    Glad to see EA have jumped on the System Shock bandwagon - though, in truth, I prefer this. It is certainly more like System Shock 2 than BioShock (which is very silly indeed) although both their stories don't hold a candle to SS2. Don't listen to the moaners about the conversion - there is really no problem (traditional WASD & Mouse control), and you get used to the movement Glad to see EA have jumped on the System Shock bandwagon - though, in truth, I prefer this.     Scary, damn scary. Well designed game. Yea. Just scary. Worth buying. Yea, I like it, sound is simply awsome, and visuals are what you'd expect. The over the shoulder thing is just a part of the game play. They've made it work really well, the menu interface and interaction is novel and works well with the overall them. Did I mention it's scary, if you like the horror Scary, damn scary. Well designed game. Yea. Just scary. Worth buying. Yea, I like it, sound is simply awsome, and visuals are what you'd expect.     Dead Space is an incredible game and a real surprise hit.You can clearly see the painstaking detail that went into creating it's menus, environment and character animations.This is probably the game with the highest production values that I've come across in recent times and just plays great. Plus I a have never seen such ridiculous amounts of gore like this, limbs fly all over the place and blood flows like water. On the difficulty side I'd say you'll have to play the game on Hard otherwise it might be slightly too easy. Talking about the length of the game well, I finished it in about 15 hours and I was taking my time. Replayability factor is definitely there though, because after you finish the game, you unlock some goodies for a second play through and also unlock impossible difficulty. Controls were a non issue for me, if you've played something like Mass Effect then you'll have a good idea of how it handles. In closing, Dead Space is a must play for any fans of gaming, particulary those that like a Sci-Fi horror setting .… Expand

    My favourite "next gen" game for pc, better than crysis warhead, far cry 2, Left 4 dead, you name it, awesome hard core sci fi story, scary as hell, satisfying weapons and the upgrade system makes it even more personal to play and you can keep the upgrades for a second and third playthrough. After finishing the game i immediately played through another 2 or 3 times because this game has My favourite "next gen" game for pc, better than crysis warhead, far cry 2, Left 4 dead, you name it, awesome hard core sci fi story, scary as hell, satisfying weapons and the upgrade system makes it even more personal to play and you can keep the upgrades for a second and third playthrough.     The controls are impressively functional - once you get the hang of them. Although, the storyline is by-the-numbers, it is a gripping and often surprising story. Oh yeah... it's scary as hell.

    This game is simply amazing, it has the same feeling and effect of bioshock only done better. The creatures are simply amazing and mad props to the guys in the sound department. THis game is how Doom 3 should have been done. And has set the bar for all survival, horor, and disaster games in the future :D i find that its amazing

    Man how can you say this game sucks. Yes maybe the camera angles are not that good but it rocks. This game has to be the best 3rd person shooter I have ever played. Scary as shit kept my on the edge of my chair the whole time. Love the monsters all of them esp the big ass one that has the ripped coat thats scary. Overall loved the game beat it 3 times and every time was better.

    This is seriously one of the greatest games ever made. And I think it has elements that will appeal to most every type of gamer. First, it's a FPS, and it does that well. The weapons are amazingly creative, and while some may be turned off by the lack of traditional weapons like grenades and rocket launchers; don't be! The game is also not really linear as there are oftentimes multiple ways to go and multiple missions to address. For people that like linearity, or if you simply get lost, there's a breadcrumbs option that highlights the route you should take. And I haven't had any issues with the controls--at any level. I find them to be intuitive and extremely responsive; I really have no idea what people are complaining about. This is really the perfect game. It's immersive, beautiful, addictive, very creepy, and it has elements that all types of gamers will love. The only downside is the activation DRM. But that's the idiot executives at EA's fault--not the developers or creative crew.… Expand

    I finish the game and now I'm playing it for second time and its really amazing, for me the best game of 2008. It has the elements to make a great horror history and for keep you playing to unlock new things.     In one word - AWESOME. I don't usally buy PC versions of console games because the experience is usually less than stellar but its nice to see EA making a commitment to quality in PC games. It looks and sounds great and is truly scary - turn the lights down and the volume up!

    Game was incredible... even thought at first I saw the third person and didn't like it I decided to give it a chance I am glad i did. It sounds like the people who didn't like it had issues adapting to the game play style.     This game is INTENSE, and scary - damn scary. It's hard to scare me, but this game had me jump a few times - It rocks! Definitely worth buying and playing over and over again.

