Capcom doesn't support Xbox Play Anywhere, you cannot play the Campaign with Friends anymore and it now has another Multiplayer Mode, the Campaign can be finished in around 7 hours which makes it the shortest Dead Rising Game of all, it only includes one Ending now and other Endings will be provided via Season Pass DLC's, etc. etc.

This is my first Dead Rising. It used be another Xbox exclusive that I always wanted to play. I remember the first review I read (in a magazine in those times) and it sounded so freacking cool. And now, 14 years later i could finally play a Dead Rising game, I've been reading bad things about this one, but as it is my first one I just simply love it. Even tho this one is already 4 years old, it doesnt feel aged at all (maybe graphic wise, but, hey, who cares?) There are so many zombies, so many weapons, so many costumes and outfits, loads of cars and side quests and colectables, and "factions". Damn, is it fun. It's fun as hell no zombie pun intended.
This game taught me that in a zombie apocalypse literally anything can and SHOULD be used as a weapon. I mean ANYTHING, from the most common ones such as knives and baseball bats and shovels, all the way to this keyboard I'm using, or a framed painting, or my 5 bucks tripod, or a wet floor sign. And I should also combine stuff, like put broken bottles on the legs of the tripod to have a weird trident weapon. The story didnt ge me all that much, it sounded to me just as a holiday afternoom movie, like this is for you to have fun, not to overthink anything. But maybe this feeling is based on the fact that I dont know any character yet. But still i liked it. Frank West is totally THAT uncle (Tiozão do pavê), but in a good way.
Oh, and the version I downloaded it already had all DLCs, and minigames and everything else, wich makes it even better. The Capcom Heroes mode brings even more diversity and fun to the game, this is the very first game i played in years, that I'm seriously thinking about playing again in Capcom mode, right now, hours after finising the standard story mode for the first time.
I'm sorry to see everyone **** over the game, I know how bad it is to see your favorite franchise releasing a "less good game" each new one. But for a new comer it's awesome.
I'm even thinking about going after the old ones too.

People who review the game badly are either fanatics of the first 2 games (which I feel for you!) Or have enormous performance issues (who I feel for again!)
Honestly I didn't spend too much time on Dead rising 2 so not a fanatic of the first 2 but I definitely did experience cpu overheating a whole lot with this game.
With that aside the game as a standalone title is great. One o those

I killed 35k zombies in this game and had a ton o fun doing it. And the story is surprisingly engaging. Though... Frank cracked more jokes at the start of the game, he was still adequately funny throughout.

Dead Rising 4 Franks Big Package is a collection of the base Dead Rising4 game, but comes with all dice including Capcom heroes mode, 4 player co-op, mini golf that can be played local and online, and the Frank Rising DLC that takes place after the end of this games story..
I didn’t find any of the extras special…
But this games campaign definitely is…
Dead Rising 4 is my first Dead Rising game... here you play as retired journalist Frank West, all you wanna do is play some mini golf, but youre tricked into covering one last zombie story..
I wasn’t sure what I was going to get out of this game... I was expecting just a mindless zombie slasher game… but there’s so much more to it than this...
For starters the story is throwaway... its here but its background noise to the addictive weapon gathering that is this game...
What makes dead rising so unique from other zombie games is that it feels authentic to what an actual zombie apocalypse would feel like in a cartoony way… practically almost everything in this world can be used as a weapon…
This about 10 and half hour long game starts in a mall but takes place in an open world and I wasn’t expecting the have as much freedom in combat as I was given…
At first I was grabbing the most ridiculous weapons to be funny… ive never killed something in a video game with a giant candycane or a Christmas wrieth…
But as the game went on, enemies started to become a threat and I had to start taking things a little more seriously.. But not completely…
hidden through this games open world are blue prints that will allow you easily combine items for ridiculously powerful weapons... and youll get to experience so many because weapons do break fairly quickly..
Thankfully you’re able to carry a decent amount with you, as you’ll have melee slots, throw able, and ranged weapons…
I was surprised with how unreceptive the game ultimately ends up being as the first hour of the game is what you get until the end…
it’s just picking up new weapons and killing everything in your way until you complete an objective, leveling up and dumping skill trees for more slots for weapons and health pickups and increasing your stats of both you and the vehicles in the world…
Annoyingly though you can’t really drive everything in the world.. But if you look hard enough you’ll always be near at least 1 car to drive of bike to ride…
the game slow down a bit at times for you to investigate areas which I didn’t mind much at all...
changing the pace of the game, letting you breathe.. it allows you to crave the zombie and rogue survivor slaying…
The game does eventually get to that feeling of repetitiveness though…
Thankfully it started to wrap up around that time…
I was over it before it was over.. so I feel the campaigns length is pretty near perfect…
The story doesn’t end with the credits though
Again included in this collection is the Frank Rising DLC.. You’re a zombie version of Frank trying to get cured and escape, but you’re given an hr. and a half real time to do this…
And this mode is just not fun... there are no weapons here.. You’re given 3 zombie moves, an acid spit, a scream, and a pounce… and these mechanics are just awful for combat when guns are involved... you don’t feel overpowered as youre pouncing and eating enemies for health…
You just start getting frustrated as enemies with guns surround you and take you out over and over..
There’s an imbalance here and nowhere near the epic chaos that is the base of this game…
IF you’re a fan of slaying zombie hordes in anyway, you definitely owe it to yourself to pick up Dead Rising 4
I’m tired of Zombie games and even I had fun fighting with ridiculous items, and finding fresh gear throughout the world.
I give Dead Rising 4: Franks Big Package
    An 8/10

