A really engaging storyline. It has some really funny and interesting random side quests that made me want to explore the city. The city districts are distinct and the skyline is amazing to look at. Good feeling shooting and open level design with many options - stealth, hacking or guns blazing. Graphics with ray tracing enabled are truly amazing.

I haven't noticed many bugs, I guess because of the latest patch but the game is amazing. It will be even better in a few months but as of the 13th of December I have been playing through it and haven't encountered many bugs (15 hours of play so far). While intensive it seems to run pretty well, although I am using high-end hardware - 2080ti and 2700x but there are many benchmarks that show it running well on other hardware.
Note: Quality DLSS is such a large improvement in visual quality over Balanced or Performance modes at 1440p. I would recommend this version only of DLSS

Et tu CDPR? Et tu? ... CDPR--the RPG maker famed for the quality of its storytelling and side quests... makes a game with only around 20 real side quests.

But wait, you might say, there are a hundred little exclamation points and question marks on the map! What about those? Well, those are variations on "kill this", "open that box", "upload that virus", "kill that guy", "rescue that guy", "steal this", and only very rarely something else. It's instantly forgettable filler told through text messages on your phone, and little notes strewn around the desks and floors of the little region the mission is confined to. The missions are modular, do not affect world state in any way and almost never involve a decision.

I was going to say that The Witcher 3 was different and never did anything comparable. No notes on the floor. No blow up this nekker nest to get a reward. I was going to say it had a hundred real side quests instead--with dialogue, cinematics and storytelling through showing rather than telling. (The most important rule of fiction is: show don't tell.) I was going to say that but then I realized that I was wrong. There were dozens of similar "questlets" in the Witcher 3. The thing is I haven't played it in 3 years and though I remember 90% of all the real actual quests and I could tell you about how I did them and what decisions I made, I completely forgot about the notes-on-the-floor questlets. That's how little of an impression they made on me. I forgave TW3 for having them because it had lots of other much better content. I'm not going to forgive CP2077 though because it doesn't. Nearly the whole game is made of this stuff.

The notes-on-the-floor questlets are given to V by "fixers"--one-dimensional characters bound to a geographical area. They're barely introduced to you at all. They're not rivals. You have no choice about working with them or not. They trust you no matter what. A relationship with a notice board is more interesting.

What kind of character is V? Is he a criminal? A hero? A discoverer of corporate conspiracies? Is he pro-corp evil or full-hippie nomad? What's his ideology? Does he think all corps are inherently bad or does he think Arasaka and Millitech are in the hands of bad people and everything would be okay if they were brought to justice?

Answering these questions would make the game an RPG. One with decisions. One with pro and anti playthroughs. ... but it's not an RPG. Instead, V is a guy that levels up. And he gets loot. And he shoots gang members. (Why even bother having different gangs if they're just something for V to shoot?) V is a generic amoral nobody who does what his fixers ask. (Note: he does not transgress against an ethical system--that would be immoral. No, he's amoral. Which means not having morality at all. Like a doorstop or traffic cone. And about as interesting.)

Answering these questions would also require an exploration of the villains of CP. Wait, who are those villains again? No individuals in CP stand out to me as villains. So maybe the real villain is the toxic culture of corporations! It makes good people do bad things--a wonderful bit of moral complexity that can be properly explored in a game. But CP barely touches on it. And it certainly doesn't involve any character development for V.

Nope. V levels up. And collects loot. Gunplay is mostly quite fun. But mindless. Because it has only a superficial context. It is a struggle for the sake of struggle. Nothing more.

After writing all this you might be wondering why I would give this game anything above 0. The answer is that the main quest is quite good. Keanu is great. There's a choice of multiple endings. There are subtle appeals to the subconscious throughout the main quests. In the cyberpunk atmosphere it's often hard to tell reality from illusion.

But there's not enough of that kind of depth. There aren't enough characters either. There are only 10 or so real characters in CP. Any of the Witcher games had more--even the earlier ones that were made on 5% the budget.

Those games had more cinematics too. The vocal cutscene-hating minority got its way in CP. No cutscenes. Fine. But they haven't been replaced with anything better. Instead everything happens at a distance and you have to look at it. Some of the facial animations are really good, but most people won't notice because the camera doesn't zoom in.

What disturbs me most is that CDPR declared that CP2077 was finished in early 2020 and just had to be debugged. They thought that 20 side quests and just a choice of endings was a finished game. I have no hope at all for the next Witcher game now. I'm sure it's going to be Ciri reading notes on the floor and blowing up nekker nests for her fixer. And there will be a huge environment with ten thousand pedestrian NPCs that have one line of dialogue and tell you to f off 1000 ways. (I spoke to around 10 of the pedestrian NPCs in CP2077. It was just that much fun.)

I have never been in a city as alive and engrossing as Night City. You can tell they learned a great deal about modeling living cities from the Witcher 3, because this is the best urban environment I have ever seen. Period. The characters feel like genuine people with real internal lives. When characters die it really hits home in the way only the best movies or books can replicate. There has not been a game in years that captured my attention and admiration in the way Cyberpunk 2077 has.

