afford the most powerful weapons.

    IMO as a PC game, this installment is better than DS1 but not as good as DS2. The DS1 voice acting was rather wooden and, of course the protagonist never spoke at all. It was a poor port; even with the correct vSync settings the mouse still lagged noticeably.

    Here in DS3, they introduced some new and formidable necromorphs but chose a love triangle as the central sub-plot and took the whole feel of the game into the realm of Michael Bay/Mission Impossible, a realm that often made my eyes roll but nothing is perfect . IMO DS2 was the best overall but this one is still a lot of fun and well worth playing, especially these days when it is priced under $10.    … Expand

The story and game itself aren't scary really but I never found the first two scary, i mean...it's a video game, right? The story has however become much more complex (a little convoluted and some plot holes) and grandiose. You could argue more generic but it still fun to play and figure out what's going on.

    The bench system and building your own weapons is incredibly rewarding, although probably about 1/2 way through the game you'll likely find the right gun combo/formula that will make the remainder of the game somewhat easy. (I'm playing again on impossible and not having much trouble at all with my 2 favorite guns).

    The visuals have improved significantly and the zero gravity elements went from incredibly annoying (DS1) to some of the most fun and exciting elements of the game. The suit mechanics changed, I wouldn't argue for them being better or worse just different.

    Altogether I had more fun playing this one than both DS1 and DS2.    … Expand

    There's nothing wrong with this game, it is still as good and as scary as its predecessors. It is much more of an action, shooting gallery than Dead Space 2, however that didn't spoil the game for me at all.

    Really recommend this if you loved DS and DS2, or if you're just a horror/survival genre enthusiast.

Where it suffers is boring grinding battles (especially side-quests), extremely long fetch quests, and a lot of the level traversal mechanics feel the same.     This time EA did it right. Dead Space 3 is better than the previous one. And it should be rated higher not lower because of a reasonable difficulty. You can always feel free to play it hard if you like the challenge. The gameplay in Dead Space 3 is greatly improved. In overall Dead Space 3 is a mighty action horror adventure video game.

    I never played this game but I saw Xephos and Honeydew I was amazed at the quality of the monarwe models and the way that the sunlight reflected off the walls and the way that the space just seemed so... dead.

    Now the only thing that kept me playing this game was the weapon crafting system. I can only say it's probably the best weapon crafting mechanism I've ever experienced. It was truly genius. It gets even better if you're crafting with your co-op buddy, since you can exchange awesome weapon ideas. Honestly, I probably spent a good 20% or more of the time at the crafting bench, just fiddling around trying to make the most badazz weapon. If I were to be truly honest, this game should have been called "weapon crafters" because that's how much I enjoyed the weapon crafting.

    I gotta admit the weapon crafting system has a bit of a learning curve, and it was overwhelming to learn at first so me and my partner just completely ignored it for like half a chapter of the game.

    Bottom line, I would recommend this game only if you've got a co-op buddy. Story is also more complete that way. Single player seems like something is missing.    … Expand

I really did like the fact that I no longer had to purchase suits like in previous games; as often they were stupidly expensive, and in the long term would often get you killed just because they sent you broke. The whole experience revolves around flexibility and customization. I'll admit that personally I enjoyed the plot line, but I see why people didn't like it as much, as it can be a bit unengaging.

    I haven't managed to play too much of the co-op missions, but from what I can tell so far by it is that it really brings a new experience to the table. But for those just looking for the "classic" dead space feel, this game really delivers, with fast paced action scenes, a whole new array of enemies to fight, and with this new customized weapons system a whole new level of strategy in order to survive.

    I really enjoyed the additional missions which they added as an option. You really get to explore the world left behind by the previous human that were here on the planet and dive right into other narratives, whilst also picking up a new set of incredibly valuable parts for later constructions.

    If you played the previous games, and are looking for another thrilling experience, this is definitely a must.    … Expand

    Dead Space is one of my favorite franchises. I've enjoyed all three games. They have their differences and play styles, but overall it was a great experience. Coop and weapons crafting was a nice addition. Also, Dead Space 3 is one of the most visually stunning games I've ever seen. The micro transaction portion of the game is my only complaint, but other than that, it's a blast!

    Graphics and audio are solid in my opinion. Gameplay is easy to understand. The only thing that I didn't get right away was making weapons yourself, but you'll figure that out soon enough.
    Weapon making is a fun bonus, that gives you plenty of ways to kill the enemy.

    I played every sidemission except 1 or 2, and the game took me 21 hours to finish, not counting reloads of course.