    A great game, very intense all the way to the end. It is a scary game but you get used to all that scariness when you get used to the game. The missions are alot of fun and very inventive.     The controls are **** yes, but they are easy to get used to. I loved this game. The action was great, the satisfying feel of tearing apart an alien with your power boots with that scream is just unforgettable.
    As far as with the storyline, it's nothing breathtaking or amazing, but it definitely keeps you at the front (and, at the same amount, edge) of the seat until the last second of what happens.
    The controls will take some time to get used to, and by the middle of the game you'll be shooting aliens like it's cutting butter with a knife, and by the end, you'll be ready for Dead Space 2.    … Expand

    Still one of the best survival horror action games ever made. Only Resident Evil 4 can really beat it.
    In 2019 looses none of it's creepy and intense atmosphere. As others have said the sound design is outstanding all round but the graphics also still hold up IMO when all options are set to high. Plays well with keyboard and mouse too. An essential game for any horror fan.

Dead Space has shown me its that not that gaming is getting boring. Its just that in the few years we've be become inundated by a swatch of truly overpriced bad AAA games.     Although every chapter of this game makes me exhausted, I think it is one of the best games I've ever played. The selling point of this game is neither horror nor disgusting, but the combination of these two plus a very challenging style of gameplay makes dead space really a game that can really catch every nerves of the player. Sometimes, many necromorphs (your enemies in the game) suddenly come in your face when you just about to relax, and the producers really know how to make the players 'suffer'...and there are many technical object for you to complete, and some of them require you to work under zero gravity, where you even have to walk on the roof, and necromorphs may appears right in front of you, which really challenge your sense of dimension. Even in easy mode, the game is hard to play, thus makes me even more nervous when facing the necromorphs. The overall mood of the game is not too depressed, but there are so many things can scare you, and keep you nervous for every single second. The bonus is that you could even be more satisfied with your real life after playing this game, the reason is obvious. However, I don't recommend teens play this game, because it is too bloody and scary.… Expand

    The best survival horror game since the glorious times of the first three RE, this new brand has great future, DS 2 was awesome and improved what in the first game wasn't that awesome. This game is THE scary game of new generation.

    I hadn't actually finished OG Dead Space before. I had really loved the game, but just hadn't quite finished the overall game.

    After the anoceanment of the Dead Space remakeI felt inclined to go back and play through this. Man, this game has aged like a fine wine. Genuinely incredible what they managed to pull off here. A gamethat really doesn't need a remake (more a remaster if    I hadn't actually finished OG Dead Space before. I had really loved the game, but just hadn't quite finished the overall game.

The RPG elements of upgrading your suit and guns are fantastic because it emphasizes your specific playstyle. The only downside is that certain guns are more useful in situations than others, which means that you're pigeon-holed into always carrying certain weapons that you might not want to use (e.g. I can't find a way to efficiently defeat guardians without using the saw cutter, but I hate that gun in all other cases). Also, this game has a lot of gore- do not play in front of a sensitive crowd. People talk about the horrid controls, but I don't know what their problem is- I feel like any inefficiencies in controlling Isaac can be attributed to the fact that you are controlling an engineer, not a soldier- he's not going to be trained to perform perfectly in combat. That's the feeling I got from the controls. Other than that, this game has become one of my all-time favorites.… Expand

    Probably the best game I've ever played! I love the storyline, I love the atmosphere, I love the "look" of it, the graphics, the sounds.... It simply doesn't get any better than this... That should only be if they made it in first person view :)

    This game is awesome it's not really as scary as many people say but it's an awesome Survival Horror title you should pick it up if you like Survival Horror like games and it's pretty similar to Resident Evil 4 and the story is amazing and the graphics are not the best but it is a 2008 game.

    I picked this game up along with a couple others with the Humble Origin Bundle. And I have to say this game is probably the best of the three made so far! I should know I own all three. The way the game handles on keyboard is my only issue! And there may be a few puzzles that are harder to figure out. But, overall this was a really good game.     I was the best at that time the best graphics best horror game of this game, but I have a six-year-old cancer echinacea, out last more than a horror game seems to be the best warrior luck.

    It is the scariest game I've ever played! The graphics on the PC are very good, but the PS3 is a little less. Was one of the top 10 games I played on the PS3. Optimal difficulty where you must save all the time weapons ammo and use strategy when buying supplies and then not become more difficult to play. 10!

    Great game, full of scares, sound and atmosphere! Got it on Origin for free and was addicted to it after one hour! Got me 2 and 3 too, although the 3rd installation is a bit too heavy on the shooter side. But part one scared the **** out of me. One of the best games around!

    The story is quite interesting and takes through the different parts of the ships where you gather bits and pieces to solving the mystery of what exactly happened. Takes quite a while to go thrugh all the chapters but it's engaging, interesting and at no point repetitive.

    Graphics still hold up very nicely - the level design is very nice and there are just a few areas you will re-visit. The audio layer is amazing and gives a lot to the ambience. The thumps in the air ducts, the humming of machines and the echo of your footsteps. Makes your hair stand up.