With regards to bugs, I have encountered limited visual bugs which I assume everyone is referring to. Stuff like weirdly drifting cars in cutscenes or odd animations are pretty much what it amounts to for me. Once, I encountered a broken texture that forced me to load a new save, but it was in a car and not in a mission. That said, I haven't encountered anything on my PC that would be considered game breaking, and keep in mind that I'm running an aged Vega 56. Please note however, that this is just my experience on my hardware and others may have different experiences.

As far as performance, this is still one of the best looking games I have ever seen and I'm running it on Medium, 1440p, 60 fps steady. I can't wait to run it on ultra to really take in Night City as it was meant to be enjoyed. The game is still well worth playing even with the limited bugs, which I assume will be resolved in the near future. I cannot endorse this game enough. An exceptional game that has one of the most moving, existential, human stories you can have today in any media. 10/10

And when you can get the perks, your reward is to play less of the minigame, like they know its kinda boring - especially 90 hours later? Why do you need legendary mats to upgrade legendary items... when the rarity of these mats mean you won't be able to craft the upgrade and the very next common item out performs your legendary? Why attack higher level mobs when their drops are always for a higher level character, ergo no reward for your risk? Why buy any car after you have Jackie's bike? Why does no one in Night City have Trauma Care Response other than the women in the first quest? We do kill people other than gangbangers. Why craft when what you can routinely find the very next level outperforms what you crafted? Why do iconic items share a look with non-iconic items, aren't they iconic? Why is there a mirror you can vaguely mug at? At first I thought it was to see more and more johnny in your mannerisms, but its so bethesda fugly its seemingly pointless? Why can't you lock or save weapons you want to keep when the game routinely asks you to pick up 20 weapons per encounter and either disassemble them or sell them all to the nearest vendor? What is actually happening in the world when your character is disassembling, please explain in a non immersion breaking way? Why does the rain look so bad? Why so few enemy types? Why does every vendor buy 20 guns no questions asked? Why are bosses immune to hacks when it invalidates a netrunner build, or if not immune just so damn expensive and ineffectual? Why does no-one else in the city or the bad lands ride a motorcycle? Why are there so few brain dances? Why can you buy brain dance disks, they're not labelled as junk, but you can never play them with the headset you are especially given? Why is the first brain dance the best one with multiple layers and heartbeats and urgency while the rest are a snorefest? Why is the UI so terrible for making a phone call or checking a phone message? Why is the layout of the skills not organised in a way to suggest a build type? Why is explosive damage in crafting? Why are grenades so terrible? Why isn't the order of the phone messages preserved in the chronological order they were sent when you reply? Why is there no traffic AI for a city with traffic? Why is there no crowd AI for a city with crowds? Why is there no Police AI for a city with police? Why are there no indicators on clothing, like there are on weapons, to tell you what is better or worse as compared to what you are currently wearing? Why do certain items have weight but not others? Why do you have 164 healing syringes in no time? Why is there a street cred system, wasn't it supposed to show your "street cred" to various factions by the clothing you could wear... it seems like its just another XP bar that gates equippable content? Why does no-one remark on your elite street gear (other than clothing vendors who do so no matter what)? Why are there no faction standings which are influenced by your actions? Why does the fixer of a region immediately know you've stepped into their neighbourhood and immediately start offering you cars and gigs even when you've done exactly nothing to prove yourself to anyone? Why are you offered car after car after car after car in seemingly endless carousel (see what I did there) between game hours 3-8 when each of them are ridiculously expensive for where you are in the world and if you could buy one, you could buy only one? Why is the purchasing of that parked car so sterile? Why are the UI map elements for cars, gigs and side jobs all the same exclamation icon? Why be able to choose your genitals? Why are enemies so bullet spongey when they are wearing a tank top and I'm shooting them in the face with a double barrel shotgun? Why don't I ever see myself go under the knife when I got to the ripper doc to feel the loss of humanity as more and more cyberware is added? Why can't I try clothing on to see what it looks like before purchasing? Why can''t I respec my attributes? Why can't I change my hairstyle? Why can't I see the tattoo Johnny gets me in a good close up? Why are there foam cut outs in my stash? Why do I have a computer in my apartment with the Net, just for that one mission? Why are the perks clumped to even attribute levels so there are many blank levels with no perk choice? Why have Nomad, Corpo and Street kid backgrounds other than to flavour the first 20-30 minutes... and to provide text prompts which don't really seem to add too much benefit, but thereafter to offer no discernible benefit to replayability? I can go on. Expand