    The only thing that bugged me a little was the save system: it uses checkpoints, though it also saves when you quit the game. Problem is that though it saves the game upon quitting, it only seems to save your inventory, location wise I seemed to be set back a bit. This isn't a major problem, and didn't spoil the gaming experience.

    A nice touch is the locator device that shows which way to go, makes it a hell of a lot less frustrating.

    So all in all this game is about an 7,5 to an 8    … Expand

    Never played the previous dead space games but I enjoyed this one. I find it thrilling, engrossing, and fun. Reminds me of how I felt watching the movie Aliens for the first time back in the 80s. Worth every penny I paid.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game certainly isn't as good as the first two, but definitely not the 5/10 everyone seems to think. I thought it was a 7.5 but I'm rounding up to an 8 for this review. The gameplay is definitely Dead Space. I went into this game unsure of how it would play due to the crouch/roll/sprint additions. However you still slow down aiming in, reloading is the same, guns feel the same, etc. Crouch and roll are kind of redundant; I really never found myself crouching, and I did use roll but not all that often. The weapon crafting system is easily the best part of the game with enough combinations to keep you occupied through multiple playthroughs (if you so desire). Even though the gameplay and crafting are good, the game has obvious flaws. The characters are EXTREMELY generic and the story is predictable. I anticipated Ellie's new boyfriend dying the second he was introduced. Also, if you aren't doing co-op, you barely ever see Carver. Some of the heart-to-heart conversations Isaac and Carver have are a 10 out of 10 on the cheese factor, with the cherry on top being cheesy background music. The game doesn't explore Carver's character beyond face value which is a huge fault of the writers. I played most of the game on co-op except for the last level. My friend and I played on hard and it was really easy; only died a handful of times. But after I started playing solo, I noticed how much more difficult it was. Dead Space is known for gradually increasing the difficulty of the game as you progress further and further, and assuming you are playing solo this one is no exception. However if you're doing co-op, it's honestly a cakewalk... The story was okay, but also disappointing. This was supposed to be the game that explained everything. It did, but just in a very disappointing way. I found myself saying "really, a network of moons?" as if that was the best they could come up with. The first two games built up to this one and it really didn't deliver in that regard. But to be fair, most games/movies/whatever that fall into the same pattern of relying on an iteration to explain, all at once, a lot of mystery that was introduced previously do tend to be disappointing. So despite all these cons, why am I still giving this game such a high score? Because I can overlook its faults and recognize what it does right. The gameplay is solid which is an important aspect. I cannot say enough good things about the ingenuity of the crafting system. It gets harder and harder just like the first two. This game clearly is not a survival horror game and should not be treated as such; it is an action game with horror/suspense elements. The other two were the reverse, and I think that angered a lot of players. So when you analyze it on its own terms for what it is, the game REALLY isn't as bad as everyone says it is.… Expand

    La historia cruza por ciertos obstáculos en el trascurso del tiempo, dando una sensación de exceso de explicaciones con demasiados giros, aunque todo al final encajará perfectamente. El planteamiento del romance es algo frío y no se profundiza demasiado. Me hubiera gustado que el triángulo amoroso llevara al jugador en una trama mas compleja y que se involucrara sentimentalmente.
    DEAD SPACE 3 llega para quedarse con una calificación personal de 8.5 totalmente recomendado para comprar y jugar con un excelente cooperativo.

Replay Value kicks in when you finish the game and you can replay with your last game items. The Cooperative addition really does add on alot of value. For me at least. In addition, the coop adds in tones of reply value, only down side is due to the cool weapon customization system the game can get rather easy; on the flip side if its too easy for you just make your weapons worse and your good to go.… Expand

    I'm on my third playthrough (first with coop). This game is amazing. I loved the first two and the story/plotline is amazing if you can figure it all out. The coop is an awesome addition and it is really fun with a friend!

    I went into this game with a lot of trepidation based on the mixed reviews. Love the first two, and while this is short on the horror aspect, it's a fantastic game in its own right. Long, tough and fun throughout.