    As far as mechanics go - this is somewhat of a 3rd person shooter but the array of weapons and the way you fight the enemies is not from a standard shooter. Most of the weapons are energy weapons each with its own distinguish ammunition. The way you use them against the necromorphs is you need to cut off their limbs rather than going for the classical headshots. This makes for a very interesting mechanic where the first thing you aim at are the legs - at least for the most enemies.

    Additionally you get a stasis power which lets you slow down the enemies affected by the stasis field which comes in handy with a bigger amount of enemies. There is a couple of different enemy types and most of them differ significantly from each other requiring a bit different approach which is really nice.

    The only problem I've had is that you can tell that the game was designed for console. And the sensitivity on the mouse changes when you go into aim mode and feels a bit sluggish. But its not very hard to get used to it and enjoy this great game.

    Мой вердикт - 9/10 за сюжет, 9/19 за геймплей и 8,7/10 за саму составляющую хоррора (если вы параноик и глаз у вас наметан - можно легко определить признаки засады и заподозрить, что лежащий впереди труп вовсе не труп))    … Expand

Today after all those years of selling my old ps3 and passing the ps4 generation into the ps5 and getting a high end pc and especially finishing almost all of the RE games out there, and playing other horror and horror survival horror games such as outlast and the last of us, dead space was on my steam library since the 2016 summer sale and i have told myself im going to play this game finally in 2021. The opening scene is stunning and really takes me back as a young teen living in his parents house playing the game on a 720p television (yes crt aka the fat ones from back in the day and today i have an ultrawide 1440p monitor for my pc setup lol), and it all just comes together and its still so beautiful. After progressing into the game im always telling myself that i cant believe that this game came out in 2008 and and all the graphics and mechanics and gameplay overall is so revolutionary that even the last of us part 2 with all its attention to detail havent managed to do a dismemberment like dead space did and heck even RE games havent developed or took any influence from this game and thats why RE for me feels inferior to dead space. but im also upset on to why im that there wont be a dead space anymore and its sad to see that glen and micheal havent made an horror game since the franchise. I would love to see something from one of them again and i heard michael is working on something. But overall Dead space is going to remain my loving horror survival game of all time and taking it as the number one spot.     Ho deciso di recuperare Dead Space solo ora, nel 2020, e quindi lo valuterò con un metro di giudizio attuale.
    AUDIO E GRAFICA: Dal punto di vista sonoro il gioco è buono ma non eccellente, diciamo che alcuni suoni sono migliorabili, così come la colonna sonora che non è particolarmente incisiva. Per quanto riguarda il doppiaggio, io l'ho giocato in italiano, devo dire che è    ITALIAN:

    AUDIO E GRAFICA:
    Dal punto di vista sonoro il gioco è buono ma non eccellente, diciamo che alcuni suoni sono migliorabili, così come la colonna sonora che non è particolarmente incisiva. Per quanto riguarda il doppiaggio, io l'ho giocato in italiano, devo dire che è ottimo tranne per un personaggio che è davvero pessimo.

    Graficamente invece il gioco è ancora davvero piacevole, nonostante siano passati 12 anni dalla sua uscita. Inoltre giocando su PC ho potuto attivare ReShade e cambiare delle impostazioni di Nvidia per rendere il gioco ancora più moderno. Così facendo ho potuto rimuovere il filtro giallo che ha il gioco (che non mi piace e lo trovo poco adatto), migliorare l'anti-aliasing, l'occlusione ambientale e ho aumentato il frame rate a 60 FPS.

    Estremamente moderno l'HUD del gioco, che è completamente assente e sfrutta indicazioni direttamente su armatura e armi per fornire al giocatore le informazioni necessarie.
    Inoltre l'inventario e la mappa saranno degli ologrammi interattivi, senza che mettano il gioco in pausa (cosa che è comunque possibile fare con un tasto).

    Gli unici piccoli difetti tecnici riguardano alcune animazioni, di cui si nota troppo l'inizio, e i cadaveri a terra che risultano troppo leggeri e soggetti alla fisica, generando un fastidioso rumore di strisciamento che fa pensare alla presenza di nemici.

    GAMEPLAY:
    Da questo punto di vista il gioco è ancora estremamente attuale, al punto che dovrebbe essere ancora preso come riferimento da molti giochi.

    Senza andare troppo nei dettagli, sono presenti molti fattori che permettono di creare situazioni diverse, rendendo il gioco estremamente vario nel gameplay e divertente da giocare.

    Le armi alla fine sono quasi un aspetto marginale, in quanto per completare i reali obiettivi avremo bisogno di sfruttare la fisica, rallentare oggetti e risolvere semplici enigmi, oltre alla presenza di bellissime aree senza gravità e a volte senza ossigeno.

    Il gameplay ha pochissimi difetti, come l'impossibilità di ricaricare le armi mentre ci si muove e i menu olografici che a volte non funzionano come dovrebbero.