Will update as soon as RTX3xxx gets more affordable (and available at all) and play the game again for sure. Graphics: with my dated hardware I definitely had to tweak the settings a bit to get good looking graphics with solid fps. But with dynamic resolution scaling and disabling unwanted post processing effects I manage to run mid to high quality settings on WQHD at about 50fps. And although it does not look as good as gameplay videos with high end hardware, it still looks awesome to me. Will upgrade my GPU asap. Technical/bugs: bugs definitely are present and while harming the immersion I did neither experience game breaking bugs nor any crashes. Mileage seems to vary a lot between players but for me everything is fine overall. I did not experience a single crash in over 20h of playtime and no bug was persistent after reloading the last checkpoint, which luckily wlos created automatically after every important step. Game Design: overall the different mechanics play together really well. Different skills can be used to personalize the experience, decisions are given to the player both during dialogs - and but even more important through the play style. More than often while playing you don't even notice that right now you are taking a certain decision because the game is not pushing your face in it. But still, many quests can be solved in different ways. Quest design itself is phenomenal, there are many opportunities and activities without the feeling of repetitiveness or grind. What I still don't get however is the crafting system. You have to invest a lot into crafting, both skill and item wise, while you get a better item dropped after the next quests anyway. And if crafting is part of the game I would like to at least be able to "combine" two items to apply the stats of one to the look/appearance of another. World: the world design is awesome. I totally immerse in this dark, intriguing, criminal, neon city. While most parts of the huge city are more scenery than usable open world the game excells at delivering a feeling of the sheer size of this megacity while the player is still able to identify important and iconic parts of the city and strolling through jig jig street without forgetting in which district you are right now. It should be clear that in a city of this size you can not enter every floor of every mega building, which in itself are own little cities so to say. While this would require a lot of work for the level design alone, it would also not add to the gameplay at all. In my opinion, it would even harm the gameplay as the player would most likely feel lost. For my liking the game found the perfect balance between size and recognition factor of individual locations. Story: this is what absolutely defines the game, its bread and butter. There are just no words to describe how awesome the main story is. The game design plays perfectly with the quests and the story itself is breathtaking and puts me in awe...

    Summary:
I did explicitly not follow the hype, did not watch all the trailers, teasers and did not follow the articles of nearly all small and big pc games newspaper or website out there. Therefore, I did neither expect the "greatest game of the decade", nor a "better GTA" nor a "Witcher in the future". I I don't know what expectations some players and reviewers had for this game. And honestly, for sure at least some players will be disappointed, as the game is not the classical open world game of the last year's (c.f. Ubisoft), nor a GTA alternative, nor a shooter (RPG factors like level and item stats play too big a role). But for me as an RPG lover, and one who missed good single player story games in times of "service online games" polluted with micro transaction, this game is a real breath of fresh air. Despite its grim, dark, and polluted setting, where fresh air might be the last thing you will find. ;) The game offers an amazing story, solid gameplay and a variety of playstyles and choices in how to approach individual missions. There is always the possibility to take an alternative route to what the game suggests and it really makes sense to listen to the small annotations NPC give you.
Playing as a hacker and don't like the boss fight the quests marker is clearly throwing you into? Well, just sneak around it! The game does not say you can do so, but it either does not mention that you can't! In the end the game silently gives you this freedom. Free your minds from the shackles that past games put on you and enyoj the possibilities! And last but not least, with one of the best stories I've witnessed in the last years, the game plays more like an interactive movie which gets me hooked, in a good way.

Minus 1 point for the occasional bug and balancing issues with items and crafting, which feels a bit out of place.

For a game set in a realm where netrunners exist, hacking is such a pathetic mechanic in the game. It is so badly implemented. You can hack in the middle of combat and the game pauses so you can crack a code. Try doing that in Deus Ex. At least Deus EX was challenging to hack, you can get spotted, yet in Cyberpunk, the A.I just waits for you to finish hacking before they will shoot or spot you.

I was hoping for innovation in game play but all that was created was a GTA5 clone with 20 year old game play. This game needed another year to flesh out the core game play. It can still have elements of fun, but its just rinse and repeat ideas from the last 20+ years.

having an impressive vertical map, is cool, but when you can't interact with 95% of it, what's the point of having objects just to take up space.

The main story is way too short and moves from point to point way too fast. Outside the side quests for your possible romances, there aren't really any other interesting ones. 75% of my play through was just boring busywork visiting every single Gig and NCPD scanner events in the hopes of finding something interesting... It has its atmosphere going for it, yes. The plot is overdone, but still well-written, and contains enough twists and parallel lines to give it SOME measure of replayability if you want to see all possible variations.
It has some well-written characters, mostly the available romance options. The major characters have actual ARCS, going through development as the game progresses, and I have to say the models for these are top-notch too. Of course, this kind of attention comes with tradeoffs, more on that later.
Finally, there's enough lore and filler content to really flesh out the world. Shards, newscasts, dialogs, etc. give the world a well-written, complete atmosphere.