Combat is still stressful with many necromorphs taking to running and/or being thrown at you in packs, rather then one by one, now trying to get in your face even more then they already were. The detail is also amazing.. but that doesn't make a game. Story wise... Well the DLC "Awakened" was much better I gotta say.. Main characters seem, distant throughout the story, their development rushed and their impending "crash" all too expected and hurried along. At least in Awakened we got the audio logs and notes from those as everyone started to kill each other and fall apart, see them cut themselves and go mad, FEEL the human element again, realize that people are being hurt by this.. Even the main characters became so much more, REAL.. Rather then just talking to you at checkpoints, there's rather constant chatter between them, keeping each other updated, LIKE PEOPLE WOULD BE DOING. In most of the regular game, I often felt like the characters were tools for moving you along in the plot, yet the heart was, there enough to make you feel like you were watching a movie.. Still though, I found myself replaying levels for fun, honing my skills and trying to earn the parts I needed to add another gun to the collection. The online community is generally very friendly, so it's worth mentioning. I must stress however for those craving horror, Awakened IS the way. Many complain of it's shortness and enemy's, "cheating", even the reused map segments, but here's the truth. It's short, yea, but it's GOOOOOOD. The human element is back, and it's scary as HELL. DS3 had a noticeable lack of hallucinations, but the extension was ripe with them, and if a nightmares being able to teliport, causing you to panic in claustrophobia, or multiplying when you kill them, making you fearful if your actions are meaningless, or a boss that follows you throughout the game, popping in every so often to say "hi, how's it going? Like how you can't hurt me? No? How about my causal stroll as I come ever closer before vanishing?", if this is cheating, then horror games just ain't for you. (Sigh) Overall? If you like Dead Space, get it, you're not gonna be disappointed, but cross your fingers and make sure EA gets the point about this being a horror game. Help fund Dead Space 4 and making sure it'll make your skin CRAWL (PS- The reused map segments are as if they were trying to say "hey, you won, now RUN THE FK AWAY" The landscape has been remodeled, making it look like it's the fking apocalypse, and the white snow is crimson as your hallucinations kick back in, so you'll hardly even notice with the map's new fresh coat of blood EVERYWHERE. The whiteout has also been doubled, so, uhhhhhhhhhhh)… Expand

    I've played Dead Space since the first. My port is the PC.

    Dead Space 3 has proved to be my favorite. I felt the story was strong and the characters intriguing. I've heard other players saying it's not like the previous two installments, that it is more action oriented.     My issues with this game are small but not irrelevant. The game makes everything a slug fest and lots of bullet sponges in the game. The crafting system is decent but much of the game play is dumbed down compared to its predecessors. That said the game is still Dead Space and makes a logical conclusion. Playing this series back to back reveals a deep story that is well told. While I found 3 to be fun its not a total cake walk. The biggest issue for me is the lack of strategy, especially in the later parts of the game. While it is a fitting conclusion to the trilogy, one is left with the hope that Dead Space 4 will be more survival and horror and less survival.

    All in all I would say that if you can accept the the story will progress logically with the desperation disappearing a little in each game it will make the story more understandable. To not follow the progression of the story will lead to disappointment. Personally I really liked the game but the game play itself was altered in a way that was not as much fun as the predecessors but was still fun.

    Also the DLC, while short, is the real ending that should have been in this game. While there is a feeling of conclusion you have to wait until the 20 some minutes of credits roll to know that the ending is not the ending and leads to the Awakened DLC. The Awakened DLC should have been the ending in the game, not what was in the base game. In many ways the DLC redeems the game and sets, in a significant way, the setting for Dead Space 4.    … Expand

    I thought this was a pretty good game, good story, good graphics, cool customizable weapons, and freaky looking aliens, controls were good. The voice acting was superb, the story was engrossing and even the text logs captured my attention. The cut scenes don't bog the game down. The quick time events are fun. And the game can be mastered. Right now I'm working on the hardcore mode where if you die, you have to start over... from the beginning. While some complain the monsters are too tough, the fact is I can get almost to the snow suit without even dying once. You just gotta stop shooting mindlessly, keep your cool and take careful aim at the limbs. Use your stasis liberally and you will see how this game teaches you to become an excellent shot. Pay attention to your scavenger bot radar too and put them down in the prime spots and your weapon upgrades you build with the resources will make you king of the hill. I personally liked the scavenging part a lot. It's a big part of the game and if you like that kind of thing, you will rake in the resources and find you can get some seriously powerful weapons. If you try to stick to the main path and avoid the looking around, the monsters will overcome you because you're using weak weapons. Obviously by my score, you can guess I like this game, but this is honestly the best shooter I've played. Ever.… Expand

    for me i hate to play solo and i always buy games with coop, there is not a lot of great games out there for coop but dead space 3 is for the win ive played with my friend for 7 hours yesterday and we had so much fun

    It may not be the best in the series, but it is a perfect ending to the series. Glad to see DS4 get cancelled as this is where the game needed to end. EA's micro transactions can be completely ignored and do not affect the game at all, and even if it is a 3rd person shooter, it was only the next logical step in the series given the games story.     This is an awesome game, the game was lengthy enough. There could have been a little more of a variety in monster to fight and ways to kill those monsters. Cinematic scenes was cool. The overall game play was really good.

