This thing is bargain bin material as control is horrible and not sharp, game AI can't even compete with the likes of Far Cry or FEAR or even the first HalfLife. Ok sure close combat might have been anticipated with the nano suit, which is pretty cool in the beginning gets pretty much useless later on. You occasionally use the strength feature to jump places that "randomly" stand in the way between you and the objective. After a few hours of playing I tried evading contact as much as possible, switching between speed and cloak. Yes the graphics are nice and yes you need a top notch computer to run it but even with one you ll get memory lag after some time. Call of Duty 4 might not have the best graphics or story but it certainly is more entertaining and still looks very nice and is much more fun than Crysis. Expand

The gameplay is fun, the powers are cool, however...with objects disappearing at a certain range then reappearing when you're close (even enemies) it's impossible to scope out a place and find the safest route because as you run for an area suddenly an enemy "appears" in what looked to be clear area beforehand. How unrealistic is that? Next, even if I do find an enemy at a safe distance and go for a shot, the guns you use are horribly inaccurate at a range of more than point blank. I remember doing single shots at maybe 200 meters from the enemy and have about half a clip unloaded before he died. This leads me to another thing..a guy gets shot, he looks around searching for you, runs around aimlessly, does not look to take cover. horrible AI anyone? I think EA MUST have paid these guys to give this game good reviews because this is not NEAR any of the recent FPS's that have come out and are not even in the same category. I wasn't particularly impressed with the gameplay though. Despite its rather open environment, it felt very linear. All of the weapons in this game were bland, not much recoil and not much damage. I particularly disliked the cloaking function, and in that sense Crysis 0.0 (Far Cry) was better.
This game is pretty much Far Cry with nice graphics without mutants, but you do get some black squid shooting lasers.

Bad final boss that seems to have been just slapped there for the purpose of having a final fight.

The voice acting is robotic at best, weapon sounds are generic, bugs and glitches leak out of every proverbial nook and cranny, and the whole game reeks of a total lack of Quality Control. Sure it's all very pretty, but why is my several-ton tank getting stuck on the tiniest rocks and ledges? I can't count the number of times I was forced to abandon vehicles simply because they got permanently wedged somewhere that a children's push car would have no trouble navigating. Worse, the game would crash to desktop every time I so much as blinked at the graphics settings, and eventually degraded into crashing any time I tried to load a save game. I was about halfway through the game when this happened. Rather than slog through hours of bugs, glitches, crashes, and cheap deaths all over again, I simply uninstalled the game and moved on to something else. The Crysis Warhead mission fixes a *few* of the crash bugs that I had, but the moronic enemies and horrible driving mechanics were still firmly in place. All-in-all, Crysis is fun, but it's far too flawed and broken for me to enjoy. Expand

Everything about the gameplay is awful. The suit abilities are underpowered to the point where they aren't fun. Gun play is some of the worst, with a ton of recoil and bullet spongy enemies. Everything little thing can kill you, like using super speed can kill you if you run in something.

The game is also glitchy, like I saw props bugging out, a gun shooting itself, multiple graphical glitches, the list can go on.

Don't get me started on the last 'mission'. Without any spoilers, let me just say I had to grab a weapon that was needed later on. I forgot to grab it, so when that part came, I didn't have the weapon. So I went back to grab it, but found out that I couldn't go back. I had to load an earlier save just to get the weapon. That is the worst mission design I have ever seen.

Crysis is a bad experience that has been undeserving praised to a extremely high level. This isn't the amazing game people crack it up to be.

I like many others was initially immersed in the graphics. But in time, the linear gameplay and two dimensional storyline left me feeling empty and ripped off. The suit was pretty inspiring at first, but became rather boring as the game evolved. Similarly, as the game progressed, I started noticing that it seemed to progressively lag, now Im talking about frames per second lag. I realized that this thing actually drains memory. Bleeds it. I tried to install the patch, but couldn't do it. It started crashing, and then it started shutting down my whole system. Then it did something I never expected. No, Im not talking about the weapons, or even my arms that appear to sometimes float in front of my field of view, Im talking about crashing my system to the point that I had no choice but to reload my whole OS. I started getting blue screen crashes, and SOMEHOW, this game managed to corrupt my pagefile, and completely fill it up. I tried every possible remedy to solve the provlem, but my virtual memory was completely used up, minus about 40 megs. I couldn't dump it, view the contents of the pagefile, or anything. "The skillpoints and upgrades would make the game better", I thought all the time because the unique supercostume doesn't make you that badass. You feel yourself just a simple soldier: your armor is regeneration, speed boost regenerates too slow, Its lazy to push strength boost just for the jump or hits. It would be better if all boosts were not connected to only one charge line cause its not fun. The atmosphere is just any battlefield company one half of the game and the next half is second half of the Borderlands 1. Alien enemy: robots jellyfishes, spiders and ghosts; ancient as dinasours, more developed in techonoly, but stupid and unfriendly as any animal or movies' aliens. Thats Crysis for me. Expand

Destined to be a classic, Crysis is a creative and technological marvel that eclipses every other shooter released this year. [Holiday 2007, p.60]
  2. Crysis thrives on putting the onus on you to create your own brand of action and adventure in its stunningly beautiful locations. You and the game can haphazardly create moments of such gaming brilliance that often you pretty much have to stand up and applaud. [Christmas 2007, p.44]

This is some fast, well designed gameplay with enough options to allow players to use their own style of attack with satisfying suit abilities and weapons. Crytek has upped their attention to detail in presentation and dropped the worst parts of "Far Cry’s" story.