But then there are the negatives. And there are far too many to ignore.
First off, the glitches. More than once, I've had the game "forget" playing a dialog, so I'm left wondering what just happened and what should I answer. Then there are the times when people clip into objects in the scene - when it's just a civilian, it might be funny, but when it's the last enemy standing between you and a completely stealthy mission, it's just plain infuriating; not to mention when your bike's front wheel clips into something in the road and catapults you 64 stories high which immediately fails your mission.
Balance is also more than halfway out the window. I had a specific build in mind to start with (Monowire+hacking, with a side of assault when things go loud), so I leveled with that in mind, emphasizing Cool. But then it turns out Monowire is based on Cool but plays off the Street Brawler skill tree, while playing like a bladed weapon by all accounts (meaning it should play off of Blades instead, given that it cuts and applies Bleeding). Hacking can also be blown out of balance, allowing me to destroy entire platoons one by one with Short Circuit+Synaptic Burnout combos, while staying outside mission zones to avoid triggering the enemy AI.
And finally, the models. While the major characters get detailed, well-sculpted models, the "extras" get a choice of maybe ten generic models. Although the game was advertised with unique civilians populating the city, in reality, everyone is just a combination of a generic model, a generic behavior (which consists of "walk at constant speed", "talk to partner", and "stand still looking around") and a single sentence to say on contact.

Overall, it's hard to believe this game has been in development for eight years. It shows an astonishing lack of bughunting AND playtesting for its hype and budget, and does not justify its price in any way.

Excellent game. I've had a few glitches, but otherwise, great performance with beautiful graphics on my 3070 super and i7 9800 gaming laptop. Fantastic, really. Most if the people complaining about performance are the same ones who laughed at others who bought RTX cards.

Besides a few glitches like floating weapons, weird audio bugs and 2 instances of clipping through the map I have had a relatively smooth experience. Even with my entry level graphics card (RTX 2060 super) Cyberpunk looks incredible. Night City is beautiful with all of the neon lights, tall skyscrapers and back allies shrouded in darkness. The city really feels alive. Granted the people walking the streets could have been fleshed out a bit more. I come across quite a few really quiet streets despite hundreds of people walking around but this could be attributed to a bug, I'm not sure. Gunplay is good not great. There are quite a few different types of weapons. Blades, blunts, smart weapons, power weapons and tech weapons. Smart weapons are my favorite (the bullets are basically guided missiles. Power weapons are your somewhat basic kinetic weapons, and tech weapons are.............well I'm not really sure how to explain them. I know you can build up powerful shots by holding down the trigger and does almost double the damage of a single shot. Mission structure is pretty good albeit nowhere near as varying as The Witcher 3 was but there is still a TON to do and discover. All in all if you are a fan of RPG's or Projekt Red I think you will find a lot to enjoy here. That said I can only tell you my PC experience, perhaps if you own a ps4 or xbox one I would wait until the game is fixed well enough to at least have an enjoyable experience. Like everyone else I am super disappointed in CDPR management when it comes to how they handled the release but I will say I think the floor level devs did a fantastic job creating a world I love being in. The sound is amazing and adds immensely to the ambience of night city. The sound of horns blaring when running an intersection. The reactions from people responding to gunfire in the streets. The dialogue and. The voice acting is impressive.

The story is deep and engaging. There are several notes sprawled across the city, perhaps too many, many however provide more and knowledge regarding cyberpunk setting.

The leveling system provides several options for designing your character to your hearts desire. All of the options appear interesting and there is a robust crafting system.

Do not listen to the negative reviews. The game is perfectly playable on PC. Purchase the game and witness the beauty of Night City for yourself.

    Upd.После прохождения РДР2 становится очевидно,что студий,которые умеют в сюжет очень и очень мало.На фоне РДР2 сюжет и повествование в КП просто бриллиант.Поднимаю оценку до 8 исключительно за сюжет.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am now never going to get overly hyped for a game, especially if they release gameplay trailers way before it gets released. The game looks good I guess, but there are lots of games that look better. The AI is awful, the story is mediocre, and the main character isn't cool or likeable. The only thing this game has going for it is its aesthetic. The cyberpunk aesthetic is great and I love the futuristic open world setting. However the world is an inch deep and a mile wide. There's not much to do besides the same old 5-10 minute side missions and the main story. The story isn't something I want to play more than once, even though the game was constructed for you to do that.

Legitimately more than half of the main story is sitting through boring conversations. After putting up with these for a few hours, I started viciously jamming the skip button as quickly as I could because the conversations just go on and on and on. It's just time filler. The story also feels like a bunch of setup for three hours then random filler stuff in the middle, and then you get to the end and complete the setup stuff. I wasn't invested, I didn't care about the characters, and the story isn't very in depth.

The combat isn't bad, but the hitboxes aren't always accurate. The cyberware and mods are really cool and I think the hacking is one of the most enjoyable aspects of gameplay. Regular combat is very normal and uninteresting though.

This on top of the glitches and bugs just makes this game a massive disappointment. After finishing the main story, I probably won't play it again until they fix it.

My experience is based on running the game on a PC, with RTX 3080 GPU, AMD 5900x CPU, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD.

On those specs, I can run the game in 1440p around 60 fps with everything at the highest setting (e.g., RT on ultra/psycho, and DLSS on quality), and the result is the most gorgeous looking game I've seen thus far. Not a play session goes by without me just stopping and admiring the shadows and textures and animations, and the overall sheer amount of detail in the world. It really is breathtaking.