    So, in Dead Space 3, we got more action, more exploration, more weapon options (Oh how I love the weapon    I have scored the previous two Dead Space games a perfect 10 as they are, for me, the benchmark of true horror and action. No game has ever come close to scaring me, depressing me or entertaining me quite like Dead Space (I was hoping Aliens Colonial Marines was a contender).

    So, in Dead Space 3, we got more action, more exploration, more weapon options (Oh how I love the weapon customisation) and more set pieces. The entire game plays out like a Hollywood summer blockbuster that has you glued from start to finish. I've heard some true fans say the horror is lacking and I will be honest, it is... but this is partly down to the planet environment 50% of the game is set on (no spoilers).

    Well, apart from the horror that is lacking, this is still a Dead Space game. The franchise has had to evolve and the horror that I think was so sinister and gruesome in the second could not be differentiated anymore. It is that simple! So, the game had to freshen up others wise, we would be playing Dead Space 2.5. They knew the series in that respect had gone has far as the material would allow so the change in emphases from horror to action was the only alternative and it was a big risk that paid off.

    Dead Space 3 requires attention. There are moments of pure silence where you stop and just stare as you float around the destroyed ships and spack stations. These moments are often visited after main missions have been completed and they break up the onslaught of killing enemies. They are needed and they are a great diversion as they offer weapon upgrades, parts, optional missions and even some missions where a coop friend can just jump in for a one off mission. I literally found myself saying "that's a good idea" on more than one occasion and I respect a developer that takes time to offer any kind of replay value with extra missions and looting (provided they don't feel tact on).

    All in all, product value; Dead Space 3 took me around 18 hours to complete on medium difficulty. I died a handful of times, completed all optional objectives (the one near the end regarding the expedition dig was amazing and for the optional missions alone I would have paid a DLC fee), and went back for weapon upgrades in hidden and previously locked areas which was worth it. I paid £22.99 for this on release day as it was on sale and it was worth every penny. One day I may even revist this game....    … Expand

    The crafting system is amazing and addictive, it's so much fun experimenting. You know that when you're making a new weapon or tweaking it a few times an hour they did it right. I was skeptical about them adding soldiers to fight with but I really gotta say it's an welcome change of pace. How many hours of necromorphs can we fight without expecting EA to add a different dimension of enemy, I gotta say the soldiers are a welcome addition. EA has fixed some of the frustrating issues plaguing the previous games like making the zero-g space areas easier to navigate and placing more oxygen tanks around just in case. Also universal ammo is a good thing, it would be impossible for the crafting system to work without it.

    In closing DS3 is at its core still DS, its lost that atmosphere but lets face it DS1 and DS2 really set the bar at the ceiling. EA has tried its best to add some new vigor into the series while fixing some haunting issues of the predecessors, overall this is still dead space it's not some game we've seen a million iterations of which mean its keeps a special place in my heart as a true DS fan!    … Expand

    The only flaws that exist in the game are its fetch quests, level design recycling, and lots of repetition in the puzzle elements. Everything else fantastic.     I really enjoyed playing through this game, the addition of co-op in my opinion added a lot of fun to the game and it does take away from fear factor but obviously you can play single player and then its just like the old games. The weapon crafting and upgrade system is really cool and there are many different possibilities. Choosing to play solo and not being able to complete the game with an 100% achievement record is just as annoying as paying for a game that doesn't really work in the first place. (i.e. Star Wars: TFU2 for PC and it's cut-scene perma-crash halfway through the game that's never getting patched.) Having artifacts and collectibles locked away and inaccesible to a solo player who made the decision to play the 'single player version' of the game, from the onset, makes me want to write this public review instead of finding someone to group with. "...Just move the missing collectibles back into the solo game or de-list them from the overall game achievements. Consider solo and co-op 2 different and distinct games all together, simple."
    Lastly, Ellie. What can I say. But, for one of the main reasons to push on through to the end and try to save the day, in Dead Space 2, with that rare but endearing Kyle Kataarn/Jan Ord (SW: Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast) relationship being hollowed out from the start of Dead Space 3. She immediately lost her "Peng" factor both in graphical display and story. I just couldn't bring myself to care if she made it out of any particular predicament, in the later chapters through to the end of the game, or not. Honestly, the entire cast didn't strike a single cord. "They were there, then they were gone. Ah well, shoot and scoot." All that being said, I still give Dead Space 3 a solid 8 out of 10 for my opening comments but wonder if a future Dead Space 4 can make things right for me or kill the franchise, in my eyes. (Customizable suits mix and match from available list, texture and color choice would be a nice addition for DS-4.)    … Expand