The worst game of the series so far. The campaign is very short - it offers roughly 6-8 hours of unglamorous gameplay and the worst thing is, that you can not play it with your friends because co-op is now included in separate mode. For the first time, the story has just ONE ending (although there are more endings available for the DLC owners)...

    Poor game. 4/10

If this is your first Dead Rising game then you'll still have a fun time discovering all the vast amount of different weapons, costumes, and collectibles, but for long time fans of the series like myself this is definitely too much of a a shallow and disappointing entry to the series.

Frank may be back, but Dead Rising certainly isn't.

Enjoy the most broken game of all times. If you manage to play this so get ready to get killed only by touching your enemies. I wish to those devs the most refunds on this game as possible.

Okay, DR4 is basically DR3 with some areas improved like performance and the ease of creating weapons, but it is also alot worse in some other areas.
So the cons... Maniacs, are now nothing more than boring normal enemies with more health. None of the maniacs are even remotely rememberable.
Vehicles are very uninspired and alot worse than in DR3. More often than not you don't even bother

Vehicles are very uninspired and alot worse than in DR3. More often than not you don't even bother to make them and just grab any random car at hand.
Ai, sure they are zombies but it is blatanty obvious that everything is lifeless until you get with a certain radius and human enemies barely have any intelligence above the zombies.
But worst of all this game lacks any and all challenge. I did not die a single time during my playthrough. I wasn't even close to dying and I never leveled up my healthbar.
There is no timelimit or anything to warrant a sense of accomplishment. And the actual gameplay consists mainly of pressing "X" repetedly. Without anything else to challange you, this repetetive gameplay turns bland really fast.
During all my years in gaming I can't remember any game that is as much a cakewalk like this game.
Pros... there isn't much imo, the performance is way better than DR3 both on PC and Xbox one. Obviously out of the two PC is the version to go for if given a choice.
I also like that they have skipped escort missions. That would actually add some challenge but seeing how the game is as clunky as DR3 it wouldn't be a fun challenge.
There are plenty of weapons and they are more easily created, with some fun christmas themed stuff.
The story is probably the best of the DR games but it really isn't all that special. It's "Okay".

At the end of the day, if you liked DR3 you will probably like this game aswell, but even then I think you will still find it "a letdown".
For me, it's a mediocre game at best.

From what I played before I refunded, it actually seemed like it was going to be a really good game. More of what made 3 great. Hardcore fans of 1 and 2 might not enjoy the simplistic over the top style, but I really did.

And if you are wondering why the reviews on the Windows Store aren't lower; They don't allow you to post a review after refunding, since you no longer own the product.

I'll change my review once it releases on Steam and I get the chance to fully evaluate the product, until then the abomination that is the Windows Store severely hampers the experience.

Oh, and you can refund the game if you talk to Microsoft support, I will say that they were very polite and quick to refund my purchase.

After loving the first two games and absolutely hating the third, this one is a pleasant surprise. Going into it I wasn't expecting much, so that may have made it a better experience.

Overall, the timer is gone which is going to bother a lot of people. Personally, I'm conflicted as I thoroughly enjoyed it in the first game but at the same time wished there was a mode without the timer

Overall, the timer is gone which is going to bother a lot of people. Personally, I'm conflicted as I thoroughly enjoyed it in the first game but at the same time wished there was a mode without the timer that would give me plenty of time to do a perfect run. Putting it behind a DLC paywall is what they opted with which is dumb, but it's still there if you really want it.

The game overall runs well on PC and looks great compared to past Dead Rising's. Texture clipping is still an issue in cutscenes but that's been an issue for as long as I can remember. Lot's more zombies on screen and varied environment from town streets, sewers, and a mall.