The stories in the game have a lot of interesting elements seeded in them, though at times it feels like the delivery lacks in depth. However, I would be the first to admit that my background in philosophy may be setting my standards kind of unreasonably high when it comes to exploring philosophical and political themes. For a popular title, the game does give some of the themes a reasonable treatment, without being too preachy one way or another (depending on the players own choices).

The side missions, in particular, are quite exemplary in that they do not feel like your general side gigs, but rather immersive stories in their own right. Night City – as a living corporate-ruled metropolis of the future – is the stage, and all of the missions utilize it in varied ways. To add, all of the characters in the main and side quest are quite interesting; I constantly find myself wanting to learn more about them. Thus, overall, the dystopian stories are quite good. (Mind you, however, that I have not played through the entire game yet – I'm only about 30 hours in so far, while having primarily done side missions.)

I would probably give the game a 9.6 or 9.7 if it weren't for the bugs that are present even on the PC version. The bugs are there, even though they are nowhere near as aplenty nor severe as on the consoles. But they are there nonetheless. Most are visual bugs, though.

Overall, Cyberpunk 2077 on a high-end PC is an extremely gorgeous experience, with engaging story lines and interesting characters, but is hindered by the bugs present at launch. If it wasn't for the bugs, the game might get a 9.7 from me, but for the time being – until the bugs are fixed – I'm forced to give it a solid 9.

Imagine you buy a prestige luxury sportscar, it looks astouncishing, heated seats with a massage function, state of the art enternaiment system, etc.. But then you push that start button to take it out for a drive and realize that it drives like absolute **** The Suspension makes you puke while the trottle is as responsive as a coma patient. That is how it felt to play through Cyberpunk 2077.

The beatiful - the mediocre - the trash:

    The Beatiful:
    - It has probably one of the best visuals that you can get in a game as of right now.
    - Splatter/dismembering effects are high quality.
    - Visual design, detail and animation of weapons and cars are top notch.
    - The main storyline and the side stories which you can have with main characters are mostly quite well done and interesting.
    - At certain times the game tries to induce a certain intimacy with a play of presentation, visuals and voice acting that no game I played has made it like that before, beatiful.

    The Mediocre:
    - Driving mechanic are really an afterthought for the most part but still functional and fun at times. There are specific off-road cars but they drive mostly just as bad on that terrain and flew of in the sky just like a sportscar or a truck. Sometimes the driving behaviour is inconsistent.
    - The Gangsystem: There is no gangsytem although there are implications of these, nobody hates or likes you, they are just there to be killed and give quests at the same time. No playerimpact.
    - Parkour running is a nice suprise

    Th Trash:
    - Gameplay Balance, there is no gameplay balance.. I never read or watched guides on how do find certain things or specifically try to abuse mechanics, just casually explored and tried to go for builds and playstyles that seemed fun. But even after 5 hours in one finds insanely strong skills and aspects and after that all the fun from the gunfight gets less and less until there is literally no fight any more.

    - Loot mechanics and Inventory are absolutely half assed and not even tested. Aside the fact that I can't loot like 80% of robots I kill for no reason I can also not loot 30% of weapons the enemies drop, that waaay to much. While the Inventory has nice sorting functions it is absolutely atrocious at the same time combined with the worst Inventory aspect I have ever seen in a trile A game:

    - The crafting takes around 2 seconds and I can only craft a single item at a time. It is absolutely madenening. It is not like something emersive that I see my chaacter craft an item or just do random craft stuff (like in Fallout 4) it is just sitting in that inventory menu and clicking that button every 2 seconds like an idiot. This is below any standards I have for any game. And while the crafting is annoying as hell it is also brokenly powerful, I can literaly create stuff out of nothing by crafting and disasambling and I can get infinitely money that way even with a very low player level, why is this a thing. On to of that armor and weapon stats are literally random when crafting items for no reason while I noticed that literally my armorstats change when I just restart the game.

    - Progression: Especially in RPG type leveling I like to get a feel for the numbers of damage, resistances and armor etc.. But the level progression and the way the stats scale is quite bad. In the begnning one has to change essentially the weapon and armor each 0 min because there are better ones but then when it slows down a bit I am already the God of Night City. In the early game the game allows the player to try to take it on high level enemies but these encounters are anything else than fun, fighting is either stunlocking enemies with granaes for 10 min nonstop or die instantly and trying to do it stealthy is a 50% gamble wheather one can finish this mission or, I tried to make a "Very High" danger mission to rescue a woman... only then to learn that as soon as I get to that woman a diolog starts and being detected is unovoidable. And I don't mean it is scripted, it just happens because the diolog was probably not there in the initial mission design to completyl break it. And why do I get a weapon that can shoot through literally any material and any thickness of it, it's just broken. Why do I get 90% crit chance and deal like 100 times damage on every shot is beyond me.