I found the gameplay very strong with the usual great Dead Space combat mechanics, a great weapon and armor upgrade system and some enjoyable minigames. Watching the story unfold was also griping and, yes, I am a sucker for a love story, even in a space horror game. Space walks look amazing in 3 dimensions a really immersing experience. I finished the game yesterday and it left me satisfied, especially the ending. Well done EA. The visuals are pretty intense and I don't even want to know what the texture budget was. There are some minor plot holes and some surprises, but I couldn't help feeling that some of the plot seemed ripped out of the Mass Effect or Halo series. Its got all the hallmarks of a "massive race intent on harvesting all life and wiping the galaxy clean". Its passable for a single game but it leaves one to wonder how it will damage the series as a whole. As for gameplay, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Coop partner and I would cover each other through many events. The coop missions, which have one player hallucinating and seeing out-of-place objects, was a very nice touch. "Dude, do you see the presents and birthday cake!?" "Um... no... I see a crate... with blood on it. Its like every other crate we've seen" "So you don't also see the big banner that says 'happy birthday'?" "Nope." It is a conversation I will not soon forget. As far as the bench system is concerned, it is a nice touch but I found myself wanting more suit upgrades. The weapons are very customizable but the suits upgrade are pretty basic. For anyone wondering, the suits themselves are cosmetic only and have no effect on the game. Suit upgrades transfer between suits automatically. The one downside of the bench system is that in coop games, one partner may find themselves waiting on the other. A more user friendly interface for the bench (showing all upgrade menus, etc.) at once would've streamlined the process.

    I will admit that the space interior and exterior environments in the first half of the chapters were the best in the game. Aside from the fact that half of the crew must have spent most of their lives in the many elevators (loading screens) in the game, it all felt connected and that you were actually in a game world. The planet side chapters often felt disconnected even though there was no clear cut-off or drop-in moment aside from when you arrive. I could have done without the rappel mountain sequences. If they would have made the entire game take place in space, I wouldn't have minded.

    As far as difficulty (on normal), in coop it didn't seem insurmountable except for one long occasion in the second to last chapter when waves of enemies pour in. However, that same room/environment is reused three times in that chapter so the attack doesn't come as a surprise. The last chapters reuse a lot of the environment and feels a little rushed.

    For the record, I was also not a fan of the last boss. It seemed nearly identical to the last boss in Mass Effect 2. Big boss, weak points, and done. I don't want to penalize the entire game though for one weak boss considering I was pleased with a majority of the game.

    For this PC version, I will say I'm not a fan of Origin but it isn't very bothersome in this game and I've learned to loathe it less. EA has made some good strides in recent years, but they seem to be spending too much on games and betting too much at the Craps table. That argument applies to Dead Space 3 as well. The game has incredibly high productions values, but it makes you wonder where they could have walled the garden a bit more and spent less. Betting that your game will sell more than five million copies to turn a profit is a tough sell. I hope they will continue with their plans for a Dead Space 4 (albeit reign it in) and retain coop but only time will tell.

    It's a mix of EVENT HORIZON, THE THING AND ALIEN RIDLEY SCOTT. I take back anything stupid that I said about this game. Is unique. There is a variety of levels and Gameplay modes. Playing on IMPOSSIBLE is really hard. If you don't go for the farming glitch. But even with the farming itens glitch it is still a great expectation.    Man I am in love with this DS3 so far.

    It's a mix of EVENT HORIZON, THE THING AND ALIEN RIDLEY SCOTT.

    I take back anything stupid that I said about this game.

    Is unique.
    There is a variety of levels and Gameplay modes.

    Very immersive and graphics on PC VERSION are something like NEXT GEN. If you turn off your V SYNC ON in game and turn it on NVIDIA or ATI control panel you will see how good is that. FRAME RATE is everything. The story is passable, but it doesn't interfere at all on your immersion.

    I just loved the variety of stuff that you can do, and the craft weapons are pretty good though.

    The best thing is to play this SOLO. CO OP seems to be pretty easy and takes off every exile sensation that we had on DS1 and DS2.