    Pros:
    * Story is prob the best of the series besides DR1. And it ties in well enough with DR1 to make it interesting and engaging through the first playthrough.
    * Weapon variability is as good as it's ever been. Lot's of combo weapons and funny items to use throughout the world.
    * Exo Suit. Pretty cool when you get to use them.
    * Special Zombies - Won't go into spoilers but there's more than just the standard zombies that were present in past games.
    * Fun - Game is just fun to play in my experience. Not game of the year by any stretch but still a fun game to sit down and play.

    Meh:
    * Psychopaths have been replaced with Maniacs. Not a huge issue since Pyschopaths have been forgettable since the first game, and Maniacs are pretty close. Simply put they are groups of crazies vs just a single pyschopath. Pyschopaths were a favorite aspect of DR1 so it's sad to see them really go, but tolerable.
    * Game is too easy. Very rarely do I feel like I'm even close to dieing. They can change this easily in a patch or two after getting feedback for now there is very little challenge. Very different from the first DR.

    Cons:
    * Zombies all look the same. They are all seemingly wearing the same outfits/colors so it just looks like a copy/paste job.
    * Some people may be bothered by the Christmas Theme. May be a bit off playing this during the Summer
    * Aiming is atrocious with a controller. Tried it out and it's just as bad as ever, feels like the aiming moves in chucks of 50-100 pixels so lining up headshots is hard.
    * No Multiplayer. Essentially just a single player only game with a multiplayer mode that is really just a min-game. I hardly played with friends but this will turn some people of the series off.
    * Kinda short. If you are only doing the missions you'll blow through this in under 10 hours. I recommend taking your time saving survivors and killing maniacs unlike I did, perhaps because I was so used to the timers in DR. Still have New Game + so you can always go back but just realize there is no rush to the end.

Also worth noting they changed the voice actor for Frank, but I honestly don't mind the change. No idea why people are freaking out, the voice actor fits the character quite well. Lot's of long time fans of the series are stuck in the past and don't realize they need to expand the fan base to keep the series alive, which means changing the formula a bit here and there to reach a wider audience. All things considered, this is a really good game. Would rate it an 8 but rating it a 9 for now since fanboy's are unfairly rating the game lower than it should be.

After diversions with two other characters in Dead Rising 2 and 3 it was nice to see the series return to the first protagonist Frank West with such clever and believable writing that pulls him back into the fray. Making it to a fourth entry in any series takes an understanding of your bread and butter and what has your audience coming back for more. In this case it’s the over the top creativity and mayhem with which you dispatch hordes of the undead and the occasional human. Series mainstays like combination weapons are here and can now be crafted on the fly. Gone are the mission timers and with them a rushed narrative that plays out over a specific time limited duration. While this does free up time for exploration and experimentation within the world it is certainly a diversion from the celebrated formula of past entries and does ramp the intensity and pressure down considerably. New to the series are military exo-suits which give you time-limited abilities that greatly increase your effectiveness in combat (however, not traversal) allowing you to smash more zombie bodies - sorry about your face, hope you didn't spend too much on those teeth!

The game continues to shine with mayhem that feels uniquely creative resulting in over the top moments that truly feel player driven. It is truly a delight to see each weapon's special move. Capcom has also nailed a balance where Frank West feels very effective and powerful while also remaining human and vulnerable to attacks, especially when overwhelmed. Intelligent use of weapon degradation keeps OP weapons from making the game too easy and forces the player to improvise with weapons that are weaker or less appropriate for the situation. Health, while plentiful in the world, is also scarce enough to make some situations dicey and overall it takes a lot of grind for the game to feel stale!

This reviewer’s primary complaints are centered around sections where Frank has to use his camera. Although Frank is a photojournalist and elements of the photography are part of the story these sections are a slog and not particularly enjoyable. If the photography had been more related to combat or implemented outside of very sterile areas perhaps the momentum of combat would not have been completely lost. Furthermore, some doors and exploration sections are only accessible with the camera, again impacting exploration negatively.

Overall, chaos reigns over finesse and the Christmas setting leads to a very holly and jolly slayfest that you - ho ho hon’t want to miss.

There is a story here and it is interesting… you can get the sense that Frank has a heart despite his bravado… but the fun is in the over the top ludicrousness of the whole experience. Grab your favourite Capcom branded outfit… suit up and get ready to shed some Zombie flesh. This serves as a much need giggle in the midst of so many dire Zombie themed games and is worth it just for the flexibility of how you play… well worth adding to your collection if you like your action with a bit of a smirk.

It might have more options to adjust the visuals. But it still plays in the second league of open world games while the zombie outbreak lost its bite and Frank West lost his cynical touch, which was replaced by one-liners that would be too corny even for Evil Dead’s Ash Williams.