    - The Policee system: It is so bad and cheap that just removing police from the game entirely would be a better choice. I can not even ignore them completely since sometimes I don't stand in the magical "hositle area" or kill a random citizen.

There are a few more for which I have no space to write about like cheap "life paths" and choices in general, game is about corporations but I have no ineractions with them, citizens are a facade, minimap navigating is trash, exploration without minimap..

This is basically a review from someone who played this game expecting nothing and playing as a hacker through one story line.

The best thing about this game is without a doubt the city. This is without a doubt, the best setting we have seen in a game so far. All the different districts look not only unique but also beautiful in there own unique way. This gets enhanced by seeing multiple people on the streets, more then you have ever seen in any other game. Just following random people minding their own business is actually something you can do in this game and the sheer amount of different things they do is astounding. (Though of course, you sometimes see things twice or the same animation, it's still a game after all) Although mind you, this only applies if you play the PC version like i did, i played the game on high settings btw. I loved the sub-quest and main story, which is honestly a blockbuster level type of story in a video game, and especially the sub-quests always had a little spin to them to make them interesting, which only got amplified by being a hacker since the environment plays a big role if you decide to play that type of role. Dialogues where memorable and i especially liked the way their mimic or gestures change mid sentence or close to end of a sentence when they want to say something in a different mood. Now... not all things are great, which is why i gave this a 9/10. First of all, although i didn't encounter any game changing bugs in my session, this game is definitely not fully optimized and still features some bugs, looking at what people posted online though it seems that there are more worse stuff happening in a play through then just "flying object X". This game NEEDS to be fixed, cause it is a masterpiece which would be put to shame if CDPR doesn't fix it to become a clean experience but with their quick way of patching currently it seems like that will be done for in a few patches, we will have to look forward for that i guess and see how things turn out. Another thing i didn't like is the way that sub-quests get presented to you, your telephone is basically almost always ringing if you leave the district cause a mission is presented to you. This will also hopefully be patched. But other then that, i would say that this is definitely my favorite game i have ever played and will 100% this in all routes, until then citizens of Night City!
    Have a nice day!

do not listen to anyone, play, build your impression of the game. There is a suspicion that everyone who puts bad reviews did not even play this game, or downloaded a pirated version. I have not heard a bad response from more than one person from my circle.

But if you look at the game as it runs on a fairly good PC, it is actually a very good, even beautiful-looking game. There are visual bugs, glitches. But you can go through the game for hours without ever noticing any, usually. Most are minor, and don't really break your immersion. And there are aspects of the game that seem rushed, small touches missing at times. Like... there is no little sound when you craft or upgrade an item, for example, which is staple for any RPG. It could have used more time in the oven, this game, sure. Some things I had been hoping for that aren't there. But there is still a HUGE game with a HUGE amount of high quality game-play, story-telling, acting, dialogue-writing, mission building, design. There is still a lot of atmosphere. It is a great game with flaws, but still a great game. It is a shame that this game didn't turn out to be the total awesome futuristic cult RPG masterpiece of the decade that I and many were hoping it would be (at least, not in the state it is in now), but there is a lot of great stuff there. Don't play this game on a lower end console, just now, but don't let the negative hype around the very bad launch blind you to the fact that, in spite of it's flaws, this is still a very very good game. Very unimpressed with Cyberpunk. Nothing is novel, it's a punk-ish spiced latte of a safe and un challenging RPG.
TL:DR hacking is boring, driving is bad, clipping is so poor, AI is poor, physics are poor, the game isn't near ready, let alone finished- give it two years.
In the 30 hours I have played it was barely enjoyable as an RPG. On the positive the story is quite interesting, and

In the 30 hours I have played it was barely enjoyable as an RPG. On the positive the story is quite interesting, and the music good - however you are never sucked in like in other RPG's. This is possibly because your life choices in the game barely matter, and the Cyber punk feel never really gets off, as you can barely interact with anything. The ever present clipping bugs, the AI when driving is dire, combat requires no thought, driving and crash physics are tediously poor, dropped items stuck in clipping, unusable shops, pointless food, poor NPC dialogue, people spawning and disappearing in front of you, tech weapons fire through walls or any other object with no hindrance, hacking is boring and childishly easy and the mini map is useless for driving navigation. The only interesting and well-thought-out objective is the main quest. Utter wasted potential, after a few hours it becomes a collect a slightly better weapon and gear game. If you expected cyber innovation, or believed any of the hype, you are probably going to have to wait a long time for the modders to make it enjoyable.

I am not giving this game low score totally because of bugs. The gameplay is extremely boring and instantly put me to sleep. 90% of the game is talking with NPC's and the most disappointing part of the game is that you have access to so much customization but you wont even see it unless you look into a mirror. This game is one of the most overhyped games ever.