The over the shoulder viewpoint, which was initially criticized, was brilliant. From that vantage point you did just see what was happening. You saw what was happening TO YOU. DS3, as is so typical, just couldn't keep up with the first and second parts of the trilogy. It is a very good game, but the story line is contrived, the alien monsters just aren't as scary, and quite frankly, the game is pretty easy compared to the first and second. I enjoyed it and absolutely hate to see the end of a great trilogy, but as with most others, I was left feeling a wee bit disappointed. Overall, good game, a solid 8.     What a game! A great 3rd installment with parts that actually made me jump. However this game lost its final mark due to the gun making idea: circuit boards etc. were a concept I didn't quite grasp when playing the game. But that is me trying to find a flaw very carefully. I really urge you to buy this game it is very good buy buy buy

    just because the game isn't a carbon copy of the first two games doesn't mean its bad the game, the game really holds its own in the series as a game just as cool, and for most levels just as scary

I think this 3rd Dead Space game needed changes otherwise it would just be the same formula all over again. Seems to me the developers did a smashing job of keeping what was really great about the other 2 games and adding in new aspects.

    There were more problems than usual with some glitches, like not being able to pick up ammo or some other things. I recommend not getting the voice "personalities" for the bots it gets really annoying after a while and it's like they never shut up sometimes.

    Considering they made this game in 2 years, compared to Aliens: Colonial Marines" five years well, they did an amazing job. And the Co-op is well implemented thanks Visceral for another great effort, much appreciated !

    Story was okay for me, ending too this is one of the best games I've played this year not sure what people are complaining about. I wonder sometimes if some gamers are becoming way way too demanding and critical jeepers Stop the whining and enjoy this game already :D     … Expand

I never felt that the game became repetitive like some reviews suggest, and I'm guessing it's because you backtrack a few times to access areas you could not access before. For me that gives the feeling of accomplishment, that I have progressed enough to achieve what was needed to access a new area. There are plenty of interactive "things" to do in-game that help keep monotony at a minimum. I even read a few reviews that complained that some doors took too long to open. That's just ridiculous, play the game and you'll see why I say that. The more reviews I read the more I start to think this new generation of gamers has an ADHD issue.

    So do yourself a favor and play it yourself and come up with your own conclusion. My expectations were low from reviews I had read and I was surprisingly blown away by DS3. So far this is easily my choice for GotY. Thank you Visceral Games for creating such a great game. Too bad you weren't the ones to develop Aliens: Colonial Marines.    … Expand

It's been developed with co-op very much at the forefront. This creates a myriad of small issues in regards to the single player. The negative impact is much less than FEAR 3's implementation though. Visuals are quite good, attention to detail is very high in the world and cut scenes. Environmental variety and snow setting is a good choice for the series There are a few jump scares, some great space exploration.     I ran into a few bugs here and there, but altogether it was a solid play-through. The whole unification of ammo thing seems to have oversimplified things. Maybe bringing it down to 2 ammo supplies, like regular/explosive might have been better, but hey, overall, it left me digging through my inventory less. Which brings me to my next point: Having unlocked all the slots in my inventory twice in the previous games, I was happy to start with all my sockets open.

    I found the entire crafting system extremely fun, and wound up using much more weaponry than in previous games, especially thanks to the ability to craft a second weapon onto most guns.

    And regarding the in-game purchases... I made it through an entire game never thinking I was missing anything. I had plenty of resources, and more-than-adequate circuit-upgrades. Let people with extra money laying around spoil themselves if they want, but it didn't detract anything from the game.

    To summarize, and reiterate my first point: An excellent addition to the series, with strong and (for the most part) well-varied game-play. The story was surprisingly captivating, and the characters, while overbearing at times, were surprisingly relatable. They even had me as angry as Isaac at one point atop the mountain.    … Expand

    The complaints about boring, repetitive side missions in DS3 are completely unwarranted. Each mission offers great nuggets of the DS story, and all of them feature custom VO work, unique combat situations, and in some cases other little gems. They aren't any more repetitive than all Dead Space games are repetitive; yes, you're going to be shooting necromorphs while traversing corridors... that's what every one of these games has been about, and Dead Space 3 doesn't change that.

    If you came to Dead Space 3 expecting a different game, you came with bad expectations; Dead Space 3 is just as much Dead Space as the first two games. There are some great jump scares, fantastic zero-G areas to explore, some messed-up new enemies, and more Unitologists screwing everything up. However, Visceral has really streamlined the ammo and upgrade systems in this game, and thrown in something more complex, but also more fun.