    Va infine detto come, ad accrescere la componente horror del gioco, il salvataggio si possa effettuare solo in specifici punti (salvo qualche checkpoint automatico) e come l'inventario sia poco capiente (avremo bisogno dei rari "negozi" per liberarci lo zaino).

    STORIA:
    La storia non è particolarmente interessante, anche se in realtà bisogna distinguere quella del nostro protagonista da quella dell'equipaggio della nave che saremo chiamati ad aiutare.

    La prima è davvero irrilevante e anche quasi fastidiosa, in quanto è un semplice susseguirsi di problemi e soluzioni. C'è qualche colpo di scena ma i personaggi non hanno una storia e non sono abbastanza carismatici.

    Molto più interessante è invece la storia, o meglio la lore, che racconta gli avvenimenti sulla Ishimura. Ci capiterà infatti di raccogliere oggetti che racconteranno piccole parti della storia, oltre a dedurne altre parti osservando gli ambienti e assistendo ad alcune scene.

    In conclusione, il gioco è di una lunghezza giusta per il genere (tra le 10 e le 20 ore a seconda dello stile di gioco) e sa creare un'atmosfera di livello altissimo, in un periodo in cui gli horror si basano quasi solo su jump scare. Da giocare soprattutto per il gameplay, che non ha subito in nessun modo il passare del tempo.

Though the most scariest moments of Hellblade are more stressful and intense than the most scariest moments in Dead Space it is the later that more probably will leave its mark on your mental health. The thing is, Dead Space doesn't have many particularly scary moments - the whole game is one particularly scary moment. There wasn't a moment when I thought "Okay, now I am powerful enough to easily defend myself" - of course with time you obtain better equipment and better weapons but it doesn't help because the monsters also get stronger - so up to the very end you are afraid of any sudden movement or noise. The fact that the threat can appear literally from anywhere doesn't give you a chance to relax even for a little bit - the constant feel of danger doesn't let you go.

    Dead Space isn't just a scary game. Dead Space also is a good shooter with RPG elements, an interesting and intriguing story with great sound design. Everything here makes sense, everything feels right - no useless collectibles, no stupid sidequests. Dead Space certainly deserves a "must-play" badge on metacritic because in many ways it is a perfect sci-fi horror which didn't age much even 12 years later.    … Expand

After playing the following games with absolute fun, decided to play Glen Schofield's original masterpiece (as they called it). И конечно же самое главное незабываемая атмосфера игры, нагоняющая жуть и держащая в постоянном напряжении игрока, не дающаяИгра просто эталон хорроров леденящих кровь. Графика достойная своего времени, да и сейчас смотрится достаточно хорошо не вырви глаз. Интересный сюжет, хорошо прописанные персонажи которым реально сопереживаешь. Достаточно разнообразный геймплей для такого жанра. И конечно же самое главное незабываемая атмосфера игры, нагоняющая жуть и держащая в постоянном напряжении игрока, не дающая расслабится не на минуту, это бесценно)
    В недостатки можно добавить кривое и с плохой отзывчивостью управление на клвомыше. Но к этому несущественному минусу привыкаешь очень быстро, игра просто не даёт отвлекаться тебе на такие мелочи.    … Expand

    - Very interesting perks that you can obtain, which are stasis and kinesis. Stasis allows you to slow down motion to a crawl and kinesis lets you throw/move objects. They are implemented in a way that does not make the game broken.

    - The game makes you take out the limbs of the enemies, which makes the whole shooting experience more challenging and tactical.

    - Music is amazing. Combining loud and quiet orchestral instruments during the right situations puts you at the edge of your seat throughout the game.

    - There are parts of the game where you navigate the area in zero gravity, its pretty neat.

    Cons:

    - Nothing that comes to mind, really...

    Amazing horror game that never tries to ruin your fun, unlike last of us 2. Sadly they rarely make games like Dead Space anymore. Hopefully some kind of remake, reboot or remaster comes soon.

    It's a game that manages to work and balance the question of horror with action. For those who are familiar with games from the Resident Evil franchise, or derivatives, most likely will like Dead Space. It's definitely on the list of best survival horrors of the seventh generation (and it's aged quite well, by the way).    Frighteningly spectacular game.

    When I first heard about this franchise, I thought it was just a cheap Doom copy. Little did I know that this would become on my favourite franchises ever. The combination of good surround audio and visuals give the perfect horror athmosphere. The lighting techniques the developers have used make the game look good even by today standards.

    Образно говоря игра показывает что инженер это лучшая профессия не по специальности))) Главный герой будет по тихоньку сходит с ума.. Я играл с руссификатором и дубляжом Рекомендую ознакомится с данной франшизой    Лучший хоррор шутер который я играл.

    After watching some in-development gameplay for the remake, i'm extremely hyped. It's one of the best horror games ever made and deserves to shine with modern graphics (original holds up well too btw).