To offset a lot of reviewers giving pretty unfair, and idiotic 0's to this game, I'll throw a just-as-stupid 10 up. So there.
I'd actually currently give this game a solid 7 right now, yes, bugs and all. But I honestly could give my personal 10 now, for the future where they've smoothed over the numerous bugs, which, by the way, have still not been enough to keep me from playing, but I do

I'd actually currently give this game a solid 7 right now, yes, bugs and all. But I honestly could give my personal 10 now, for the future where they've smoothed over the numerous bugs, which, by the way, have still not been enough to keep me from playing, but I do know, and depend on the mod community- whatever CD Projekt's fix timeline is- and they've already fixed many of the to-me, seemingly nit picky to miss the gravity of what this game is now, and will be in time.

Do I reccomend this game? As a fan of the genre since 1994, Cyberpunk more than earns the name, and I've spent apparently 100 hours in, and by my guess half-way through the game, but I honestly have no clue where 'shortage of content' or 'lifeless' comes from when I read reviews. Did side mission character rolls go horribly wrong? Not going to pretend this game has the BEST character performances across the board, but I found the way that this game hides very important choices amidst inconsequential ones deceptively clever and offers you choices that do feel wide-a-range-of responses, that even if railroaded, the game does feel very up to you. And that, though I have not hit credits, I know leads to permutations on ending at least 5+ different ways. This has me really investing in my character in situations I seek out.

That may be one of the biggest problems people have with this game. The world does not actively come at you in this game. There are no arcade side gimmick minigames or meaningful traffic AI or roamiing quest-givers etc, but it does have a living city the way it promised it would, but only when you look at the map do you realize just how much STUFF there is to do in this game. I argue the side missions are the strength; they give your character the opportunity to build a longer, or shorter story out of the stakes that you've set for yourself, or not yet, and the main scenario is more or less something to get back to eventually. It took me 20 hours to hit the title screen, and it has been one of the coolest experiences with games by itself, as a vertical slice of the time I am having after it, and what I expect will result in future DLC, a sequel, and a hell of a lot of mods.

I think this is going to be damaging to CD Projekt Red until they can get most people to my experience with quality. That's going to take some time. There are people who are having my experience, and I think it sucks that the ratings reflect this. The middle ground reviews I honestly trust the most- and find the the fairest judgement on this game's strengths, weaknesses, and abundancy for bugs- which, when you filter that through- like my review; in time, the 5-7's now will over time become 8's and 10's. This is a monumental, mishandled launch for a monumental, and honestly awesome video game that just wasn't cooked enough- but in this age, as we've seen, throw it back in the oven, or over to the Modding Chefs in this metaphor, and you come out the other side with happier people. Not saying it is acceptable to launch games this way; but if we're going to, at least I can see down the line to when people get over it for this title- this game at it's best is what I was hoping for.

My honest review after 70 hours of gameplay, mostly on patch 1.04. About 5-10 hours on 1.05 and a tiny little bit on 1.06:

The game is still essentially an alpha build. Today, on PC, it may be transitioning into beta. On this site, as expected, you'll mostly find people giving the game a 10 or a 0, both of which are of course wrong and not representative of the game's true state.

Either way, there are plenty of things the game does right, and just as many things it does wrong. For the purpose of this review I will solely be reviewing the game itself and not taking into consideration the dubious and outright fraudulent actions of CDPR. Pros and cons are listed below.

    Pros:
    - The narrative - that is, the writing of dialogue and portrayal of the lore throughout the main storyline and side quests. This is what carries the game.
    - A beautifully crafted and detailed Night City.
    - Character design and artstyle.
    - The natural, almost organic design of quest progression.
    - The graphics and implementation of ray tracing.
    - The audio design and soundscape.

    Cons:
    - While the story is what carries the game, it is painfully obvious that a lot of content has been cut which would have enriched it considerably. A prime example of this can be seen in the many sequences shown in trailers of V's and Jackie's escapades, presumably depicting how they grew close, only for NONE of that to be included in the game.
    - Incredibly mediocre gameplay. Shooting has very little impact and melee is gimmicky.
    - Poor to non-existent AI. Police system is atrocious, NPCs do not drive cars outside of scripted events in the main storyline, enemies are dumber than in certain games from the early 2000's.
    - UI is a cluttered mess and generally, the looter-shooter aspect of this game is very poorly implemented.
    - The character progression element is simultaneously cluttered, confusing, superficial and ultimately unrewarding except for a select few choices, which in turn break the game in your favor.
    - The lack of quality-of-life features such as any type of appearance changer is just sad.
    - The hundreds upon hundreds of bugs. Even on PC, this is no joke. For a game that relies heavily on immersion, you will find it broken every 10 minutes or so by a car exploding and launching into the sky. This is one of the tamer bugs, by the way as there are game-breaking ones as well.
    - EXTREMELY poor optimization. Ray tracing aside, there is absolutely no reason this game should run as poorly as it does on relatively high-end hardware.

All in all, there is a foundation upon which this game can grow. Is that an excuse for a shoddy, early release? Absolutely not. Do I believe this game will one day be good? Perhaps.