    The ability to gather resources to craft different weapon combos is awesome. There are in-game purchases available to boost your resources, but these are completely unneeded as the game throws plenty of resources your way. In fact, I was able to buy two of the DLC resource packs (the normal pack and the "elite" pack) using currency that I found in game before I finished it! Being able to create your own weapons truly allows you to play the game as you see fit, whether it's up close and personal or as far away as possible.

    I should mention that all of my experience was from playing the game solo, which works almost perfectly in DS3. There are a couple awkward moments that were obviously intended for co-op, where your partner is next to you one second, then suddenly somewhere else, but those are few and far between. In addition to it's side missions, DS3 also offers co-op only missions, so there is no shortage of content whether you want to play alone or with a friend.

    In summary, DS3 is everything that was great about the first two games, with a bit more action and a focus on customization. It's still scary, it's still brutal, and it kicks the action up to a whole new level with it's crazy ending. I can't wait to play it with a friend.    … Expand

    -I don't understand people saying that DS3 is any different than DS1 or 2. It's not really anymore of an action game than it adding more elaborate action sequences here and there, which by no means are placed in a way that constantly interrupts the gameplay. DS1 was scary for about the first couple hours until killing monsters became a natural and simple process, there were no more scares to be had. If your idea of scary is a Disney park ride where arbitrary props pop out of the walls to scare you, then you need to go ride those some more and put down your controller. The only thing that makes any of these games "scary" is the slight adrenaline rush received by having to kill swarms of weird moving monsters before you get surrounded and mutilated. I'm sorry but after 3 installments of the game, even if DS1 had anything resembling scary it would have worn off by now for returning players, which is precisely why DS3 does not try to scare and instead throws more monsters at you. -Yes ammo management is less of a pain. If you like scrounging for ammo, they have a game mode for this. Yes there are many powerful weapons which can make it easier. If you like just simple weapons, there is also a game mode included for this. If you played the game on anything other than impossible, you should also put down your controller, none of the DS installments were incredibly difficult even on the hardest setting, especially with a mouse/pad instead of a analog stick at your disposal. -For me Dead Space was about the shooting aspect which DS3 delivers more so than any of the previous ones. It's really just a logical step forward from DS2 same as DS2 was to the original. They took the existing concepts and added on top of them. More items, more weapons, more monsters (but many of the same ones as well), a bit more story and a bit more action sequences. And that's not to say the action sequences felt alien to the rest of the gameplay, they felt very fluid and tied very well into the rest. DS3 still captures the remoteness of space, the feeling of claustrophobia, the sterile and industrial approach to space stations that DS1 and 2 had.
    -DS3 allows you to backtrack more which is an attempt to make the game feel less linear, which it accomplishes as well as one could expect for a game that does not try to be a RPG. It also accomplishes making the various space stations and locations you visit seem real, and the scenarios Isaac encounters also more realistic. You can space jump and explore the outside of the space station, for example. -DS3 still offers the hallway crawling and zero-G experiences DS1 and 2 had. You still chop limbs off of the enemies, you still prioritize targets and you still have to watch your back. It's not incredibly difficult but it's enough to avoid being over tedious, while still offering enough of a challenge to keep you interested. YMMV if you play on any mode other than impossible. I suspect many of the reviewers here giving DS3 negative reviews did not play it on impossible.
    -DS3 DOES NOT COMPARE IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM TO THE DEBAUCLE OF THE LATEST RESIDENT EVIL. Anyone attempting to argue this in their review should offer you an immediate clue to skip their review; they are stupid and their reviews are stupid. The differences between DS3 and previous installments also are not analogous to the differences between RE6 and 5. In fact it's almost the opposite of what everyone is complaining about.
    -Bottom line: Dead Space cannot continue to be "scary" to returning veterans, it's a futile and impossible venture. Once you get used to the monsters popping out in front of you, it stops being scary. Once you get used to slaying necromorphs and playing with their dead bodies, they are no longer scary. DS3 attempts to keep you glued to the seat via fast paced shooting, fast paced action, rolling gameplay that does not feel choppy or inconsistent. -If you enjoyed becoming better and faster at dispatching necromorphs, watching badguys meet their untimely end, and getting revenge on unitologists, then DS3 is the game for you. If you like cheap thrills which get boring after an hour of playing, I would tell you to go play DS1 but honestly even DS1 was never that either. Some people here complaining about DS3 should go back and play DS1 again and see that it's no longer scary. This is as much a Dead Space as the first or second. Do not be fooled.    … Expand

