  • Summary: HOPE NEVER DIES - At its core, Days Gone is about survivors and what makes them human: desperation, loss, madness, betrayal, friendship, brotherhood, regret, love and hope. It's about how even when confronted with such enormous tragedy they find a reason to live. Hope never dies. DEACON ST.HOPE NEVER DIES - At its core, Days Gone is about survivors and what makes them human: desperation, loss, madness, betrayal, friendship, brotherhood, regret, love and hope. It's about how even when confronted with such enormous tragedy they find a reason to live. Hope never dies. DEACON ST. JOHN - Play as Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter facing a brutal struggle for survival, searching for a reason to live.
In addition to human drifters, marauders, and other groups, Deacon must face a wilderness overrun by Freakers mindless, feral creatures, more animal than human but very much alive and quickly evolving. Freakers have needs, habits and behaviors that the player can learn and adapt to.
    Unique Setting
The harsh high-desert of the Pacific Northwest offers a large variety of environments in a single geographical area. One minute Deacon can be riding through a pristine forest, a snow field, a lush meadow, and the next, be in the harsh desert lava fields. The hazardous environments, scarred by millions of years of volcanic activity, are defined by ancient lava flows, mountains, caves, cliffs and river basins, delivering a breathtaking backdrop to an equally diverse style of gameplay. Cinnabar mines, lava tube caves and small rural towns offer a variety of environments to explore.

    A Dynamic World
Using the power of PlayStation 4 and Unreal Engine 4, Days Gone offers an incredibly realistic and detailed open-world experience. Vast and hostile environments can be fully explored on the back of Deacon's drifter bike. Abandoned vehicles can be searched for useful items. Towns and buildings can be entered and searched at great risk. All lighting is done in real time eye adaption technology creates a real sense of dread when entering dark buildings; day and night have an impact on the experience; weather affects enemy behavior.

    Brutal Sandbox Combat
Exemplifying true, free-form gameplay, Days Gone offers freedom to explore, strategize and play "your way." Every challenge can be approached and completed in an almost infinite number of ways. Many different items and weapons can be crafted using items found in the field, including brutal melee weapons and traps. Customizable weapons and skills offer true freedom in how the game is played.

Great port of a great title. Zombie games are all around us, but Bend Studio managed to squeeze every last drop out of this worn out setting. Everything is well-designed and polished in Days Gone – the believable world and characters in it, the distinct post-apocalyptic aura, the crafting, the thrilling combat and spectacular encounters with bloodthirsty hordes. In addition, this version is well-optimized and runs smoothly on a mid-range PC. [08/2021, p.48]

Days Gone provides a good challenge and an interesting story, which should make PC users really happy about this port from PS4. Technically speaking, it’s a fairly good game with excellent graphics, a good soundtrack and expected stability. Some little quirks here and there, but it will keep you busy slaughtering monsters for a while.

Days Gone arrives on PC with a very good adaptation that tick most of the boxes a good port needs. There are no new features or content but, if you missed it on PS4, you have now a better way to discover this title.

Days Gone lands on PC as the second PlayStation Studios exclusive to make the multiplatform leap. The port has no major issues, hence providing a remarkable adventure with Deacon at the helm. Whether you have a PC fully prepared for top performance or a more modest one, the fact remains that the Days Gone port is a pretty recommendable experience.

As I said before, Days Gone feels like bad TV. It has no substance, but goddamn is it nice just to relax and follow along with the story and its hypnotizing gameplay loops. There are definitely better games out there, but without a doubt, Days Gone is a perfectly entertaining title to waste a week in.

Bigger is better. It might suit a bag of chips - Lay's salt and pepper, please - but not a computer game. Or at least not for Days Gone for PC, which combines the same large open world of the PS4 game with an overwhelming number of missions. Do we think Days Gone is a bad game? No, absolutely not. But to go back to the comparison with potato chips - one of our areas of expertise next to computer games - the bag is big, the content is weak.

PC version of Days Gone is almost perfect. I'm glad this game can finally shine as it was meant to shine already in 2019.

Already played this on PS but you could barely get 15 frames riding around there. Playing it now on 3070, 9600k and it runs like a dream at max with Gsync 165 hz. The atmosphere is great, textures, lighting, characters, story, combat, there is really only one negative thing and that is Deacon, the main character is such a whining btch. His voice-acting is nausiatingly bad and he acts like he is 15 years old but probably around 30. That always puzzles me, why would you make a character that is unlikeable? Pretty incredible that one can love the game as much as I do when hating the very person you play, but it works at least, just imagining what it would be like with an actual cool guy. I also wish it was slightly larger in scale and more to collect, but thats the hoarder in me and some hate that. Suprisingly long game which is a good thing. One odd thing to mention is that depending on what mission you are on, and when you are not in missions, you get random calls on your radio/walkie which can be like the same person calling within 5 seconds which you just talked to. I think that is a minor flaw, but I think it had to be so that be could choose what missions to play when, rather than play in one specific order, which would be worse.

Thanks to the studio for having it on PC (actually contacted the directors about 1.5 years ago to beg them to port it to PC, they did not answer but read it, so maybe it can help?)