As it stands today, I cannot recommend Cyberpunk 2077. Perhaps in 1-2 years, when gameplay aspects and technical issues will have been refined and hammered out, the game will be what it was advertised to be. Free DLC, if made well, will certainly go a long way in addressing many of the game's issues and broken promises.

Right now, on PC, patch 1.06, the game is a WEAK 6/10. Just barely crossing the line of mediocrity, mostly due to its narrative and aesthetics. Yes, it was overhyped, however, even with lower expectations it still under-delivered overall.

Do NOT purchase this game unless you're fully aware of its shortcomings and still wish to play it.

Basically, I feel like I get fooled by the premise of the game, not the hype, not the bugs.

    From the marketing, I expect an immersive role-playing game. And because the origin of Cyberpunk is the pen & paper itself. Plus you can create "your V". There was so much hype on how detail you can customize your character (which turns out to be not much). You can choose your "Life path", you can live in the "Night City". But that doesn't matter because;

"V": - although you can customize your look, you won't feel that you play "your V". The dialog choices are just different ways of a preset "V" would say. Don't get me wrong, choices still are made to determine the outcome, but that is it. Look at Mass Effect, Fallout, Outer Worlds, the dialog choices in those games are not only there to pick the outcome, but they also reflect the different personalities of how you want to role-play your character. And by the way, there is no way you can change your appearance after starting the game. I mean "really"? We are in a Cyberpunk world where getting a human enhancement is like going to a dentist. Even in 1890 Red Dead Redemption 2 you at least have a barber...

"Life path" - This is just an addition to the point in the dialog above. Dialog base on the background will pop up in conversation to sometimes help the situation, but that's about it. So, I guess the real difference is the short first part of the start of the game.

"Night City" - I love how it looks. The density. The art and style. But there is just "nothing to do". I know there are loads of side quests. But as I mentioned that I expect the "role-playing", I thought there will be more of a "Night City activities" to do. (Like at least you have hunting/fishing in a fake RPG game like RDR2).

So, if this game would make itself clearer that it will be Wicherpunk 2077. I would not feel let down. Because in Witcher you know you will play as "Geralt". You cannot change his look. The dialog choices are what Geralt would say, just in different ways. You'd know it is a softcore role-playing game that focuses on the story and skills rather than role-plays, and that's nothing wrong with that. That's why Witcher 3 is a great game.

Finally, the good? Basically, the thing that Witcher 3 has done, a good story. That's why I won't rate this as negative. If I didn't get fool by the premise and all the media, it would get a better rating from me. So from this point on, CD Project Red really establish their view of "what is RPG" according to them, and I won't get fooled again.

A good game if you got a good beefy PC runs fine on Rtx 2080 ti and and 3900x. I have not have any problems or bugs the story is good and the game plays nice at around 100 fps without RayTracing but otherwise ultra settings. On a ultra wide Samsung screen.

I have spent over 85 hours playing this game, and I absolutely loved it. The gameplay is fun and interactive. The story is very good, and it gets way better if you do all the side quest. I had a few bugs along the way but nothing game-breaking. The ending had me in tears and I can't wait to see how the game develops with pacthes and DLCs.

I feel that people simply doesn't remember what **** was Witcher 3 on the launch day. CP2077 takes gamer in the terrific journey in the future. By now, 12.12.2020 we have already version 1.04 and I can except that most bugs will be fixed by end of january. CDPR should wait another 30 days with this launch. Bugs, bugs, bugs... oh why they doesn't fix the bugs? :/

I'd say the first 7 hours, and things keep getting interesting there's almost little to no repetitiveness, even the side missions are fun as hell and I didn't even feel like they were secondary missions. I don't wanna write a 5000 words review but I'll just say this: the game's technical bugs will be fixed through updates and they're not a way of judging this game's settings and RPG elements and story and characters..etc. and in the future the bugs will be fixed and people will start to understand this game and realize how wrong they were about it all along. I'm giving this game a 10/10 by putting aside all the bugs and glitches that are just technical and looked into the core of the game. its purpose and message and everything that makes a video game. personally I haven't ran into many bugs on PC. I only face a UI glitch where a message pops up and stays there. all I had to do is go back to the main menu then hit continue. maybe because I have only SSD's and no HDDs. we just have to wait for periodic patches and enjoy the game to the fullest. Utterly atrocious. Knowing that the developers of this made Witcher 3, this is an embarrassment. The graphics are crap, there are so many bugs it's ridiculous, and we waited nine years for this steaming pile of trash. I don't care if I can customize my dick, if I can't even play the game. I'd rather play Fallout 76 than this trash pile, and that's saying something.

Despite what the cry babies who have and who haven't played this game say, this game is fun and it looks stunning. The story is good, runs great even on my low end GPU. The developers worked very hard on this game, put their heart and soul to it and for a first game in this genre it turned out pretty good. In my experience I have only seen 3 bugs, 1 of them game breaking but a simple reload save fixed it. Don't listen to the cry babies and see for yourself if you like the game and if the bugs are bothering you just wait a bit, CDPR are already pushing out all the big updates. Expand

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