I'm a hardened DS veteran and those guys gave me the heebeejeebees. ---For those who complain that the game wasn't survival enough for you, or was too much this or that, Visceral/EA included "Pure Survival" and "Classic" modes where you can play by your own playstyle. The only problem with their implementation of these is that they are NG+ modes, and they should have been available as difficulties from the start. At least pure survival, since that's the most oft-read complaint about the newer DS games. "Too actiony!" they say. You can't be afraid of something you understand. Xenomorphs weren't scary after the first Alien film, so James Cameron gave us Aliens. DS2 was the Aliens to DS1's Alien, and now we have a departure and reimagining of many aspects of the game in DS3's "The Thing" (a la John Carpenter). They nailed it. My only gripes are with the autosave feature (I lost progress due to a poorly timed crash a couple times) and that the last couple chapters leading up to the end were a bit drawn out. The game might have been a bit punchier with 17 chapters instead of 19, but I'm not complaining. The final areas are visually stunning and anyone who thinks Visceral and EA were making "an easy cash grab" obviously don't understand the work that goes into making those amazing set pieces. I've met the devs and they poured their soul into this game, and it shows. 10/10 exceeded expectations. Would recommend and will play again.… Expand

The space sections are so much fun, especially in co-op, it isn't annoying like most other games. Keep it in space next time, or cut the planet bits to a similar time frame as dead space 1… Expand

    I don't know why all of the negative reviews this game is getting. Out of all of the Dead Space games i've played on PC, this one is extremely well ported to the PC. Their is a little more action, but they executed it PERFECTLY. I wish I could give this game a 20.

    So where to start. at the time of writing this review it is 3:51 AM. Why such a random time you ask well i just finished my second run of Dead Space 3 and am starting my third on Tuesday. I first did the game in single player and loved it. I found moments of great action and truly freaky times. The question is is it as good as the first one? This is a game that is polished to a mirror shine and has many great new features like different types of hacking mini games. Now the elephant in the room is the Co-Op and how is it? amazing i found my self constantly asking my friend what he was seeing as carver. also contrary to popular belief this is no DUDE BRO PARTY(extreme sarcasm intended). it is just as good if not better with a friend, but do single player first it makes the differences better. There is also no AI carver following you. with out a second person his roll in the game is that of cut scenes alone. Now i have read all the novels and played all the side stories so let me tell you this games story is great. My major gripe is not at the game at all it is with EA. three things bug me 1.Day one DLC 2 .lack of PC features and 3. ORIGIN, i mean if this were on steam i would be so much happier. oh sorry 4. ONLINE PASSES. i thought as a community we said that that did not fly but ea once again proves that they can do what ever and still come out Scott free. Any way make what you will but i am looking forward to play through #3 (and yes i realize what a hell of a first review that was don't sue me)… Expand

    This franchise is among my favorite in the entire industry. This first game was one of the scariest thing I've ever experienced and the second one was a great game but I did find my self scared a jump scare or two got me but that was it. This game had quite a lot of attempts at scare but, much like the second, not many got pass. This game had quite a lot of attempts at scare but, much like the second, not many got pass. The overall mood of the game is mildly tense in a scary way but there is a large amount tension in not knowing what is going to happen next. The mood of the game best shows through during solo play, save co-op for your second play through. Overall, much like the second game, it does less than stellar in the horror genre, unless you are easily gotten by jump scares. On the earlier mention not of co-op, it works great when you have no one in your game then there is no AI to follow you around leavening the feel of the game intact, rather than making you fell like a babysitter for your AI partner. The combat is as great as ever and the weapon crafting system is easy and one of the most fun this about the game can be making new weapons. If you like the old weapons than have no fear they all make a return. There is even a mode unlocked upon beating the game that is unlocked where you can only use those guns. Speaking of other modes there are 4 in total, not including new game that add in things that make the game more interesting, like hardcore where you have to play the game without dying once or pure survival where you must craft med-kits and ammo as you find none through. This helps to boost replay value even higher which is amassing considering that this games cut-scenes are short and none feel unneeded. The pacing of the story is great if you like to explore your game worlds, if not it might be a little slow, the last two chapters, out of the nineteen in the game, felt a little rush as the story accelerated towards the finale. Exploring is rewarded in this game with not only achievements but in game rewards every time you complete a set, which range from text log to weapon parts and even artifacts.

    So to summarize if your looking solely for a horror game then look elsewhere but that is not to say the game is not great. The combat and mechanics are great and work flawlessly. The atmosphere is mildly tense and will keep you guessing on what will happen next. the graphics and sound design are beyond stellar. Replay value is high.    … Expand
